Galdes-Bajada set to replace Levanzin in aftermath of PLR wipeout

Qart Qildar, Cildania - Edera Galdes-Bajada has been chosen as the new leader of the Radical Labour Party after the party hit a record in terms of number of votes and seats at the most recent general election. Galdes-Bajada was elected unopposed following the resignation of Mattew Levanzin.

Mrs. Galdes-Bajada has been a key figure in the party for almost 20 years and is seen as a steady pair of hands after a tumultuous few years in which the PLR has suffered two catastrophic election defeats. Her party’s remaining Deputies expressed unanimous confidence in her ability to lead them going forward.

In a speech before the media Galdes-Bajada said, “whilst I am ever so grateful and honoured to have been chosen by my colleagues as the next leader of the Radical Labour Party, this is by no means the circumstances that I am happy to see this party in. These past two election results have been disastrous for us and something has got to change.”

She further continued, “It is time for the PLR to encourage a program that supports economic growth, supports social freedoms & appeals to a broad base of Cildanian society. We want to support every citizen, whether Gziri, Hebilean or Yeudi, to be able to achieve the best for themselves and their family.”

She finished off her speech by saying, “there is a long road ahead of us now and I am not sure what will happen next but all I ask for is the full support of my colleagues, the party members and hopefully the electorate.”

With the next government still uncertain it remains to be seen if the PLR, now led by the incumbent Education & Culture Minister, will have any role to play in it.

Though he is the most detested and disgraceful "man" in Cildanian politics and should be in prison, the evil one himself rises again to scam our decent people out of their hard-won democracy. The verminous and corrupt Prime Minister Guiliano Alagona has blatantly struck a corrupt bargain with communists to escape the prison sentence he so richly deserves. He is no doubt aware that his time at the top of Cildanian politics is over! The electorate tires of his lies and his failures and has clearly voted against him and his perverse lackey Sigis-something Falzon. Despite this, our beautiful nation will be doomed to the fate of this monster walking free on our streets unless we do rise up!

The far-left - who are desperate to gain power so they can legalise late-term abortions and homosexual marriage - have clearly jumped at the chance to seize the levers of state and install a commie moron in the Prime Minister's chair! In exchange for a blind eye to the crimes of the previous regime, the Alliance for Beiteynu as I call them will support a government so extreme that even the barbarous Kizenians would shy away in fear.

Alagona is a known villainous sexual predator and coordinator of organised crime and international Yeudism across our continent under the orders of his Beiteynu paymaster-handlers. As soon as a schoolgirl turns 18, she is no longer safe from his dirty, grubby little hands! If we do not stand up for the sanctity of marriage and the innocence of our daughters, he and noted bestiality-enthusiast Sig*******ndo Falzon will continue conspiring with the mob, the Beiteynuese and the homosexual activists to destroy our country and persecute Hosians!

Left-wing minority government approved in Cildania following indecisive election
15 September 5337

After months of negotiations, a new government has been inaugurated in Cildania. Elections at the beginning of the year did not deliver a conclusive outcome. The new government is an unusual compromise. Two left-wing parties, the Movement for Freedom and Democracy (MLD) and the Radical Labour Party (PLR), will form the government. Together they hold fewer than a quarter of the seats in the Council of Deputies. Confidence and supply will be provided by the Alliance for Cildania (AgK), a political alliance including Alagona Faction (FA) and the Constitutionalist Party (PK).

In the aftermath of the election, it appeared that a centre-right coalition might emerge. Discussions were ongoing between the AgK and two right-wing parties: People’s Choice (GtP) and One Flag (BW). The latter two parties agreed after the election to form a new political alliance called the Community (iK). Negotiations reportedly broke down over personal disagreements between the two alliances.

At that point, iK announced they would attempt to form a government led by the far-right Order of Saint Sebastian (OtSB). Since entering the Council of Deputies eleven years ago, the OtSB has never been included in government. Originating as an illegal paramilitary force, the party’s success has been linked to a rise in anti-Yeudi violence. A series of emergency talks were held between the AgK, the MLD and the PLR. Eventually the current deal was agreed.

The new government will require the support of multiple opposition parties to pass legislation. The next general election is not scheduled for over four years. Even optimistic commentators would have to concede that the arrangement does not appear robust enough to last that long. After a period of stability under previous Prime Minister Guiliano Alagona, it appears Cildania might be destined for yet more political turbulence.

