Civil Republican Guard put on alert amidst Kalistani chaos; Kalistani VIPs put under CRG protection.

Tragedy has hit our northern neighbour Kalistan as far-right radicals have taken to the unthinkable; an assassination of the emperor. This has fundamentally put the nation into chaos as the far right have masqueraded as democratic, and as such, what happens up there affects us down here. Kalistani VIPs, most notably the Empress who happens to be in Ciudad de Gadur, alongside her daughter. Given the importance these two individuals hold, President MCS has chosen to deploy a segment of the Civil Republican Guard to act as their security in these turbulent times.

Keeping these two safe will not only help establish a reputation of safety in Gaduridos, but it will also benefit Kalistani-Gaduri relations immensely. As such, while the threat may be minimal in Gaduridos, it is better to be safe than sorry. Any form of assassination on Gaduri soil would ruin the nations reputation and would drastically cause worry, confusion and horrour in the nation itself. As such, the CRG is expected to do its best in assisting and protecting Kalistani VIPs, alongside any other foreign VIPs in the country.

When asked for a comment, President MCS has offered her condolences to Kalistan and has pledged that Gaduridos will provide security to all Kalistani in our land. The CRG itself is fairly confident in its abilities to protect the VIPs, and while proper details are sparse for security reasons, it is likely that they will remain safe in Ciudad de Gadur.

Gaduridos restores Neutrality as the nation begins repairing it's international image; Will neutrality truly keep Gaduridos safe again?

In a post Lourenne world, Gaduridos stands at a difficult position. With the Golden Eagle Treaty essentially being gone, Gaduri Neutrality has long been sought after, having been respected in the past by the world. Yet when it was torn apart in the 20s, many expected it to never come back as the Malaise continued on. Now however, it seems Gaduri Neutrality is back in full force. Today, in a press conference, President MCS has announced the restoration of Gaduri Neutrality. As such, Gaduridos will not partake in any military alliances, nor align with any major power(s). Gaduridos will formally be non-aligned.

With Neutrality having been in effect in the past, from 5430 towards 5520, it is safe to say it worked. Many nations respected Gaduri Neutrality, and it protected Gaduridos. Yet the restoration of Neutrality isn't in the wake of rising tensions across the world, but it is also to signify that the old Gaduridos is back. The respectable cooperative partner in international affairs. Alongside this, Gaduridos has signaled intent to resume trading operations with nations such as Mordusia, Kalistan, and other nations connected to the Vamaj network. Boosting the nations trade index and restoring foreign goods into Gaduridos will help the economy on recovering, and improve the international prestige of Gaduridos. While rumours of a trade deal with Mordusia are in the air, nothing has been confirmed directly yet.

Irregardless of that, the restoration of Gaduri Neutrality has left one major question in the air; what about the armed forces? As it stands, the public is split heavily between disarmament and maintaining a military. There are those who believe that Gaduridos should return to Pre-5515 disarmament, and there are others who believe that Gaduridos should have a self defense force. While a referendum has been alluded towards, no specific date has been given yet. Ultimately however, this type of debate is often healthy and can help restore trust in the government and it's competence, irregardless of the results.

Ciudad De Gadur calls for cool-headedness and rationality amidst rising global tensions; Foreign Minister addresses concerns regarding Southeastern Majatra, Baltusia, and Lodamun.

It would seem over night, global tensions have skyrocketed drastically. Between the socialist world and Beitenyu, and Lodamun and the Dual Republic, tensions have exploded in recent months. While Gaduridos may have lost the past relevance it had, this does not excuse ignoring foreign affairs. As such, Foreign Minister Gaia Magnone has held a press conference, looking to reassure Gaduri, assert that a neutral Gaduridos will be an active participant in global affairs, and ultimately restore what the nation was well known for; being a location of stability and peace. While Altatepec may be long gone, having been shredded by almost every power, it is an inspiration to Gaduri abilities to create a lasting peace, and while war so far seems out of the equation, doing anything to cool tensions will go a long way.

As such, the first major issue is between Istalia and Beitenyu. With both sides cutting ties, there have been some concerns about regional stability. However, the situation seems to be escalating as foreign non Majatran states begin joining the situation. Such nations largely come from the socialist world. Due to the increasingly volatile situation in Majatra, FM Magnone has called for both sides to cool down, and discuss to prevent anything that will certainly be regretted. However, regarding the formation of a socialist Internationale, FM Magnone has gone out to say the following;
Quote:I believe any nation has the right to do anything. In reason. However, what I don't believe in, is states working together with the sole purpose of spreading chaos and insurgencies across the world. Will the socialist world do that? We can't say for certain, but they must be careful with the fire they are playing with. These nations should be careful about what they do next for the sake of global stability. The last thing anyone wants is power blocs forming and threatening global stability.

