Where is the Vrosnoki Republic at today; A review of what's going on in the cold north.
--------------------------
December 15th, 5646
-------------------------
The Vrosnoki Republic. The oil heart of the Nadiyan region. A cold nation, a matriarchal nation, a struggling nation. But how is it struggling, you may ask. And to that, dear reader, we say this. Loans. Copious amounts of loans. Vrosnok may be the oil heart of the Nadiyan region, but it is a crippling over specialization. The Republic is reliant on oil to an unhealthy degree. Because of the frozen nature of Vrosnok, other industries in the economy are neglected or non-existent. This leads to loans as oil alone cannot carry an economy. While the Republic isn't in immense poverty, it isn't in immense wealth either. Compared to other sister republics, the situation could be better. But it can always be worse. No matter what, the Republic will need to tackle this loan issue, and diversify the economy.
Politically, it's a more messier story as the House of Businesses maintains a solid grip politically. While still democratic, there are calls for reforms. Small as those calls may be, the House of Businesses must do something. About the economy, and especially with some members having connections to the wildly disgraced Union for Prosperity and Peace of Nadiya, which continues to sour opinion amongst the average Vrosnoki. While formal elections loom, the current government has its work cut out for it.
Culturally however, there are many questions about what Vrosnok is. We've enjoyed independence for quite some time now. But who are we as a people? That is a question that the next government will need to determine. Civic nationalism is on the rise, slowly but surely. Many Vrosnoki are looking to their Krivian roots. Others however, remain apathetic. It's hard to care about where you come from when you're freezing on an oil rig.
As Nadiya grows closer, Vrosnok must look inwards, and define itself in an ever-changing world. Who is it? How will the economy be managed towards recovery? How will reform be enacted? These are simply one of many questions asked by many Vrosnoki.

Kulina Platonava elected in Vrosnok; Another tenure for the House of Businesses.
-------------------------------
June 19th, 5647
-------------------------------
Because of how cold the winters get, elections in Vrosnok are typically held in summer to maximize turnout. It gets warm sometimes, but most Vrosnoki are apathetic about elections. In the past, they used to care but given the current circumstances, they could care less. This election was no different. With a depressingly low turnout, Kulina Platonava of the House of Businesses won election. A prominent reformist within the House of Businesses, she has promised to foster economic development and work towards ending the current loan situation. While she hasn't promised to end it, she has been aware that even small steps to ending the reliance on loans from the rest of Nadiya are crucial. While voters could be more enthusiastic, they could also be less apathetic. So it's a win for Platonava. In any case, she's looking to define her tenure as one regarding the economy.
She's looking to modernize the oil industry and try economic diversification. While there isn't much to work with, there are avenues. Tourism, basic lumber, seasonal aquaculture in the South near the coast, even IT investments thanks to the cold temperatures mostly year round. While it won't be an instant solution, it'll be a start. While many Vrosnoki aren't too optimistic and simply care about getting through the days, diversifying the economy will hopefully help raise the national mood. At the very least, it'll provide good money and money can hide most misery and apathy. Most.
In any case, these elections are another victory of the status quo. We can only hope, and trust Platonava in her goals of developing. But her reformist nature may give some friendly shocks. We can only hope. Whether these reforms involve economic reforms, reforms to the government and it's institutions, or even electoral reforms, we'll have to simply wait and see what happens in the coming months. Or, alternatively, it can simply be another term of nothingness and the status quo.

Passage of an amendment turning Nadiya's economy into a socialized market as proportional representation and multipartism enshrined into the draft: a Nadiya of peoples and nations
Volosgrad, Vrosnok. It seems that the constitional convention, in charge of drafting the supreme law that will codify the future Nadiyan state, can't stop itself from adopting unique systems and amendments to the constitution. For this scession of the CC, the socialists alongside the Utopians proposed making Nadiya follow a socialized economy, in other words, the state alongside the republics would be forced to adopt an economic model in the middle of socialism and capitalism, it's similar to the current state capitalist model that had been implemented during the Danylivna administration however it differentiates from it through its focus on the social aspects of life while allowing for planned economic growth just like in a socialist economy and at the same time encourage competition and capital growth between state and private owned companies. This system effectively bans austerity and profit driven measures in favor of consumer and worker focused policies that can basically be described as "humane capitalism with guardrails". However the main reason for the amendment wasn't to lock the Nadiyan economy, but to break down the last remaining barriers holding up trade between the member republics because in different confederations throughout the history of Terra, the main issue holding up their economic growth was the reliance of the member states on foreing trade instead of provincial trade due to a lack of measures encouraging it. In addition, the plurinationalist constitutionalists put forward an amendment imposing a proportional representative system for the Nadiyan General Assembly alongside a clause that would defend multipartism in Nadiyan politics, this means that if Nadiyan legislature ever fell into a duopoly or dominant party democracy, the dominant parties would be forced to split apart and effectively kill their dominance and thus saving the multiparty system. Finally, both amendments passed easily with a 2/3 majority as the main opposition was from the communists who believed the economic model didn't protect workers enough but as for the multiparty amendment the main opposition was the technocrats who said it as a way to kill major parties constitutionally.

