Former deputy leader of the Reform Party defects from the party after it enters negotiations with the Nationalist and Free Soil parties

In a shock announcement, the former deputy leader of the Reform Party of Gaduridos (PRG), Jasinto Acosta, stated that he is leaving the party he formerly led, effective immediately. In a video address published on his social media accounts, Acosta said that the decision has been "long growing" inside his mind, but the breaking point became the electoral alliance negotiations between his party, Radicals and the right-wing populist parties, Nationalist and Free Soil ones.

"For almost 15 years, I have been a loyal servant of this nation, as its deputy, representing the Reform Party, a party with which I found myself in agreement the most", said Acosta. He would later add that the Reform has abandoned its principles and "commitment to the common man". "An independent party for the common people of our great country turned into a simple puppet of the corporations and pretend nationalists, who use an ideology of patriotism to seed division and chaos. That's not my party, and that is why I am leaving PRG, effective immediately". A former PRG high-level official finished the address by saying that he's not leaving politics, and is actively "looking for opportunities".

MM sources note, however, that Acosta already made a decision and has been in the process of registering his own party, Movimiento Agrario Popular (Popular Agrarian Movement), under the MAP acronym, a party which will be a centre-left agrarian force, according to Acosta's close allies. Ex-deputy leader has been in talks with his former party colleagues, as well as politicians from other parties, notably PSSG and PDH, proposing to join his new project.

Meanwhile, the leadership of the Compromiso coalition, specifically now-former colleague of Acosta, and leader of the Reform Party, Jasinto Epigmenio Vásquez, said that it is "unfortunate" that Acosta is leaving the party. "It is fully up to him to agree or disagree with the way our party is going, but I do think it is unfortunate that he left, and it is even more unfortunate to see him cosying up to García. So, I would rather not talk about "betraying principles", Epigmenio Vásquez wrote on social media.

PSSG expands its majority for yet another quinquenio, as the centre-right opposition crumbles

As the first votes started coming in, the already expected result was also confirmed. A social democratic blowout. The party of the Prime Minister Ximona García, Seleyan Social Democratic Party of Gaduridos, as anticipated by pundits and vote projections, have won yet another five-year term in office, with 143 seats, gaining eight compared to the last election, and 15 more than required for a simple majority. Following the announcement of the first results, PM García thanked the voters for their trust, and added that "the fight for all Gaduri people does not stop".

Meanwhile, on the right, a complete collapse. Transitioning from a governing coalition of two parties to an electoral coalition of two parties, more than half the size of the PSSG in just five years, was certainly not what leaders of either the Reform or Radical parties intended, but voters chose differently. A sudden turn to the right, betrayal of liberal and pro-common man policies, which led to the major breakout. Both leaders of the coalition announced their resignations, taking personal responsibility for their respective parties' losses and worsening results. "The reality is that CxG has lost today. And it is a great tragedy for all of us in the coalition, and a great tragedy for our nation", said Radical Party leader Ángel Villagran. "But, voters made their choice, and I have called Madam García and congratulated her on the re-election".

According to the sources in the Radical Party, many members have been growing discontent with the coalition previously, and the election result has only increased opposition to continuing CxG; however, party leadership refuses to listen to the dissident voices, leading many prominent liberals to consider leaving and possibly joining MAP or PDH, both of whom had very good nights, with newcomer Popular Agrarian Movement entering National Congress with 9 seats, while Hosian Democrats won 24 constituencies, gaining 4 more, in comparison to the 5653 election. Both parties have been gaining votes from the disappointed RAD and PRG voters.

Now, with a parliamentary representation more than enough to comfortably lead a stable government for the next five years, social democrats under Ximona García will continue their popular reforms to support the common Gaduri citizens, expand their rights, and keep reforming the nation.

Social democrats to establish a political foundation to support leftists across Seleya and the world
PSSG states it aims to support left-wing and progressive parties and organisations to develop and maintain their presence in their respective countries to oppose neoliberal and right-wing populist tendencies

In a statement released by the PSSG earlier today, the ruling social democratic party announced the creation of a new political foundation, the Rosalana García Institute (IRG), which will aim at strengthening and supporting local, Seleyan continental, and potentially even international left-wing and progressive forces. According to the statement, the Institute's primary mission will be to "equip progressive, socialist, and social democratic parties and organisations with the tools, knowledge, and resources necessary to develop, grow, and sustain a long-term presence in their respective political landscapes."

