Jelbic power for Zardugal

Plehok II near the capital city of Wiel is one of several smaller nuclear reactors that form an integral part of Wrnuke's energy network.

Since the Summer of 5553 the nations of Wrnuke and Zardugal enjoy a sense of cooperation and friendship, as during that tumultuous summer a treaty was signed between the two nations. In the many years since not much has happened between the two neighbours except for active trade relations, the labour investment fund helping Zardugal's economy recover, and the usual diplomatic niceties. Now however an energy crisis has erupted in Wrnuke's southern neighbour. Private companies in Wrnuke were already in talks with Zardugal to alleviate their troubles and to keep the lights on, but the government took over these talks rather quickly calling for a unified response to Zardugal's struggle. Prefect Krlmékez personally contacted Director Diarmaido and a quick deal was struck to supply electricity. Powerplants across Wrnuke were informed to increase production. One of these powerplants is Plehok II, a small nuclear powerplant near Wiel. Smaller size nuclear powerplants are scattered across the Kingdom, being preferred to larger models. 

One of Wrnuke's largest electricity suppliers, Nrjlogad OF, was immediately informed after the phone call and contracted to connect Wrnuke's power grid to Zardugal's existing infrastructure. The electrical giant received special support from Wrnuke's Land Forces in setting up large cables across the border of the two nations. Agzé Tnes-Pndr, a project manager of Nrjlogad OF, was ecstatic about the operation: "What we have done here has never been done before, to link two electrical grids with such haste, we could not have done it without the army helping." Prefect Grzkai Krlmékez personally visited the operation in full field uniform, even involving himself when helicopters carried the large cables onto a special metal frame. The Prefect made clear to the press at the site that this was a necessity. "The only good Majatra is a Majatra that stands united, that helps each other, our Augustan friends are in trouble, so we help. This is not a question of political opinion but of human decency." The two parties have agreed that the government of Zardugal will pay back any incurred costs at a later date and that fifty percent of those costs will be paid by Wiel.

War on drugs ramps up in rural areas

A successful raid in the city of Krlmek, police have reported a steady increase in illicit drug smuggling across rural Wrnuke.

The RBB (Ryk Bozujimedzín Bro), or State Drug Agency, has released a new report to the public about the increased drug usage in rural areas of the Jelbic Empire. The RBB has been working closely with similar agencies across the Empire to paint a clear picture of current illegal drug consumption. The largest area affected are the rural regions of Jelbe, where designer drugs are causing many issues amongst the population. Wrnuke is also affected, the south-western region of the Kingdom has seen increased cases of the same designer drugs appearing. Within the report of the RBB the origin of these drugs is stated to be Zardugal, though the report adds that Zardugal could simply be a "path to the Jelbic Empire" for the smugglers. An official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that Wiel is in contact with the cabinet of Zardugal to coordinate efforts to combat the illicit drug business.

Meanwhile the National Police has put out extra efforts to combat the smugglers. "Right now there is a national operation within Wrnuke between the RBB, the police and the border guards. The border guards are obviously the first line of defence, while the RBB focuses on in-depth investigations to find sources, supply lines and to predict where future shipments will arrive. Our duty as the police force is to apprehend all interior operations, and with that we have had some great successes recently," said Police Commander Ibram Rnofryské. The southern part of Wrnuke has seen a large increase in anti-drug raids by the police, with the city of Krlmek becoming a hotspot for the illicit operations of the designer drug gangs. The police however is not worried for now, they estimate that at the current rate the entire issue will be resolved within the next two years. RBB analysts however have warned that in imperial member states like Jelbe the local agencies are less equiped to battle these issues.

Wiel intensifies diplomatic efforts

Prefect Grzkai Krlmékez, at the behest of Emperor Bunjamín, has initiated an increased effort into diplomacy with close allies together with Minister Klune Dnk-Kárak of Foreign Affairs. The Emperor has apparently voiced his concern at recent political developments within Wrnuke's close allies, and as sovereign of the Jelbic Empire the integrity of the imperial framework as well as good relations with its allies is His Majesty's primary concern. Minister Dnk-Kárak also added trade relations to this renewed effort, stating at a press conference that she believes in maintaining these relations and even boosting them with all means possible: "Trade should always be mutually beneficial, we believe that mostly it is, but in some cases on side profits more than the other, then it is our duty to balance the scales." At the time it was believed she alluded mostly to the Mordusia mining deal, since the government of Mordusia spoke about decreasing foreign investments and control in their economy. The meeting of Minister Dnk-Kárak and several leading Mordusian figures in their mining industry later confirmed this, showing Wrnuke's commitment to staying in the game. Trade Minister Princess Sófz Banmek-Sntazed, a distant cousin of the Emperor, commented on this as well by saying that "trade is the heart of Wrnuke's thriving economy, we will do what we must to keep the blood of our nation flowing."