Monarchists manage to narrowly win the referendum with 56% of the votes as 79,6% turnout to vote, the constitutional convention set to begin defining the legal limits of the Tsarina: return of the old system?
Rodashyam, Radin. Today Nadiyans headed to the polls to decide whether or not they wanted to restore the monarchy after its abolition by the treaty of Petrograd, the referundum was one of many demands the Tsarina and Princesses Association of Nadiya requested from the Dovhan administration to secure a super majority in the NGA. So for the past year, the PTAN started pressuring the government to launch the referundum shortly after the start of the Constitutional Convention, even tho there was some resistance from SR politicians who argued that the current administration had already secured a majority and didn't need to have a supermajority, the Nadiyan Commission for Electoral Fairness and Transparency has organized the referundum in two parts. Part one consisted of asking the citizens if they wanted the future unified Nadiyan state to be a republic or a monarchy, the second part was asking what style of monarchy they would like between a ceremonial monarch with no powers whatsoever, a monarch with the power to dissolve the legislature but only if asked to by the head of government, or a monarch with the power to dissolve parliament at will and appoint a HoG, or none of the options above which either meant an absolute monarchy or no monarchy. The different sides held a 5 month long campaign trying to sway as much voters as possible with the monarchists even using cultural events such as the Zoetergraaf poem festival to spread their agenda. Ultimately on the day of the vote, the NCEFT reported a 79,6% turnover with most of it being in Kozaki and Radin who both reported an average of 87% turnout, the results of the referundum shocked everybody as the monarchists won with a slim majority of 56% of the votes while the republicans secured 42% and blank votes were 2%. As for the monarchical system part, 98,2% of voters wanted a monarch with no power whatsoever and for it be strictly ceremonial while the other options barely manage to secure 1%of the vote. Seeing the results of the referendum, the constitutional convention has announced that they will begin discussing the system under which a monarch would reign Nadiya according to the results of the referendum, however they didn't mention if they would abolish the current ban on male royals that makes every male royal illegible to the throne as established by the Petrograd treaty, now Nadiyans can only watch toward Volosgrad as constitutionalists will most likely jump at each other throat when it comes to the monarchy.