According to PSSG, the decision to create the foundation comes at the "uncertain" times on the continent, and worldwide, where nations and their left-wing political movements are faced with growing challenge from the right, as often "neoliberal incompetence", the secretary-general of the social democrats, Camacho, says, becomes to root of most problems. "We want to give voice to those who are certain and serious about fighting for a fairer economy and politics, and putting an end to reactionary politics".

Using temporarily PSSG's party headquarters as the main office of the Institute, the foundation will operate both as a think tank and a support network, offering policy and ideological trainings, lectures, transnational connection opportunities, assistance in strategic communications, and obviously, support in the democratic and electoral processes. Additionally, IRG will be offering grants to smaller or newly-founded organisations or parties to increase outreach through political campaigning or advertising. "The primary goal of the Institute, in our vision, is to help build a strong network of left-of-centre forces which believe in progressive values, equal opportunities for all. We will offer our helping hand to our comrades in those countries where they might be lacking resources to lead a powerful and effective movement for social and economic justice, because we know how to do it", said PSSG's secretary-general Jatziri Lara Camacho in a commentary for Las Contradicciones.

PM announces government program to "bring back our people home", as well as support those who choose to stay abroad

Gaduridos generally doesn't have a major population decline problem; however, there is still a significant amount of Gaduri diaspora and emigrants living outside of the nation, mostly in neighbouring Seleyan countries, like Baltusia or Kalistan, primarily due to quite obvious reasons, like geographic proximity and shared historical and cultural ties. And today, the government, led by Prime Minister Ximona García, has outlined a clear course on trying to attract those Gaduri nationals, or ethnic Gaduris, but holding the citizenship of another nation, to return to Gaduridos, as well as support those who will choose to stay in other countries.

Speaking at the Federación de Sindicatos de Gaduridos (Federation of Trade Unions of Gaduridos) congress in Takraruun, PM García spoke in detail about her government's plan to "bring back our people home", to keep diversifying the national labour market, growing the economy through long-term policies, as well as keeping the Gaduris together, in their safe and stable, both economically and politically, homeland. "As a government of Gaduridos, we are vowing to fight for and protect not only our citizens in our big and beautiful home, called Gaduridos, but also for all those Gaduri compatriots who live outside", she said. "And also those very same people, who may not have been born here, but identify themselves and are proud of their Gaduri identity, and wish to become a part of our big family. We are a government for all of them, and we are working to keep proving it", she said.

According to the Secretary of Labour and Social Security, Yalina Pocasangre, the federal programme "will not prioritise" Gaduri diaspora over the nationals who live in Gaduridos. Still, it will "help as much as it can" to attract and reintegrate individuals. The proposals for support to return will include government assistance to apply for a stable and protected job of the individual's choice, as well as assistance in applying for federal social security and welfare programs. "There are currently discussions about tax benefits for businesses that wish to either relocate here from other countries or establish a business here. We are all for businesses working here, and we will gladly support their beginnings in Gaduridos, but at the same time, we wish to make sure that businesses don't abuse the program, or future workers, which is why we are working on this part currently", said Secretary Pocasangre. And, at last, it was announced that the program will entail free Egelian language courses for those who wish to either learn or improve their language skills. According to Secretary Pocasangre, the government's Secretariat of Digital Services and Communications is currently developing the online platform for everyone interested in applying and studying for free.

Chancellor apologises to Kaliburg, but says the situation is "disappointing"

Following the diplomatic chaos caused by the announcement of the state visit from the Istalian delegation to Gaduridos’s capital, Gadur, the nation’s chief of diplomacy, Victor Goyri Jaramillo, addressed the domestic and international public with an open statement, apologising to the Imperial Throne in Kalibug on behalf of Gaduridos’s previous agreements with Istalian officials to visit our nation and sign trade accords, allowing the former to enter the Anantonese markets.

"Obviously, creating a rift between our two nations wasn’t our intention with these agreements with our Istalian colleagues. And, I would not say we have a rift currently, but what’s done is done,” Jaramillo said. “But, it is also quite disappointing for us that while, yes, Articles of Empire do mention imperial oversight or complete control over foreign policy, which we do not object to, the quote from the Empress’s trade representative, Ms. Boone, talking about ‘no apparatus to talk with’ in Gaduridos. I will judge whether this remark was made in anger or disappointment, but it is false, and I hope our colleagues in Kaliburg understand it."

When asked what would happen next, Chancellor Jaramillo said that it is now up to the two sides, Kalistan and Istalia, to resolve their issues. He also added that Gaduridos will remain committed to the Empire, its operations, policies, and priorities. However, Jaramillo concluded by noting that there might be a Gaduri visit to Kaliburg to discuss the current and future state of the Empire, and Gaduridos’ role within it. “We are part of a big family, and have no intention to drive away, but if we want to have a stable and strong family, there might be some conversations.”

