SDLP goes on the campaign trail; A vision of renewal.

With elections next year, many have been anticipating the candidates and this week, the Social Democratic Labour Party (a technical successor the Socialist Labour Party of old and the Pan-Artanian Progressive Party) has announced a new manifesto, a candidate for next year's election and of course, the campaign trail. With Esteben Arizu, a former industrial worker turned politician being nominated, Arizu has pledged a vision of renewal for Kundrati.

In his acceptance speech, he highlighted the 7 Evils of Kundrati. Poverty. Plague. Hatred. Oligarchy. Destitution. Injustice. And Despair. Arizu has pledged that should the SDLP be elected, these 7 Evils will be brought down. In practical terms, as we've seen on the campaign trail, Arizu and the SDLP have focused on of course, a social democratic approach. For combating poverty, Arizu and the SDLP have endorsed the idea of a comprehensive public works program to quickly employ Kundratijians, and rebuild the economy, alongside creating a welfare system for all citizens, a living wage in all sectors of the economy, and rural investments, particularly in the North. For Plague, of course, expanding healthcare access across the country, with focus on rural coverage to ensure equal access. For Hatred, a national reconciliation commission to uncover the crimes of the Legionnaire State, education reforms to rebuild civic democracy and undo decades of propaganda in schooling, and of course, trials for former Legionnaires. For Oligarchy, anti-monopoly laws, progressive taxation, and economic justice. For Destitution, a Veteran and Victims Fund, affordable housing programs, and working towards social insurance programs. For Injustice, judicial reforms, continues trials for atrocities, and civilian oversight of security. And finally, for Despair, empowering the people, the youth, and focusing on bread and butter issues to make sure every Kundratijian can live a good life.

While it's questionable if a left wing candidate can prevail in a country scarred by fascism, the SDLP is certainly looking to give the Kundratijian Left a sense of hope again. Whether hope and social democracy can win this election or not is an entirely different matter, but for now, the SDLP is looking to focus mostly on the North of the country compared to the South, looking to capture those who are in need of hope and vision. The motto of this campaign, "Fighting for you and me", captures what this campaign is about. Fighting for every Kundratijian.
