Majatran-Artanian Treaty Organisation (MATO)
#1
The Majatran-Artanian Treaty Organisation (MATO) is an intergovernmental military alliance that was established with the signing of the Majatran-Artanian Treaty. The organisation serves as a system of collective security, whereby its independent member states agree to mutual defence in response to an attack by an outside party. This is enshrined in Article 5 of the treaty, which states that an armed attack against one member shall be considered an attack against all of them.

MATO's primary purpose is to deter and counter the threat posed by authoritarian, imperialist, and otherwise expansionist states. MATO's main headquarters are in the city of Himmelshtern, while its military headquarters are in a classified location. Members of MATO meet through conferences and the Majatran-Artanian Security Council, though Article 4 can also call emergency meetings when a threat is recognised.

The MASC is a body within MATO established with Article 7. Every member state has representatives on the MASC and can raise issues as they see fit. This thread serves as both the general MATO thread as well as the 'meeting ground' for the MASC.

Helná Pshamazrk, Prefect of the Grand Council, Kingdom of Wrnuke

Quote:A warm welcome to all that have come to this historical first meeting of the potential signatory nations of a new treaty. It makes me very glad to see that regional security, sovereignty, and freedom are such important and valued convictions in our two continents this day and age.

We stand at the start of a new century, one that will undoubtedly be filled with greater challenges, greater than we have ever faced before. Us meeting here today, and the coming days, only shows how aware of this we all are.

This treaty that we are going to discuss shows a framework drafted by our diplomats, it is free to amend during this meeting, so if there are any issues please raise them. But this treaty has been drafted to serve as the tool to keep us all safe, and to fight for the safety of others as well. To summarise, within this treaty we commit to our own values, we commit to defending each other, we commit to forever maintain that defence, and we commit to closer cooperation both in economic and military sense.

Now, I will not keep you all busy too long with unnecessary pleasantries. Once again, welcome, and those that wish to speak are now free to do so.
