Government to build 75,000 social housing units in 5 years, premier Jalar announces

Bianjian cabinet will join efforts with the local governments and build up to 75,000 new housing units across the nation in the next five years, said in the joint briefing Premier Jalar. Kibōjūtaku, translated to Luthorian as the Hope Housing, one of the most ambitious infrastructure projects in recent history was unveiled yesterday morning by the Premier, finance minister Makata Hegiya and the infrastructure minister Huang Zou.

According to the profile minister Zou, the large-scale construction project will target both rural and urban areas, aiming to decrease the housing shortage and reduce the burden of prices for lower and working class families through the social housing programs allocating the newly built homes to those in need. "This is a big step in ensuring that thousands of our families, lower and working class, can live a dignified, secured life with opportunities across the board", premier Jalar said. "Homes like these are and will not be just a roof above people's heads–it's also the foundation of the stability. We're building not just homes, but also people's hopes for a better future in Bianjie, hence the name [chuckles]."

Finance minister Hegiya told reporters that this project will be financed from a couple of sources, with the main ones being: state budget, in particular infrastructure ministry funding; private companies, like the Ambagašan-based Credev, according to the Shōgyōshi sources; and announced for the first time publicly, Xsampa, through an agreement with the Xsampan goverment, that has pledged financial and technical assistance to this project. Hegiya in her final remarks called the project "an investment with long-term returns", and confirmed that the planning and site selection was already underway, with the government expecting the construction to begin by the September of this year.

But, not everyone was as positive about this as the government is. With local elections being a couple of months away, the opposition feels like this announcement serves as a "non-direct attempt to buy voters through cheap populism", BDA statement reads. Leader of the Opposition Tabai Wenggot told in Radio Dokuritsu's morning show that the BDA is "not against housing", but rather what they feel like this project is doing is "trying to distract people from the fact that Bianjie is falling into an autocratic and corrupt wormhole under the SPP".

Meanwhile, Gurun and its leader, Babutai Dartao, former deputy premier and health minister, was rather cautious in his remarks towards the plan, trying to attack the cabinet for not being transparent enough: "Look, we all know and understand that housing is a moral right and necessity, but just saying stuff is not enough, government must assure that people know what their money is being spent on, and be sure that the corporations are not gonna suck off the taxpayer funding, that is a project by the people for the people". PFP has signaled similar discontent with the project, asking for an independent oversight commission to "ensure public, private and foreign funds are used effectively and fairly".

However, one the question also raised by some journalists and commentators is: what will happen to the project, if the current government will not be re-elected in 5638? Premier Jalar responded: "It will be up to the next government, but currently, and for the next 3 years we will be focused on making this happen as much as we can."

Gemun to become connected with Xsampa via new railway project between two nations
Bianjie officially began the construction of the railway network line from Gemun directly to the Xsampan capital city, Metz-Leonid, as a part of the Xsa-Bia Railway project, announced by both governments previously.

Today marks the first day of building what will essentially become a new international railway line linking the capitals of two neighbouring nations. Dubbed as Xsa-Bia Railway (XBR), the project was the subject of interstate negotiations for several months, which helped bring the two nations closer than ever before, first, with Xsampan investment in Kibōjūtaku, now in a XBR being agreed upon and realised in the next couple of years. The project will serve as a tool to boost the cross-border trade, enhance mobility, and deepen diplomatic ties between the two neighboring nations.

"For us here, and I am sure for our colleagues in the west as well, this is not just some railway, it is a symbol of friendship, trust, and a shared ambition to keep our region stable and peaceful", said the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Huang Zou (SPP). "But, obviously, besides all the verbal positives this project will bring, it will also shorten travel times for our citizens, it will create jobs and open various opportunities for the markets, and most importantly, bring our people together, be it on the sunny coasts of Gemun, or beautiful mountains of Metz-Leonid".

Mayor of Gemun, Meiren Karnuk (SPP), called the project "a landmark investment in regional integration," adding that it demonstrates both countries’ commitment to sustainable and future-ready infrastructure. "We expect the XBR to reduce the freight costs by up to 30% and offer a viable alternative to existing, yet hardly accessible highway and road infrastructure", she said during a press event in Metz-Leonid.