PM García says she might step down as party leader before the next election

Ximona García, leader of the Seleyan Social Democratic Party of Gaduridos and the current Prime Minister, has been at the helm of the nation's largest political force for nearly fourteen years. She was elected during the party convention on 21 November 5646 in a resounding leadership victory, beating her nearest rival by almost 34 points. Despite her popularity among the nation's politicians and her party holding a solid majority in both chambers, the 68-year-old Prime Minister has indicated she is contemplating stepping down as party leader before the upcoming election in 5663.

In an interview with La Rosa Nacional, the nation's head of government discussed her past, present, and future—both personally and politically. Since her election in 5653 during a significant left-wing surge, often called a "red wave" by political commentators, García has led one of the most left-leaning governments in Gaduridos's recent history, implementing what she describes as "left-wing populist" policies. "In most years of my career as a public figure and politician, I’ve heard colleagues and voters use 'populism' as a negative term, but I don't see it that way. I see populism as caring for people, which is what the word signifies—the focus on people," she told us. Coming from a prominent political dynasty in Gaduridos, many members of which also led the same PSSG, García has developed an internal faction rooted in "Garcían socialism" as its core ideology. Typically, Garcían leadership remains strong once an individual assumes control of the party, but this time, it appears something has shifted.

Though comfortable as both party leader and Prime Minister, García revealed to La Rosa Nacional that, when questioned about her future and the impending general election in under three years, there have been discussions about her stepping down, possibly even before the 5663 election, with a new leader expected to helm the PSSG campaign. When asked to clarify this sudden statement, García dismissed the notion, saying, "I am not here to pursue power, or be a dictator of sorts. I am a democratic and progressive leader, and I know when to show strength and when to lead, and when to step aside for the next generation." Reports suggest she has been confiding in her close allies about her declining health, though she did not confirm this when asked.

Following the interview, La Rosa Nacional approached García’s close associates and other senior figures in the party to verify whether she had been discussing her retirement; however, responses were scarce. Internal party sources indicate there was indeed a private discussion where the Prime Minister mentioned several potential successors—likely new leaders if elected—since the Garcíanist faction maintains a commanding majority within the PSSG. Names mentioned include the Governor of Marligantos, Ahtziri Zamora; Secretary of Labour and Social Security, Yalina Pocasangre; and Acalan Saldaña, the agriculture secretary, who is also a party deputy leader.

While none of this has been officially confirmed and remains in the realm of speculation based on internal conversations and rumours, some question the future direction of the governing left-wing party. Nevertheless, for the good of Gaduridos, none of this currently hampers the peaceful governance or the enactment of policies aimed at improving the lives of all Gaduris. Independent audit confirms financial mismanagement in the major petroleum giant
A comprehensive audit, requested by the parliamentary majority, has uncovered significant financial irregularities within Petróleos Gaduridanos

In a shocking release on Friday, the report of an audit of the parliamentary governing social democrat majority has exposed significant financial irregularities within the Petróleos Gaduridanos (Pegad), the nation's oil and gas giant, previously operating as a state-owned enterprise before being partially privatised by the Radical-Reform administration led by Rufino Esau Cervantes in 5632. The report findings raised many questions about whether the partial privatisation has weakened the institution's oversight mechanisms, allowing for the unchecked spending to flow within the petroleum company.

The 236-page-long audit describes in detail the irregularities with procurement, inflated equipment contracts, and unexplained consulting fees, with all problems listed above amounting to nearly 239 million fleurs between 5633 and 5659. Members of the audit committee have noted a pattern of tenders awarded without proper competitive bidding, as required by law, often under the "urgent procurement" loopholes, something which has been used far more often after the privatisation. "Former Prime Minister Esau Cervantes and his government assured everyone that the new partially private-owned Pegad will be much more transparent and effective", said the chair of the parliamentary audit committee, Nicté Guerrero (PSSG). "Instead, what we have on our hands currently is a company which works even worse than before the 5632 reforms, inheriting the worst of the neoliberal world: opaque financial practices of an unregulated private entity. Luckily, we exposed it, and will proceed now with federal legislation to stop it and bring back Pegad into proper public ownership."

In her weekly press conference, Prime Minister Ximona García has called the findings of the parliamentary audit a "serious breach of public trust", as well as a "danger to the stability of economic stability". PM would later add that after consultations with her government and the Secretariat of Finance in particular, there will be a quick response from the government, with criminal investigations into high-level officials of Pegad in the 5633-5659 period, as well as dismissal of the current executive director of the company, Azael Salinas. "We will not tolerate incompetence and mismanagement in one of the, if not the most important, Gaduri industries", said the chief of the Gaduri government, Ximona García.

