EMPEROR SHOCKED AS HE WITNESSES OFFICIAL DIE FROM BRAIN ANEURYSM
13 December, 4380

TIAN'AN, Han Province: The Imperial Household Agency has announced that an official to the Imperial Court, Mr. Duan Ying, has died of a ruptured brain aneurysm during a meeting in the Inner Court of the Imperial Palace. A man of advanced age, sources say the official suddenly collapsed leading many to initially believe he had fainted due to the pressure of standing at attention for over an hour. After being whisked to the Palace Doctor, Mr. Duan was confirmed dead at 11:02 AM.

Due to the high profile nature of the death Mr. Duan's personal physician, Dr. Piyasakol Sakolsatayadorn, held a press conference following the autopsy explaining Mr. Duan's genetic predisposition to developing a brain aneurysm, as well as a recent and concerning MRI scan which seemed to indicate the growth of a non-ruptured aneurysm as early as last month.

Sources within the Imperial Palace have said that the Emperor was greatly disturbed by the sudden death of his official and has announced his intention to mourn privately for the next week.

Hall of Imposing Virtue, Inner Court, Imperial Palace, Tian'an, Han Province, Indrala
9:35 AM, 13 December 4380

The sound of ruffling fabric filled the marble-laden Hall of Imposing Virtue as robed Imperial Court officials shuffled into position. Despite the Jiaozhi Miracle pushing Indrala into the furthest reaches of technological development, modern electronics as well as western-style business suits and haircuts were strictly forbidden. Officials settled into their predetermined positions on the right and left of the chamber.

Though one would never say it out-loud, many of the officials often privately reflected on the futility of these meetings; it's not as though the Emperor has any political power. Nonetheless, his position as the Son of Heaven, the direct link between heaven and earth, commanded their complete veneration. After a moment, Emperor Yijun silently entered the hall taking his seat upon the throne. Upon his entrance, the officials dropped to the floor almost as one and shouted: "May the Emperor live and reign for ten thousand years, ten thousand years, ten thousand of ten thousand years!"

The officials had been gathered that morning to discuss the various university proposals the Emperor had put forward early in the spring. The Imperial Palace had been working diligently to secure funding for these new institutions from private organizations and individuals, so as to demonstrate the Emperor's dedication to education. All the officials deferentially stared at the floor while speaking to the Emperor. However, as the Chief Secretary of the Imperial Household Agency spoke, the sudden stumbling of an official into the centre of the hall directly in front of the Emperor caught everyone's attention.

Sweating and visibly nervous, the official spoke, gripping the silk panels of his robe. "Your Imperial Majesty," he stuttered. Two other officials rushed to grab him out of humiliation, but with a subtle, yet graceful motion of his wrist, the Emperor dismissed them. "Your Imperial Majesty, Heaven has selected you to reign over all Under Heaven and carried by the earth. Of this, there is no doubt."

"These truths told, the actions undertaken with regard to the Imperial Household conflict with your holy intent," the Official said, gathering more courage. "Although Your Imperial Majesty has promulgated an edict confirming the Crown Prince's marriage, and though this marriage has occurred, this subject dares not follow your imperial order. How can this be rectified?"

The officials in the Hall of Imposing Virtue could not believe their ears; an official of the Imperial Court being completely and directly insubordinate to the Son of Heaven. Ever the philosopher, the Emperor began to attempt an answer to the Official's question before he was disrupted by a sliver of light flashing across the ornate ceiling, a reflection from the Official's drawn dagger.

"Protect the Emperor!" shouted the Imperial Guards in unison, drawing their swords and surrounding the Son of Heaven. Additional guards tiled the doors, equipped with assault rifles -- the security of the holiest man in Indrala necessitated the use of some modern technology.

"Your Imperial Majesty. Unwilling to acknowledge your profound directives, I am a treasonous pig. But I must speak my mind; I fear that evil spirits are surrounding this sacred space, and that the Crown Prince, in his failings, has been possessed by this such spirits," said the Official.

"Silence!" shouted the Emperor, startling the other gathered officials. However, having already committed grave sins against the Son of Heaven, the Official had nothing to lose by continuing.

"Not prepared to watch the decline of this prosperous era, nor live with myself after having expressed such treasonous thoughts, there is only one action left to take," he said, raising his dagger to the air, "I must--"

The official was cut short by a bullet to the back of his head. The crack of the rifle startled not just those near to the Official, but if anyone had dared to look directly at the Emperor, they would have noticed the sheer expression of horror and shock across his ordinarily stoic and emotionless face.

