TLD REACTION TO ELECTION RESULTS
ODERVELD - LEUCHTFEUER
Bundestag, November 19, 5652: ODERVELD – LEUCHTFEUER asked former Interior Minister Gunther Krancke, leader of Team Liberaldemokraten (TLD), what he thought the likelihood of a new governing coalition was in the wake of the recent elections, and Krancke responded:
Quote:In all honesty, the TLD thinking is that Chancellor Jorg Berger will ask another party to join the DSDP-GPP-DSU governing coalition. Do not think that would be the Dundorfische Rote Front (DRF) because there is every reason to believe their policy demands would be too great. Nationalizing all defense contractors for instance.
We realize President Juliane Offenbach is in somewhat of a quandary because it is not clear whether she should ask Chancellor Berger or the NDZP’s former Chancellor Erica Kleinfelder to form a government so this could take a while.
Absent DRF involvement, mathematically two things are clear. First, there can not be a center – left or center - right government this time. Second, either DSDP or NDZP or both must be in any majority government.
I will say this. TLD lost seats but not catastrophically so our main focus is on improving our relation to our constituency. With that said and understood, TLD is not ruling out joining a governing coalition if asked.

NDZP THINKING ON ELECTION
ODERVELD - LEUCHTFEUER
Bundestag, November 26, 5652: ODERVELD – LEUCHTFEUER asked former Chancellor Erica Kleinfelder who she thought would be in new ruling coalition, and she responded:
Quote: The current ruling coalition lost its majority so there will be some changes. My party, Neue Dundorfische Zentrumspartei (NDZP), lost a lot of seats. So did Dundorf Sozialdemokraten Partei (DSDP), Chancellor Berger’s party.
President Juliane Offenbach has the duty under our system to call on the leading party to form a ruling coalition if it can. We do not know if she will ask the DSDP to do so as the party with the most seats in the Bundestag or the NDZP as the party with the most popular votes. NDZP will not challenge her on this question whichever way it goes.
Should Chancellor Berger be called upon, it is our expectation he will not try to continue the current governing coalition by adding Dundorfische Rote Front (DRF). Why? DRF is insisting it wants repudiation of treaties with all monarchies and elimination of religious schools. The former seems likely to be too much for DSDP just as the latter is anathema to NDZP.
If President Offenbach turns to NDZP, we will be prepared to negotiate from the center which under the circumstances is where any new governing coalition must originate this time around.

ODERVELD - LEUCHTFEUER
Bundestag, December 18, 5654: The Dundorf Sozialdemokraten Partei (DSDP), Neue Dundorfische Zentrumspartei (NDZP) and Team Liberaldemokraten (TLD) agreed on a“Tandem Chancellorship” as part of an agreement to form a new governing coalition.
Under the arrangement, Former NDZP Chancellor Erica Kleinfelder will serve as Chancellor for two years followed by Former DSDP Chancellor Jorg Berger serving for two years. In the meantime Berger will be Vice Chancellor as well as Foreign Minister.
Other DSDP Ministers include Finance Minister Christan Borg, Infrastructure Minister Lars Hoffmann, and Education Minister Dr. Albert Schuurs. The NDZP’s Wolfgand Prawius will be Defense Minister, TLD Leader Gunther Krancke will be Interior Minister and the TLD’s Friedrich v. Schirach will serve as Justice Minister.
President Juliane Offenbach called on Chancellor Kleinfelder to form a government when informed of the Tandem arrangement, and The Bundestag has just given final approval.
Asked by ODERVELD – LEUCHTFEUER if she expected the agreement to hold, Kleinfelder responded:
Quote:Absolutely. All parties entered into the arrangement in good faith and see it in their best interest.

CRUISE MISSILE SUPPLIER CHANGE
Defence Minister Prawius
ODERVELD – LEUCHTFEUER
Defence Ministry, February 17, 5656: Defence Minister Wolfgang Prawius, Ministry Staff, the Oberkommando der Bundeswehr (OKB) Chief of Staff, the Oberkommando der Luftwaffe (OKL) Chief of Staff and OKB Ableitung II (Procurement) personnel met with Gebirgsmunition GBM) management to discuss some changes GBM would like.
GBM originally made artillery ammunition. As warfare changed over time, GBM took up gun barrels for artillery and armor, armor ammunition, machine guns and anti tank weaponry. It then moved into bombs and rockets and then air to surface, air to air, surface to surface and surface to air missiles.
GBM has worked in joint ventures foreign and domestic on armament for fixed wing aircraft, rotary craft, artillery and armor including with Donnerluft, Fuchstal Elektrisch and Jeschonnek Hubschrauber.
GBM has a division that provides the rockets to launch the Pteradon satellites for the Soteria Aerial Defense System as a joint venture with Donnerluft and Fuchstal Elektrisch.
GBM also has a division looking into torpedoes, depth charges, ship to ship and ship to air missiles should the Oberkommando der Marine (OKM) ever begin contracting domestically for the naval task force given to the Bundesrepublik by Royaume Uni de Lourenne.
What GBM would like to do is convert one division to a largely GBM owned subsidiary handling the production of the surface to air missiles in the surface to air missile system (SAMS) operated as part of the Soteria Aerial Defense System employed as the primary air defense of the Bundesrepublik. This business entity would be called Dundorfische LuftVerteidigung (DLV).
GBM would also like to spin off the division that supplies cruise missiles to the Bundeswehr. The scientific, engineering and technical personnel involved are pretty much operating separately from the rest of GBM and it seems to GBM management it would flourish in a smaller organizational environment. It would be called Bergraketen,AG.
Defence officials had no objection to rearranging its contracts accordingly and is doing so.

