PROPOSAL: Nuke RP Rule Update
#1
After some internal discussions, following the public feedback period we opened some weeks ago; here's a proposal for a rule change in regards of Nukes RP:

Quote: Nuclear weapons and other WMDs are generally not available, but may be developed or used in roleplay under certain conditions. Before doing any RP on the topic, players must submit a request to moderation to be allowed to develop and RP nukes or other WMDs. The request should include information on how the weapons will be used in an RP story, the plan for that story, any other players involved, and other relevant info. Moderation will review and grant approval on a case-by-case basis, but such approvals will be rare and only in circumstances where the RP story could not otherwise achieve the same aims without nukes or WMDs.

An additional feedback period for this proposal is opened.

Question: Are those claiming to possess WMDs grandfathered in, or is their possession retconned pending reapplication?

The proposal seems balanced, good work. Though I am also curious about Doc's question - are we entering a reset on that front?

Indeed those who are currently engaging in Nuke RP should reapply, so the current advancements are retconned pending reapplication.

I will prob re-apply just to keep the lingering traces of context on nuclear expertise in the current declining arc. Intent is to keep it legitimate as part of the lore (after this rule and the story with Weim). Not to re-develop actual nukes in Amudim again.

Biological and chemical weapons are also covered under this rule, as they are WMDs. Our general position is going to be that biological weapons are very similar to nuclear weapons (technically difficult, expensive) while chemical weapons (depending on type) might be easier to achieve and therefore might be more often approved by the mods, assuming a good, clear request is put in.

Short answer is this also applies to them.
