Forecasts for 5636 plummet Neset Index as Selucian "tariff war" hits trade economy in Sholemberg
January 5636
Sholemberg, North Bank - Shipping executives and investors in Sholemberg - the Neset's shipping hub - have began to feel the weight of Selucia's enactment of trade tariffs in the Migrant's Pass at the beginning of the decade, as the rather extensive volume of whispers across the Yeudi Diaspora has turned into widespread concerns, following a 2-year tumultuous bear market panic after Istalia first opposed the policy in 5634.
Despite the investor pressure, Selucia's prior affirmation of the 3rd Point Federation firmly assuaged any thoughts of opposition even with the highest of ranks of the Himmelshtern Nisrad - the city state under the 3rd Point Federation and Narikaton and Darnussia; with the Naval Chief of the Amudimim Fleets herself continuously and rather vocally casting her support towards Selucia and its controversial trade policy.
With Amudim's service and trade based economy extremely reliant on the Yeudi Diaspora's shipping heartbeat, Selucian tariffs on the Migrant's Pass are expected to take a toll on the entire network, with financial analysts projecting a "hard landing"; and stagflation following suit.
Today's closing bell at the Tel Bira Stock Exchange (TBSE) saw the Neset Index plummet by almost 8%.

317 officials found guilty of crimes against humanity in conclusion of "trial of the century" on nuclear attack against Xsampa
March 5636
Himmelshtern, Narikaton and Darnussia - With a world still trying to recover from the 5599 nuclear detonation in Metz-Leonid and endlessly debating the future of Terra after the now defunct Homeland State of Beiteynu re-opened Pandora's box, the Supreme Court in Bannerhafen just ruled in favour of the High Court of Himmelshtern's last month's decision to find a mind-blowing number of government and military officials guilty.
Both court decisions represent an expected - albeit still shocking - conclusion to the 16-year proceedings of the biggest trial that the Holy Land had ever seen in its history, all revolving around former Prime Minister Maria Kadiyot's decision to "push the red button" in October 10, 5599.
-
Maria Kadiyot herself was found posthumously guilty of genocide, crimes against humanity and several other war crimes, including the attack against the civilian population of Xsampa's capital during that fateful morning, which saw several hundreds of thousands of non-combatants perish in a second, an hour, a day and even weeks and months after the incident, falling under the fatal radioactive aftermath.
Although the former Meleh of the Yeudi Homeland was immune, several of his close associates were also charged regarding the infamous and alleged strike approval given by the Wrntukai; their cases now pending another round of appeals in Bannerhafen.
-
The rest of the 316, some deceased, some still alive, range from the former Beiteynuese Government, several officials from Amshinov's military and intelligence agencies, Pontesi's Octagon and even the 3rd Point Federation itself, with some Jelbic and former Vanukean and Narik and Darnussian liaison officials also caught in the crossfire by association and several conspiracy-related charges.
While of those alive, most will be incarcerated in Narikaton and Darnussia and Amudim, a few exceptional cases have been handed over to the ICJ in Lourenne, including that of former Command Chief of the Hosheh, who ultimately gave the final green light for the ICBM strike.
The two - then in their early 20s - officers who turned the keys in that command room will also be imprisoned.
-
YBI was not spared, either; the 5594 skewed findings that eventually led to the culmination of military panic and diplomatic tensions with Kalistan, Kundrati, Likatonia and Xsampa itself were deemed doctored, fake and "an affront to human rights".
The Supreme Court in Bannerhafen has ordered the Himmelshtern Nisrad to disband the Yeudish Bureau of Investigations.
It's reported that the Union of Nisrads will soon follow suit in their respective jurisdictions.

Jelbic elder arrested after screaming "it's 2025!" naked
April 5636
Haifbourg, Medebir Nisrad - Several complaints during a 2-hour ordeal in the streets of Haifbourg this morning eventually led to the police rushing to the scene and arresting an individual who was later identified as an elder from one of the city's numerous local Jelbic communities.
The individual in question disrupted morning commute by appearing naked in a rather busy street, holding a sign and screaming that the actual year was not in fact 5636, but 2025. Several parts of his rants have now gone viral on social media, showcasing him (with the bits blurred) asking people not to panic - in a screaming manner nonetheless - that they have been trapped unwittingly in this "fake 5636 simulation".
According to him, the year 0 was in 3611; we will investigate.

