EM Marissen: Reviewing Luthorian-Dual Monarchist Trade Relations

It feels like we're writing this article every two decades, in a recently announced trade-natured visit to Luthori Economic Minister Jette Marissen (Corporate) has teased us that the governments of Luthori and Narikaton & Darnussia are effectively trying to review the economic relationsship again and seek to expand the ties that bind them. What both have finally admitted is that there are fundamental problems, in fact it seems almost ridiculous how problematic it has been for the companies of the neighbouring nations to gain a foothold in either of them. Most pundits describe it as problem of "highly competitive and developed economies." Especially the market of Narikaton and Darnussia who's very open and internationally fought over and the Luthorian market who is been protected by domestic Lobbying have shown this phenomenon. Well, it seems like that once again these two are trying to finally overcome this. Marissen has announced that car manufacturers and contractor-factory owners as well as some entertainment industry corporations are "willing to try." Äccording to the official documents released to the public this includes the luxury car firm "Jamborghini," "Thaller Industries" and the social-media platform "Elite Club."

Direction of Economy sparked OF-VVP screaming-match in Senate

OF member criticizing missing VVP initiative in regards to economy.

After rather uneventful two years and conservatively observing the state of economic development the Beidel administration has proposed a series of very marginally interventionist proposals in subsidies and monetary policy to gradually steer the economy away from oversized military-industrial production. These proposals have been received rather badly from the Orderfaction who call this "indecisive action threatening the future of the Dual Monarchy." Beidel and VVP-chairman Julius Fetternwirtschaft have rejected these comments as "baseless insults." Pundits explain that essentially, the OF is looking to immediately start a massive enlargement and modernization of the Ground and Air Forces to keep the military industrial sector growing. On the polar oppposite Reichskanzler Beidel is seeking to let the market do it thing and see that the shrinking of the military industrial complex due to the dissolution of its largest consumer, the former member states of the Jelbic Empire, is going along more smoothly than without any hands on the situation. This debate has essentially frozen the cabinet over the last two years with petty tactics from the OF controlled Finance Ministry blocking all other major projects. While most expected Empress Theodora or her husband Emperor Wrntukai II to intervene in the process to break the political tie, the family is currently busy enjoying their honeymoon period. The passivity of the Monarch is also explained by her recent announcement of pregnancy. According to the statement of the Royal Press-Corp "The Empress is busy with preserving her health as her Majesty is focussed on avoiding any potential issues with the pregnancy due to age." The only solution that seemed reasonable enough to get all parties to nod off was the proposal pushed by Economic Minister Marissen who has taken the middle-ground in the sense of aiming to provide one branch of the Forces, the Airforce to create a buffer and mediate the economic stress on the markets. According to her this could give the consumer goods sector even more time to fill the void. While expansion into Luthori and the gradual growth of all Thaller Industries Subsidiaries are starting to fill the void left by the arms-consumption of the JE, it is not yet on Imperial levels.

New DAL design to start off Airforce Program

Concluding the story of our last report, the two dominant parties of the Senate, the VVP and the OF have finally managed to finalize the general direction of the economy and have begun to funnel funds and offer contracts into the aircraft modernization program. Its almost like a collective sigh perceivable through the entire nation as the plans were lying around for years but having state-money go anywhere in Narikaton and Darnussia is a path of heavy-resistance with the VVP positioned at the levers of power. The first phase of this program starts with increased state interest and involvement in the development and procurement of Airforce equipment. Currently the Dual Monarchist Airforce only consists of very old aircraft which hasnt seen any considerable training action in recent years except for some very modern jets bought from Pontesi. The Dual Monarchy is pushing 12 billion DMRK via a longterm plan into the domestic aircraft producer Darnussia Aeronautics Limited to produce its in-house flagship that is the DAL-AMAINE1 as well as other aircraft which has not been announced yet. This is an immense concentration of funds but has been described as a necessary move from Minister Großklotz as the defensive capabilites in every aspect but the navy are "not optimal." Most pundits see this as an exaggerated euphemism. This decision comes as both parties have agreed to the proposed compromise of EM Marissen including some modification. The VVP demanded the axing of state-funds in the pension system which hurts the OF's image as a paternal party. Continuing placating the VVP for this immense act of government investment is the liberalization of Nährrode which is now focussing on cashcrops such as coffee and increases its weight in its self-declared war against Xsampas strawberry dominance.