CHANCELLOR ANNOUNCES KAFURI OIL PURCHASE
Chancelry
ODERVELD - LEUCHTFEUER
Chancelry, August 18, 5656: Chancellor Erica Kleinfelder made the following announcement today:
Quote:The Chancellor’s Office has been working with the Government of his Majesty, King Jamal, to work out a suitable arrangement for importing crude oil and refined petroleum derivatives from Kafuristan.
The sale will be to Importundernehmen der Bundesrepublik (IdB), our federally owned import corporation, for prompt resale to distributors. It will be by Kafuri National Oil Company (KNOC), known as Sharnaft, at market price.
As to quantity, there will be a minimum amount or floor, and a maximum amount or ceiling which allow some flexibility for IdB according to the actual needs of the Bundesrepublik as well as some stability of income from a reliable customer for KNOC.
The Bundesrepublik has been looking for a reliable petroleum supplier since its long time source in Dovani became less stable.

CHANCELLOR ANNOUNCES DORVISH OIL PURCHASE
Chancellor Kleinfelder
ODERVELD - LEUCHTFEUER
Chancelry, November 18, 5656: Chancellor Erica Kleinfelder made the following announcement today:
Quote:The Chancellor’s Office has been talking to the Government of the King and Kaiser about the Bundesrepublik importing Dorvish petroleum. An arrangement has been agreed to whereby Northern Oil will sell and Importundernehmen der Bundesrepublik (IdB) will buy at least a minimum amount of crude oil and refined petroleum derivatives and up to a set maximum amount per annum.
IdB is the Bundesrepublik’s federally owned import corporation for prompt resale to domestic distributors. The sales will be at market price.
The Bundesrepublik has been making progress toward a greener energy consumption future most notably by making nuclear generated electricity available in all Bundeslanders, but does not foresee foregoing petroleum products entirely.
Thus, the Bundesrepublik will benefit from having agreements with reliable oil suppliers. We expect the Kingdom of Dorvik to benefit from having a reliable customer as well.

The Kleinfelder-Berger Chancellery Handover
January 5657
The Federal Chancellery in Dunburg
Dunburg - With a short ceremony held in Karlottenburg Schloss under the watch of the Federal President, Ms. Erica Kleinfelder and Mr. Jorg Berger completed the "Chancellery Handout" which was decided at the beginning of this term, installing for the first time ever in Dundorf a so-called "tandem Chancellery". This arrangement was negotiated after the federal election and the subsequent constitutional dilemma: in Dundorf, usually, the leader of the largest party is designated Chancellor and tasked to form a coalition, but this time NDZP won the most votes and DSDP the most seats, and then-President Offenbach lacked the precedent to settle the matter. The two parties resolved the issue by adding the "tandem" clause to their coalition agreement.
Mr. Berger becomes Chancellor for the third time and will complete the remainder of this term, but he has already signaled that his long career as the DSDP Leader will come to an end after the next election; on the other hand, Ms. Kleinfelder becomes Vice-Chancellor and inherits Berger's former Ministry: the Foreign Office, but she didn't release any information in relation to her tenure as NDZP leader. In his inaugural address he said that the higher education cooperation project with Egelion will be finalized and tasked the new Foreign Minister to restart diplomatic relations with Baltusia.

NEW PRESIDENT REPLACES TERM LIMITED OFFENBACH
(Backdated Story)
ODERVELD - LEUCHTFEUER
Karlottenburg Schloss, June 18, 5654: With the second term of Bundesprasidentin Juliane Offenbach coming to an end, the Bundestag turned to electing her successor.
Dundorfische Rote Front’s (DRF) Karl-Heinrich Muller told a number of people he was running but in fact his name was never placed in nomination. Demokratische Sozialunion (DSU) members talked about placing Otto “Putzi” Haefstaengl’s name in nomination, but Haefstaengl and DSU Party Leader Ursula Hoepner insisted the thing to do was vote for whoever Dundorf Sozialdemokratische Partei (DSDP) backed. This view prevailed.
In the governing coalition it was considered Neue Dundorfische Zentrumspartei (NDZP)’s turn. Neither Chancellor Erica Kleinfelder nor Defense Minister Wolfgang Prawius wished to leave their current post, and so attention was turned to NDZP’s Party Secretary Karlotte Teitelbaum who is a former Justice Minister and was serving as Scientific Research and Development and Technology Minister.
The Bundestag did proceed to elect Teitelbaum as the successor to Bundesprasidentin Juliane Offenbach and she was thereupon sworn in at Karlottenburg Schloss.

