The 4-hour month in classic Particracy was, in retrospect, too short. You always had to rush legislation through, and it was difficult to engage in any meaningful roleplay between elections because they were only slightly more than a week apart.
On the other hand, 12 hours seems very long considering the new gameplay mechanics. An election every 24 days (assuming one election every four years) could become very boring for new players.
For me, the ideal length would be 6 hours per month, but I would be comfortable with 8 hours, as Drax proposed. As long as it's a number that divides evenly into 24 hours so that the hour changes occur at fixed times each day.