Sources within the federal government said that once the report was released, PM was furious, immediately calling Pegad's CEO, Salinas, demanding detailed explanations from him. However, reportedly, Salinas did not answer the call, prompting García to arrange a decree dismissing Salinas, something which has not been announced publicly yet. According to one of the interlocutors in the federal government, PM has been strongly urging her finance secretary to work with the PSSG's parliamentary caucus and to introduce a renationalisation law.

Governor of Marligantos held a meeting with local government officials to discuss the regional development strategy

In the gubernatorial residence in Gadur City, Marligantos' governor Ahtziri Zamora has convened mayors, municipal representatives, as well as the federal deputies representing the state, to discuss and outline the statewide development strategy for the next five years beginning from the 5662. According to the governor herself, who would hold a press conference following the meeting in front of the Palacio dos Arzamendis, the strategy Zamora proposed to the local government officials concerned the economic and infrastructure development, through the investment in the regional railway network, connecting CDG with other major settlements and municipalities of the state with a circular route around the Marligantos.

Mayor of Rosaleda, Zaira Ocotlana Bojorquez, said that during the meeting, she and other representatives raised an issue of geographical problems that any major infrastructure project like this could face on the Marligantos island, which is extremely mountainous and unstable land, as the island formed from the currently inactive volcano. "In a discussion with Governor Zamora, we wanted to make sure that any infrastructure development is made for the people, in accordance with the law and safety rules, as well as making them prone to any earthquake damage that may occur at any point in the future, and gladly, Mrs. Zamora assured us that everything will be made accordingly", Bojorquez said.

Governor Zamora announced that a public consultation phase will begin later this month, with town halls and online platforms to gather feedback from residents, business owners, and civic groups. A final version of the strategy is expected to be approved by the state Congress by October this year.

Social democrats lose a couple of deputies, but retain a one-party majority in Congress

In an election, faced with major issues and topics like internationalist shift of the ruling party, policies to help the diaspora, an international scandal involving Istalia and Kalistan, as well as the possible resignation of PM García and anti-corruption efforts in the state-owned enterprises, the ruling Seleyan Social Democratic Party has won yet another solo majority, securing a third quinquenio in office, with its leader and current Prime Minister, Ximona García, being re-elected for five more years, after she pledged to lead the party, but did not rule out possible resignation mid-term due to the health concerns.

With 130 seats, and even though it is thirteen fewer than in the previous 5658 election, PSSG still holds onto their majority, with a possibility of negotiations with other left-of-centre parties like green agrarian MAP or regionalist VU, to provide confidence and supply for the social democrats, for a more stable majority, the party's secretary-general Jatziri Lara Camacho told the press after the final results being announced by the National Electoral Institute (INE).

Among the major growers of this election are the centre-right parties, primarily, the Commitment to Gaduridos (CxG), which has been renewed for yet another election by its constituent member parties: Reform Party and the Radicals. Andres Duran de la Cruz, leader of the coalition and the Radical Party, thanked the voters for "strengthening the opposition front" with 12 new deputies in the lower chamber of Gaduridos' legislature, the National Congress, increasing their parliamentary represenation from just 60 members of parliament, which because the worst result of both parties in recent history, to 72. According to de la Cruz, such rapid growth of the opposition alliance shows that "people are getting tired of reckless populist promises and policies of socialdestructoras (social destroycrats)".

PDH, which once parted its ways with both parties, and became increasingly pro-third position, by not siding with either the left or the right, suddenly began to change, with sources within the party saying its members are considering to push the leadership to join CxG, something which could be a major shift in party's behaviour and ideology. When El MM asked the leader of the hosian democrats, Briselda Fuentas, whether she knew anything about the growing movement in the party, she replied that the leadership council is open for discussions, but as of right now, there are no open negotiations about it, and moreover, the majority of PDH does not support a turn towards the right-wing coalition.

Now, with a renewed and relatively stable majority in both chambers of the Parliament, Garcíanist forces will face five more years of tough challenges, including the chaos and division unfolding in Rildanor, with close allies of Gaduri chief of government, as well as the PM herself, allegedly, being unhappy with the position the Imperial Chancellery in Kaliburg is taking towards the new government in Rildanor. In addition, García has to prepare the nation and her own party for a stable transfer of power somewhere during her term, without letting social democrats lose support, if she wishes her party to win again in five years.
