Stadhouder Karl-Heinz Sztermann being happy to cut the budget
After arduous years of domestic political stagnation, the Triad was forced into due to the “Schuhbeck-Terrors,” finally a treaty has been signed allowing the politically tried three republics to sigh in relief and turn toward the future.
Immediately after ratifying the new paperwork the Stadhouder went into an offensive position on the other points of his agenda, he has now officially announced the date of the next election. According to the released material the elections are to take place in May of 5689 ending the delay after one year of political uncertainty. Senators from all sides of the aisle have confirmed that they’ve been participating in the coordination of the political “healing” of the Triad. Political analysts explain that the next elections are going to shift the power dynamics within the Senate immensely one of the reasons: The Triad has lost some of its electorate. The new cut to size Third Republic of Himmelshtern has lost most of its political relevance in national elections meaning that Narikaton and Darnussia have been re-positioned as the power center of the State. The VVP also surprisingly confirmed upon inquiry that the Stadhouder Karl-Heinz Sztermann is going to run on their ticket for the empty presidential office, which obviously is a foruntate circumstance for the conservative party as that would lead to them likely dominating both the Senate and the Executive. Opinion polling institutes have unanimously stated that there is “absolutely no chance that anyone could beat Sztermann at this moment.” The electorate was more surprised as this revelation as most of them expected the Senate Faction Leader and Party Chairman Heinrich “Bigman” Berger to contest the office. Professor Ulrich Fanhorstfesnchadforst from the University of Merenbürg speculates that the VVP does not want to sacrifice Berger in the current unstable political climate.
On another hand many questioned on how foreign policy would continue; There is a lot of uncertainty and tension in the air between the Triad and its former allies in Wiel as well as Melikhvan, the current emergency-cabinet was not ready to answer these questions as they were going to need to continue negotiations with the individual parties but for now it seems that the conclusion of the Terrors is going to normalize relations somewhat. Either way, a solution to these problems has to be found soon as possible as the corporate lobbying block has been protesting for quite a while, both the commercial good industrial titans are unhappy due to them reaping the negatives of the conflict and now due to peace also the Weapon Barons are to-be placated because their weapon sales are presumably going to go down.
At least one thing we know: Sztermann has announced his first policy aside of running for election, a VVP classic: He’s going to slash parts of the budget. Specifically, he’s going to slash all money going to the defense of Amudim as the new treaty relieves the Triad of all Amudim-related duties, all money going toward the maintenance of the former Nisrads and their navy is now going to slashed and cut. Additionally, other Yeudi-cultural related projects, integration efforts and 3rd Point Federation dues are going to leave a nice, freed budget which makes the good old conservatives very happy as can be seen in the first promotional material released in regard to the campaign. Some have dubbed this "Yeudi-exhaustion" which is also generally visible within the Triad public, most parties that intend to contest the next election have toned down their pro-yeudi tone. Since we’ve mentioned the Federation, we’ve also tried on inquiring on its future but have been left without any conclusive response, at least the Directorate of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that the Federation is not going to be continued in its original form.
