Diplomacy on the march: the Emperor and Giunio on a state visit to Kalopia and Badara

From the trade agreement with Kalopia to strategic cooperation with Badara: Istalia strengthens its regional position between environmental challenges, economic growth and intercultural dialogue

HELIOS - The new diplomatic mission of Emperor Alessandro V and Minister Secretary of State Valeriano Giunio, which will also touch Badara in the coming days, opened with a warm welcome in Helios, the capital of Kalopia. A state visit that will constitute a fundamental step for the diplomatic activity promoted by the Head of Government after the intense reform work within the national borders.

They were received in Kalopia by President Iordanis Sylkesios, with whom negotiations for a new bilateral treaty of economic and commercial cooperation were officially launched. The agreement aims to expand the free trade network built over the years by Istalia, and includes a series of detailed measures: from a regime of regressive duties to promote trade and support mutual investments, through the simplification of customs procedures and closer fiscal cooperation.

One of the central themes, brought directly by the Istalia on the table, concerns the introduction of common product certification standards, especially food products, to combat counterfeiting and protect the authenticity of “majatran” excellence. A particularly delicate point, considering that Kalopia and Istalia share a strong agri-food vocation and are among the main producers of typical specialties. The declared objective is to avoid unfair competition and promote healthy market cooperation.

During their stay in Helios, President Sylkesios accompanied the two guests on a tour of the main districts of the Kalopian ecological transition, strongly desired by the first Green government, one of the few in which an environmentalist party leads a sovereign country. An occasion that has sparked quite a bit of controversy at home: the Green Movement has in fact openly criticized the Giunio government for having maintained and strengthened the agreements signed by previous socialist governments, despite not adopting equally incisive environmental policies on Istalian soil. A spokesperson for the party declared:

It is paradoxical that we are helping Kalopia become a green model while in Istalia we are still far from a serious debate on the environment. This is an opportunity to reverse the trend.

After Kalopia, the Imperial plane will leave to the north, to Badara, where the Emperor and the Minister Secretary will be welcomed by Chancellor Hakim al-Sabah, Foreign Minister Mariamne al-Qassem and the President of the Majlis, Bashir ibn Ortoq. The trip to Badara has a predominantly political-strategic character: Giunio, in addition to reconfirming the excellent relations between Istalia and Badara, intends to consolidate the dialogue on security in the eastern area of Majatra and offer Istalia's collaboration to Badara also to resolve possible internal problems, but also to further stimulate economic relations, with particular attention to the oil industry, in which Istalia sees new opportunities for technological cooperation and supply.

There will also be exchanges on a cultural level: the intense academic activity that has recently invested the Istalian universities, has generated the interest of several universities for joint projects aimed at investigating the most ancient origins of the Majatran civilization, for better or for worse part of the country's history, whose first traces have their roots in the Badara islands.

With this double stop on the continent, Istalia wants to reaffirm not only the centrality of its diplomacy in the regional plan, but also its desire to promote a new model of multilevel cooperation, economic, cultural and on security, based on balance, vision and shared responsibility.
