As the breakway region of Nefa presses the attack, the Minan Armed Forces respond with ballistic missile attacks.
President of the Ahmadi Republic of Southern Mina Wahid Mazin Nadim in a joint statement with the Minister of the Armed Forces, Taajuddeen al-Azam and Chief of the General Staff of the Ahmadi Republic of Southern Mina Armed Forces Lieutenant General Nadheer al-Masri announced the beginning of Operation Sword of Thunder (Sayf Al-Ra‘d). The operation according to Minan intelligence sources is to capture of the vital port city of Masset, the capital of the Minan Governorate of Nefa and vital industrial center in the south. Masset holds vital facilities operated by the Majatran Organization for Industrialization and the Mina Industrial Development Corporation, both of which produce military equipment for the Armed Forces of Mina. Over the course of the past several months the Royal Minan Guard Corps has radically transformed and have deployed in its entirety to Nefa; most notably the 1st Royal Minan Guard Brigade and the 2nd Royal Minan Guard Brigades. Sources close to the Ministry of Defense have reported that the elite Special Operations Service of the Royal Minan Guard Corps have deployed to the region en masse for the first time.

Tensions have been boiling following a prolonged lull in the action, but the recent influx of new fighters from Solentia and the restored region of Quanzar have escalated the conflict tremendously. Comparatively, while the Minan Armed Forces possess significant combat experience and combat history, the upstart Ahmadi Republic of Southern Mina Armed Forces are well trained and combat hardened. Minister of the Armed Forces Taajuddeen al-Azam has sought to bring a blend of professionalism and religious zeal to the armed forces of Southern Mina and has instituted strict controls to professionalize the militia-type forces that many Solentian and Majatran forces came from during the Solentian Civil War and the subsequent restored Quanzar period in Istalia. This strict control and combination of veteran fighters have caused significant problems for the Minan Armed Forces regular forces, with the exception of the better equipped forces and more professional forces. The significant deployment of combat forces, especially those with combat experience by the Minan Armed Forces highlights the concern that they have that Nefa might fall and the loss of Masset will be a significant loss for the Minan government.
