Global Mordusia! Three visits in two years
The success of the ''Second Foreign Offensive''
December 5567
Prime-Minister DeWitt & Governor-General Wilson at the meeting with Potensi
Randworth - The Second Diplomatic Offensive, the initiative of the new National-led government to expand within one term the ties with partner nations and establish important trade deals and diplomatic talks, has been the backbone of this administration. The hopes were set high and the government has seemed to be able to deliver on the promise. In 5566 and 5567 the nations of Zardugal, Potensi and Kundrati made a visit to the nation.
Global Mordusia
The Foreign Ministry has copied the old slogan of the Luthorian diplomatic stance a few hundred years ago, called ‘’Global Luthori’’ and adapted it for their own. It was met with some criticism as the Commonwealth doesn’t want to look like a carbon copy of Luthori, but overall the secondary name, the Second Diplomatic Offensive stuck and hit better. The aim was to establish more trade deals and connections around the world to make Mordusia less alone in the world and give businesses opportunities within the nation whilst also expanding Mordusian chances abroad. The first offensive was with Gaduridos, Luthori, Lodamun and Dorvik. All nations aiding the Mordusian economy with their expertise, aid or cooperation through trade. The second one aimed at fostering new relations with nations from all continents and with neighbours.
Potensi
The first nation to accept the invitation was Potensi. They graced the Commonwealth with a visit in 5566. The visit was made extra special with the surprising arrival of the King and his Royal personal to the Commonwealth. King Aris Arevyan was formally greeted by His Excellency, Jeremy Wilson, Governor-General of Mordusia in his capacity as the representing viceroy of Her Majesty Queen Audrey when foreign dignitaries visit the Commonwealth. The Governor-General bid His Majesty welcome on behalf of Her Majesty the Queen and welcomed him to Mordusia.
The King was brought to Randworth, the capital of the Commonwealth and shown various museums and industries, including the Vanukuan mines and the state owned mines. During this diplomats from both nations negotiated for hours according to the Foreign Ministry. The goal was to see if foreign investments and trade could be established within the nation. A key goal of the Potensi delegation was allowing companies to enter the Mordusian markets, especially the Thaller-Siran corporation. Though the Mordusian delegation thought there would be little interest in electric cars, like the Xarvin 2.0, the government saw no objections to allowing them to invest in Mordusia. The final deal was as follows: the Thaller-Siran Corporation will be allowed to set up shop in Mordusia, sell their Xarvin 2.0 and other cars, whilst also investing in creating the infrastructure to charge and maintain electric vehicles. They will also invest in Kangaroo Motors, the Mordusian ailing car manufacturer. The idea is that with their help and technology the company will be able to better produce hybrid cars, which would fit more in the Mordusian economy.
According to the Ministry of Defense the Potensi government requested that their warships could dock and refuel in Mordusian harbours. The Commonwealth government, reluctantly, agreed under some undisclosed provisions. The docking of the ships of the Potensi navy can also only be done for a short while for shore leave and resupplying and only at ports in the Sea of Lost Souls. These rights will be given for a time of 5 years after which they would have to be renegotiated. It is not often the Commonwealth agrees to these terms, according to analyst the government is happy to have more contacts and activity in their harbours. Some voices in the Parliament have already stated their disapproval of the action. Fearing a disapproving tone from the Canrille Empire, Beiteynu and the Holy Luthorian Empire.
The visit was concluded as usual with a huge banquet in honour of the Potensi king, hosted by Her Majesty the Queen at the Port Palace in Port Alexander, the Palace used for these kinds of things if the Royal person is represented by the Governor-General.
Kundrati
Members of the Union Government along with high officials of the ArtSats travelled to Mordusia to talk with members of the Trade Ministry, this meeting was also attended by officials of the Foreign Ministry. According to the Kasaema Guardian as well as our own sources the meeting was about expanding the operations of the ArtSats company and its services to Mordusia. This company produces satellites that provide interest connection. The Commonwealth has expressed great interest in the services this company provides, according to some diplomats the government hopes that this will increase internet speeds in Mordusia’s more rural communities. The government has recently reported that amongst their infrastructure investments would be the upgrade of the internet cables, but that this would be costly and hard to do in the more rural areas. These areas need them the most and the ArtSats solution makes this possible at a more affordable rate. The Trade minister was seen to be quite happy when briefed about the success according to some insiders in the Trade Ministry.
Zardugal
The last visit to happen was a few months ago when His Excellency the Director of the Republic of Zardugal visited the Commonwealth. Mr. Diarmaido was invited by the Governor-General Wilson to discuss trade relations and establishing diplomatic and economic ties between the Majatran and Seleyan nations. Creating for both nations opportunities outside their continents.
Zardugal is not a nation close by and not everyone within the country exactly knew why the Commonwealth government invited the Zardugal government to the Commonwealth. The Trade Minister however made this all too clear during his talks with representatives of the government. Zardugal has large mines which grow in production and efficiency every year. One of the ores mined there is bauxite, a mineral heavily sought after by Mordusia. The Mordusians however produce sulphur, which the Zardigs in turn need most. Through this fact both nations can create a beneficial trade relation between one another. Secondly the general trade of civilian goods and allowing companies to operate within each other’s nations is seen as a general plus.
Like with many foreign heads of state or heads of government, the representative of the Crown, the Governor-General welcomed the Director in Port Alexander at which he showed the ports and various of the local mines. They then hosted lengthy talks in which gifts were exchanged. At the end of it all the Director was treated to a banquet in the Port Palace in Port Alexander. The banquet was attended by the Governor-General, the Prime-Minister and most of his cabinet, the leader of the Her Majesties Loyal Opposition and the Luthorian High Commissioner to Mordusia. At the banquet the Governor-General called the visit ‘’a special moment for both of our nations. Both developing a better life for our citizens and willing to work together on this new budding relationship’’.
