She narrowed her eyes slightly, but noticeably, and with the slightest almost imperceptible nod of her head, Lady Waltrip stood up and shook Lazar's hand.
Lady Waltrip's grip was not faint or dainty. She shook Lazar's hand like a person born to high station who resented the fact that she was required to do this. Before releasing his grip, she looked him directly in the eyes and said,
"You do your part, and we'll do ours. Don't f--k this up."
She caught Lazar casting a glance to the Empress and she said,
"Don't look at her. That's from me. I hope you understand the risk we're taking here. But now we're both in it, so let's do this right."
She then released her grip, and stepping back said,
"Her Imperial Majesty will sign the formal agreements this evening and send them to your representative. I assume the contact is the same?"
