5636: Not a meeting (Hutori)
#1
Bekenial, Hutori - February 2, 5636 | 08:39AM

Fucking arctic countries.

She stepped out of the jet onto the tarmac and was immediately swept away by the most brutal and freezing ass sneaky wind she had ever felt in her life, all the while cursing silently with pursed lips.

She cursed the thieves; the pretenders, and her idiot of an ancestor. Oh, Eli.

A black SUV sat there, engine running.

The SUV was manned by a pair of gentlemen in dark business suits and mirrored sunglasses. If anyone else knew them they would assumed them to be private security. The seal of the Hutorian Royal Family on their labels revealed them as member of the Hutorian Royal Guard.

They ushered their charge into the vehicle after verifying her identity without much fanfare.

They drove from the airport through Hutori's capital, but rather then enter the city center they drove into Riverside Heights, one of the most affluent suburbs of Bekenial. Passed the residences of Ambassadors and other dignitaries onto Orange Avenue. They drove without breaking past 24 Orange Avenue to an address even more secure not far from there.

They were taken past the heavily armed and protect gates, up the long drive way Prime Ministers and foreign dignitaries had long made to the entrance of a grand manor; Steuart House, the personal residence of the Hutorian Royal Family.

The Royal Guard open the door. "We are here ma'am."

Steuart House, Riverside Heights, Bekenial, Hutori - February 2, 5636 | 09:57AM

One of the suits opened her door, gesturing towards the house entrance. The cold breeze, yet again, violating her senses. She stepped out and hurried inside, carrying a spark in her eyes and wearing a business-like demeanour she had better cast away if she wanted this to work.

She was unimpressed by the drive and the manor; after all, the other of the Kadmonim were the ones who had forgotten the marvels of the Holy Land's aridness, bringing their shitty "minimal" Dundorfian and northern architecture trends to the cultural neighbourhoods of Yishelem.

Not her. And certainly not her Majatran kin.

Almost chuckling, she stood at the entrance, pretending to be in awe of the interior, one single thought permeating her mind like a drill.

Was it here?

Steuart House, Bekenial, Hutori

The mysterious guest was ushered into the entrance. Unlike Newport Castle in downtown Bekenial, Steuart House had always been seen as a retreat and a home for the Royal Family, rather then a residence to do business.

But then that made it the perfect setting for meetings that didn't exist.

The guest was brought into the drawing room. A roaring fire kept the cold at bay. Two chairs were set up near by to the fire. Both current empty. Five were in the room, four of them were more Royal Guard.

The last was an older man in his early sixties. His clothing could best be described as business casual. If the cold bothered him, he gave no indication.

He turned when his guest was allowed into the room. "Welcome to my home." King Charles III said gesturing to the chair.

"You've come a long way to request this meeting."

Hannah Kadiyot bowed.

"It is most gracious of you to invite me into your home, Your Majesty", her words of a simpleton barely above the crackling of the royal fire. They both sat in silence, one comfortable, one tense; she resisted the ridiculous urge to shake her ass in front of the fireplace.

A few pleasantries and formalities later, she felt warm enough to make the move.

"Almost 150 years ag-", the beep of a text message interrupted her, momentarily, "yes, almost 150 years ago, one of your ancestors greeted one of mine, I assume in this place, to reveal one of the best kept secrets in the world in thousands of years".

King Charles III gestured at the staff member bringing niceties and she dared a glimpse at the notification on her mobile.

Fort William will also be cl...

"Her Majesty", she began; "in her infinite wisdom, maintained that only a Yeudi should sit on the Throne", her eyes twinkling, almost giving her away, guessing that the King knew far more than he was letting on.

"That, we assume, is a problem we'll need to overcome in your recent interest?"

Steuart House

The King look at his guest through veiled eyes. He had served for two decades in Military Intelligence prior to him taking his royal duties and developed a keenly honed poker face.

"My family has kept that secret for almost two thousand years its true. We kept this secret at the request of the House of Udinov whose blood now flows into ours."

"We have continued to hold that secret, until we saw what Khans of Wiel and the Emperor of Fort William treated that throne. My ancestor maintained wisely that only someone of the People's blood could take the throne. I could not, my son Prince Alexander could not. However his wife Madeline by comparison. Was not born in Hutori. No she was born and grew up in Yishelem."

"A Yeudi", Hannah stated, "we're aware, Your Majesty".

"But she's not one of the House of Elior".

The King didn't smile. He didn't need to. He saw the calculation ongoing though the woman's head.

"True, she is not, but a child of a Yeudi is a far more desirable match for someone of that fabled House.. are they not? And ultimately... it is not the blood, but the legacy that matters. Are not all Yeudis not united by the blood of the homeland and of that fabled bloodline?"

"Yes", the corner of Hanna Kadiyot's mouth twitched.

"Yes, Your Majesty - but how fiddle a lineage may ultimately seem, of no ties, of no connection? As you just said, our legacy comes from heritage, not of blood, and that heritage traces all the way to Elior himself. And Elior's own legacy that he left -behind-, no?"

King Charles III looked past his guest a moment and nodded. The Royal Guard brought a small velvet box and handed it to the King. The King didn't say a word, but opened the box and revealed a gem whose color was as ruby red as blood, the gem itself a near perfect thing. The King didn't say much. "I agree... heritage is what matters most."
