The rise of Nadiyan nationalism, its origins and causes, and how it's influencing the Confederation: the chimera's eternal lasting impact

Ever since the first wave of rebellions hit the Trigunian Tsardom on the dawn of the 1st of October 5662 with the release of the October Revolutionary Declaration and subsequent secessions from the provinces historically deemed too "free" by the Bashnya, the Nadiyan people have found themselves in a state of limbo when it comes to their new identity as a successor yet different successor to Trigunia. The first traces of the emerging "Nadiyan" identity could be traced back all the way to the first Utopianist era in which Matriarch Frolova and her successor Pavlina hardwired the old Trigunian federation by overthrowing the traditional social and political order same with the economy which saw its potential unshackled as the federation became the world's first ever Utopianist and matriarchal country.

However, Frolova and her associates didn't stop there, as one of the core beliefs of Utopianism back then was the creation of a unique, unified society that was unified on the beliefs of freedom, integrity, and diversity. This led to the start of the "New Trigunian People" project which mainly consisted of ethnic minorities being moved around and forced to interact with each other to the point where those same minorities would be erased alongside the dominant Rodashkan ethnicity in favor of a new ethnic group in unbothered by ethnic and cultural issues and solely focused on the implementation of the utopian project no matter what. Of course, this project was controversial across all spheres of power as many saw it as yet another attempt to turn Trigunia into an ethnostate, which in turn caused the rise of the reactionary Conservative Tsarist Party and the official end of the first Utopianist era with the coup of 5310 and the resignation of matriarch Novikova. Yet the project was thrown away as it was restarted during the corporate era under the rule of Larissa Novikova, the project now named "Anastasia's Dream", involved a horrifying list of human rights violations as people were abducted and taken to secret labs operated by the mega corporations in the hopes of engineering the "perfect" Trigunian that would help revitalize the nation by willingly working until their death and without ever questioning the rule of the conglomerates which defined Trigunian life until the fall of Larissa in favor of her more moderate vice president Agatha who reformed the Conglomerates into a commonwealth and thus ending the the corporate era and starting the second Utopianist era.

Following the fall of the second Utopianist era and dissolution of the Trigunian commonwealth, defenders of the new Trigunian identity went underground, just like their fellow utopianists, they began a series of pro-Utopianist campaigns against the newly established Tsardom and Princedom due to the two entities being deemed as "reactionary" by the utopianists and their supporters who fled to Aldegar and other parts of Terra such as Lourenne, and even Yingdala which saw a Utopianist party rule over the country democratically then with an iron grip after the monarchy was restored and substantially abolished to form the Commonwealth that was under a defacto one party system with all political parties being forced to become members of the Harmonic Concordia that was led by PFU. However, those wild strands of Utopianism all helped fuel the Nadiyan project from within the Tsardom by allowing for Utopianist politicians to take shelter and spread their agendas even further as the Princedom had recently fallen and been replaced by the Trigunian Tsardom, a ruthless one-party state dominated by the March 17th committee who undid all the ethnic and political reforms brought by the Princedom. 

The fall of the Princedom and the rise of the Tsardom were a catalyst for the popularization of the Nadiyan project as the once legal democratic parties were banned in favor of one-party rule, many aligned with the underground United Trigunia of the Future movement and the utopianists in general, the Rodashkan-centric policies, and the centralization of power into the Bashnya led to many trigunians losing hope into the nation as it suffered from a cycle of revolution, reforms, dictatorship, and autocracies. While the autocrats in the Bashnya were busy militarizing the nation, neglecting the economy, and centralizing power, the OTB and their allies saw their numbers skyrocket and their ideals spread like wildfire within resistance groups especially with ethnic and religious minorities who saw their identities baffled and their languages violated. This culminated in the MK-17's reformist wing winning the internal party elections and restoring a somewhat democratic form of rule by legalizing all previously banned parties, this in turn caused the MK-17 to split up as many migrated to the newly created Imperial Conservative Party and the reformist members moved to the Liberal Democrats of Trigunia and the OTB parties, deepening divisions in Trigunian politics even further, during the 5555 elections, the MK-17 were practically wiped out as the ICP won 45% of the seats in the state Duma which forced them to enter into a coalition government with their former colleagues.

With the appointment of Afon Kiselev to the chancellery, the Tsardom began shifting hard toward more authoritarian measures as the ICP began cracking down on the opposition and privatizing every single part of the economy with the famous selling of Neftkomp that led to the company going bankrupt and the Trigunian economy tanking. The insuring economic disaster caused the suicide of the governor of the central bank on live television and the crushing victory of OTB in the 5561 which saw the ICP kicked out of the Duma and the liberal opposition taking over. However, Kiselev refused to recognize the election, calling it undemocratic and unconstitutional to the point that he even suspended the Duma and shot peaceful protestors in what is known as the Saint Ivana square massacre. Immediately after it, an epidemic known as the Bloody Tears virus hit the tsardom and forced the government to quarantine the entire nation, at first Kiselev's government refused to acknowledge the epidemic even tho the governors of Lesnov and Vrosnok had declared a state of emergency in their respective regions while the Bashnya just urged people to clean their hands, it was until the first confirmed cases of the virus being present in the Bashnya were released that the government ordered a Nationwide lockdown.

