Quote:Right so today I speak on behalf of the United Republic of Likatonia, may I begin by thanking our Gaduridos friends for organizing this summit. The Seleyan Economics community is a force for good in Seleya it has united us with a common purpose. But first let me acknowledge where we are at, 16 years on since Likatonia became a member of the SEC, it has begun to take shape with nearly all of the Seleyan continent bar 3 outliers signed up. A key element of the SEC is the free movement of labour, goods and services within the bloc this helps to increase labour mobility, it is fundamental to our shared prosperity. The Elliott administration is fully committed to advancing our vision for seleyan economics, Seleya must attract the jobs of the future to do this we must begin by working together to close skills gaps that are holding our continent back. We must harness the power of technology and use it to bring about positive change. In conclusion let me just say this we are committed to friendship and peace with all of our neighbours and we will welcome any attempt at increasing collaboration between signatory states. We look forward to the rest of this summit to discuss the SEC's future.

Quote:We thank the Gaduri government for their effort to create this oppurtunity for better cooperation and trade Possebilities. We do have some concerns in the free trade agreements as we are concerned with the recent developments in Kundrati, it has nothing to do with Selaya, but we know that some have and are visiting the summit of the new far right government, and as Kundrati has some trading in Selaya, it worries us that it will affect our own trading and our human ideals, as in is free trade, more important then human values? For now, we will take our seat at the table and hear all members out and their proposals.

Quote:Esteemed delegates, welcome.
Whilst we wait for other delegates, I would like to take this moment to address current concerns, and express my own personal gratitude for coming to this summit.
To start, honourable representative from Rildanor, Leroy. We ask that all your concerns are stated. We want to create a new SEC that will benefit all of Seleya. As for Kundrati. What is happening there is unfortunate, but they are not a Seleyan state. They may have trade partners, but the SEC, at its core is a treaty for Seleya. No other continent. Again, what is happening is unfortunate. But they are not affected by the SEC, and neither is Seleya. Maybe on an individual level but the SEC won't force hands.
In any case, I'd like to thank all delegates for arriving safely and showing interest in attending the summit. The SEC is a grand vision for all Seleyans. And it is reassuring to know that there is support for a Pan-Seleyan Project. As we wait for other delegates to arrive, please lay out any concerns your nation has regarding the SEC and how it can be improved.

We are ready to support new initiatives that could benefit us all.
We do share Rildanor's concern about malignant influence and also appreciate clarification of the actual scope of this organization.

Thomas Andrews, Special Representative of Lodamun to the SEC Summit
Quote:I'd like to first thank the representative from Gaduridos, Prime Minister Montenegro for initiating these proceedings. It is our view that regional integration, regardless of its extent, stands as a net benefit. Lodamun has always and will continue to support any and all initiatives that advance regional integration among the like-minded states of Seleya. The Trans-Seleyan Railroad stands as a crucial pillar of regionalism within Seleya and ought to be held up as an example of what it [integration/cooperation] is capable of. We place our support behind the idea of a continent-wide trade zone, wherein we eliminate barriers to trade which might otherwise hinder the fair movement of goods and services. We are excited to be part of this journey to transform Seleya.

It would seem our biggest concern regarding the SEC is trade on a continental level, and malicious actors. As such, let's go more into these concerns. Let's handle trade on a continental level first.
Everyone has a different view on trade, and with continental trade, everyone will have a view. I want to know what our other delegates think regarding this aspect of the SEC, and what they would like to see out of the SEC regarding trade.

Clarice Beaufort, High Diplomat and Representative of Her Royal & Imperial Majesty's Government of the Commonwealth of Mordusia
Quote:Dear collegues,
Our Commonwealth has listened and waited to respond to this, but we find it high time that we add our piece to the conversation. Various questions come to mind when talking about this treaty. We find it highly difficult to proceed with negotiating a free trade treaty if we cannot agree on embargo's and how other treaties affects it. Secondly we have concerns in regards to these embargo's, we differ on foreign policy. What if one of us sides with another party? What then?
Another question is on unfair competition. Some nations heavily subsidise their industries, the costs of production will be lower for them, allowing them to dump products on the market at which local industries wouldnt be able to compete. That would destroy local industry. Free trade must be free from unreasonable government interference, taxes or subsidies. If we cannot agree to that we should have a mechanism to apply tarriffs to nations who give subsidies to industries for goods they export.