War breaks out, Wrntukai flees Dual Monarchy:

After what looked like a positive turn after years of geopolitical instability caused by Vanuku leaving and the subsequent Dissolution of the Jelbic Empire, Narikaton and Darnussia once again finds itself at a crossroads. Reichskanzler Josef Beidel who’s sometimes seen as dead in the water as his dependency on a monarch, who is paralyzed after bringing her first son to Terra; the young Adlé of Banmek-Sntazed-Jrl, sees him trying desperately to steer the country in the right direction. Recently, after a rumored night-out with the Zardic Head of State on a diplomatic mediation partying spree, Beidel was confronted with the news of the decision of  de-jure Emperor of the Jelbic Empire Wrntukai II to order the Beiteynese navy to shoot at Xsampan targets. This news has not gone down well with the Dual Monarchist government and the political establishment, especially among the good old VVP, leading Beidel to make the unilateral decision to order the arrest of Wrntukai citing “Crimes against Humanity.” The latter managed to flee from his last known location which was the Lackmann Residence on Jorgen Island due to his Elite Royal Jelbic guard blocking attempts of Corporate Security in accordance with SASa guidance to fulfil the Chancellor’s arrest order. According to circles close to the Emperor, he has escaped to a hideout in Beiteynu where he now tries to consolidate what remains of his power. The fate of Empress Theodora is unknown, press-releases of her own office have ceased and the Reichskanzler’s Speaker is committed to repeating the message that she is well taken care of and with the rest of her family which leads most to speculate that she is currently at the mercy of the Thaller main-branch. Her personal attaché said that she is currently not fit to rule and as such has delegated her powers to Reichskanzler Beidel who apparently is now politically supercharged enough to engage in the necessary actions.

The diplomatic fallout of Wrntukai’s action is immeasurable as the Soviet Republic of Vanuku (the Kingdom’s successor state) has taken it upon themselves to help their sister-nation of Xsampa. Two Carrier groups of the Soviets have been spotted by Dual Monarch intelligence which in response has caused the total mobilization of all naval assets. Minister of Defense Großklotz organized a wall of trade-fleet task forces to meet hostile elements at sea. “There is currently no threat of conflict, the Reichskanzler is trying to negotiate with the Vanukese officials to find a solution to this immediately.” Pundits explain that one might wonder why the Dual Monarchy is getting more involved. The answer is simple, Beiteynu is the largest single economic entity with incredibly developed ties to the domestic economy of Narikaton and Darnussia as well as the fact that Beiteynu is a military ally. While they cannot trigger a mutual defense clause due to the conflict happening in Dovani it is still a situation which prompts potential Dual Monarchist military involvement.

Additionally corporate elements who are rumored to actually control the country are worried about the economic assets in the region and demand the trade-fleet fulfil its protection purpose. What makes the situation even more sensitive is the fact that Beidel is demanding Beiteynese cooperation to bring Wrntukai to justice which has been met by deaf ears for now. Allegedly Beidel is threatening the secession of the Nisrad of Himmelshtern, which recently saw a wave of VVP politicians elected to office, in retaliation if the Moledet Medinat wasn’t bending to the Dual Monarchist will. Regarding other parties already involved or trying to involve themselves the Chancellor only found spare words. “We’re offering humanitarian aid to all victims of this catastrophe- as any good hosian would-  and advise other geopolitical forces to stop intervening unnecessarily.”

Beidel starts Paperwork Offensive

Following Months of diplomatic tensions between Beiteynu and the Dual Monarchy, Reichskanzler Beidel has raised an army of lawyers in tandem with the corporate elements of the government of Narikaton and Darnussia to start a paperwork offensive against Beiteynu trying to get the Sedek courts to clarify certain administrative boundaries between the Neset (the yeudish trade network), Yishelem and the other Nisrads. Pundits explain that this is a direct legal attack against the central government of Beiteynu as its authority has been diminishing already and that the triggering of constitutional cases is basically another heavy salve of state-crisis fuel against the failing Medinat State. Looking deeper behind the courtain of verbal attacks and legal shenanigans, this all is still a symptom of Beiteynu’s series of diplomatic blunders of the past two years and the steady rising of the primacy of diplomacy in Bannerhafen. The demands on delivering Wrntukai to the Dual Monarchy have still not been met instead the Foreign Ministry of Beiteynu is acting like they do not have the information their closest ally wants. While the actions against each other are somewhat limited due to economic interest, rumors have it that a shadow-war is brewing. Narikaton and Darnussia are moving a lot of classified assets and are shuffling budgetary documents around the Senate to obfuscate the financial papertrail of their current activities. Some suspect that certain Bills now dubbed “Berry-Bills” which officially aim to help the transformation toward strawberrys and other cashcrops, to win against the stupid Xsampan reds, in Nährrode are really just a front for military and intelligence expenses which would bloat the defence spending of the last few years even more.