And while the BDA was rather neutral in their public response to the announcement, even welcoming the project, but neither praising or criticising the government, the INP attacked the project and government for at all cooperating with Xsampa, whom Innovation Party leader, Yelu Nahata, called "dirty communists". "What are we even doing? Giving up our independence to a bunch of autocrats? This project threatens our industries and hands over too much leverage to a foreign state whose long-term goals are not aligned with our national interest."

According to the government's public calculations, in the best case scenario, the Xsa-Bia Railway is expected to be finished by the 5639. With mountains and other obstacles, be it earthquakes, fires or other natural occurences, infrastructure ministry expects the delay in the work even in the previously mentioned "best case scenario". The same report of the government concludes that the construction of this project will result in the travel time between Gemun and Xsampan capital city, Metz-Leonid to be up to 4 hours, compared to 7-8 hours of that on the cars through direct or indirect routes.

Youth Gurun announces the internal vote to split from the mother party

GEMUN: Secretary-General of the Young Gurun (Wakaguru), Xiang Logiya, in a suprising press conference yesterday morning has announced that the youth wing he leads, will have a membership-only vote within the organisation to decide on whether the Wakaguru should leave the mother party, Gurun. The initiation of the ballot comes after months of internal struggle of the party, following steady decline of the formerly powerful party, and inability to attract new voters. Logiya has been a long critic of the current Dartao leadership of Gurun, with the criticism spiking up following the PPB decision to leave SPP-led government. Wakagurun secretary-general accused Gurun leadership of "cozying up to the elitist forces, like Demaction", and "betraying the real cause", like left-wing economic ideas and proposals that SPP cabinet been rallying around recently.

The vote caught Dartao and his team in a surprise, with Gurun president saying he's "disappointed but not surprised". "It is not like we didn't expect it, because I saw with my own eyes for months now, that they don't want to actually fight for the people, they just need power, that's it". PPB secretary-general Hojo Ciyat told that the national leadership will be following closely, though she hinted that there could be an appeal to courts on the legality of such actions. "I mean, they are free to do it, but at the same time, this raises many questions about the reasoning and what mechanism they will use".

Some officials within Gurun have attacked SPP, accusing them of intervening and pushing Logiya and others to move towards the split. SPP denied that, as the party spokeswoman, Makata Feimo, told Radio Namušun: "What happens in other parties is none of our concerns, as long as it doesn't affect or mentions us. If Gurun is unable to keep their own party together, it is not an issue of SPP, or even BDA, or any other party".

When Logiya was asked what would happen to the Wakaguru in the result of this vote, he answered: "If the vote succeeds, we split, and each individual member is free to do whatever they wish. If the vote fails, I will personally step down as the secretary-general, and leave both the wing and the party. I had thought it through many times, but I do not intend to disclose further what awaits for me and my team in either case".

Finance minister Hegiya says Bianjie is open to businesses around the world

Following the announcement of negotiations between the Luthorian Martwick-Alchester Banking Corporation and the South Dovanian government, regarding former's investment and the creation of a subsidiary branch in the Dovanian country, MABC CEO has also came out and spoke his company's intention to enter Bianjian market as well, but due to the "heavily-regulated economy", it turned off MABC's hopes of creating a subsidiary branch in the near future.

Later this week, Bianjian finance minister, Makata Hegiya (SPP) spoke about the state of the economy, foreign investment, and MABC CEO's statements, exclusively for Radio Gemun. "I want to it perfectly clear for businesses inside our own country and beyond, including those in Luthori: we are open for business, we are open for cooperation and talking about the near future, but at the same time, I want my colleagues in the financial sector to understand that as a government, it is our duty to fight for our own interests, including those of works inside those very same financial structures", Hegiya said during the afternoon show on Radio Gemun. "In negotiations, we will always fight for the best deals for our country, and for the workers who make these businesses possible," Hegiya asserted. "That’s not just a matter of business—it’s a matter of fairness. The strength of our economy is built on the strength of our people. We will ensure that the deals we enter into reflect that principle."