First of all Prefect Krlmékez and the Emperor hosted Prime Minister Anna Kadiyot in Wiel, giving the Kingdom a preview on Kadiyot's upcoming world tour in 5572. Emperor Bunjamín insisted on heading the meeting as the figurehead of the Jelbic Empire. The Prefect later commented that the three had a "very productive" session but refused to comment on the details. The Emperor also commented about it to the press saying that the prime minister "understood her role" within the Empire. Political commentators have seen the early visit of Kadiyot to Wiel as a submissive move and with Wiel having no further comments on the meeting they generally agree that Anna Kadiyot agreed to any demands the Emperor and Prefect made. In the near future the Prefect is set to meet with the heads of state in Jelbe and Pontesi as well as the head of government in Barmenistan. A special visit is arranged for President Vanessa zum Clenonberg to Wrnuke in the near future. Wiel has expressed concerns about the recent path of Narikaton & Darnussia, with the social liberal Zum Clenonberg having a tendency to lean rather left on important issues. The Dual Republic has, under her leadership, been more reluctant to align with Wiel's opinions. The government hopes to solve all these "miscommunications" when President zum Clenonberg visits Wiel.

Government commits to joint anti-piracy operation

Ambassador Hkinor Shkmends at Wrnuke's embassy in Eroncourt, mostly known for his relentless yet pragmatic attitude.

Earlier today Prefect Krlmékez phoned Wrnuke's ambassador in Lourenne, Hkinor Shkmends, to instruct him to set a meeting with Eroncourt officials. According to unconfirmed rumours Vice Admiral Kwkh-Ílja, the commander of 'Eastern Operations' within the Naval Forces, has also set off on a plane to Eroncourt but it has not been stated whether he will simply support the embassy or meet with government officials. The offer for joint operations came after the Naval Forces had already set in motion a plan for operations near Vascania as the seizing of an imperial vessel was a slight that could not be ignored by Wiel. In a press conference the secretary of the Prefect announced that ambassador Shkmends has been instructed to formally arrange a cooperation between Eroncourt and Wiel, to assure any cooperation goes smoothly the Prefect has requested clear guidelines, rules, and instructions for all involved personnel. 

The departure of the II. Vlótzgrsho (2nd Fleet) came at a rather awkward time for military command as the Naval Forces had hoped to keep it nearby for the future deployment of the aircraft carrier KJW Rímsa. The Rímsa would be the second vessel of the Kezkai V-class aircraft carrier, with the KJW Támnr being deployed with I. Vlótzgrsho in Port Swedes, Kalistan. The Rímsa was originally set to be put in active service in 5570, a date which was pushed back two years. Before deployments further from home naval planners had hoped to attach the second carrier to the fleet. But this is said not to be a great setback for anti-piracy operations as frigates and smaller faster vessels are far more skilled at chasing down the speedy boats pirates use than a large carrier. If Lourenne and Wrnuke manage to work out a deal the II. Vlótzgrsho is planned to be split in three smaller forces, to join with or be supplemented by vessels from Lourenne and Beiteynu, with the submarines being assigned as lone wolves to patrol and inform the rest of the fleet of pirate activity.

Emperor condemns death of President zum Clenonberg

The imperial household has released a statement written by the Emperor after the news of the horrendous murder of President Vanessa zum Clenonberg. The Emperor met with the President throughout the day on January 1st, a long-awaited meeting between the two which the Emperor personally requested after those governing the various nations of the Jelbic Empire noted that the Dual Republic was changing course considerably. The meeting was an attempt to re-align both parties and continue the cooperation between the Empire and the Dual Republic. Mere hours after the meeting the President of Narikaton and Darnussia was brutally murdered in an act of terrorism. To mourn a young friendship and the loss of a great ally the Emperor wrote the following statement:

Some friendships can grow in a few hours and then already feel like they lasted a long time. This is only how I can describe the charming and kind Vanessa zum Clenonberg. For years we stood at the respective heads of our states, yet we never met personally until yesterday.

