Benjamín de la Cruz wins PSSG Primary; de la Cruz calls for a return to "social democratic principles".

The Seleyan Social Democratic Party of Gaduridos has concluded a rather early primary, with the centrist wing of the PSSG managing to prevail as PSSG voters across the country gave the mandate to Benjamín de la Cruz. With de la Cruz nominated as the candidate for Prime Minister and elections set for October, the PSSG is looking to hit things early. With de la Cruz being apart of the centrist wing of the PSSG, and while certainly not a Garcian Socialist, has shown a strong interest in major reforms to the country, calling for the country to return to "traditional social democratic principles".
Arguing for stronger state intervention in the economy, stopping PeGad layoffs especially, de la Cruz has focused on winning over workers who have felt dissatisfied with the status quo, largely focusing on economic and constitutional issues, avoiding the question of social issues and Bentasur outright. Alongside that, de la Cruz has endorsed the idea of moving on from the Canrillaise Fleur and adopting a domestic currency, and rebuilding trade institutions. However, one part of de la Cruz's platform has caught significant attention; a formal rewrite of the Constitution. With a noticable lack of mentioning any republicanism, left wing voters (particularly those who often vote for the Workers Party of Gaduridos) have drawn the only plausible conclusion; the PSSG may be advocated for an independent monarchy. Despite this, there is significant support for rewriting the Constitution and ending the Constitutional Limbo that the country finds itself in, with de la Cruz outright tackling the topic head on.
While de la Cruz has avoided questions regarding foreign policy, most especially on Bentasur and whether the Neutrality Act may need to be revised or even outright repealed. While it's disappointing to nationalist voters, who are likely to stay with the (admittedly) far right Free Soil Party, sometimes the policy of no harm, no foul, can work. Whatever the case, as the conservative minded Reform Party looks to consider an electoral alliance with the liberal oriented Radical Party once again, the PSSG is largely framing their campaign as one of revival for the country. And given that the PSSG has a track record of leading the way to economic recovery, voters certainly have reason to support the PSSG. But equally, these issues, such as the currency issue has ultimately come about from a PSSG government (even if said government was long ago), and so there's equal reason for voters to turn to the right this October, especially as the Radical Party is most certainly going to try to steal the left from the PSSG and rally Republicans to restore the Gaduri Republic now that an outright constitutional rewrite is on the table and apart of the national conversation.

I understand that those to my left have had significant issues with how the country was operated in the past, and call for a restoration of the Gaduri Republic.