Dolidze‑Naaf Administration eases market downturns; YBI shuts down; anti-corruption sweeps Himmelshtern; and other news
September 5636
Himmelshtern, Narikaton and Darnussia - Triad Republic's President Egon Demelmann's transfer of power back in March to his right-hand protege, then Vice President Henk Dolidze-Naaf, while initially met with skepticism across the pond due to Dolidze‑Naaf's seeming distance from Demelmann's "institution-focused' policies, steadily turned into market confidence over the course of the summer.
Mr. Unteroberberg's - the designated liaison between Himmelshtern and Bannerhafen - recent statements in the media about sweeping anti-corruption policies aligned perfectly with the general sentiment from the Union of Nisrads as a whole, considering the Supreme Court of Bannerhafen's order to shut down the Yeudish Bureau of Investigations earlier this year, a supposed independent authority found to be drowning in favouritism after the debacle involving a joint Beiteynuese-Likatonian doctored report on human rights abuses in Kundrati.
In an interview with the Himmelshtern News, former President Egon Demelmann spoke extensively about the Infrastructure Bond Act and Himmelshtern Fintech Initiative - characterising the future of the now Narik and Darnussian city state as optimisticly promising.
-
Despite several officials from both the Nisrads of Yishelem and Sholemberg expressing their dislike at the Dolidze-Naaf Administration's choice of continuing Demelmann's characterisation of the Migrant's Pass as "Beidel's Pass" - and the exertion of influence over the region implied along with the preferential naming - the Union of Nisrads continues to remain aligned with Bannerhafen and Himmelshtern, especially considering that after the dissolution of the Homeland State of Beiteynu, the Holy Land has maintained but a shadow of a central government.
Additionally on that, Himmelshtern and the 3rd Point Federation continue to uphold Amudim's maritime defence shield, offering even more influence to the Triad Republic over the rest of the Holy Land's now independent city states.
-
There is currently significant pressure from the highest of ranks of the Nisrad of Tel Bira for the Central Bank of Amudim to cut interest rates, as the impact of Selucia's tariff policies in the Migrant's Pass continues to negatively mark Yeudish shipping across the entire Neset.
The cut, while seen as an effort to combat looming stagflation concerns, may ultimately prove to be unnecessary, as economists are currently re-assessing their projections in light of a Dolidze-Naaf Administration that has provided "calmness from the get-go".

Yeudi shipping worldwide projected to lose an additional 2.11T CFR in volume by the end of the century
October 5636
Tel Bira, Adishut Nisrad - The Keshef School of Economics in Tel Bira released a study last month about the state of global and Yeudi shipping both in terms of volume and trajectory across these last few centuries, with a few projections for 5700. With Selucian tariffs and decades of downturns since the dissolution of the Homeland State of Beiteynu in 5608, scholars identified a general downwards trend for the current century.
After global shipping peaked in 5500 at an estimated 14.33T CFR largely due to the momentum gained during the previous century with Yeudi shipping peaking at 7.08T CFR itself in 5400 (more than half of the estimated 12.56T CFR of global volume), a general downwards trajectory was observed, starting with the decline of maritime trade in Seleya following the devastating aftermath of the war in the Sea of Lost Souls.
Southeast Majatra and Majatra as a whole followed, as the events in Istalia, Kafuristan and Pontesi would begin to unfold and disrupt multiple trade routes in the continent that had led prior momentum. Later incidents in the Red Bass Ocean and the Artanian Sea sealed the deal of a downwards trend, with global shipping volumes estimated to reach as low as 12.47T by 5700.
The study concludes with the following pillars:
- Global trade and shipping was mostly stagnant at historically low levels until up to 5300
- It reached an unprecedented extreme peak in 5400 and 5500 dominated by B&L commerce, a trend bound to implode
- It is now on a steady trajectory of stabilising on a slight decline with the pie more aptly split

Hutorian debt collectors come knocking
November 5636
Yishelem - At its peak, the Homeland State of Beiteynu was in the habit of spending a ridiculous amount of money that it actually didn't have, relying on credit lines and investor confidence from centuries of growth, political stability and an unprecedented global trade network. That is, until the war with Lourenne violently ended growth and then the war with Xsampa finished off what remained of an empire essentially built on debt.
Although several administrations - especially in the 5300s - attempted to increase taxes on both income and assets, Yeudi wealth was abroad, and remained abroad, regardless of the Beiteynuese Government's attempts; owing to an ancient and largely independent Yeudi Diaspora.
The situation became so worrisome after the loss of trillions in trade volumes during the Hubris War, that Yishelem decided to sell its debt, finding buyers in Narikaton and Darnussia, Luthori, Hutori, Aldegar and the then expanding Canrillaise Empire.
In lament's terms, think of it like this:
- You loan me money because you trust that I'll keep paying you back
- After a while I start panicking from all the loans I've accumulated
- Someone else pays you back my loan and strikes a loan with me instead, but on different terms
And that's what countries like Hutori did. It was a good investment for a while, until that is, the Beiteynuese Government in Yishelem decided to violate every international law there is in existence during the war with Xsampa.
I can still keep paying the guy who bought off my loan from you, but things are no longer growing and optimistic. So what can Hutori do now?