As such, there is some concern regarding the recent statements by Baltusia, as the risk for a domino effect (both a domino effect for stability and communism) is a possibility that many Gaduri are afraid of. As such, while Gaduridos is not formally condemning anyone, it's safe to say that this is a rather unorthodox unofficial condemnation.

The final major incident in global affairs seems to be between Artania and Lodamun. Both the Dual Republic and Hobrazia have condemned Lodamun for naval activity near Malivia. While this is not really a major incident compared to others, FM Magnone was still asked about it, and reassured the following.
Quote:Again, any nation has the right to do what it wants. However they must be careful about global stability due to its fragileness. Instead of both sides condemning immediately, we offer a solution of discussion. Why not sit down and discuss it before resorting to such strong measures? While at this exact moment, we cannot give a formal answer to who Gaduridos sees ground with the best, we can give an answer on what these nations should do. All nations should strive for peace. We can only hope all 3 chose to negotiate and talk it over at the end of the day.

With global tensions ramping up, many are growing concerned and worried for global stability and the recently reopened economy. However, the MCS Presidency has reassured the populace that everything is under control, and that these global issues can be resolved. Whether any foreign nation will even take the time to address Gaduridos or keep the nation irrelevant is yet to be seen, but what's certain is that Gaduridos is certainly trying to set itself up as a neutral, and active participant in global affairs.

Oil Pipeline begins construction as Gaduridos cooperated with Tukarali and Valruzian governments; A Pan-Seleyan Project.

It would seem Pan-Seleyanism has taken the grips of foreign policy as a major infrastructure project has been announced; the creation of an oil pipeline through Gaduridos that passes through Tukarali and ends in Valruzia. The project is anticipated to benefit all 3 nations, and foster closer ties between the trio. While Gaduridos and Tukarali have had cordial relations for quite some time, cooperating in the Trans-Seleyan Railway, Valruzia is an unexpected nation, but Valruzia has been keen on securing economic cooperation. As such, Gaduri oil will now supply and help Valruzia and Tukarali, ensuring domestic Seleyan production and benefiting all three economies.

Not only will it provide economic support for the 3 nations, but it will help bring them together closer economically, and help foster Pan-Seleyan ties, if at least for economic reasons. Construction on the pipeline has begun and is anticipated to be completed by 5562. While the respective benefits for Tukarali and Valruzia will be left to their own news network, the benefits Gaduridos can get is obviously economic development, and economic ties. Fostering closer economic ties with the 3 nations will allow easier means of commerce for citizens of all 3, and encourage further cooperation. Yet more importantly, Gaduri oil will be put to usage, and Gaduridos will reap benefits from it. This will help tie the Gaduri economy to the other 2, and reput Gaduridos back into the global economy.

The effort is akin to the Trans-Seleyan Railway, and an epitome of what Pan-Seleyan diplomacy is about; benefits for Seleyans. Perhaps this can plant the seed of Pan-Seleyanism in other countries or at the very least, encourage more cooperation between Seleya. Irregardless, this effort will surely help not only the Gaduri economy get back on track, but help the economies of Valruzia and Tukarali.

Reviewing Gaduri Trade; What's continuing, being established and what's being done for the economy?

Trade is, and has been arguably the backbone of the Gaduri economy. It was what got Gaduridos into the top 10 economies at the start of the century, however now that a stable competent government is back in Los Altos (for foreign readers, Los Altos serves as the Presidential Palace in Ciudad de Gadur), there is an opportunity to revive Gaduri trade and restore it to the global stage. While currently, some trade deals exist and the Gaduri economy has been kept afloat thanks to the efforts of Yeudi entrepreneurship, preventing a major decline for the economy. However, this is where the government will need to step in and do what it can to facilitate trade and lift the burden off of Yeudi assistance. As such, several new trade deals have been announced. But first, we have to understand the current trade deals as they stand.

Currently, the biggest trade deal is less of a deal. Vamaj. Gaduri oil is able to be exported across the globe thanks to Vamaj and ensure that they are not just limited to Eastern Seleya. This was what gave the Gaduri economy a major boost in the past and while the effects may have dwindled since then, Vamaj is just as important to the Gaduri economy as it is today. However, by expanding trade volume and reviving the economy, Vamaj will be able to heavily help the Gaduri economy, and in particular see Gaduri oil carry the economy towards new heights.

As such, it's time to go into existing trade deals with actual nations. Whether it be iron with Dolgava and Temania, or oil trading with Lourenne, these existing trade deals are absolutely beneficial to Gaduridos and just as important as any new trade deals will be. Maintaining these deals, and even expanding upon them will certainly be something for the MCS Presidency, and future presidency's to take note of.