POLICE AND PROTESTORS CLASH AS CABINET ANNOUNCEMENT PROTESTS TURN VIOLENT

15 September 5337 - The January 5337 elections caused discontent across the benches in the Council of Deputies. With Alagona and the Consitutionalists under Falzon openly attacking the Order of Saint Sebastian, insisting on calling them neo-fascist even since the 5335 rebrand of the party and major media publications going along with this rhetoric tensions were already high. With the Order of Saint Sebastian nominally winning elections and One Flag as well as People's Choice supporting efforts to see a centre-right government form the voter base of said parties were surprised when a far-left cabinet with AgK (FA and PK alliance) suddenly appeared. The right-wing voter base, encouraged by blogs such as Ir-Reżistenza and Il-Veritá Iebsa, started protesting. They were not alone, as many across Cildania were unhappy with the new cabinet. The unstable coalition that has been dubbed 'Alagona's House of Cards' by prize-winning HtS journalist Massimiljanu Coleiro may even face rebellions on the inside as some more right-leaning Deputies fear the far-left policies that the new cabinet will draft.

While sporadic protests had been happening for months the streets filled at the new cabinet announcement. Former OtSB Deputy Valentinu Pizzuto, recently removed as a part of Zammit-Barca's 'anti-fascist purges', called upon followers of the disappeared Rizzo to take to the streets and "take our country back". With thousands filling the streets the National Police opted to send in their anti-riot squads as a precaution, a move that was seen by many as the government's attempt to silence the protesters. It did not take long for violence to erupt, with protesters and police clashing across Qart Qildar. Shops were looted, cars were set ablaze, police officers were beaten. An anonymous man referring to himself as 'Ponn' has claimed leadership of the more violent protesters and is, in his words, leading an "offensive against the corrupt state". Some sources identify Ponn as a senior figure within the neo-fascist Righteous Men movement. So far the police has been unable to regain control of many streets in Qart Qildar as the violence continues throughout the night.

ZAMMIT-BARCA CALLS FOR ORDER: "GO HOME, THE ONLY WAY TO DEFEAT THEM IS IN PARLIAMENT."

15 September 5337 - Election winner and leader of the Order of Saint Sebastian Dumniku Zammit-Barca has called for protesters to go home and stop "destroying our ancient capital". Zammit-Barca declared great disappointment in the course of the negotiations towards a new coalition and openly stated he wished "to go in those backrooms and wring their ignorant necks" but insists these are only "words of frustration". "Like my colleague Falzon I am a man of strong words, a man of emotions that I am not afraid to hide when it is about matters that I truly believe in." Zammit-Barca won the elections in January and seemed close to a coalition, after which the far-left Radical Labour Party abruptly left the talks. "My father once said to never trust a socialist, I was hoping he was wrong," said a disappointed Zammit-Barca after the announcement of the new coalition.

Nonetheless he has condemned the current riots across the nation's capital: "What is happening in my city right now is a true disgrace. I truly hope that as Cildanians we are better than this. As a former police officer I believe in law and order, the streets should at all times be a peaceful place for every citizen." In support of their party leader many OtSB Deputies went onto social media to share their disapproval of the riots, with prominent party Deputy Beatriċi Romano openly blaming the protestors for the current predicament: "Had you been out voting for Dumniku we would be in government now."

The Order of Saint Sebastian has recently put big emphasize on being a "decent family party" and is trying to shake their anti-democratic and anti-Yeudi roots, with their newest Deputy being the Yeudi doctor Mosè Eradi of the Qildarmim district. In a last ditch effort to calm down the protests Dumniku Zammit-Barca put out a a direct address to the protesters: "Go home, the only way to defeat our political enemies is in parliament or by calling upon the police and military when they break the law. All this is a part of being a democracy. Go. Home."

"CONSIDERABLE RISK" FOR FAMILIES OF PROMINENT POLITICIANS SAYS NATIONAL POLICE

16 September 5337 - With a day of protests wreaking havoc across Qart Qildar further smaller protests have erupted in other large cities like Amat, Keret and Santa Alexandra. Anarchist, far-right, and other anti-government groups have made good use of the previous 24 hours of chaos by going on the streets. Criminal street gangs have resorted to looting and in Qart Qildar's Yeudi district there are unconfirmed reports of Yeudi shopkeepers opening fire on looters. The police have so far not handed out official statements on the progress of the riots but have warned about violence against families of prominent politicians.

"We believe certain families of certain politicians are at a considerable risk and we have advised them to lay low and accept further police protection," said section chief Alwiġi Manche of the National Police. 24/7 News sources claim that both left-wing and right-wing politicians are a target. In a leaked list Alagona's wife has come up as a potential target for the Righteous Men, with one message submitted as evidence stating "the bimbo b--ch must die". The OtSB's Dumniku Zammit-Barca is also a target, having been named a "traitor to the legacy of Rizzo." Zammit-Barca was previously a high profile target for organized crime, but now also seems to be able to count the neo-fascists amongst his enemies. The police have assured appropriate measures will and have been taken to assure the safety of "all those who were named".