Following the absolute fumble that was the government's reaction to the epidemic alongside the economic shock therapy and political oppression, the Revolutionary October Declaration, an announcement made by the leaders of the OTB, LPDT, TCP, and the governors of Lesnov, Vrosnok, and formally named Nsmenti, now Kozacchyna, officially kick-started the Trigunian Disaster as entire regions rebelled in 1962 and declared independence while the government suspended civilian rule entirely and appointed military governors for Kozacchyna and Brakav. In response, the rebelling nation formed the Nadiyan Economic Community as the Frontline stalled before another wave of rebellions hit the Tsardom as the Nova Beagukiyan minority, anarchists, and pan kerisians declared unilateral secession from Trigunia. The first Trigunian war ended in what is known as the Rodashyam treaty, in which the Tsardom and NEC agreed to establish a demilitarized zone and an indefinite ceasefire in exchange for the Tsardom letting the new rebel states join the community.

The name "Nadiya" itself has multiple debated origins but most historians agree that the most likely source for the name came from either the Kozaki or Indigenous languages, traces of the name "Nadiya" were seen as early as 1500 BC with the Asakh people using the word "Nadikhna" to describe the Trigunian archipelago, the word itself, according to langue experts, means "Land of the Winter sky" or "Realm of the forever sun" given the fact that most of the land falls onto or past the artic circle. However, other sources claim that the name Nadiya comes from the Kozakis population as records from the 19th century have the nation of "Nadicchyna" referred to when talking about the Deltarian colony, the name itself supposedly means "Land of Hope" due to the colons seeing the artic colony as a hopeful opportunity for them to be free from the shackles of Deltaria because of the great distance separating the colony from the empire. It is agreed upon that the name of Nadiya was the original one used for the Trigunian Isles before its discovery by Artanian and Majatran explorers, but other historic records from the different indigenous ethnic groups such as the Tlagu and Itkilit used a ,variant of Nadiya that is "Nadorkha" which means either Seal Island or the Frozen Haven. Yet given the historical use of the name Nadiya by the indigenous and ethnic minorities, the named Trigunia was the one who prevailed over the others with the arrival of Deltarian missionaries and colonists which cemented the name of Trigunia until its abolition on the 8th of March 5623.

Even tho the Trigunian archipelago was the theater of a bloody era of warlordism and anarchy from 5562 until 5623, the idea of restoring Nadiya or what remains of it became increasingly popular among the population of the different independent states composing the NEC. The first republics to openly call for reunification were Kozacchyna and Vrosnok who both moved the NEC forward being an intergovernmental organization based on the different defunct continental unions across Terra by reforming its general assembly from a simple advisory body composed of appointed representatives from each member toward a legislative body capable of passing and enforcing laws by electing a secretary general with the recommendations of the Council of Nations, the ensuing series of political reforms and federalization led to the popularization of the idea to create some sort of union or confederation between the different nations of the archipelago. The reforms continued until the start of the Second Trigunian War which saw the tsardom capitulate unconstitutionally and be forced to sign a humiliating treaty officially killing Trigunia, banning male heirs from ever holding the throne, and unifying 12 republics into 5 nations that shall kickstart the unification process.

The elections following the defeat of Trigunia saw the victory of the Social Revolutionary and pro unification leader Rostlyvan Dovhan into the position of Secretary General of the NEC, he then immediately reforming the NEC even further with the support of the other parties which all wanted to unify the isles once again. A referendum was held asking the citizens if they want the NEC to become a unified country known as Nadiya or keep the status quo, and without a surprise, the pro union votes crushed the opposition and allowed for the start of the "Unification protocol" which was a series of political and economic plans that each republic has to implement with a yearly review determining the health of the unification project. Ultimately the republics managed to successfully integrate themselves within each other which culminated in the creation of a constitutional convention to write the Nadiyan constitution and the proclamation of the Nadiya confederation in 5649.

Ever since the confederation was proclaimed, Nadiyan citizens and society in general have begun shifting to the right on many social issues but they shifted to the left economically, the phenomenon known as Nadiyan nationalism was popularized with the creation of the Hosian Matriarchist Democratic party, a Nadiyan conservative far right party that advocates for the federalization of the Confederacy and defend "traditional" Nadiyan values which are matriarchal conservative values mainly target men and their rights by stomping down on gender equality and the menist movement. The HMDP managed to grow their base from a fringe religious group into one of the country's leading political force in the matter of 10 years with them now being projected to triple their vote and seat gains in the next confederal elections while the Party's president and one of the two representatives they have in the presidential council has enjoyed record breaking approval from the Nadiyan electorate as a recent poll had her at +45 while the incumbent Chief Executive from the Pastels only has -15. It is clear that nationalism in the confederation has become extremely popular especially among the youth who mainly identify themselves as Nadiyan instead of the republic they originate from as shown in a recent report that stated 45% of the Nadiyan youth identify as "Only Nadiyan" while 15% see themselves as "Nadiyan and unique to their home republic", and only 6% identify themselves as non Nadiyan which marks a significant development in the issue of Nadiyan identity and the relation it has with the many ethnic and cultural identities composing it.

Finally, the Confederation is set to centralize power even further as nationalism rises and the population asks for more powers being transfered to the central government instead of the republics so that Nadiya will remain intact and preservered for generations to come, but some within the Confederacy still believe that they were better off independent than unified. It remains to be seen how the central government and the republics will balance the act of centralization and unity without leading the newly born nation toward an unclear fate.
