National Assembly, June 27, 5739: L’EXAMINATEUR HERAUT asked Union Federale Radicale (UFR) Floor Leader Louis LeFebvre what kind of issues were being addressed in the National Assembly, and LeFebvre responded:
 
We are seeing the usual decisions on whether particular services should be furnished by private business or government agency, and most actually presented are breaking toward government agencies.
 
Surprisingly, what has become the most heated issue is Presidential power. Some parties such as UFR favor legislative supremacy in the Republique, but the extensive amendments to the Constitution as it was being reshaped created rather the opposite.
 
As the Constitution has emerged, the President gets to initially select the Head of Government, veto legislation and issue executive orders.  The President decided to ban holding nobles.  The rules on nobility were already a shambles calling for clarification which abolition certainly did.
 
A substantial minority of the National Assembly felt this was something which should be determined legislatively but the governing coalition voted otherwise upholding the Executive Order.in question.
 
Amendments to limit and expand Presidential authority are under consideration.  UFR expects its support for legislative supremacy will go into the dustbin of history.

Scandal strikes UFL - Chairman arrested

Rildanorian politics are confronted with a big scandal today. The company of the Chairman of the new party UFL which sought to bring new wind into Rildanorian politics, Nicoleau Holding, has been found to be implicated in large scale money laundering and smuggling of illegal goods through Dalibor into Rildanor, as the national police uncovered. Jean-Michel Nicoleau was arrested at his villa in Tiralle this morning with police escorting him to pre-trial detention. 

According to our sources, party secretary and presidential candidate Matthieu Yang and his company which worked in close cooperation with Nicoleau Holding are implicated as well. Mr. Yang is however nowhere to be found with speculation about his whereabouts mostly circling towards him having fled to his country of birth, Dalibor, where he doesn't have to fear extradition. 

The UFL's vice-presidential candidate Jeanne de Saint-Pierre stood before the press this afternoon to communicate the party's next steps. She announced that the party would step down from all the elections it was running in and stop campaigning immediately. It encouraged its members to run as independents in local races. "It is esential for the party to look inwards and figure out how to continue after this event that shook us to our core."

With election approaching, the PNP describe itself as the defender of democracy

With only four months remaining before the next election, Guillaume Mayer, President of the PNP, accompanied by Vice President Héloïse Maret, held a press conference to unveil the party's main campaign themes. They announced that the campaign would primarily focus on what they describe as the defense of democratic principles.

Mayer declared:

"We are witnessing an unprecedented attack on democracy from Rildanor's major parties. The introduction of an unnecessary electoral threshold is merely the latest example. The largest parties have conspired to pass legislation that would effectively bar smaller parties from entering the National Assembly. As a result, millions of voters will be disenfranchised by a bill that appears likely to pass, largely thanks to the three parties that make up the governing coalition.

We have seen the President abuse executive orders on matters as trivial as hunting regulations, completely disregarding the sovereignty of the National Assembly. We have also witnessed the failure to adopt meaningful constitutional reforms to clarify and limit the powers of the presidency, leaving our nation in a state of dangerous constitutional ambiguity.

In this context, we must take a stand. The PNP will be the party that vows to restore democracy and reaffirm the sovereignty of the National Assembly. With this objective in mind, we will challenge the three major parties the PLS, Élan, and the PP."

For her part, Héloïse Maret stated that, while the defense of democracy would be the party's central campaign theme, the PNP would continue to champion its longstanding principles, including strong nationalism and its unwavering "Rildanor First" agenda.

Julie Muselier Selected as PLS Candidate for President

Julie Muselier, the Labour Minister and Deputy Secretary of PLS, has announced her candidacy for President.

TIRALLE - The governing body of the PLS has announced on Tuesday that Julie Muselier will be the party's candidate for President of the Republic in the December 5740 election, and that she'll be joined by former Health Minister Callum Hawkes as her running mate. Madame Muselier was, for a long time, the Minister of Foreign Affairs under PMs Des Ambrois and Doumerc. Since 5737, she is the Minister of Commerce and Industry, a change in role that was necessary when former President Aimard-Bélanger was appointed in the Foreign Ministry. She is considered one of the most known and popular PLS politicians, a popularity that has grown since she became Deputy Leader of the PLS in 5736. In a social media post she wrote:

I am very proud to have been selected as PLS's candidate for President. I will run a positive and inclusive campaign capable of representing the values of solidarity and internationalism my party stands for. I am honored to be joined in the ticket by a capable former colleague, a representative of Rildanor's very important Mordusian community, Dr. Callum Hawkes. Together, we will seek the votes of our fellow Rildanorians.

In a note, PLS's Secretary-General and Deputy Prime Minister Olivier Brassard said that the PLS aims at securing a place in the second round of voting, but has also added that if this objective won't be reached, the PLS will support incumbent President Lahaye for re-election. Madame Muselier will officially kick-off her campaign next month, after the Legislative Elections are held.

Former state auditor launches his own conservative political party just two months before the presidential election



Standing before journalists in Tiralouse, with his former job's building being behind him, the 53-year-old Grégoire Sartre made a surprising announcement to the whole nation: he's entering the Rildanorian politics with his own right-wing party, the Sovereigntist Right, or the DSV. Being the former comptroller-general of the Rildanorian Court of Audit, Sartre has announced that he will "no longer stand aside of all the things happening in Rildanor", and that there must be a force that will protect the "common sense" ideology in the country against the "destructive socialism" policies of the PLS, Élan and others.

According to Sartre, the DSV will be a "people's party", serving the common man's interest, especially those who were forgotten by the current government and ruling elites of the parliamentary parties. Sartre says that his past as the member of the national audit system has proven to him how much fraud the Rildanorian elites engange in and the current status quo has rotten to its very core, leading him to make this decision to enter politics, and lead the new movement for a radical change and return the responsible before the general population government.

Sartre will be joined by former left- and right-wing politicians, as well as non-partisan officials from the state and private structures, like the new party's likely deputy leader, Bertrand Coquelin, who has been a close ally of Sartre, as a former auditor himself, but in the nation's central bank. Coquelin has been voicing similar concerns about the growing financial and political fraud of the ruling elites, having been an insider from within, later de facto whistleblowing about the issues in the media, gaining media traction online among the youth.

As the party is being launched mere months before the upcoming presidential elections, the press was interested whether the newly-created political force would stand its own candidate in what can possibly be Sartre's first challenge as newcomer in politics. Former national auditor did not respond directly, but affirmed that it would likely not be him, while hinting at a possible candidacy of his ally, and party's deputy leader, Coquelin.

All in all, the new political force will become the furthest right new addition to the current political arena, while trying to win over both the traditional left and right, both urban and rural, youth and elderly, on a major anti-system message, talking about the "forgotten men and women" outside Tiralouse. So far, the hypothetical polling has put the DSV at around 2% in polling, still far away from the threshold, but enough to become a new prominent force, annoying the current status quo enforcers.
