Hulanevek Diamond becomes publicly viewable in Eveari

Hulanevek Diamond's Display secured by AYIC Director Jacob Maxwell

"We are very happy to be able to see, for the first time, this critical artifact of Yeudi History and culture, the Hulanevek Diamond, also known as the White Gem, one of the original 8 Gems of Elior," said AYIC Director Jacob Maxwell during the celebration inaugurating the Crown Jewels Exhibit in the Museum of the Empire at Ananto Estate in Eveari. "This stone has been in the possession of the Anantos since it was received from the Kundrati Hulaneveks in 5573 in an effort to protect it from the incoming fascist regime in Kundrati. The Hulaneveks themselves held the stone for 300 years prior to that and before that, it had been in the hands of a member of the Benowitz family subline. But this is the first time it has been publicly displayed, and we are happy to announce that the House Ananto has agreed to make it available for all to see and admire."

Maxwell said that the deal was long in the works with the Royal House. "It was important that Kalistani Yeudis stepped up and talked with House Ananto to explain how important that stone was for Yeudis around the world. We believe that other nations have made an effort to at least partially display the gems they possess, but for the most part, Kalistan has refused to display the White Gem, for various geopolitical reasons of course. Concerns of theft were among other reasons for not displaying, but the Yeudi diaspora here in Kalistan has I am proud to say impressed upon the Royal Family just how important it is for us to be able to access this little piece of our own national history and heritage, even if its just to know that the stone is there, and that we can go see it."

Maxwell also put a plug in for the Museum of the Empire. "As the Hulanevek Diamond represents a shared history between the Yeudi Diaspora and the Kalistani Monarchy, we should not forget too that we are Kalistani citizens. Not only is the Hulanevek Diamond part of a much larger crown jewels exhibit which the public can look at for the first time, but the rest of the Museum of the Empire is similarly fascinating. There are exhibits to Kalistan's tragic losses during the Kundrati War, many of our successes in technology, infrastructure, culture, and philosophy, as well as a wing which talks about where are the people who constitute what we call 'Kalistani' come from around the world. The migrant populations, the refugees, and yes, Yeudi populations fleeing from persecution globally, all came to this country, mixed in with one another, and called it home. Foreigners have always been welcomed in Kalistan, and as a member of the Yeudi diaspora, I will say that includes Yeudis from all foreign lands. We may have suffered persecution in lands we once thought of as home, but there has never been persecution of Yeudis in this nation."

Maxwell would not address whether there was any truth to the rumors that House Ananto is considering returning the diamond to either Kundrati or Beiteynu. "As far as I know, the Anantos would say it was given to Pavlina Ananto-Hulanevek as a gift for her daughter Carolina Ananto-Hulanevek. Our current Emperor, His Imperial Majesty Emperor Fredrick IV Ananto is the Great Grandson by the most direct line of Empress Carolina, so by rights of inheritance, it is his stone. It would be nice if House Ananto would possibly consider returning the diamond, but I don't really know what circumstances could possibly entice him to do so. We Yeudis are happy to leave it on display right here in Kalsitan, which, for the Diaspora in Kalistan is much more of a home than Amudim ever will be. As long as House Ananto continues to own the Diamond, we can now see it when we want. If they give it up, it will probably be hidden from us once more."

The Museum of the Empire is on the ground of the Ananto Estate in Eveari, so those who wish to see the diamond will want to book a stay in the town. The Museum usually gets about 7500 visitors annually, but that number is expected to increase 10 fold now that the diamond is on display, and the Museum Director, Sir Robert Caldwell, said that security will dictate how many people may be in the crown Jewels exhibit at one time. "It is possible that we will have to sell tickets to the exhibit, as a measure of ensuring proper crowd control around these gems," said Sir Caldwell. "The ticket price, in any event would be nominal: the entire museum is free, but tickets would be a way to pay for additional security and access onto the grounds." He also said a new system has been worked out to return the displays to the vault each evening to deter theft. "I wont go into details regarding security," said Sir Caldwell.

Maxwell said Kalistani Yeudis ought to be proud. "This has been the main effort of my career so far," he said. "Our Constituents asked for it, and the Anantos listened. We should congratulate ourselves for getting this done, for being able to explain how important having access to this stone is for Kalistani Yeudis, and for putting into place measures to actually accomplish this as a goal for Yeudis in Kalistan and around the world. All are invited to Eveari to come see the White Gem, one of the original 8 Gems of Elior."