During our meeting the President made a lasting impression on me. Tenacious, righteous, caring. Qualities only the greatest among us can attribute to themselves. When I was informed of the tragedy only hours after her departure I felt a strong sadness, like I had lost a close friend.

For several years the Dual Republic of Narikaton and Darnussia and the Great Jelbic Empire seemed to drift apart. When I bid my goodbyes to the President late afternoon yesterday I felt that situation were to change. The matters were settled.

I strongly condemn the cowardly deed that ripped away this bright individual from us, as well as the other innocent lives lost on this flight. I gave my sympathies and prayers to the relatives of all the fallen.

The private jet carrying President zum Clenonberg departed from Wiel an hour after meeting the Emperor, who by then had begun to travel to his private residence. Due to weather and the still unpredictable situation over the Migrant's Pass the jet took a detour by flying towards the Red Bass Ocean. While flying on the western coastline of the Jelbic Empire the airplane vanished from the radar. No emergency signals were given. When the blip disappeared Wrnuke's coast guard units were informed, as a high priority target disappearing off the radar was noted as suspicious. Parts of the wreck were located shortly after. By then the Prefect had alerted all nearby vessels of the Naval Forces to join the attempted rescue mission. The operation is as of today still underway and is attempting to recover the bodies as well as the black box to find definitive proof of the communist plot against democracies across the globe.

Ties severed with Xsampa over "threats against the Empire"

The new naval base in Vascania is a joint project between Wrnuke and Beiteynu, showcasing increased military cooperation.

The Prefect of the Council, esteemed General Grzkai Krlmékez, announced today that the Kingdom of Wrnuke and the Empire of the Jelbic Peoples as a greater unity will sever its formal ties with the Xsampan Democratic Republic, more commonly known as Xsampa. For the past several decades Wiel has tolerated Xsampa in global affairs and maintained neutral to friendly-leaning ties with the socialist regime. The two nations even traded raw materials with each other and for a while a rare Xsampan yak was even hosted in the largest zoo of Wrnuke. Now this all comes to an end as the nation responds to Xsampa's threats made in April this year. The government of Xsampa decided to denounce Beiteynu for constructing a military naval base on an island off the Vascanian coast, omitting that this is a joint project with the Kingdom of Wrnuke. The Jelbic state has long had friendly ties with several regimes in Vascania. In response to not getting a reward for releasing Beiteynuese hostages the socialist junta issued a 'ReStRi' against Beiteynu, a loyal member state of the Jelbic Empire. For Wiel this was one slight too many and as such the existing trade deals were severed between the two nations. Prefect Krlmékez made it clear that "totalitarian socialists and communists across the globe are a threat to the free world." Many see this as the first step of the Jelbic Empire to take harsher steps against dictatorial leftist regimes all over the globe, though the Prefect also sent reassurances towards the Zardic neighbours to the south: "The only sane socialists we have seen are our Augustan brothers in Zardugal, who maintain a level head and seek cooperation instead of aiming for provocation." 

The II. Vlótzgrsho near Vascania has been re-assembled after Lourenne failed to join its own anti-piracy initiative, though the Ministry of Defence remains positive that the Canrillaise Kingdom will pull through. "A large part of our fleet being here is focused on global cooperation, negotiations are ongoing but we feel positive about its outcome." The new carrier KJW Rímsa has joined the II. Vlótzgrsho and assumed its duties as the new flagship of that fleet. The fleet will now focus on its anti-piracy mission and to counter any Xsampan naval presence near the new naval base. In another development several Xsampan spies, some of them retired, have apparently been exposed. An anonymous document was posted across several forum boards online naming Xsampan individuals. On some message boards it came with a message alluding to them being "special agents of Xsampa". The government of the Xsampan Democratic Republic has denied these allegations. The names however seem to match several figures known to have served, or currently serving, with Xsampa's intelligence service. Some news sources speak of foul play, saying the RSB released the names to compromise any of them on foreign missions. The RSB, Wrnuke's intelligence agency, has denied these "baseless allegations".