Radicals Celebrate Death of Duan
December 4380, Tianan

Following recent revelations on the death of Inner Court member Duan Ying, some Civic Forum members have started celebrating across the nation. In one undisclosed concert hall in Han, radical members of Civic Forum has even went so far to organize a concert to perform songs of festivity. A video even recorded members saying the tragic death is 'a punishment from Jienzi himself', of which will soon be extented to the 'other imperialist scum'.

However, the leader of the radical faction, Zhang Wei has remained silent on the matter, whereas party leader Jiang Zongren condemned the behaviour, promising to kick members out of the party if necessary. It is simply unsure how such large scale activities are co-ordinated within the party without the support of any internal factions.

New Radicals Surface in Indrala
October 4381, Tianan

As politics in Indrala shifts quickly, the Civic Forum has undergone a rift in its party line. With the Liberal Party's close alignment with the Forum's economic line of pro-competition and pro-privatisation, and the Republican agenda's slow fade-out in the public realm, some radicals have decided to take to themselves to create a new Civic Forum.

Yesterday evening, the Youth Division leader of the Civic Forum, Tang Zijing called a surprise press conference, announcing the creation of an internal party movement called the 'Republican Revolution'. On the agenda, a re-focus on the Republican Agenda passed by the previous party conference, the establishment of a militia for Republicanism, and the exploration of a possible 'united front' with the Communists. However, on the upcoming leadership contest, he has not expressed wishes to contest, but said 'you will have to wait for that'.

Quote:Stop bothering me you m***********s!
- Jiang Zongren

Facing this news, the party leadership seemed shell-shocked as party leader Jiang Zongren sworn in front of a group of reporters in the party headquarters, while the Central Committee was convened in an emergency meeting. Zhang Wei, the leader of the radical faction of the Civic Forum, on the other hand announced his disapproval to the new group.

Quote:This Republican Revolution has been the clear act of the Civic Forum for the last ten years. I simply cannot understand how so many party members, especially the youth group, can simply ignore the progress that we have made in the Republican cause, expanding the political front through the new agenda, pushing legislation and gaining electoral success.
- Zhang Wei

With the new leadership contest scheduled for next year, this new Republican Revolution movement may reveal its strength. Currently, this is a truly big question mark on the future of the Civic Forum, and the entire Republican camp.

4381 Election Results
December 4381, Tianan

Election Results

As the election results roll in, the Civic Forum Headquarters erupted in celebration. An expected complete defeat of the party became what is an 'upset victory' to the Forum which started the evening dead last in the seat count. Jiang Zongren addressed his supporters, saying that the nation has correctly chosen the path towards Republicanism and Free Market Economics. On the other hand, youth front leader Tang Zijing said that the rise in support was due to the rising Republican movement, and calls the victory 'the justification for an All-Indralan Revolution for the establishment of a Sixth Republic'.

On the opposite side of the street, the Republican Revolution headquarters welcomed reporters from the Gongming Daily for a special visit. The headquarters seemed like a normal office like any other, but one interesting revelation is the posters scattered across the office seemed to point to a specific candidate for the upcoming leadership election.

A Mock-up of the posters seen in the Headquarters of Republican Revolution

Following some investigation, it is found that Chen Tianwei, the man on the poster, is a founding member of the Civic Forum. However, he has not been active in party or even national politics, and instead served as local council member in the province of Han, the stronghold of Civic Forum which they held until the election. He is a former servicemen, and was kicked out of the army following 'suspicious behaviour' in the forces. Contrary to the popular party line of Centrism and Anti-Jienism, he often refers to the traditional ideals of the nation, and voted many times against party-backed legislation of privatisation. If he is indeed the challenger to Jiang in the next leadership election, the party may see their political line shift like never before.

Indrala celebrates death of Dranian dictator Taeyang Sang-ah
Spontaneous street parties erupted across the nation as the government confirmed Dranian state media reports

A dragon dance is performed during one gathering in Tian'an

NATIONWIDE: Within half an hour of the Indralan government's confirmation of the death of the 103-year-old dictator, thousands of people flocked to streets and plazas across the nation to celebrate.

"Taeyang Sang-ah will be remembered as the leader of a totalitarian regime which has violated the basic rights of the Dranian people for nearly a century," said Chief Counselor Gao Yifen in a press conference, "While Taeyang is gone, sadly the oppression that was the hallmark of her era is not. We hope that with the death of this despicable despot, Dankuk will be able to turn a new leaf and ensure each of her citizens can walk the flower path."

