Meeting between representatives of the governments of the Davostag Republic and the Kundrati Union | Kivonia, Davostag | July 5629
Attending the meeting on behalf of Davostag is Secretary of Foreign Trade and Cooperation Sigrid Torsdotter and Secretary of the State Council Robert Fridhjälm
Attending the meeting on behalf of Kundrati is Representative of the President of the Kundrati Union Aleksandr Palojoni and the Representative of the Foreign Minister of the Kundrati Union Urano Echea.
"Welcome, to our great Kivonia. I am sure you don't mind that the Secretary of the State Council and special advisor to the rikspresident, Robert Fridhjälm joins us" says Torsdotter as she holds out her hand to greet the representatives.
The two Kundrati representatives shake Torsdotter's hand.
Echea: "We don't mind at all."
Palojoni: "Nice to meet you both. We're glad to be in Kivonia."
Torsdotter gestures for the two to take a seat at the table. "So, should we begin? From our view it is highly unfortunate that things have turned out this way, but as you know, with the Kundrati Union having administered the mainland for a long period of time, there are many ethnic Davostagers there which we are concerned over and thus has forced us to take measures for their safety."
As both sides take a seat, Echea and Palojoni grab their notepads and pens to take notes.
Echea: "Yes. And for a very long period of time, since your last King evacuated to Kundrati, there was an understanding between our countries to put Davostager-Kundrati safety above all else. The fascist government and the Invasion of the Homeland has complicated everything."
Palojoni: "We still have some Davostager-Kundratis, a small amount, in the Free Zone. We hear the majority are back in the mainland, so my government understands some of your government's... actions regarding your diplomacy."
Echea: "President Tiberius Claudius Nero is also especially concerned that ideology and current events may blind your Rikspresident and their government in how to deal with the Legionary bandits."
Torsdotter: "Concerning our vie..."
Fridhjälm: "Our government is a government by Davostagers for Davostagers. It's as simple as that. Sure we have made hard decisions, difficult decisions and perhaps... morally ambiguous decisions. For us we have done and continue to do what is necessary for the security of all our brothers and sisters."
Torsdotter: "... we...uhm..." clears throat "A-at the end of the day, this is a precarious situation, we are doing the best we can out of this situation. But, things are moving quite fast now, tides are changing and we all try to adapt for it. The rikspresident is a practical man and we..." takes a stern look at Fridhjälm before turning back to Echea "...are always open to the wisdoms of experience. Which you're government obviously possess."
Palojoni: after taking notes
"We are understanding people. The experience we have had with the Legion, which is a similar experience that our parents had with them, is that they will never be your friend. Even before this shameful invasion, there were labor camps, there were forced laborers sent to Likatonia for example, and that's one thing that we know from their prior news releases."
Echea: "At best, unfortunately, the so-called supreme leader Lazar will be using your country, and the minorities, as a pawn. String them along and not subject them to the most heinous of evils when you give them what they want. Otherwise they might as well be another meat-filled bag in this clog that runs the bandit's ship. And the Davostag-Kundrati community is a million, maybe a small bit more, at best. There's more Dundorfians or Endralonians. I wouldn't be surprised if they demanded Davostag do something about the Hutori blockade."
Torsdotter: "Well, they did essentially demand that in a recent meeting I attended with a certain former commissar Dragovich. We have made it clear that we do not intend on acting violently with the Hutorians, but will keep the trade of goods going. We have chosen our way of interacting with them, and it is better we stay this course for the time being, while reacting and adapting to any changes."
Fridhjälm: "To add. It might be so that they are using the Kundrati Davostagers as pawns, but rather that than see them exterminated. What we've done is allow for greater leeway to act on the situation."
Echea: "The problem is, Fridjhaelm sir, they're already going to be exterminated. Whatever means of their extermination is up to the Legion. And for all we know, the Legion could be telling you one thing and doing another. The best thing you can do under that circumstance is buy time, but the Legion is one party that refuses to clarify how much time you have."
Palojoni: after taking notes "And, let's be fair, you have the card. Yes, your people may be exterminated. But then what will happen if, say, you attacked the mainland to rescue them? Would the international community really care if Mr. Lazar died by a Davostager bullet and this pain in the behind went away under your hand? Without your current trade, their economy will merely collapse into the rubble it already rests on."
Suddenly a young woman enters the room and whispers something in Fridhjälm's ear. At that moment Echea receives a call. As Fridhjälm turns to whisper to Torsdotter, Echea ends the call, notifies Palojoni, and the four rises from their chairs all now aware of the situation as Legionary Kundrati has announced further escalations at that very moment. The four agree to reschedule the meeting to a better date, after proper assessments of the new circumstances.