Looking towards the current and the future state, Hegiya about the need to push for reforms to ensure that Bianjian economy was sustainable and inclusive. She stressed that the continued development of key industries such as energy, technology and agriculture were important areas for foreign investment, while at the same time, it was important to protect domestic interests. "Bianjie is not and will never be a place for quick profit, Bianjie is about long-lasting partnerships. We are looking for companies that are not only interested in growing their own bottom lines but also in contributing to the growth and stability of Bianjie and its people", finance minister said.

Niyalma citizen to be imprisoned for 4 years for insulting the Khan
Beine's provincial court found a citizen of Niyalma, Chao Busai, guilty of publicly insulting the king with a poster in the city square and sentenced him to four years in Niyalma's Bodisatu Prison.

In what became one of the harshest and rare occasions of imposing lèse-majesté laws in recent years, a provincial court in Beine has sentenced a local man to four years in prison for publicly insulting the Khan. Chao Busai, 49, a citizen of Beine's provincial capital city, Niyalma, was found guilty of displaying a poster in Niyalma's Ambatalin Square that the court deemed defamatory and derogatory towards the nation's monarch. According to the ruling, Busai's actions constituted "a deliberate and public affront to the dignity of the monarchy", a punishable violation under Bianjian monarchy and national security laws.

Tayiji Piao (SPP), interior minister, following the court ruling, has convened a briefing to talk about the incident. "The law is the law, and we must all obide to it. You may not like it, and that is fine. That is why the legislative bodies, be it provincially or nationally, like Yuan, exist. In Busai's case, it is up to public to debate whether the court ruling is fair, in the end, he is free to appeal to the Supreme Court". When journalists asked Piao whether he would support the reform or complete abolition of the national lèse-majesté law, Piao refused to answer.

The arrest, and later the court ruling, went viral on social media platforms, sparking a nationwide debate with opinions divided between those condemning the actions of Busai and those questioning the severity, and in some cases even the mere existence of lèse-majesté laws in the nation. Sources within the security forces also reported that authorities have tried to order social media platforms to take down some online posts with criticisms of the crown, law enforcement or the laws.

Former Gurun youth wing leader forms his party months before election

GEMUN: Xiang Logiya, who has previously served as the secretary-general of the Young Gurun (Wakaguru), following a chaotic split vote, which left Gurun without a youth wing amidst dying 18-29yo vote for the party, has announced yesterday that the majority of his team will form a new left-wing progressive force "as a counterweight to those in Gurun". Logiya's new party, New Dawn (新しい夜明け), symbolises a new movement of the working class youth and others, as the "Gurun's sun set down after years of negligence of their voters". Logiya says New Dawn is still open to work with Gurun on many issues, but added that he hopes that "political moves like these will make them [Gurun] think and change for the betterment of their own results, and hundreds of thousands of voters, who vote and trust them".

While many disillusioned voters have found any potential alternative to Gurun from or outside of former PPB members positive, a new express opinion poll commissioned exclusively on the request of the Daily Express for our readers, shows that the ND would capture 3% of the vote, had the election been held today, with Gurun vote collapsing even further, but going instead to the PCP and SPP, bringing their joint results to the edge of the majority government, with 113 seats together, just 2 seats short of the coalition majority.

Gurun leader, Babutai Dartao, who has been under a personal scrutiny within the party, as Gurun is rapidly declining, with a prospect of either not entering Yuan at all, or up to just 10 seats total, making it the worst result ever for a party, reacted to the formation of a new party shortly: "We are focused on defending our people, not playing some pity political games". Though he also, alike to Logiya, did not rule out cooperation with the new party, would that be required in the next Yuan. "My priority is the legislation that makes people's lives better, and I don't care who that will be that I have to work with, be it SPP or that new bunch if they will even enter", said Dartao.

Premier Jalar's Socialist People's Party secures yet another term in office

In a result that was a suprise to no one, incumbent ruling Socialist People's Party of Premier Sain Jalar has won yet another term in office. After a months of campaigning, and tense voting day with some polling stations reporting clashes between voters, mostly verbal, State Electoral Administration has released full results of the election, confirming thus the SPP victory last Saturday. 

