April 5682 | Badri al-Sadhi elevated to new role, new think-tank formed.
King Tariq and Chief Minister Amjad al-Sadet have announced that Badri al-Sadhi, the brother of the patriarch of the al-Sadhi clan, would be elevated to the position of Deputy Chief Minister for Strategic Affairs. The new position, created to address a number of issues and to have a centralized head within the civilian realm, has generated some controversy according to sources within the General Intelligence Directorate and the Kafuri Armed Forces as a whole. The appointment of a member of the al-Sadhi clan, one of the leading clans from the Banu Bakar, shows deepening ties between the two most prominent tribal confederations in Kafuristan. In addition, it assures the continued cooperation between the relatively powerful Ba'athist and the Majali royalist in the Society of the King. Badri al-Sadhi, who holds the rank of Colonel in the Kafuri Majatran Army, will retain the rank but will be elevated in the civilian political sphere. In an address before the combined Council of Ministers, the General Staff of the Kafuri Armed Forces and the recently renamed Supreme Defense Council the new Deputy Chief Minister announced the formation of the Institute of National Security and Geopolitical Studies (INSGS). The Institute of National Security and Geopolitical Studies will be an amalgamation of various quasi-government offices and think-tanks into one unified research and academic center and will be the premier institution of the Kafuri government but will retain its independence to address the national security and geopolitical issues of the Kafuri government without "undue" influence from the government itself.