However, stagnation is always something to be avoided and a diverse set of trade partners is something any nation could want. As such, several new trade deals with various nations have been announced. Mordusia, Kundrati and Pontesi. While Mordusia and Gaduridos have not had much relations besides the basics and some cooperation with the SEC in the past, a recent trade deal has been signed, where Gaduri oil will be purchased by Mordusia. This will help the Mordusian economy and help the Gaduri economy equally. Alongside Mordusia, Kundrati will be buying Gaduri oil, which is able to reach Kundrati thanks to Vamaj. While the Kundratijian economy is certainly strong, the need for cheap oil from a neutral source is always vital in this ever shifting world of geopolitics. As for the final state, Pontesi will be buying Gaduri iron. Pontesi will be able to use Gaduri iron for whatever they need to use it for, and Gaduridos will receive payment in exchange, allowing for investments at home.

However, besides these new trade deals, economic opportunities for trade and shipping always lie at home. Should Gaduridos be able position itself as a major trade bastion for the Anantonese Ocean, and subsequently the eastern region, then the nations economy can very much skyrocket. Alternatively, the nation can return to the past and rely on natural resources to skyrocket the nations economy once again. Irregardless of whatever choice for the economy is taken, these current developments are anticipated to continue helping facilitate an economic recovery and get Gaduridos back into the world stage economically.

Major Port Renovations begin across the country; Increased oil exports warrant upgrade.

It would seem new trade deals has warranted an increase in oil exports, benefiting the Gaduri economy. However, the increase of exports has left many Gaduri ports struggling to keep up, and as such, it would seem an upgrade of ports is warranted. As such, several ports around the country will now begin being modernized and upgraded to handle the new demand. While fiscal conservatives are having a heart attack at the prospect of more money being blown, the government has been assuring that this measure is necessary to increase the potential of the Gaduri economy. Upgrading the ports will not only expand capacity, but it will prevent ports from being overwhelmed, allowing new exports and imports. While the efforts will certainly take a few years, it is surely bound to benefit the economy immensely for coastal regions and cities. Whether it be cities such as Ciudad de Gadur, Bentasur, or Rosaleda, there is bound to be a strong economic benefit from it.

However, while fiscal conservatives have essentially (metaphorically) armed themselves against the government due to its spending habits, others have found themselves supporting the efforts as it'll provide better jobs, and increase the capacity of trade, something socialists and liberals can find agreement on respectively. Irregardless the establishment of new quality jobs will help employ Gaduri, and ensure that the economy can continue going forward strongly. Alongside that, an increase in expanding trade capacity will benefit the Gaduri economy too, allowing for increased oil and iron exports.

These efforts at modernizing the ports will certainly hit the Treasury hard, but it's expected to be worth the cost. These efforts will bring new jobs, more money and allow for better exports and trade in the future. As the economy starts kicking off, this, alongside the restoration of PeGad may have a snowball effect for the Gaduri economy if done right. Ultimately the Malaise is being fought by economic growth, but the main issue concerning Gaduri democracy, and it's sustainability has been raised repeatedly and how that can be resolved. But should that be resolved, the nation may very well be on its way to healing from the Gaduri Malaise.

Negotiations with the Dual Republic successful regarding oil exports; The Dual Republic to get exclusive distribution rights.

It would seem the recent efforts by the government to revive the Gaduri economy has caught the attention of the Dual Republic. As the nations major ports are being modernized, the Dual Republic has stepped in to help assist in the modernizations of these ports, and in exchange, the Dual Republic will gain exclusive rights to the distribution of Gaduri oil, allowing both Gaduridos and the DR to get money in the long term. The major effects for Gaduridos will see costs being saved on port modernizing, alongside profits from oil distribution via the Dual Republic, and a perception change from foreign investors in the stability and competence of the Gaduri economy.

Overall, allowing the Dual Republic to have the rights to exclusively distribute oil (up to 20%) will benefit the Gaduri economy in the long term and reign in money for both the Dual Republic and Gaduridos. More money in the pocket of Los Altos means more improvements and investments at home. Which in turn can loop back into more economic growth for the nation. While there have been more vocal concerns from more patriotic elements of society that are concerned with these developments, the government has assured that ultimately, no other nation will own Gaduri oil, and as long as Gaduridos continues producing oil, it can and will maintain its economic sovereignty.

Irregardless the establishment of this deal with the Dual Republic is bound to help the Gaduri economy as recent efforts have seen a slow but steady recover. As the decade comes to a close, considerable progress has been made within 2 years, and as the economy is expected to slowly but steadily rise, perhaps the MCS Presidency can focus internally. Whatever the case, a rising Gaduri economy is a win win for all parties involved, internal or foreign.

Gaduridos responds to Kalistani offer for the "North Seleyan Confederation".

It's seemed like the world has been on its head lately, and one surprise has come about from Kalistan; the offer of a united North Seleya. While this sounds like a dream to radical Pan-Seleyanists, or even a hypothetical for most governments, Gaduridos finds itself in a unique spot, being home to the Pan-Seleyan Social Democratic Party of Gaduridos after all, and both the nation, the PSSG and the government has found itself split on how to respond to Kalistan.

