Crown Princess Jaanika is no longer Crown Princess as today her father symbolically abdicated the throne and she was swiftly coronated as Dolgava's next sitting monarch. For her it was a busy day filled with celebration and pomp and circumstance, but for the country it was a move people had known about for years now.

The day began with King Sigismund III abdicating at 5:30 AM local time in a simple document. According to Dolgavan law, Jaanika became Queen the second he signed that document, but her coronation as Queen made this official. The ceremony itself started promptly at 10:00 AM, when Jaanika was escorted into  St. Matthews Cathedral by means of a special ceremonial guard, and a parade. Jaanika wore a simple light blue flowing dress, which trailed behind her, made of silk. Due to cold temperatures, she also wore a fur coat when outdoors, but she would wear her dress when inside of the cathedral.

At 11:00 the service began, with the Luthorian Church of Dolgava's Bishop of Aikums presiding over the service. The Prime Minister along with much of the Government was in attendance, along with the outgoing leader of the opposition and members of the Conservative party as well. Also invitations to all former Dolgavan Prime Minister's were given along with all foreign heads of state and foreign royal families.

At 12:00 the new Queen was officially coronated with the official Dolgavan crown, made of white gold, being placed on her head. From there she gave a quick statement thanking her father, as well as the Dolgavan people. Her official title as Queen is as follows:

Her Most Fair and Beautiful Royal Majesty, of the House of Rothingren-Ludwig, Jaanika by the Grace of God, Queen of Dolgava, Protecter of Freedom and Liberty, Duchess of Karzon, Countess of Noversk, Princess of Hutori and Duchess of Middenhall, Heir of the House of Anais, Princess of Hulstria, Protector of the Eastern Territories, Duchess of Petrovgrad, Princess of Trigunia, Princess of Verona, Princess of Deltaria, Countess of Rothingren Protector of the Königreich, Advocate for the People

Several streets of Aikums were closed for the event, and the new Queen was paraded in an armored limousine, with her husband through the streets of Aikums, starting on Pilsaime Straße which passes both the Dolgavan Parilament building (Reiksaima), the treasury building, and the Prime Minister's official residence, before making a loop around the ring road in Aikums. Crowds gathered to see the new Queen and many braved the snow to sit drinking beer, and making a day of it. Coronation days are an excuse for Dolgavans to have the day off of work, and to party, and many Dolgavans made sure to do just this.

The Prime Minister reportedly was very pleased with the event, and has in the past spent time speaking with the Crown Princess, knowing her well at this point. He made a short public statement today saying "Jaanika will be an amazing Queen, I am glad to see her officially Queen"

For the country, this marks the beginning of a new age. Jaanika has shown she is very adept at representing Dolgava abroad, and she has proven to be a leader already as Crown Princess, now as Queen she gets to continue to do good for this country, and be a beacon of stability and prestige in Keris. In olden times, Dolgava's ages were categorized by the sitting monarch, and as we pass from one era to the next, we have no officially entered, the Jaanika Age.

The Dolgavan Parliament (Reiksaima) approved a 5 billion DOL (OOC: pegged to the Euro) plan to cover a major gap in Dolgava's defenses around the Hodari Strait. The planned air force base will be located on Iznīcības Sala which in Luthorian translates to Annihilation or Destruction Island. The island is only inhabited on the northern part of the island, and the planned location of the airforce base will be on as of now, uninhabited land. The island is located off the coast of Hodari, in a remote stretch of rough coastline, with the nearest large town being Briežupils, and the two closest villages being Zustro and Hanušava.

The island was first discovered and named by Dolgavan sailors thousands of years ago, and received it's name first from many shipwrecks that have occurred on the island. Local rumors dictate that the people living on the island today, are relatives with those that wrecked on the shores of the island.

The island plays an important strategic role for Dolgava at is is between Karzon and Hodari, in the Hodari strait. This waterway is vital for Dolgavan trade, as well as the North-South trade that uses the passage as a means of safe passage, instead of having to travel through the often tremulous northern Mad Dog Ocean.

The need for a air force base is clear, as the nearest bases are near Aikums at RDAF Wolfgang Petermann and RDAF Lipmaa, on the northern tip of the Island of Karzon. An old air force base once existed in Hodari called RDAF Kirzon the Great, however this was in a sub optimal location, and was closed due to budget cuts.

This new air force base would ensure that Dolgava maintains complete control over the Hodari Strait, as well as ensuring safe passage through the Hodari strait. With ongoing tensions rising in the north of Keris, safe travel routes are crucial for shipping, and the Hodari strait provides that.

Crews have begun work to clear the way for the airfield. There will be a large runway, capable of carrying full squadrons of Unionfighters, the estimated length to be close to 4,200 meters, as well as full aviation facilities for a variety of aircraft. Also another benefit of this location is it provides a emergency landing spot for airliners crossing the Hodari strait, a notorious block hole for airfields. The base will handle at full capacity 30–50 multi-role aircraft, and space for troop transport aircraft, cargo aircraft and tankers. The estimated personnel on the island will be 3,000 personnel.The air base will include full time staff housing, as well as facilities to house airmen and their families in comfort. 