In 4297, President Hong Seon-ki led a coup against the Federalist Party and the constitutional monarchs in Dankuk, declaring himself "God Emperor." The Indralan government refused to recognize his title, reaffirming their support for the constitutional monarchy, led by the House of Ryeo. Eventually, politicians within the Federalist Party and Democratic Progressive Party were able to purge Hong, restoring democratic rule to Dankuk. However, the wealthy and charismatic Taeyang Sang-ah, utilizing her connections, was groomed by Hong's party, the National Conservative Party, and eventually ran for and won the Presidency. Historical revisionism has emerged from Dankuk in recent years which claims that Taeyang lead a rebellion against Hong's leadership. In reality, Taeyang continued nearly all Hong-era policies, including constitutional amendments which weakened Dranian democracy.

During her administration, Taeyang again led an assault against her political opponents. Tens of thousands of Dranians went missing during her first administration, many of who have never been heard from. Taeyang won her second term amid an election which widely was viewed as "problematic." Following her second victory, hundreds of thousands of Dranian refugees began an exodus to Indrala. The House of Ryeo, Dranian monarchs for nearly a thousand years, were deposed and persecuted, eventually being extracted by members of the Ministry of State Security while in hiding.

Prominent Kyo-Indralans, popstar Jinsoo (left) and Lotus Party President and Foreign Affairs Minister Sung Hyo-rin

As a result, the death of Taeyang has been deeply emotional for many Kyo-Indralans. One of Indrala's top pop stars Jinsoo, a second-generation Kyo refugee, spoke at one street party in Kaizhou wherein he struggled to hold back tears.

"My ancestors fled under Taeyang's brutal rule," said Jinsoo, "I hope that young people in Dankuk will seize this moment and help write a new chapter in history; that of a Dankuk which is free, democratic, and prosperous."

Another prominent Kyo-Indralan, the Lotus Party President and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sung Hyo-rin responded to the news alongside the Chief Counselor, before responding to comments from Dranian Foreign Minister Marian Lohmille.

"Our government took a justified and righteous stand against the Dranian dictatorship with the Dankuk Act and we will continue to do so," Sung said, referring to the wide-reaching sanctions legislation passed in 4348, "should Ms. Lohmille choose to enter Indrala she will be arrested swiftly in accordance with article 7."

When asked whether the government would consider closer military ties to Dankuk, as suggested by the Dranian Minister, Sung laughed before saying, "you're joking, right?"

In a rare public expression, the Imperial Palace joined in the festivities, launching fireworks from a bridge turret. The Emperor is a direct matrilineal descendant of the deposed House of Ryeo and as such has many ties to the former Dranian monarchs.

'Purple Wave' For Qiao's Nationalist Alliance
March 2nd 4382

Above: Leader of the Nationalist Alliance, Qiao Xinyi, meeting constituents after the election result.

With the election results all counted and certified, the new Nationalist Alliance (民族主义联盟) - led by Qiao Xinyi - has won a striking 87 seats and 6.7 million votes. This makes the centre-right to right-wing party the joint-second largest in the Grand Assembly (大會), having increased their seat share more than any other party. Nicknamed the 'purple wave' by political commentators, many previous non-voters and more radical Lotus Party supporters switched to Qiao and her alliance. The party's biggest victory came from Han Province (汉州), where the party won 47 seats and over 34% of the vote - casting a large shadow over the second-placed Civic Forum. The party did not put forward candidates in Shu Province (舒州), and so won no seats there, yet managed to win 10 seats from the central provinces of Min (岷州) and Anle (安樂州). The party came second with 30 votes and 2.5 million votes in Jiaozhi Province (交趾州).

Qiao's campaign focused on Han and Jiaozhi, and that was clearly reflected in the results. The Nationalist Alliance played to the religious communities in these areas, particularly in rural areas that follow traditional religions but also in cities with growing Hosian populations. The most interesting victory for the party was in the capital of Tian'an, with local elections and assembly elections showing strong returns, particularly among the sizeable Hosian minority who were happy to see a national leader finally sharing their faith. Of the 1 million Hosian voters in Indrala, 700,000 voted for the Nationalist Alliance - representing around a dozen seats handed to the NA. 10 of the party's 87 Assembly members will be Hosians, and there will be the most Hosians in Indrala's legislature in hundreds of years. Other key demographics who went out to vote for the NA were rural people, young people and people who lean towards being, but are not solidly, monarchist.