PK’s Falzon and Gilzon Governor Matrenza propose party pledge to lower tension in wake of riots
"Kesep Agreement" binds parties to supporting democracy and non-violent approach to politics

Kesep, Gilzon Principality: The confirmation of Prime Minister Ġilju Vassallo has been met with violent riots in Cildania's ancient capital city, instigated by far-right bloggers and politicians such as former Order of Saint Sebastian (OtSB) Dep. Valentinu Pizzuto. Meanwhile, members of the illegal neo-fascist paramilitary group "the Righteous Men" have been identified among those looting shops, burning cars, and beating police officers.

In response to the violence in Qart Qildar, Constitutionalist Party (PK) leader Dep. Sigismondo Falzon and Gilzon Governor Kalċidon Matrenza have proposed a set of principles to be adopted by Cildania's major political parties, intended to lower tensions across the political spectrum. Speaking to reporters from the summer residence of Dep. Falzon—a sprawling castle-vineyard complex with an adjacent hamlet named after the elder statesman—the two men shared their four-point code, which they've called the 'Kesep Agreement.'

In signing the agreement, parties would agree to resolve their differences through "a framework of mutual respect, dialogue, and democracy—never through confrontation and violence." Moreover, the Kesep Agreement would bind parties to agree that "Cildania is the homeland of all her people and shall remain so forever," thereby rejecting the politics of ethnonationalism or sectarianism. Governor Stiefnu Gauci-Saliba (PK) of Aqildar was unable to attend the meeting at Kastell ta' Falzon, as he was preoccupied overseeing anti-riot operations at the Aqildar Principality Police Force HQ. Nevertheless, Governor Gauci-Saliba send a statement in support of the Kesep Agreement, pledging to abide by its principles.

Dep. Falzon announced that he planned to introduce the Kesep Agreement in the Council of Deputies within the week. Shortly thereafter, Dep. Falzon called on the newly-confirmed MLD-PLR government to take more forceful action in response to the riots, in order to restore law and order:

"Minister Sirocca? Hello? The f-cking capital is on fire! You wanna get in there and crack some f-ckin' skulls already?!" shouted Falzon at reporters. "These groups are breaking the law... These "Right Ass-Men" should all be locked up under the PEP Act, and Pizzuto should be f-ckin' hanged, drawn and quartered for treason, ok? Also, where the f-ck is the Civil Guard?"

Analysts have suggested that the motivation behind the Kesep Agreement is to test the sincerity of the OtSB, which has sought to attain acceptance as a mainstream political party, in renouncing its extreme anti-democratic origins. Under the leadership of Dumniku Zammit-Barca, the once declaredly neo-fascist movement has moderated considerably though its reputation remains deeply damaged by its past, particularly within more centrist and liberal circles. This was made manifest by the decision of the Alliance of Cildania (AgK) to support a minority left-wing government over a "fascist" OtSB government, a move which provoked the right-wing rage behind the riots.

Ramal, Gilzon: Governor Kalċidon Matrenza, of the Principality of Gilzon, has come out as gay during a nationally-televised appearance on KKX's Spiru Dahmani Tonight. In so doing, Governor Matrenza has become the first openly-gay elected official in Cildania's democratic period.

"It is my responsibility as a public official in this country, before the citizens and my comrades in the LGBTQ community, to announce proudly that I am gay," said Matrenza to the applause of the studio audience. Host of the program Spiru Dahmani, known for his socially liberal views, applauded the lawmaker's decision to publicly declare his sexuality in the conservative island nation, stating that "lost souls across Cildania will find strength from [Matrenza's] bravery today."

Governor Matrenza stated his decision came with much thought and consideration, and with respect for the divisions which exist over the acceptance of sexual and gender minorities in Cildania. "I believe that the private lives of individuals should remain private, and do not wish to force anything on those with deeply held conservative and religious beliefs," explained Matrenza, "but I must do this for reasons which are personal, for I fear I learned far too late in life how to express love in the most authentic and human way I can, and for reasons which are political—to be transparent in my personal stake in the struggle for the rights of all to be recognized before the law."

Governor Matrenza's public announcement comes as LGBTQ+ rights in Cildania have gradually improved in the democratic era, with public opinion polls reflect increasingly liberal attitudes toward LGBTQ+ rights among Cildanians at large. The social democratic Governor, as leader of the regional Workers' Party of Gilzon (PtĦ), is a member of the Alliance for Cildania (AgK) political coalition, which at the national level consists of the Alagona Faction (FA) and the Constitutionalist Party (PK), two parties which have supported expanded LGBTQ+ rights. The bill gained the support of all parties except the right-wing Order of Saint Sebastian (OtSB), the most conservative national party in the Council of Deputies.
