Romula prepares to reopen with Zardugal

ROMULA - A turning point that smells of history is about to happen: according to rumors from Antinori Palace, the government is working on preparations for an official visit to Zardugal, the first in over a century of diplomatic silence between the two countries.

Relations between Istalia and Zardugal were abruptly interrupted at the time of the fall of the Socialist Republic during the Great Patriotic War of Liberation, when the Patriots turned the page, tearing down the revolutionary model that had bound the two nations for decades. Zardugal, which remained loyal to the Istalian socialist regime until the end, subsequently experienced a long period of political and diplomatic isolation, gradually becoming one of the most distant nations from the rest of the Majatran continent. Today, however, the situation seems destined to change. With the arrival of a new Zardic leadership, determined to promote a more open and cooperative foreign policy, relations with the Imperial State of Istalia also appear to be moving towards a phase of reconciliation and renewal.

According to sources within the governing coalition, the Zardic initiative has been enthusiastically welcomed by the New Communists, who have long advocated for strengthening ties with other socialist nations, considering them a useful counterweight to the Empire's dense network of relations with liberal and capitalist countries. In particular, the left wing of the government sees in Zardugal a partner to promote an alternative development model, based on cooperation, ethical production and social industry. The projet evisaged by the New Communists, according to leaks, is aimed at creating bilateral trade and industrial channels, with a particular focus on cooperative production, a sector that has seen significant expansion in Istalia in recent years, thanks to policies encouraging worker participation in business management.

However, not all of the majority share the same enthusiasm. The Greens, government allies, have expressed strong reservations about the visit and the development of stronger relations, due to recent environmental-related events in Zardugal. The Zardic leadership has authorized the deforestation of a large area of forest, sparking tensions with the country's main environmental movements, some of whose members have been arrested on charges of planting explosives in the forest to prevent its destruction. Minister Secretary Moccia, while not opposing the diplomatic initiative, appears to be closer to the Greens' positions. According to government sources, if the visit goes ahead, he intends to bring up the environmental issue at the meeting, emphasizing the concern and discontent sparked in Istalia by these latest Zardic events.

The mission, which could be formalized in the coming months and would involve the participation of His Majesty the Emperor, Minister Secretary Moccia and the leader of the New Communists, Vito Salvetti, promises to be complex: a symbolic gesture of reopening and dialogue, but also a delicate test for the coalition's cohesion and for Istalia's international credibility in a continent rediscovering the language of cooperation after decades of opposition.