How a party that could not even organise to stand in a whole province was able to make such a wave is not entirely a mystery, as the right-wing in Indrala has long been underrepresented in the Assembly. Begrudgingly, many on the right have gotten used to supporting the least worst option, but now they and those who have not previously voted 'gave a thunderous mandate to change in Indrala', according to Shi Qigang - National Alliance spokesperson for Infrastructure and Transport and a prospective future minister of said department. Qigang told his constituents in Jiaozhi that 'there is clearly still a large number of people disenchanted with politics, and to them I say: vote, vote, vote!'. 'Vote, Vote, Vote!' was one campaign slogan used by NA candidates in rural areas, were many of the parties members come from. The party has a strong base of support from all sorts of demographics.

Qiao called her party's results 'remarkable' and 'representative of the extreme levels of discontent among our people'. She also vowed to work for her constituents in Han province as their 'representative and voice in the Assembly, arguing for reform and popular policies'. Qiao is tipped to be heading for a top role in government if one is organised, with one proposal in vote currently giving her the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Her rise from poor prostitute to born-again Hosian to business leader to political phenomenon has given her a new nickname among the press: 'the elastic lady'. No matter how far you stretch her, she'll bounce back and probably hit you in the eye. Metaphorically speaking, of course. Regardless of financial and resource constraints on the National Alliance's campaign, the party now is the largest on the right in Indrala. Only time will tell if it stays that way.

Here is a full breakdown of the results from the National Telegraph:

Following major electoral losses, Lotus Party's Gao Yifen says focus is on Indralans

Gao poses for a photo with a local merchant in Hazhou, Shu Province

TIAN'AN, Han: Following a devastating election, former-Chief Counselor and Leader of the Lotus Party Gao Yifen says that the "focus must be on Indralans."

The Lotus Party suffered the greatest losses last night, bleeding support to the new Nationalist Alliance, Liberal and Reform parties. The oldest active political party in Indrala, the Lotus Party has long been susceptible to vote-splitting with new parties.

"We will be unwavering in our pursuit of better future for Indralans," said Gao to a room of downtrodden supporters. Gao did not resign from the leadership of his party last night, as some might have expected. Instead, Gao urged parties to work together and "chill" the tempers of radicalism in Indralan politics.

Today, Gao spent time speaking with citizens in Shu Province where the party gained its highest level of support. Here, Gao pledged to introduce legislation to improve the condition of "the middle-class, and those working hard to join it."

Government coalition negotiations have been tense, with a wider variety of parties bartering for power than has been seen in recent history. It appears that a "consensus" coalition has emerged between monarchist parties seeking to keep the radical Communist and Civic Forum parties out of power.

A New Route for the Civic Forum
April 4382, Tianan

Chen Tianwei leaving the Conference Center

Yesterday in Tian'an, the Civic Forum held its third Party Congress with record turnout as over ten thousand Forum members packed the Conference Centre full with a sea of orange. Alongside the leadership contest, a Party Constitution Re-write was proposed in the Conference which will lead the Civic Forum into a completely new route. Chen Tianwei, the challenger to Jiang, is of course in the centre of it all, calling for a 'Jienist Republican' route and the end of 'Clans, Caizu and the Corruption of Jienist Ideals'.

On the other hand, Jiang Zongren has remained relatively low profile in this campaign, and instead turned to a nationwide tour to visit local members of the Civic Forum, of whom he hoped are more moderate and loyal to Jiang's nine-year leadership over the Forum. When facing reporters, he stressed on his success in growing the Civic Forum into the second force for Republicanism that has equivalent influence over politics as their Communist counterparts.

Election Results

After the declaration of official results, Chen did not even spare time to stop for a speech, and instead moved to immediately vote on the amendment of the Party Constitution. The radical amendment proposed by the Youth Wing of the Forum would not only rename the party into the 'Republican League for an All-Indralan Revolution', and change the colours to the republican red and blue, but also create a highly centralised party central, with an all-powerful chairman.

Quote:Article 4
Party members must follow the instructions of the League ... in the study of Chen Tianwei thought ... and when necessary, the formation of an armed forces against anti-revolutionary oppressors.
Article 9
... Only the Chairman shall be able to call upon elections of leadership ...
Article 14
... The interpretation of this Constitution shall lie on the ... chairman presiding the Central Revolutionary Committee ...
- Amendments to the Party Constitution

New Logo of the Party

In under four hours, the entire party has shifted completely in line, with a new leader, new name and new logo. Following the completion of the Party Constitution Amendment, the leader Chen Tianwei went up the stage to address the rowdy crowds, promising a new leadership that would fully co-operate with the Communists in the Republican cause in a 'United Front'. It is also said that a new Manifesto replacing the 'Republican Manifesto' would be created to make way for Jienist and Authoritarian thought in the party.

