Dundorf 5730: Voters To Choose President and Bundestag Simultaneously
August 5730
Dundorfians will go to the polls in two months, and they'll choose both the President and the Bundestag at the same time.
Dunburg - This October Dundorfians will be called once again to the polls to elect a Federal President, as the first five year term of Gertrude Von Koepf comes to an end, and to elect a new Bundestag, as the four year term concludes. It's the first time in decades that the Presidential and Legislative elections are held at the same time, usually the Presidential election is held in the first part of the year and the legislative election is held in October. This year, the Bundeswahlkomission (Federal Electoral Commission) decided to hold a single election day in October to obtain 'significant' savings.
While the campaigns for the Legislative elections are just starting, the Presidential race is in full swing: a two three horse race between incumbent Social-Democratic President Gertrude Von Koepf, challenged to her left by DRF's Carolina Roth and to her right by TLD's Friedrich Von Schirach, who ran against Mrs. Von Koepf five years ago. The President is running with the support of her party, DSDP, and the Green Party. She held negotiations with DRF to build a single united front of the left, but that project ended when Carolina Roth announced her candidacy. On the other side of the political spectrum, Mr. Von Schirach is running with united support: NDZP and KBP have both endorsed TLD's candidacy.
A big absent in this Presidential election is the Pirate Party: the Pirates are currently in an internal crisis and turmoil following Dr. Engel's resignation as leader following the disappointing results of the 5726 elections, and are dropping fast in polls. A recent poll suggests the Pirates are currently sitting at 5% in Legislative vote intentions, which is a decrease of about 4 points compared to 5726 and is barely enough to get into Bundestag. The party did not offer an endorsement to any of the candidates and instead instructed its members to 'vote according to individual conscience'.
The Zeitung sponsored a poll, realized by StatDun, to assess the status of the Presidential race two months before the election:

Forty Years Later, the Center-Right Bloc Returns to Power
October 5730 (backdated)
Dundorf's Hosian-Democratic party NDZP and its allies secure an historic victory in both Presidential and Legislative election.
DUNBURG - In 5690, a renewed center-left bloc led by a young Matthias Werner won the Federal Election months after Lorena Oberlitz secured for DSDP the Presidential seat. That was also the first election in which the Pirate Party partecipated in, siphoning several votes away from the center-right bloc for the years to come, according to some of our nation's top political experts. Since then, Dundorf has several coalition governments: center-left bloc, NDZP-led Grand Coalitions, DSDP-led Grand Coalition, but never again a proper center-right bloc, composed by the traditional members of the alliance NDZP (New Dundorfian Centre Party), TLD (Team Liberal-Democrats) and KBP (Conservative Federal Party).
That will change following this election: the 'Blue Bloc', as it has been informally named, is projected to gain a majority of the seats in the Bundestag and the NDZP is poised to become the first party of the nation, meaning the era of Matthias Werner and Renate Reinhardt's DSDP newfound de-facto domination is coming to an end. Not only that: in the first round of the Presidential election, held simultaneously with the Bundestag election, the unity center-right candidate, Friedrich von Schirach (TLD), is projected to narrowly win, defeating all expectation for a hotly contested second round between him and outgoing President Gertrude von Koepf (DSDP).
Come next month, Dundorf will have a TLD President residing in Karlottenberg Schloss and a likely NDZP Chancellor taking hold of the Federal Chancellery, marking an extraordinary comeback after forty years. What made this comeback possible is most likely the complete collapse of the Pirate Party: leaderless after Dr. Engel's resignation and experiencing constant internal turnoil. The Pirates are locked out of the threshold in three states and will bring to Dunburg a delegation of just 20 members, more than halved compared to 5726. The DSDP also reported losses, extremely common for a party who commanded several governments in the past decades, losing about 1.3 percentage points and five seats in the Bundestag. Clearly, Social-Democratic losses have not been as dramatic as the Pirates, but nevertheless it allowed for the NDZP to regain the first place: eleven more seats and 1.2 more percentage points than four years ago.