Lastly the base will include hardened shelter for fighters, and multi-role aircraft, but limited protection for tankers and large aircraft. To top things off the base will also include a brand new lighthouse station, as well as radio antennas, a new DBC radio transmitter and radar and surveillance facilities. The Keris Defense Corporation, Dolgava's main domestic military contractor, will be extensively working on this project and leading the civilian efforts on getting it built.

The Reiksaima approved of the project with a vast majority of Parliament in favor. The funds will increase the Dolgavan military budget over the next 5 or so years, but it will provide Dolgava with a vital new air base, to defend itself, and to assert its sovereignty. For the
Jogi government this is a big political victory, as it shows their willingness, to improve Dolgava's defenses and improve Dolgava's defense infrastructure. The only opposition is coming from the handful of Social Democrats in Parliament, that called the move "warmongering", however they were overruled by the vast majority supporting the decision, and voting for it.

A delegation of Dolgavan officials headlined by the Dolgavan Queen Jaanika, and the Dolgavan Prime Minister Jaanus Jogi, landed in Fort William to conduct an official state visit in the Holy Luthorian Empire. The visit comes as the Dolgavan Government has been very vocal about their intentions of wanting to restart friendly relations between the two former allies. Dolgava before going completely isolationist, was for a brief period of time a member of the Luthorian Commonwealth, and Luthori was considered to be a strategic and important trade and military partner in Artania.

In recent years, the Luthorian-Dolgavan friendship has worn away, as Dolgava drifted from the international community, to that of an almost hermit state. For Dolgavan Prime Minister's and monarchs to fly to Fort William, was a true symbol, that the days of isolationism in Dolgava, are long over. For Dolgava, it was a visit that was needed, to boost Dolgava's allies and friends in Artania. Dorvik and Dolgava have been allies for centuries, but for Dolgava to secure another of the largest economies in Artania, as a trade partner, it would further boost the surging Dolgavan economy for the better.

Queen Jaanika, met with the Luthorian Empress, Katherine, who is apart of the House of Orange-Villayn, descended from the prominent royal family of the House of Rothingren-Traugott, them being the head of the Western Branch. The Dolgavan Royal family is the House of Rothingren-Ludwig, of which the Dolgavan Royals are the last ruling part of the Eastern branch of the House of Rothingren-Traugott. In this way, Dolgava and Luthori have held a special connection to each other, through their royal relations, and through royal diplomacy. For the two families, it was a good reunion, and one that has been long coming. The details of this meeting are private, however aids close to the Royal family, say that it was positive all around.

On the political side, Dolgavan Prime Minister Jaanus Jogi, met first with Harold MacGregor the Prime Minister of Luthori, with the photo of them shaking hands, quickly going viral all over Dolgava. His statement to the press was short as they were quite busy, but it shows that the meeting was cordial. He said

First I want to thank Prime Minister MacGregor, Empress Katherine and the rest of Luthori for the hospitality. This meeting here in Fort William is a long time coming. I am happy to be here, and I am glad to see Dolgava and Luthori once again on good terms. We have had a friendship for a long time now, and in recent years, former governments have squandered this relationship. It is good to be back, we are stronger when we are on good terms with each other, and I hope that this meeting is fruitful, and lays the foundation for future.

With the nations of old falling, it is good to have stable friends we can rely on. Luthori has been stable on their resolve and commitment for many decades, and centuries, and we will remain a good trade partner and friend in Keris. We need a sound bulwark against authoritarianism across Terra, and Luthori has been fighting against chaos in Kundrati. It is when we band together as friends, that is when we make this world a better place. Luthori and Dolgava's strategic goals match well together, and I think we are of similar accord on all of this.

The Dolgavan Minister of Trade and Tariffs, Kusta Teder also attended, and met with the Luthorian Secretary of State for International Trade Richard Campbel, along with Luthorian business leaders. The priority is to foster trade, and a free trade agreement between Dolgava and Luthori, something that is being talked about greatly in this summit.

With the talks now wrapping up sources inside of the Dolgavan Government have said that the talks were a great success, and everyone on the Dolgavan delegation has come away from the meetings with satisfaction.

Mere days after visiting the Holy Luthorian Empire, the Queen of Dolgava was invited to Kalistan by the Government of Kalistan. The visit comes after the Kalistan Government was invited in a similar manner by Dolgava. The Queen will represent the country, and will be in touch with the Dolgavan Prime Minister, who is making a separate trip of his own to Xsampa. For the Queen, this will mark her second visit abroad, after being crowned Queen.

Jaanika, will be primarily fine tuning the agreements made between the Dolgavan and Kalistani governments during the Kalistani visit to Aikums several years ago. Among these is a student exchange program being proposed by Kalistan, and education being something that the Queen has taken great interest in. This fits in with a broad program that will see the exchange and cooperation between Kalistan and Dolgava on several fronts, including science, economic, and culturally.

For Dolgava, its vast natural resources, as well as its past experiences with massive energy production, having a partner like Kalistan, near enough and yet provides Dolgava with a quick and easy access to a large regional power, in terms of economic and political. For Dolgava, still reeling from decades of isolationism, it is clear that they need to rebuild their critical infrastructure, and having a technology partner and a economic partner like Kalistan will be very valuable.