Developing the Vrosnoki IT Sector; Efforts to diversify the economy amidst rising Krivian Nationalism.
-------------------------------------
June 4th, 5648
-------------------------------------
One of the many promises Platonava made to an apathetic voter base was economic diversification. Chief amongst those promises was developing the IT sector. You save alot of money on cooling when the temperature frequently drops to the negatives in the winters. So it's no wonder that mega corporations from the rest of Nadiya took interest in Vrosnok for the IT sector. Such mega corps like New Hope Initiatives or the Golden Rose Corporation have made the country their server home. But the framework for them is primitive at worst and basic at best. And in a rare display of excitement, it seems there is genuine interest in seeing things change up. Especially if it means offering a future for Vrosnoki. As such, the Platonava Administration is looking to potentially turn Vrosnok into a hub for IT servers in not just Nadiya, but potentially even Keris.
As such, the first thing enacted is the creation of the Vrosnoki Digital Development Agency (ALRV), which will work with both mega corps, and potential future private interests groups. The ALRV will also regulate and promote IT development in Vrosnok, whether it be by offering tax credits, tech visas, land deals or employment programs, the ALRV will do what it can to help the development of the IT sector. Since it's currently the two esteemed mega corporations, the ALRV will largely focus on helping them out. And the biggest way they've promoted is offering a full 5 year tax freeze if either megacorp expands into underdeveloped areas. Alongside this, matching grants. No one wants to walk into a blizzard to build a house when the government tells you to do it. But if the government helps you out, then well maybe it's a bit better. As such, should these megacorps expand, the state will focus on covering infrastructure costs, such as roads, heating, power, etc. Alongside that, they will be encouraged to help train and employ locals.
The goal will be to set up the framework. The next few phases will likely focus on building up domestic tech talent, and the final phase will likely focus on building up a local tech industry and environment. Long term goals, but the Platonava Administration might as well put the loans to usage on anything besides oil and budgeting. While the government can only hope that other tech firms, whether they be international, Nadiyan or at least Kerisian take an interest in Vrosnok, the people continue on with their apathy. Or rather, normally they would. While most Vrosnoki remain apathetic, there is a movement starting to form, largely coming from the country's biggest city, and capital, Volosgrad. A nationalist movement. While not espousing hateful rhetoric, this movement, dubbed the "Vrosnoki Association for Krivian Revival" (AVaK), has called for a cultural revival of Krivian culture, such as reviving Krivian festivities, the Krivian language, and creating a proper national identity for Vrosnok. While the rest of Nadiya enjoys a firm national identity, such as seen in Kozaki or Radin, Vrosnok has been a black sheep for a solid while. With Krivians only making up 10% of the population in all of Nadiya (but mostly concentrated in Vrosnok), the AVaK has looked to promote Krivian culture in Vrosnok, and help Vrosnoki rediscover their roots, or at the very least forge a national identity. While so far, most Vrosnoki remain apathetic, AVaK is slowly but steadily rising and many be able to mount pressure on the House of Businesses to support cultural development. It's too early to say what will emerge from AVaK but the current situation they're in likely won't stop them from grassroots efforts at a cultural revival. In any case, the Platonava Administration will have to continue managing the economy, national apathy, and AVaK in the future.

The CC approves of a strictly ceremonial position for the Tsarina as two new chambers of parliament are added to the legislature, World Congress charter of human rights added to the constitution: what the hell is this constitution
Zoetergraaf, Brakav. It seems that the constitutional convention is finally addressing the final issues that will shape the future of the Nadiyan political arena such as the fate of the monarchy and legislature. For the case of the monarchy, a Matriarchist proposal passed almost unanimously through the convention as the Matriarchists made so that the ban on male royals from ever claiming the throne was maintained but also making the Tsarina hold no power whatsoever and making her a purely ceremonial head of state alongside the presidential council. Not only that, but the amendment enforced the current requirement for all royals to be politically active and campaign for them to be able to claim their titles and get registered within the Nadiyan Royal Archives, thus the Tsarina in order to be still be recognized she will have to be active politically while being banned from holding a positions with executive power such as head of government or member of the presidential council. Furthermore, the Matriarchist amendment created two new chambers to the Nadiyan legislature those being the Chamber of Nations, the equivalent of the senate, and the Chamber of Justice, a chamber responsible for the approving of justices and auditing of the government. This would make the Nadiyan parliament the first Tricarmeral legislature in the history of Keris and even Terra with a system that was loosely based on the ideals of Yingdalan republicans who planned to create a Tricarmeral legislature before getting ousted centuries ago. When it comes to the model of voting for the two new chamber, unlike the NGA, both chambers will be direct through direct preferential voting with the CoN being composed of 700 locked seats that are divided into 100 seat per republic and 100 seats for the indegnous population while the remaining 100% seats are divided between the different ethnic and religious minorities of Nadiya, the CoJ on the other hand is only made up of 300 seats with 2/3 of them elected directly while 1/3 are elected by courts and judicial councils, requirements such as holding a master in law and being referred to by at least 20 members of the legislature were added to "maintain the integrity and function of the chamber as a place of auditing that will hold the government accountable to all of their actions. In addition, the Matriarchist proposal had a Socialist bill added that would basically base and copy the World Congress charter of human rights, this would enshrine even further the agreed upon Socialized economy as the government would be required to respect those rights and uplift them unless they want to face the CoJ during the monthly audits.