The big winner of the night, the party that propelled the 'blue bloc' more than anyone else is the Conservative Federal Party: winning 11% of the votes and thirteen more seats than 5726, meaning they have successfull recovered after sluggish showings in the past decade. Political commentators say that the reason of their success if that right-leaning more populist voters who once called the Pirates their home, have returned to vote the KBP for its fiscally-conservative and populist anti federal government message. The Liberal-Democrats also reported an excellent result, continuing to increase their vote share and reaching a record 16%, just 4 points shy of the DSDP.
Other parties on the left are rather stable, GPP lost a tiny fraction of the votes, losing only 1 seat, and DRF increased marginally, securing the spot as 4th largest party.
Now, a Presidential transition will happen in the following months, meaning the formation of the new government may be slower: outgoing President von Koepf called Mr. von Schirach to congratulate him and officially invited him to visit Karlottenberg Schloss, which will become his new home. People close to the President-elect described the phone call as 'warm' and described Mrs. von Koepf's tone as 'gracious'. The sources also confirmed that the President-elect intends to appoint a NDZP figure to lead the next Federal Government. Mr. von Schirach also publicly praised the outgoing President for having secured a renewal of relations with Xsampa.

PRESIDENT CALLS ON FELDER TO FORM GOVERNMENT
ODERVELD – LEUCHTFEUER
Bundestag, October 19, 5730 (backdated): Bundesprasident Friedrich von Schirach was asked by ODERVELD – LEUCHTFEUER what was the next step for him after the elections, and he responded:
First off let me thank all those who supported me in this election. I do pledge to faithfully discharge my office and preserve and protect the institutions of the Bundesrepublik.
Quote:Seven parties received seats in the Bundestag, and as Bundesprasident I shall identify and name at least two possible combinations for a governing coalition. As the media has noted, the Center Right bloc of Neue Dundorfische Zentrumspartei (NDZP), Team Liberaldemokraten (TLD) and Konservative Bundespartei (KBP), which has been unable to do so for many years, could form a Bundeskabinett since that combination would have a majority of the seats.
It does appear to me the other viable option would be continuation of the Dundorf Sozialdemokratische Partei (DSDP), NDZP and TLD coalition which forms the current Bundeskabinett.
Since under the split term arrangement of DSDP and NDZP, Hermann Felder is the current Kanzler as well as leader of the NDZP, I have asked him to see if he can form a government.

AIR FORCE GETS MORE RAFALES
ODERVELD - LEUCHTFEUER
Defence Ministry, May 27, 5732: Defence Minister Karl-Hermann Bodenschatz today approved the recommendation of the Chief of Staff of the Oberkommando Bundeswehr (OKB) that OKB Ableitung II be directed to contract with Donnerluft to purchase fifteen more Rafale B/C F 4.2’s for the Luftwaffe as requested by Oberkommando Luftwaffe (OKL). It is expected delivery can be made over the next 22 months which will give the Luftwaffe roughly three squadrons of the Rafale B/C F 4.2’s.
During the period of the Humanitarian Alliance, the Bundesrepublik had several agreements with Royaume Uni de Lourenne and Royaume Uni de Kanjor One resulted in Donnerluft acquiring the capability and authority to produce the Rafale B/C F 4.2 which seemed to have been an asset of Canraillaise Defense Enterprises.
This Rafale is a twin engine delta wing multirole fighter aircraft capable of performing missions of air supremacy, interdiction, air reconnaissance, ground support, in depth strikes, anti ship strikes, and nuclear deterrence.
The glass cockpit is designed around the concept of data fusion, and many multi function displays are available as needed. While not a stealth aircraft per se, extensive use of composite materials and serrated construction have considerably reduced its radar signature.