Breaking the Cycle: Beiteynu-DM Financial Market breaks pattern

The failing central authority of the Beiteynese government in Yishelem and its recent attempts to restore hierarchical order via erratic diplomatic maneuvers have cost the nation as a whole dearly. Many companies even bigger ones have decided to change financial policy which seems to mark the end of the cyclical flow of capital between Bannerhafen and Yishelem. Many companies such as Hadayim and Biraero have decided to list on the Bannerhafen stock-exchange instead of Tel Bira and are trying to change the ownership structure to have it be seated in the Dual Monarchy. A whole other wave of problems is showing with the delisting of many larger corporations of Beiteynu. Summarily it seems like diaspora money is trying to flee from the holy land to more secure and worthwhile locations. Pundits are somewhat surprised by this news as the Yeudis have in more recent history withstood these pressure-factors but it looks like this is actually a sign of the times and that Beiteynu is experiencing deep structural problems it seemingly cant overcome. Among the economic elite it is rumored that this has been expected for a while now, all starting with the hostile-takeovers the Dual Monarchy has started a few years ago. An anonymous source told us the following: “What changed is that the diplomatic tactical confidence in the Moledet Medinat has been lost. All of this obviously also ties to a loss in trust in the most fundamental institutions of Beiteynu including the monarchy. People are starting to ask what Beiteynu even is; what unites such a diverse people; or the better question, is it even a ‘people?’”

These most recent economic developments only amplify the pivot of many Beiteynese institutions to Narikaton and Darnussia, seeing that in the younger history of mutual relations, our Dual Monarchy has postured itself as the “Defender of the Yeudi People.” Reichskanzler Beidel who currently is on a political crusade against the Orderfaction ans is trying to purge jingoist elements from the Diplomatic Corp has hitched on the train and started ad-campaigns baiting specifically people of Himmelshtern to apply for Dual Monarchist citizenship.

Republicans surge in polls

In recently published polls by the Dual Monarchist Market Affairs Institute, a newly emergent party just called “Die Republikaner” (Luth. The Republicans) are seeing a drastic increase in their poll numbers. Political experts explain that the population of Narikaton and Darnussia are looking with nostalgia back to the days of the Dual Republic as the consolidation of power by Theodora Lackmann is continuously viewed in a negative light. A lot of momentum has been gained by the rash political decision of Emperor Wrntukai II on ordering to shoot Xsampan vessels and his subsequent flight from the Dual Monarchy. Middle-class voters feel like the authoritarian restrictions and the overly-powerful crown which according to public perception is in the hands of corrupt maniacs are directly responsible for a regional trend of destabilization. While ideologically the electorate pivoting toward the Republican Party isn’t very homogenous, they’re united in their demand to abolish the crown and return to what they call “the righteous ways of old day Republicanism.” At least that is the approach that the pragmatic parts of the party are advocating for, other dedicately more left-wing elements call for a “New Dual Republic” (NDR) which works in favor of all instead of the few, words that remind one of the late Vanessa zum Clenonberg.

Years of tiptoeing and straining diplomatic relations with their main-ally and economic partner have culminated in the sacking of Sharon Goldbloom and the coup-de-grace of Maria Kadiyot have brought the world close to a total breakdown of relations between Beiteynu and Narikaton and Darnussia. Reichskanzler Beidel in a press-conference has announced his further plans for escalating the conflict.

With a stern grimace he has announced the full support of Bannerhafen-sponsored candidate “Richard ‘Richi’ Geilberg” for the Secretariat of the Nisrad of Himmelshtern. He is known to be one of the most radical opponents of Yishelem’s central authority and said that in the first week of his term Himmelshtern would secceed from Beiteynu. Even though he is set to win according to reasonably believable polls cited by Beidel, there is reason to believe that the “wretched Kadiyot-administration seeks to disturb the democratic process of the Nisrad in question.” Hence the Dual Monarchy is going to follow the invite of the Security Officials of Himmelshtern to send troops to Lekavot and station four Task forces of the nearby Trade-fleet there, a sizable chunk of the Dual-Monarchist navy, at least that is what the Chancellor explained to the press-corp.

This raised many eyebrows and a horrifying silence set in the room as people started to contemplate the possibility of war between Narikaton and Darnussia and the Moledet Medinat. Beidel continued to fuel the fires of terror by saying “the Central Authority of the Moledet Medinat has ceased to exist; they disqualified themselves from protecting the Yeudi people. The Diaspora and the security of the yeudi people now lie with different suzerains. And as one of these Suzerains we are going to protect Himmelshtern and its people, not Yishelem.”  In summary this meant that around 70 naval vessels of the Grand Armada would be visible from Beiteynu’s coast and that after centuries of mutually friendly relations, the Dual Monarchy would put boots on the ground of it’s greatest ally and friend. Pundits among the positive ‘outlookers’ say that this is Beidel giving Yishelem a final chance to backdown before Narikaton and Darnussia would enforce it’s will on Beiteynu.