Markets take a breath amidst rumours of rate cuts by the Central Bank of Amudim; Himmelshtern joins the pressure
December 5636
Tel Bira, Adishut Nisrad - After being repeatedly asked by several journalists, the Head of the Central Bank of Amudim was forced to acknowledge that the institution was in fact reviewing potential scenarios on interest rate cuts in a press conference on Friday. With the financial industry heavily tied to Canrillaise banking, the Eroncourt-East Stock Exchange (EESE) reacted positively on Friday's information throughout its entire session, creating a wave of relief across markets in the West, with the Fort William Stock Exchange (FWSE) and Tel Bira especially echoing the overall sentiment.
What do interest rate cuts mean?
It means that money and money lending will become cheaper - what the Central Bank of Amudim is concerned about, however, is the possibility that rate cuts will represent "too little too late" and both demand and liquidity will remain low as the bear market digs its teeth deeper.
-
But let's take a step back and understand the bigger picture, here.
While there are quite a lot of key performance indicators (KPIs) out there on even more economic drivers affecting markets, a few of the most important ones are:
- How much money is flowing (liquidity)
- How much money costs to borrow (interest rates)
- How strict or loose it is to borrow (credit & banking policies)
When markets are growing, 1 + 2 usually increase and 3 loosens. Things are going well. However, the caveat is that nothing grows forever, so at some point interest rates start to become unsustainable, which leads to less money flowing around.
When less money flows around - which means people spend less, which means demand drops - all that growth from investments and expansions and packing debt on the premise that things will continue to go well accumulates and markets dry up and prices go up.
-
The Central Bank of Amudim's conundrum right now is that markets already dried up quite extremely when compared to the previous "golden ages" of the Homeland State of Beiteynu and the Neset itself. But the debt is still there.
So even if the CBA makes borrowing money cheaper to increase demand, there's not enough money flowing to make the rate cut efficient.
It can inject liquidity - but the problem is, the CBA neither has that kind of money anymore, nor can it borrow more.
-
The solution? Dismantle and sell all that excess growth and supply that is no longer neither in demand nor being used. Which will lead to unemployment and, you guessed it, stagflation: rates will continue to go up, but with no growth.
What walks like a bailout and talks like a bailout - is probably a bailout.

The fate of the throne
December 5636
Yishelem - What a story. How did we go from Elias Ishmael IV's epic ascension in 5406 to this? Yet another aspect of the Holy Land's steady and relentless decay over the years, the decades and the centuries. A shell, a shadow of its former glory. A disgrace.
The name of the Kadiyots now tied to one of the most horrible incidents in human history. The House of Elior, tarnished.
And a throne, abdicated, empty, silent, ever since the late Wrntukai's disappearance. His fleeing of the scene of the crime just before it all imploded on that fateful morning of October 10, 5599.
Yishelem now stands cold, discarded, irrelevant; deserving of its crimes.
-
With the Banmek-Sntazeds and the Thaller bloodline wiping their hands clean, the mantle looks to fall to the Orange-Villayn-Armsteads of Luthori. Or, to the Orleans-Vassers of Lourenne and the World of Canrille.
But, with the Orleans-Vassers and the Kadiyots already once having supported the OVAs against the Jelbics, the favours of the Goldblooms, the Aristocrats, the Debuas and the Keshefs might follow suit this time around, indeed.
And with the Benowitzes dismayed at Bannerhafen's seizure of Himmelshtern, the deal may be sealed for the Holy Luthori Empire, once again.
-
So who can save the legacy of Elior and the Yeudi People now? Who is left to restore the dignity of both the Throne of Yishelem and the Yishelem Nisrad itself, now that its former masters can't hide behind the veil of a central government?
As Himmelshtern, Sholemberg, Tel Bira and Amshinov all begin to pick up their pieces, the question for Yishelem remains unanswered.
Will there be a legitimate claim? Or will the heart of the Holy Land fade into oblivion?