The Rafale B/C F 4.2 has a 10.90 meter wingspan and a gross weight of 15,000 kilograms. It has two turbofan jet engines with afterburners which can achieve a maximum speed of 1912 kilometers per hour with a combat range of 1850 kilometers, a rate of climb of 304.8 meters per second and a service ceiling of 15,835 meters.
The Rafale B/C F 4.2 has one 30 mm autocannon and 14 hardpoints which can carry air to air, air to surface, nuclear and hypersonic missiles or drop tanks or a reconnaissance pod, refueling pod or target pod.

Beer Entrepreneur Egon Moltenhauer Wins DSDP Leadership Election
October 5732
Egon Moltenhauser is an outsider who knows very well the DSDP, and became the party's first non-politician leader.
DUNBURG - In an unexpected turn of events, Egon Moltenhauer, a former CEO of Hendricker, one of Dundorf's top beer producers, has won the second round of the Social-Democratic leadership election, winning more than 55% of the votes as an outsider. The election was planned after incumbent Secretary Renate Reinhardt announced her intention to retire following the 5730 elections, in which the DSDP performed poorly. Contesting this internal elections were some of DSDP's most prominent politicians: Kasper Brozovìc, already a candidate for Secretary in 5607, and today sitting as the DSDP Group Leader in the Bundestag, Gertrude Von Koepf, the former President from 5725 to 5730, who was defeated for re-election two years ago and Peer Van Der Koff, a long-time senior politician who held the position of Minister of Justice. A fourth candidate, an outsider who was unexpected to be competitive at all, was Mr. Moltenhauer, who, after retirement as CEO, decided to get into politics "to build a better Dundorf and to renew the Social-Democratic Party".
In the race, Mr. Brozovìc and Mrs. Von Koepf ran as representatives of the most left-wing groups of the DSDP, while Mr. Van Der Koff ran as a moderate. A long time supporter and donor to the party, Mr. Moltenhauer is not affliated with any group within the DSDP and ran as a 'pragmatic progressive'. To be fair, Egon Moltenhauer is not a new figure for the DSDP at all. As a private citizen, he never hid his support for the DSDP and was the external keynote speaker in several party meetings.
The "Moltenhauer surprise", as it has been rebranded, started in the first round of voting, held exclusively among the elected officials (Bundestag + Landtag) across the country. Mr. Brozovìc easily cleared the field with 95 votes, also thanks to his prime position among his Bundestag peers, securing the first position in the run-off. Mr. Moltenhauer was unexpectedly able to persuade enough members, especially in the regional landtags, to vote for him, securing 65 votes against two more established candidates and accessing to the run-off.
The run-off was held yesterday among all members registered with the DSDP, approximately 1.4 millions in the whole nation, and incoronated Mr. Moltenhauer as the new Federal Secretary of the Party, the first ever non-professional politician to be elected as such. Decisive to his victory, our experts say, was the endorsement of former Justice minister Peer Van Der Koff (who notoriously doesn't get very much along his colleague Kasper Brozovìc), furthermore, many members of the party felt it was time for an outsider to renew and embolden the party once again, according to an exit poll. Mr. Moltenhauer will assume the office of Federal Secretary tomorrow, a day which will mark the end of the long tenure of Mrs. Reinhardt, lasted more than 25 years.
5732 DSDP Leadership Election:
1st Round (elected members only: 222. Top two advance to membership run-off vote)
- Kasper Brozovìc of Grozvic: 95 - advance
- Egon Moltenhauer of Dunlake: 65 - advance
- Gertrude Von Koepf of Oderveld: 34
- Peer Van Der Koff of Dunlake: 28
2nd Round (registered: 1.399.913, turnout 88,2%)
- Egon Moltenhauer of Dunlake: 682.799 (55,3%) - elected Federal Secretary
- Kasper Brozovìc of Grozvic: 551.827 (44,7%)

Dundorf 5734: Pirates Go Extinct as Center-Right Bloc Holds Majority
October 5734
This election hasn't significantly changed the balance of power, except for the ouster of the Pirate Party from the Dundorfian Bundestag.