COAST GUARD TURNS DRANIAN 'DIPLOMATS' AROUND
24 November, 4382

Indralan Coast Guard and the Sekowan-registered trawler

South-east of Dalibor: Acting on intellengence gathered by the Ministry of State Security and Dranian regime media reports, the Indralan Coast Guard intercepted a Sekowo registered fishing trawler off the coast of Dalibor. The ship was carrying a number of Dranian agents who were attempting to illegally enter Indrala. Upon boarding, the Coast Guard says that the trawler was found to be low on fuel and food, likely to not complete the trip regardless of the Coast Guard's intervention. The Indralan Coast Guard provided supplies to the vessal and forced it back north. Commenting on the affairs, Foreign Minister Sung Hyo-rin said "if these so-called diplomats want to have a conversation, they shouldn't start by breaking our laws."

New Manifesto Launched

Today, the Chairman of the League announced the new Manifesto to guide a new path to the Republican Revolution, and also Indrala. In this new Manifesto, the Chen Tianwei Thought or the Outline for a National Revolution for a Republican Government was included to supplement the Three People's Principles as proposed by our forefathers. Jienism, Equality, Discipline and Independence will be the party's new agenda for the way forward.

Following is key parts of the Manifesto.

Quote:THREE PEOPLE’S PRINCIPLES
The Three People’s Principles shall be the guiding ideology for the League.

PEOPLE’S NATION, is the creation of a new state under Jienist ideals but not feudalist traditions. The great ethnicities of Indrala must work together to ensure the great continuation of our independence, spiritually, economically and militarily. Spiritual independence is created when we follow the true teachings of Jienzi, to be virtuous and respectful, and to care for others. Economic independence is created when we build the state of People’s Livelihoods, and prevent the intervention of foreign nations. Military independence is the necessity of maintaining a strong armed forces against any threat that may arrive upon our shores.

PEOPLE’S RIGHTS, is achieved by creating a stable and hierarchical state among people. Only can an orderly state protect people’s rights to live in freedom with Indralan identity. Thus, we applaud the Fourth Republic’s great leader Tony Pua who lengthened term limits, legalized torture, and struck down disorderly protest, of which brought strong and stable leadership to the nation. On the other hand, a hierarchical state must be created to Jienzi’s beliefs. Only when each man know their part, can the people truly enjoy their own positions and privileges.

PEOPLE’S LIVELIHOODS, is the building of a resourceful and equal nation. Through the years, Indralans have not fully utilized our great island filled with the bounty of nature. One crucial step to improve people’s livelihoods would be for us to become resourceful and utilize the gifts of nature. Furthermore, an equal state must be established with the elimination of the clans. Jienzi has taught us that any man who has protected his innate goodness is noble, while the clans and Caizu are families who have gathered wealth for hundreds of years, to have never given them to the good and noble, but only passed them onwards to their sons and daughters. Thus, an equal state must be realized through the elimination of clans and Caizu.

OUTLINE FOR A NATIONAL REVOLUTION FOR A REPUBLICAN GOVERNMENT
REPUBLICANISM is the link of the Three People’s Principles.

To create a PEOPLE’S NATION, we must first break down the revisionist authority of Jienism that has blocked the people from the truth of Jienzi. The Imperial House has held moral authority yet has not served its purpose to revive his ideals to our land, liberalizing civil rights and allowing people to go out of their positions.

To protect PEOPLE’S RIGHTS, we must first break down the symbolism of the end of the Fifth Republic. The Republic has been the torchlight for an orderly rule of our nation, while we have seen nothing more than political chaos in Indrala under the imperial house. The House may have been a traditional institution, but it is nothing but a carrier of Jienist thought, and as it fails to do so today, it shall fall.

To improve PEOPLE’S LIVELIHOODS, we must first break down the economic domination of large Caizus and clans. The Imperial House is one of the greatest and richest clan in our nation, and it has not followed the meritocratic ways Jienzi taught us. This is not the preservation of Indralan ideals, but a play.

THE HEAVENLY MANDATE, as deemed by the establishment today, is simply incoherent with the teachings of Jienzi. The Great Teacher has taught all his life to be meritocratic, to be in positions each according to their own ability. Yet the Heavenly Mandate rejects this point by establishing a family line, implying that they are greater already to any man, without the great transformation of education and learning. Thus, we shall only be loyal to the ruler if he is the able among us all, elected to the office of authority by the masses who recognize his great virtue.

REPUBLICANISM, as means of achieving the Jienist ideal may seem counter-intuitive at first, but it is truly the first step to re-establish hierarchy, meritocracy, filial piety and so many more great teachings. A revolution, shall be the only step taken in our position and responsibility as sons and daughters of the great generations that have preceded us on this land.
