"Turning the page for the good of Istalians and whole Majatra": the Imperial House clarifies Istalian position on the Thallers and its new relations with Narikaton & Darnussia

ROMULA - After days of speculation and heated controversy, the Imperial House has decided to intervene publicly to clarify the situation. The occasion was an extraordinary press conference convened by the Imperial Secretary in charge of the Imperial House Press Office, following the official confirmation from the Government of Narikaton & Darnussia of the opening of diplomatic dialogue with the Imperial State of Istalia.

An initiative in itself unusual for the Crown, which traditionally avoids direct statements on contingent political issues, but in this case, the Imperial House sought to represent the nation's historical memory and openly support the Government before the public, offering the moral weight of the Imperial House as a guarantee of unity, continuity and harmony of purpose among all the institutions of the State.

The news from the Narikaton & Darnussia Government, greeted with mixed reactions in the Artanian country, immediately reignited a debate in Istalia as old as Imperial history itself: the relationship with the Thallers, which originated in Narikaton & Darnussia, which for centuries has been one of Istalia's main historical adversary.

The Imperial Household spokesman, addressing journalists gathered in the Hall of Ancient Columns in Quattroregni Palace, began by saying:

We understand the questions, and even the concerns. No one in Istalia has forgotten who the Thallers were, nor what their influence meant for our nation. But turning the page does not mean forgetting: it means growing and acting with maturity, to build the future of our citizens, not to perpetuate the ghosts of the past.

The official recalled the very roots of the Imperial House, founded by Michele I, the general who led the Istalian revolt against the so-called "Thallerist Revolution" and Julius Thaller's coup d'état in the second half of the 46th century.

It is impossible to separate the birth of the First Empire from the overcoming of that national trauma. And that is why the Crown understands better than anyone the symbolic weight of every diplomatic gesture involving the Thallers.

There was also a discussion of relations with Deltaria, where a member of the Thaller dynasty currently reigns.

The Crown and the Government are fully aware of the sensitivity of the issue and they don't hide the fact that attention and vigilance towards Deltaria will remain high. No one can ignore that only a century ago, a return of Thallerist autocracy upset the continent's balance.

When asked if the Imperial House had faith in Deltaria's democratic stability, the spokesperson responded cautiously but firmly:

Relations of détente, collaboration and friendship are not acts of faith, but pragmatic choices. They are based on the ability of our interlocutors to maintain institutional solidity and avoid any resurgence of authoritarianism. Istalia is ready to cooperate, but not to turn a blind eye.

Sources close to the Palace have hinted that this position directly reflects the thinking of Emperor Tommaso, who has always been attentive to issues of continental security and deeply aware of the historical role of Istalia as a bulwark against any form of autarchy.

The central theme of the conference, however, remained the new relations with Narikaton & Darnussia. The spokesperson clarified:

The suspicions and mistrust in recent years have arisen not so much from the Thaller name, but from the close, almost symbiotic relationship between the 3rd Point Federation and Beiteynu, a country towards which Istalia has experienced centuries of suspicions and mistrust.

He recalled how, during the Seventh Republic, the Istalian public was drawn into conspiracy theories alleging that Beiteynu had deliberately sabotaged imperial prosperity:

For many, the 3PF was seen as an extension of that Beiteynese influence, which, in reality, has been greatly resized today. The world has changed, we hope that also the people of today Amudim and their leaders have learned from the mistakes of the past, so, Istalia cannot remain a prisoner of ancestral legends and fears.

On several occasions, the spokesperson emphasized that the decision to open up to Narikaton & Darnussia is fully supported by the Crown, indeed, in part directly inspired by it:

It will be a gradual process, but strongly desired by His Majesty the Emperor, who deeply believes in the need to build a Majatra of peace, cooperation and prosperity. And this pass also through the establishment of friendship and concordia with the closest areas of Seleya and Artania, in those areas where, inevitably, regional interests overlap and merge. This is not just a government line: it is a vision of civilization.

According to the spokesperson, the Emperor has repeatedly expressed his belief that Istalia must assume the moral and political leadership of regional stability, including through reconciliation with ancient rivals.

Only by creating a dense network of economic, cultural and strategic ties, founded on equality and mutual respect, can we guarantee lasting security and well-being for the Majatran peoples and, reflexively, of the Istalian people.

Responding to another question, the press officer recalled the recent experience of the conflict in New Endralon and Kizenia, noting how coups and authoritarian tendencies can resurface suddenly and unpredictably:

Precisely for this reason, it is essential to build a cohesive regional bloc, capable of reacting quickly and decisively. Nations united by relationships of trust and cooperation have many more tools to contain crises and defend democracy.

In closing, the spokesperson delivered a heartfelt message to the citizens of Narikaton & Darnussia:

We know that your public opinion is divided, as is ours. It's natural, after centuries of mutual distrust and fear.
But only by working together, with honesty, respect and tolerance can we overcome the ghosts of the past and build a better future.
This is what the Emperor desires, not only as a ruler, but as a man who cares about the fate of his nation and the entire Majatra.

The conference concluded in an atmosphere of attention and respect, after a long question and answer session that further clarified the position of the Imperial House and the Government. The message, however, was clear: today's Istalia does not forget its history, but consciously chooses to move beyond it, with prudence, firmness and vision.