DUNBURG - The story of the night, following the October Federal Election, is that the next Dundorfian Bundestag will not feature the presence of the Pirate Party, an anti-establishment populist party that sought to break Dundorf's traditional blocs politics since 5690. The ouster come after forty-four years in Bundestag, and a term served in government where the former historical leader, Dr. Theodore Engel, served as Minister of Finance. The party, for the last five or six years, suffered from internal turmoil and constant disorganization which led to gradual loss of support over time, culminating in a record low 3% and no representation at all this year. Political experts are unsure whether the Pirates can survive this year, our own Thomas Wahl: "The Pirate Party doesn't have a clear leader, has as many factions as it has voters and they've not been relevant since the 5710s. In my opinion, this is a dying party, nearing political extinction."
Other parties performed as expected, there are no dramatic gains or losses elsewhere in the political spectrum, if not for a minor realignment in the center-right bloc, where the Liberals have lost one point and a half, gained from their junior ally the KBP. Overall, Chancellor Hermann Felder's center-right coalition has retained roughly the same votes compared to four years ago and expanded slightly their majority in Bundestag. For this reason, our decision desk believes in all probability that the incumbent government will serve a second term, reaching 5738.
Within the opposing bloc, DSDP-led center-left coalition, every party seems to benefit from the Pirates' collapse as all the members of the alliance gain voters and representation in Bundestag. This was the first showing for Egon Moltenhauer's DSDP, and the party failed in its primary objective to overtake the NDZP, but "nevertheless stopped its vote bleeding and consolidated its position as the leader of the 'red bloc'", Mr. Moltenhauer said.
The new leader of the DSDP also said exclusively to the Zeitung:
Quote:We congratulate the NDZP and its allies on this confirmatory victory, and wish them a second term full of success. We note that turnout feel a bit compared to four years ago, and Social-Democrats are ready to mobilize once again these disappointed Dundorfians and regain the Chancellery in 5738!
5734 Dundorfian Legislative Election
Turnout: 88.441.072 (79% | -1,5% vs 5725)
New Dundorfian Centre Party (NDZP): 20.131.983 | 22,8% and 148 seats (+0,3% and +1)
Social-Democratic Party of Dundorf (DSDP): 18.396.099 | 20,8% and 134 seats (+0,6% and +3)
Team Liberal-Democrats (TLD): 13.014.725 | 14,7% and 96 seats (-1,5% and -8)
Dundorfian Red Front (DRF): 11.924.123 | 13,5% and 88 seats (+0,8% and +8)

FELDER BUNDESKABINETT II A REPEAT WITH NDZP, TLD AND KBP
ODERVELD – LEUCHTFEUER
Bundestag, October 27, 5734 (Backdated): In view of the Neue Dundorfische Zentrumspartei (NDZP) lead in Bundestag seats, Federal President Friedrich von Schirach has called on Federal Chancellor Felder to form a governing coalition. Failure of the Pirates to secure any seats in the Bundestag pretty much insured either the Center Left Bloc or Center Right Bloc would have a majority.
The Center Right governing coalition of NDZP, Team Liberaledemokraten (TLD) and Konservative Bunsdespartei (KBP) obtained a majority albeit a very narrow majority so Felder of 328 to 302 seats.
The Felder Bundeskabinett II I virtually identical to its predecessor.