As it stands, most of the public is supportive of Pan-Seleyanism, as it has been integral to the Gaduri economy, and save for the nationalist presidency's, almost every president in recent history has been a Pan-Seleyan of some form (whether it be the liberals with soft economic Pan-Seleyanism or the PSSG with their variant). As such, the concept of a unified confederal North Seleya has been widely praised and supported by many Gaduri. However, most Gaduri have shown recent concern over how the Kalistani message was expressed to the world, with some viewing it in a more threatening light. While the nation is firmly neutral and Kalistan would never do something so lowly as to endanger neutrality, another issue has arose. If this is to be a confederation of nations, then it's clear who's at the top with a head of state. The only north Seleyan monarchy. While Gaduridos has had a relatively long history of republicanism, there have been a handful of monarchist pages in the history books, less than 100 years ago. However, today most Gaduri find themselves abhorred by the idea of having Gaduridos become a monarchy, let alone beholden to a foreign monarch.

While many Gaduri support strong economic cooperation with other Seleyan countries, the idea of a non elected head of state is simply a bridge too far for many Gaduri. However, the economic benefits from such a confederation has been seen in a more positive light by many Gaduri. However it begs the question of, if the Gaduri populace doesn't want to join the confederation, why not seek independent deals with Kalistan or other member states to gain these economic benefits? Irregardless, the general perception is largely supportive of the idea, but Gaduridos should have the right to its own elected head of state, free of monarchism.

For the government however, it simply cannot ignore a diplomatic request from another nation (again), and Los Altos has been presumably at work for the past week drafting a response to the invitation to Kaliburg. It would seem however, that Los Altos has responded. Or rather, the President has.

Quote:The Kalistani offer for a United Seleya is one that is absolutely tremendous, and idealistic. It is a hope of a better future for Seleya. A united Seleya is a dream that many in Gaduridos share. However, many Gaduri have raised concerns about this Confederation, and it's more hidden implications. Due to these concerns, primarily regarding Kalistani monarchism, Gaduridos will, with absolute respect, not attend the Kaliburg Conference. We send our best wishes, and while we do encourage Pan-Seleyan cooperation, we believe Gaduridos holds no place in a Confederation with monarchism. We hope for cordial relations to be maintained with Kalistan, and we hope for understanding.

While President MCS has not addressed the rather subtle threat by Kalistan in its offer, the denial of attending the Kaliburg Conference is sure to be one that will receive a response back. While more radical Pan-Seleyanists decry President MCS as a nationalist, others are more supportive and it is hoped that Gaduridos can achieve more closer economic ties with this Confederation should it form. However, a recent opinion poll has found many Gaduri sharing a rather worried opinion for the implications of this Confederation, worrying over economic, political or even diplomatic domination. While it's debatable as to whether it's true or not, what is true is that many Gaduri are split on this issue as some want to distance from the Confederation, viewing it as a potential threat (despite the nations Neutrality and Kalistani respecting of neutrality), and others wanting to maintain cordial ties with the Confederation but not be apart of it.

Gaduridos commits itself to armed neutrality; A military will be maintained and restricted to self-defense.

The awaited referendum on the status of the Gaduri military has finally come about. While it was expected to be a dividing issue in Gaduri society, it seems that the referendum has shown that the issue has largely been non dividing. The results have largely been in favour of maintaining a self defense military. As such, the Civil Republican Guard will be elevated into the Fuerzas de Defensa de Gaduridos (Defense Force of Gaduridos). Limited to strictly self defense, Gaduridos will find itself committed to armed neutrality, allowing itself to maintain a professional military solely dedicated to protecting Gaduridos.

As such, the FDG will be kept small, focusing on quality over quantity, and a defense in depth doctrine. However, the military is rather outdated and will certainly need to be updated should Gaduridos be adequately defended. However, there are many nations willing to accept money for arms so upgrading the military should relatively be easy. While it's yet another project to spend money on, no one can argue against national defense. Whether it be maintaining security, or anything else along those lines, the FDG will be able to keep Gaduridos safe from rogue actors on the international stage and ensure Gaduri Neutrality is firmly protected.

However, some have to speculate on the timing of this referendum, as it comes in a particularly unique period of chaos across the world, as tensions heat up. Perhaps this was just a measure to defend Gaduridos, or it was a measure to deter nations? Only the MCS Presidency can really say why, but it's unlikely we'll get a proper answer.
--------------------
In other news;
PSSG reportedly split on the Confederation Conference northwards; Perhaps the PSSG isn't fully behind MCS?

Is the Gaduri Malaise slowly eroding? Some say it is.

A full commitment to Neutrality; Gaduridos should not be apart of any Confederation or alliance that may endanger its neutrality.
