President Meliton has announced today that Hobrazia will change its national animal to the unicorn, this marks a pivotal point in the Hobrazian story. The Times caught up with Meliton earlier today who explained this unprecedented move,

This move is about the values we treasure of hope, faith and love. The Unicorn is the embodiment of the Hobrazian spirit, it will unify our nation and bring us together. When I came into office I promised change and it is change that I have delivered. While other nations step back we continue moving forwards with transformative policies that make a real difference in real peoples lives.

It does indeed signal a significant shift in Hobrazias national identity. the unicorn signifying grace and ethereal beauty. It is a significant policy that Hobrazians are very enthusiastic about, it has ignited a wave of passion, excitement and fervour. President Meliton is leaving a lasting legacy in Hobrazia as he begins the final mile of his term in office. His successor Vladimer Zakariadze will certainly have a job to live up to that legacy as he faces a monumental task standing on the shoulders of giants.

In the Shadow of Conflict: Hobrazia condemns Lodamun's reckless actions

The Hobrazian government have issued a statement today addressing an unfolding crisis in southern Artania, it comes after news that Lodamun would be sending an Expeditionary fleet to Malivia and the Migrants pass, in response Narikaton and Darnussia has issued a warning of military retaliation. Hobrazias foreign minister Eli Nikoladze held a press conference today to issue a statement,

We call on all sides to step back from the brink, let us choose peace and dialogue over conflict and war. This government strongly condemns Lodamun sending a fleet to Malivia and calls for them to explain their reckless, hostile actions and to withdraw their forces. I will remind all nations that war serves no one but to beget more suffering. We must choose to take the path of peace. President Meliton has been briefed on the situtation and we will continue to keep you updated. The president has ordered for thousands more troops to be deployed to reinforce our southern Border with Malivia, we will continue to monitor the situation but we will remind all parties that whilst we do not seek war, no threat whether direct or indirect to Hobrazias national security will go unanswered and we will not hesitate to defend our interests.

Asked if Hobrazia would join any "military retaliation" Eli was unequivocal in his statement.

No, we have made that very clear to our partners in the region that we will continue to push for dialogue.

It is hoped by the government that all nations in the face of escalating tensions will heed this call to de-escalate and choose peace. Eli is now facing what can only be described as a very turbulent start to his tenure in the foreign office.

Hobrazias culture minister Eliso Elza announced in her press conference earlier today that Hobrazia will be sending the song "1000 lights" which will be performed by Ria and Elene to FOMAT XXX. President Meliton Addresses the nation: Says Lodamun started this, we will end it

President Meliton has today issued an address to the nation amidst an ongoing crisis in the region, this follows on from an agreement with Beiteynu to base its fleet in Hobrazia. 

My fellow Hobrazians, it is at times like these when we must all make difficult choices, that is what my presidency has been all about making the difficult choices. Recently we came to an agreement with Beiteynu to locate its military fleet in Hobrazia I would like to thank Beiteynu for their continued cooperation, many nations have jumped on the bandwagon of condemning Beiteynu yet they fail to condemn and call for the withdrawal of Lodamun. It is Lodamun who started this and we are ending it. Let me be clear Lodamun must cease hostilities immediately and withdraw, they must immediately stop sending maritime patrol drones over the migrants pass they have no place at all and do not belong in Artania. I will now move on to some of the reckless statements released by certain nations which have been inaccurate and deeply unhelpful Xsampa is factually wrong to say Yishelm is "terrorizing Hobrazia" as just one example I ask Xsampa to correct the record immediately, that being said however we welcome any realistic attempts to mediate peace. This government has said time and again that we do not actively seek war and conflict with any nation but we will not hesitate to defend our interests in Hobrazia or indeed overseas, war is in no ones interests we all wish to see a free and peaceful Artania, our priority is keeping you safe and we stand resolute in that mission which is why we are stepping up our investments in our military capabilities. Let me conclude with this, Beiteynu is a stabilizing force in the region, Hobrazia will continue to remain in contact with our allies and partners. We must remember peace however distant is still possible we will continue to choose the path of peace. Hobrazia calls on all parties to de-escalate and step back from the brink.

 
President Meliton has made clear in his address that his government wants a lasting peace and agrees that Artania should be free of foreign interference, but that can only be achieved if both nations de-escalate tensions and step back from the brink.

Diffusing Tensions: Hobrazia pauses deployment of Beiteynu military fleet
This morning Hobrazia's foreign minister, Eli Nikoladze, has paused the deployment of a Beiteynu military fleet to Hobrazia. This comes after a call with Dorvik's foreign minister. Eli has again called on all parties to de-escalate tensions and to step back from the brink. It is understood by the Times that Hobrazia remains in constant dialogue with both Dorvik and Beiteynu. This morning the foreign minister issued a statement addressing the unfolding crisis.

Hobrazia opposes our nation becoming a staging ground for a proxy war, our priority is keeping you safe. We remain in constant open dialogue with our allies in Beiteynu and Dorvik our ties have never been so strong. I also stress the importance of Artanian sovereignty. This government is deeply concerned that Lodamun is continuing to operate its drones from Luthorian soil, this is aggravating an already tense situation and we call for it to end here.

A very strong statement indeed from Minister Nikoladze calling out Luthori for letting Lodamun operate with impunity. Defence minister Imedashvili has informed the Hobrazian Times that the Hobrazian Armed Forces are now at heightened readiness and will not hesitate in responding to any threats to Hobrazia's national security.

Diplomatic Synergy: Hobrazia hosts Kundrati on state visit.

Hobrazia's president Vladimer Zakariadze met with Kundrati's president Andrelopa Aruzabarrena in Astoria City this morning to discuss future trade opportunities and potential for further economic cooperation, it is understood that the talks where very fruitful. The visit was lauded as a huge success by the president. Speaking to the Times he told us,

I am delighted that Kundrati seeks to enhance its partnership with Hobrazia in all aspects from military to trade to culture. It is our hope that this visit will bring a much needed peace and prosperity to the Artanian continent. It is this government who continues to build a brighter future for all Hobrazians. Hobrazia and Kundrati will cooperate on nuclear power to build dozens of new nuclear power plants right here in Hobrazia to deliver low-cost clean energy. Kundrati is also willing to send a team to help extract our rare earth metals because we recognise that as we race towards a net-zero future we must scale up mining of rare earths, especially as demand is expected to surge in the coming decades, Kundrati will provide the knowledge and the capital required for Hobrazia tap into these resources.

The Times understands that Kundrati will also provide advisors and training to the Hobrazian armed forces in steps to enhance our combat readiness alongside rights for Kundratian Naval ships to refuel in our waters, Hobrazian Naval ships will likewise be able to refuel in Kundratian waters. This partnership will kickstart a new era of collaboration and friendship with Kundrati. This does indeed signal a turning point as Hobrazia and Kundrati begin to seek closer diplomatic relations.