"Nadiya is a union of sovereign nations and peoples" enshrined into the constitution as the CC appoints 6 capitals and recognizes 5 official languages: is it truly a union of nations?
Volosgrad, Vrosnok. Today marks a major victory for the plurinationalists and their radical colleagues as the constitutional convention agreed to add the phrase "Nadiya is a union of sovereign nations and peoples" to the constitution which ciments even more the Confederal aspect of the future state. The amendment was put forward by the plurinationalists themselves and most notably an indegnous representative who argued for even more protections of the Confederal system and a formal recognition that all member states have a right to leave the confederation but only if the measure is approved by a 2/3 majority in all three chambers of the legislature alongside being addressed in a referendum with a mandatory 65% of voters approving of the motion and a required minimum of 55% turnout in order for the referundum to be approved and recognized as a legitimate one. Some decried the motion as a major violation of the member state's sovereignty but many argued that in order to preserve the unity of the confederation and its integrity in case of a political crisis, those requirements were necessary and some said that they were even too lax. On top of that the radical plurinationalists designated 6 capital cities for the confederation those being:
Zarvosopol, Kozaki, who will host the Nadiyan General Assembly
Petrograd, Kozaki, who will host the government
Zoetergraaf, Brakav, who will host the presidential council and the Tsarina
Rodashyam, Radin, who will host the Chamber of Nations
Volosgrad, Vrosnok, who will host the Chamber of Justice
Spask, Lesnov, who will host the judiciary and more importantly the Nadiyan Supreme Cooperative Court.
This measure according to the plurinationalists the measure of designating 6 capitals and assigning each one of them a specific entity of the government is to prevent any successful coup attempts or attacks against democracy because in order for a coup to be successful they must control all three branches of government but that tasks is nearly impossible when the entities are scattered across vast distances. In addition to the designation of the 6 capitals, the convention agreed to recognize Rodashka, Kozaki, Dundorfian, the indegnous language, Nova Beagukiyan, and Kirivian as the official languages of the confederation but what sets this recognition from the previous ones done in the history of Nadiya is the fact that those languages don't follow their original ethnic demographics anymore, the most famous example is Kozaki that used to be spoken by the 11% Kozakis making the population of Kozaki, now the language is spoken by nearly 58% of Nadiyans who say they use it almost on a daily basis alongside Rodashka and a third language depending on the region. This shows that Nadiya's unorthodox policies when it comes to cultures and languages has successfully managed to divorce the concept of ethnic nationalism that uses the language as an outlet for their ideals and movements.

95,4% approve of the constitution in a referendum, the constitutional convention and NGA dissolved as the 5 republics convene in Zarvosopol to ratify the confederation treaty: beginning of a glorious future
Petrograd, Kozaki. Today nadiyans headed to the polls in order to either approve or reject the constitutional draft put forward by the constitutional convention, all parties within the NGA suprisingly united to campaign for the yes vote while radical members of those parties defected and campaigned for the no vote because to them the proposed constitution wasn't radical enough or was just not in their ideal system of governance. The NCEFT officially launched the campaign season immediately after the constitutional convention published the final and ultimate draft of the constitution, this meant that even tho it was obvious the constitution was going to pass and Nadiya being formed into a Confederation, opponents of the proposal still tried to lower the number of yes votes as much as necessary. Ultimately tho, on the day of the vote more than 79% of Nadiyans turned out to vote with an crushing majority of 95,4% voting yes and approving of the constitution, the result was a shockwave for everyone even the staff of the NEC themselves who only expected an approval of 73% but they can't complain as now only one step remains and that is for the republics to convene in Zarvosopol and ratify the treaty of the confederation which will finally reunify the country. Furthermore, SG Dovhan has announced the dissolution of the Constitutional Convention and thanked them for their service before also announcing the dissolution of the Nadiyan General Assembly after the legislative body decided to vote it's own dissolution and agree to keep the Dovhan administration as caretaker until the scheduling of general elections after the reunification of the isles.