While SPP victory was not in doubt, the question this election was regarding other parties, and whether SPP allies would get enough seats to form a stable majority coalition government. And the answer was: yes. SPP's "natural coalition partner", Progressive Communist Party reportedly has gained up to 5 seats, which would put at a total of 10 seats, and a 4th place overall. With socialists also gaining up to 6 seats from Gurun, independents and others, an incumbent coalition would still sit at 114 seats, which is just one short of the majority. Which brings to the new political party, a split of the Gurun, youth-oriented left-wing progressive New Dawn, which will win 6 seats, enough to put SPP-PCP well over the 115 threshold for a majority government. With ND party leader, Xiang Logiya reaffirming that his party "is open for cooperation" with SPP-led coalition.

For the other side of the isle it was quite a disappointing night. While PFP remained somewhat stable and even managed to gain back the Gemun 8th district of the party's former leader, Tayiji Itumo, other opposition parties were not that happy. BDA akin to the PFP remained stable in their result, though lost two seats, bringing them to a total of 63. But then was Gurun. Formerly a major and powerful ruling party, will win 16 seats, down 8 compared to the 5633 result, making it the new worst election result ever for the third time in a row. Party leader, Babutai Dartao, in an upset result has lost his Niyalma 5th seat to the independent Mei Chang. Dartao in his concession speech announced that he will step down, but promised to continue to fight for Gurun. "My story as a leader is over, but my story as a Gurun member did not. I understand the disappointment, and that is why I am stepping down", Dartao said.

Other surprising development of the electoral night became the total wipeout of the Innovation Party, with the party failing to win either single-member district or any seats in the proportional blocks. INP leader Yelu Nahata conceeded, but also accused SPP government of fraud: "Our numbers do not match those from the SEA, so I am gonna ask a simple question: what happened? I am not denying these results, I am simply asking questions".

With 114 seats total of the two parties currently forming the government, and the possible entrance of New Dawn into the coalition, next cabinet will surely be a majority one, for the first time since 5633, when Gurun opted to not repeat the coalition with SPP following disatreous election results. Premier Salar has thanked her voters, and promised the nation that "more is yet to come".

Gemun Stock Exchange sees steady gains as infrastructure sector leads growth

For a couple of months now, Gemun Stock Exchange (GEMEX) saw steady gains as the publicly-owned utilities and infrastructure firms continued to outperform markets’ expectations, boosted by the government’s intense investments in and the expansion of the transit, housing and energy programs.

Gemex’s Public Services Index, the one which is used for tracking the general infrastructure sector, that includes construction, transit, housing, water, energy and other companies, rose 5,3% over the past month, marking the highest level of the index in decades. Experts and market insiders attribute the rally to the new contracts signed by the government with the private companies, positive independent reports and the political stability of the government, which all contributes to the long-term confidences of the investors in the current economic model of Bianjie.

Ambagašan-based Credev has been leading the charge, seeing its share price rise up to 11% last couple weeks, as the government Kibōjūtaku is seeing its final stage and local governments already preparing the first wave of the newly-built social housing units for service. Another strong performance comes from the state-owned Bianjie National Railways (BNR or Kokusen), which just has recently finished the massive project of Xsa-Bia Railway (XBR), which connected Bianjie’s capital city, with the eastern neighbour’s, Xsampa, capital city as well. Despite hoping for worse, XBR was finished in time planned by the Kokusen, with its CEO, Anil Zhu, ceremonially opening the multi-billion g'an Metz-Leonid-Gemun-Gramdkarpo route. «In Bianjie, we view infrastructure not as a cost, but as an investment in the equality, accesibility and long-term stability and growth», Zhu said.

Finance minister Makata Hegiya, speaking earlier this week, reinforced the government’s approach to supporting key public sectors through market mechanisms. “We believe the public interest and economic activity can go hand in hand,” Hegiya told Radio 562. “Gemex is one of our tools—not just for profit, but for nationbuilding, at home and beyond.”

WIth Kibōjūtaku entering its final stage, and SPP-led cabinet planning more project, Gemex is evolving into a hybrid space: one where public values and private capital are interwining, and for some investors, this blend could be the thing they’re looking for, hopefully.