NDZP Wins the 5658 Federal Election
October 5658
NDZP supporters celebrating in Unterschloss, Oderveld
Dunburg - The New Dundorfian Centre Party (NDZP) won the Federal Election held yesterday in the whole Dundorf, winning a small plurality with 22,9% of the votes and getting ahead of the Social Democrats (DSDP) who won 21.3% of the votes. Once again, like in 5654, the two major parties lost votes and now their combined vote share is 44,2%, a number so bad that represents an historical low and is clearly an insufficent amount of votes to form a Grand Coalition, which in the past decades was the to-go coalition when no other majority could be formed. The third largest party was the TLD (Team Liberal-Democrats) which overtook the Greens and was the only party of the current government to gain votes and now demands more prestigious positions in the Federal Cabinet should they be included again.
Among the opposition lists, the Social Union (DSU) was the party that lost the most votes while the two more radical parties (respectively left-wing and right-wing) were able to increase their vote share, but not everyone had the same success when it comes to Bundestag seats. For example, the hard-left-wing party DRF (Dundorfian Red Front) increased their vote share, but because they fell under the threshold in Oderveld, they actually lost one seat compared to four years ago. Right-wing and regionalist party KBP (Conservative Federal Party) instead won more votes and won more seats thanks to their crossing of the threshold in the state of Grozvic and an unexpectedly strong performance in Julstoch and Chontalen.
The Federal President has announced that the NDZP will be given the right to form a coalition in accordance to historical precedent (the largest party is designated as the Senior Partner of the next Coalition and its leader becomes Chancellor-Designate) and has asked Erica Kleinfelder to visit Karlottenburg Schloss in the following days. The most likely coalition according to the experts is the current one: NDZP-DSDP and TLD, even though a "Big Tent" Leftist coalition, from the DRF to DSDP, could still be formed as it has more than 316 members of Bundestag necessary to win election as Chancellor - but only if the NDZP fails to form a coalition.
Election Results (courtesy of the Bundeswahlkommission):
- NDZP: 25,753,742 / 22,9% / 151 seats (-0,6% and +2)
- DSDP: 24,010,027 / 21,3% / 140 seats (-1,8% and -10)
- TLD: 14,725,777 / 13,1% / 84 seats (+1,1% and +8)
- GPP: 13,566,317 / 12% / 77 seats (-0,3% and -1)
- KBP: 12,867,601 / 11,4% / 64 seats (+1,8% and +10)
- DSU: 10,857,232 / 9,6% / 62 seats (-1,3% and -8)
- DRF: 10,928,979 / 9,7% / 52 seats (+1,1% and -1)

Erica Kleinfelder Elected to Historic Fifth Term as Chancellor but Social-Democratic Base Demands Change
December 5658
Erica Kleinfelder (NDZP) addressing Bundestag following her election as Federal Chancellor
Dunburg - Following the victory in the October election, NDZP's historic leader Erica Kleinfelder, who served as Chancellor four times, most recently from 5654 to 5656 (as part of the past term's "Tandem" agreement with the DSDP), has been appointed Chancellor-designated for the fifth time by Federal President Teitelbaum and was elected today in Bundestag with 352 votes. Her coalition is the continuation of the previous Government, NDZP (Hosian-Dems) with the DSDP (Social-Dems) and TLD (Lib-Dems), which can count on 375 seats in the Bundestag, this means that 23 members of Bundestag belonging to the Majority did not in fact vote to elect Mrs. Kleinfelder as Chancellor, for her election it wasn't a problem: the majority needed in Bundestag is just 316 members.
The vote to elect a Chancellor is secret, so there is no way of knowing exactly who didn't vote her in, but speculation in and across the Bundestag say that the most leftist members of the DSDP voted blank as a form of protest to the party leadership, which according to some core members of the party is 'too centrist'. As a matter of fact into the DSDP's internal dissatisfaction, the Chontalen state chapter of the party refused to endorse the new Government, and in the Assembly, more and more members are finally calling for a new Leadership election to replace the decades-long leader and four times Chancellor, Jorg Berger. Anyways, Chancellor Kleinfelder will have to walk on eggshells if she would like to prevent a DSDP walkout from the coalition, which could become likely if the leadership election is held and a more progressive candidate is elected Secretary of the party.
On the other hand, the third coalition partner, TLD, was very glad that this Government was formed instead of the possible alternative: a big-tent leftist coalition incorporating the communist DRF with the three parties of the center-left: DSDP, GPP and DSU. Lib-Dem Bundestag Leader Matt Hofman said to our Zeitung: Quote:This NDZP-led Government and Mr. Berger's courage to stand up to its most radical members both mean that the communists will not enter this nation's Federal Government, and as TLD, we'll always make sure to prevent their ascent to power.
DRF's Deputy Bundestag Leader Anna Brankocevic replied: Quote:TLD's fearmongering against our party? I think it's growing pathetic and shows that they haven't much arguments to run on. Regarding the DSDP, I don't comment on their internal politics, but I must point out that DRF, for sticking to the left and not caving to the center, actually gained votes in the last elections.