Ratification of the Zarvosopol treaty, the Nadiyan Confederation proclaimed as millions take on the street to celebrate and prepare for the general elections: odes to Nadiya and freedom!
Zarvosopol, Kozaki. From the halls of the Pavlina People's Palace, home to the presidency of the Kozaki republic, the heads of state of government for all 5 republics met to mark a historic day in the history of Nadiya. The leaders of the 5 republics alongside the members of the incumbent Dovhan administration all convened in Zarvosopol to ratify the long awaited treaty of Zarvosopol, the event was broadcasted live on TVs and through radio with millions eagerly listening and watching each leader pronounce their name and state their approval and consent of the future Nadiyan state on behalf of their citizens, and as the clock struck midnight and NEC Secretary General Rostlyvan Dovhan stood in front of a stage, he said,
Quote:Dear citizens of Kozaki, Radin, Brakav, Vrosnok, and Lesnov;
I have to firstly thank you all for believing in the Nadiyan dream, for helping it sail through 80 years of chaos filled with mourning, sadness, but with glimpses of joy and laughter. It was you who participated in every legislative election of the General Assembly, and it was also you who overwhelmingly wanted to launch the constitutional convention and ultimately accepted this constitution. Without you we wouldn't be here on this historic day, without you this dream wouldn't have materialized, period. It was your commitment to uplifting the principles for which we broke the shackles of tyranny during the October revolution, and it was your dedication to exercise your fundamental right to vote even when times were though and hope was something far from our grasp. I know you all are eagerly waiting for me to say the words that will seal our future as a united, propserous, and most importantly, free nation.
So without further ado, it is my utmost honor, at 00:01 am on the 8th of May 5649, the official formation of the Nadiyan Confederation, a union of nations that shall last for centuries!
As soon as his speech was concluded, the Nadiyan anthem "Ode to Nadiya" started playing while the sunrise flag was risen on the roof of the 5 republics' buildings, the soon then erupted into joy with millions taking in to the street to celebrate while some of the lucky ones who agreed to give up their old passports before the declaration finally got a hold of the new Nadiyan passport. In the mean time, political parties are already preparing to start the campaign season as the first Confederal elections will include the election of the NGA, and the first ever election of the newly created CoN and CoJ, not only that but the 7 seats of the presidential council will also be directly elected with 1 seat attributed to each republic, and the indegnous alongside the constitutionally planned popular seat will still be elected.

Developing the IT Sector further; New jobs besides freezing on an oil rig.
--------------------------
February 10th, 5650
--------------------------
The development of the IT sector has been cautiously watched by many Vrosnoki. After all, it was an alternative to the oil industry so some Vrosnoki have had some hope. Others were more cynical and expected it to amount to nothing. But so far, it seems to be going well. Not bad, but not great either. Just well. In any case, the second stage of developing the IT sector has begun. After all, it has to be a self sustaining industry. It's an insult, and it isn't practical to rely on foreign workers (this includes workers from the rest of the Confederation). As such, this is where the second stage comes in.
The Platonava Administration has launched the National Tech Education Program, looking to promote coding, cyber security and IT infrastructure in secondary schools. For isolated communities in the North, online modules will be needed. As such, partnering with the esteemed megacorps, Golden Rose and New Hope to build courseware. Alongside this, vocational colleges for practical tech. State supported two year programs will be made available, looking to promote maintenance training for servers and tech, support roles and data centre operations. For students already enrolled, STEM degrees will be state funded to encourage more support for it.
To further encourage development and investment from not just the rest of the confederation, but also the rest of the continent, tech visas will be offered for the rest of Keris. This will be widely available to coders who simply want a peaceful, neutral place to develop code.
And, in a rather surprising move, Platonava has looked to help non college educated Vrosnoki by offering an alternative. State certification will be offered for short 6 month programs. Apprenticeship programs for the youth, and collaboration with the megacorps to hire certified individuals into junior roles. To ensure Vrosnoki are actually hired and not foreign workers, the government will work on establishing an IT Job Portal to fast track Vrosnoki into jobs. It'll connect the ALRV, private firms, megacorps and public institutions with local talent. A win win. Alongside that, any firms utilizing tax breaks will be required to hire a minimum percentage of local workers. To further ensure the public sector develops, digitalization of records will begin, alongside efforts to construct data storages. Vrosnoki coders will be contracted to start working on this effort to ensure a strong public sector.
It'll take time, but slowly, Vrosnok may get itself out of the malaise. As the seasons continue to change, and Krivian Revival continues to occur, many are starting to have some optimism. Or at least, are starting to care. Even if it's just a little bit. The apathy will be hard to break, but perhaps the Platonava Administration can put cracks in it. If she continues to show care for the working class and non college educated Vrosnoki, then perhaps we can see the apathy end.