Felder Bundeskabinett II
Federal Chancellor – Herman Felder (NDZP)
Defence Minister and Deputy Federal Chancellor – Karl -Hermann Bodenschatz (TLD)
Foreign Minister – Bruno Steigerwald (NDZP)
Interior Minister – Bernard Glueck (KBP)
Finance Minister – Magda Pflugbeil (TLD)
Justice Minister – Laura Hartz (KBP)
Infrastructure & Energy – (NDZP)
Healthcare – Hans Meyer (NDZP)
Education – (NDZP)
Labor and Social Services – (NDZP)
Environment, Tourism & Territorial Protection – Jurgen Hausser(TLD)
Agriculture and Food – Bernard Erhard (KBP)
Science, Research & Technology – Karlotte Stumpff (TLD)
Commerce & Industry – Otto van Keppelijnk (KBP)
That is six ministries for NDZP, and four each for KBP and TLD. Asked by ODERVELD – LEUCHTFEUER if this election heralded an end to DSDP domination., Chancellor Felder replied:
Quote:Hardly. The results are close and we expect fluctuations in the future many of which will favor DSDP leadership. What this election may well do is finish the PiratenPartei Dundoorf (PPD) whose presence often led to neither Center Left nor Center Right having a majority.
We are gratified by the support we have received and pledge to honorably discharge our responsibilities.

FELDER ANNOUNCES CHARGING STATION PLAN
ODERVELD – LEUCHTFEUER
Chancellor’s Office, September 27, 5735: ODERVELD – LEUCHTFEUER has learned that Chancellor Hermann Felder met with executives of Nationales Konsortium fur Kernenergie (NKK) to discuss several matters pending for some time.
First, NKK did not wish to simply make itself privately owned. Since the government wanted citizens to be able to invest in it as a solid reliable asset, NKK suggested corporate bonds be issued rather than preferred stock which might give the illusion of ownership and control. This was agreed upon..
Second, with two nuclear power generation facilities in each Bundeslander, it was agreed that was sufficient for some time to come and augmenting power generation should be by hydroelectric, wind and solar electricity production.
Third, with respect to charging stations, NKK recommends we begin with Dunlake Bundeslander, provided we can get a commitment from our largest electrical vehicle producer to make them readily available there. NKK will provide funding for the construction and operate the facilities and use solar panels to augment the power available at the stations.

President Friedrich Von Schirach Re-Elected to Second Term, defeats Kaspar Brozovìc
September 5735
Karlottenberg Schloss, the Presidential residence, and Dunburg in the background.
DUNBURG - Dundorf has re-elected Friedrich von Schirach, a seasoned Liberal-Democrat politician, as the top tenant of Karlottenberg Schloss, the Federal President's official residence. This victory comes just one year after the 5734 Federal Election, which confirmed the popularity of the governing blue bloc led by NDZP. The government, united, supported the candidacy of Von Schirach as a signal of unity and also to test the overall popularity of the three parties combined. Opposed to Von Schirach there was only one candidate, owing to the absence of independents and the perennial crisis of the Pirates. The opponent was another veteran of Dundorf's politics: Kaspar Brozovìc, who recently contested the leadership of his party (DSDP), and held several key positions in the past years. Like Von Schirach's, Mr. Brozovìc's candidacy was supported by an united front of left-of-centre parties: DSDP, GPP and DRF.
Mr. Brozovic, who would have made history as Dundorf's first Delic Head of State after several centuries, won in three federal states out of five, but still lost the national popular vote due to strong performances by the President in Oderveld (55,7%) and Julstoch (69,2%). In the end, Friedrich von Schirach heads back to Karlottenberg Schloss after months of campaigning with 51,3% of the voters behind him. His opponent, Mr. Brozovìc, called him shortly after the news outlets called the outcome of the Presidential election, congratulating Von Schirach 'on a lifetime of service and on winning an impressive second term', according to sources close to him.
"Exit polls suggests that only a minority of the voters went to the polls in order to express their approval or disapproval towards the current government", explains our elections expert Dr. Wahl, "the President was able to win based on his persona, perceived as competent, and because of his popularity among DSDP and GPP voters, who allowed him expaning the base of the parties supporting him".
5735 Dundorfian Presidential Election:
Turnout: 91.893.227 (82%, +0,7% compared to 5730)
- F. Von Schirach (TLD, endorsed by NDZP and KBP): 47.114.649 (51,3%) | re-elected Federal President
- K. Brozovìc (DSDP, endorsed by GPP and DRF): 44.724.578 (48,7%)
