The certified election results as of 7:00 AM.
16 March 5678 (backdated)
On the 14th of February the new constitution was approved in a referendum with an astounding 89 percent approval from the people of the Kingdom of Wrnuke. King Temrkai VII himself certified the results of the referendum, applauding the people for their decision. This is in stark contrast to his predecessors, as previous Banmek-Sntazed monarchs have shown a preference for a more authoritarian style of leadership over their Jelbic domain. The new Kingdom however, will be one of democracy and liberal values. Twelve parties registered for elections, eight garnered enough votes to be elected into the Grand Council. Out of these parties the social-liberal Wrntu Jelb'koékai (Jelbics Forward) gained the most amount of seats with 64 out of 225 being assigned to the movement of Duchess Anzlék-Zahr. Her direct rival, Dwít Z'nstro, managed to attain 49 seats, placing the liberal-conservatives of the Lofrkadé Péashro (Liberal Vanguard) second. In the end the more centrist agenda of the WJ and the strong debate performances of the Duchess seemed to have made the difference. Both Z'nstro and Anzlék-Zahr have admitted they see each other as future partners in a coalition. With the current numbers both parties hold 113 seats together, giving them the slimmest majority possible in Wrnuke's parliament.
Other party leaders celebrated too, as Mri Hilleskedrsme Ehwre's Worldburnerist Aked Prta (Red Party) became third with 40 seats. The Ám'ádsrlji Krsyjogad (Ahmadist Union) garnered 21 seats with their Ahmadist centre-left program, the eco-pacifist and animal right's movement Jezhrjebrnfi Prta (Most Important Brother Party) managed to climb up to 18 seats against expectations. The Jelbic big tent traditionalists of the Tanhriék Prostrnatnyrmojad (Tanhri's Will) got 14 seats, their more militaristic and far-right cousins of Ztarmojad (Scourge) got up to 12 seats and the fringe party of Prince Kezkai Banmek-Sntazed, the Jez Sháhaziék Vfjokai (Loyalists to the Great Lion) were able to scrounge up 7 seats. While the two liberal parties under the Duchess and Z'nstro have enough seats for a majority it would only take one absent seat for them to lose this, many pundits are expecting them to form a coalition with a third party for a broader majority in the Grand Council.
The Grak Sháhazi (Black Lion) is a periodic news magazine that was once founded by leftist Wrnukaék journalists in exile, it attracts mostly centre-left readers with academic backgrounds.