The Queen is very tight lipped about any talk or discussion she goes into, or anything discussed, but a public statement was made from the Office of the Dolgavan Prime Minister, who said that

Fostering better ties with our friends and neighbors will help not only Dolgava be stronger, and foster peace here, but bring about peace and strength for the entire region. What Her Majesty is doing, will help peace flourish between Seleya and Keris for decades to come!

Queen Jaanika is expected to spend several days meeting with Kalistani officials before she gets some leisure time with her husbands on the golden sands of Kalistan along with socializing and spending time with Emperor Fredrick III and the rest of his family.

When Jaanus Jogi and his DPP were first elected, they promised to change Dolgava's outdated foreign policy for the better, and today, Jogi made due on his promise to shake things up. The Dolgavan Prime Minister flew into the capital of Xsampa
the city of Metz-Leonid, in his personal A-400m. The Prime Minister is there to open up relations with the Metzist state, and establish the beginnings of a trade agreement and movement of Dolgavans to Xsampa if they so wish. As of now, little to no ties between the two states exist, mainly due to the longstanding policy of former Conservative Governments to avoid all Communist states completely. However Jannus has shaken up most of the established norms in Dolgavan politics and his swashbuckling demeanor have made him go to places that Dolgavans have not gone for generations.

After landing and greeting Xsampa's authorities, Mr. Jogi made a short statement about fostering peace, despite past differences, and helping nations rebuild from "unspeakable tragedy". He said

I would like to thank the people of Xsampa for welcoming us here. You are a resilient people who have stood up to great challenges, and you have stood tall. Where we are now standing was the target of a unspeakable act, and when you look at it today, yes it happened, but Xsampa was able to move on and rebuild. I would like to thank Mr. Bhutia and the people of Xsampa for your hospitality, and your friendliness.

I know my country has a reputation of giving the cold shoulder to many nations in Terra, but sometimes we all need to get past our old habits. Mr. Bhutia and the people of this country had to start from the beginning in terms of saving their capital city, the hub of Xsampa, and you did, you moved forward, and that is commendable. Now for Dolgava, we are moving forward as well, sometimes you need a movement to bring about change, and to stop the same old failed policies that have bogged down our nation for years. I know there will be many in Dolgava who do not like what I am saying but, in the end, I am moving this country forward, they want to see us in the stone age.

When we work together we can do great things, when we are divided, that is when war, conflict, and unspeakable acts start. I am glad to be here to usher in a new age of understanding and friendship. We are seeing conflict being resolved around Terra, and we are entering, I believe a golden age of peace. Instead of throwing stones at each other, we should instead pick up pencils, and talk. That is what we are doing, and we will have a better and brighter future because of it.

The meeting went very well, with Dolgava now expanding their diplomatic mission in Xsampa, after running a bare bones operation for most of the past few decades. Dolgavan trade relations will be normalized, and movement of people between the two nations has been normalized. For a country that had little to no relations with Dolgava, and Dolgava having a major stigma to Communist states, the work Jogi was able to do was nothing short of miraculous.

As expected, the leader of the opposition Jokubas Macaitis called the meeting a "capitulation to authoritarianism by Dolgava", and Conservative members of Parliament have attempted in vain to establish a vote of no confidence motion against the Government. Despite this the Conservatives have fallen to third place in national polls, as the Social Democrats have risen to possibly rise into the official opposition, if polls continue, however Conservatives are trying to spin this as a weak point for the Jogi Government, trying anything to once again spin fears over Communism.

For Dolgava, this marks the end of a centuries long red scare that had Dolgava refuse to work with Communist states, however they are now working towards a future where Dolgava works with states and establishes and maintains normal relations with most states of Terra. For peace and diplomacy, this is a major win for both Xsampa and Dolgava

The Dolgavan Minister of Internal Affairs Sigrid Underdahl announced today that the Dolgavan Government will be allocating 40 billion DOL's in funding to expand Dolgava's ferry network, to better connect the mainland to the Island of Karzon. For centuries there has been a noticeable disconnect between Karzon and the rest of the Dolgavan states. For the Dolgavan Government it has been a priority to help make the disconnect between Karzon and the rest of Dolgava dissipate as much as possible.

The Dolgavan Interior Minister Sirgrid Underdahl made a statement today saying that 

"through our efforts we are making travel across Dolgava, faster and more easy than it has ever been before. Past governments have forgotten Karzon, but this government is making sure that no state of Dolgava is left behind. When we are united as a country, we are stronger, and better together. With increasing ferry service to new cities, and giving Dolgavans options, we are making the distance across the Hodari strait as short as possible for Dolgavans.

The Dolgavan ferry service will from Karzon to the mainland will increase to over 8 cities and over 15 different ferries, from Hodari and Lirath, and with new express ferries from Aikums, that will have ferries going directly from Aikums to Fort Karzonpils. The program will see the building of 10 new ferries that will help serve the Dolgavan people through public transit through the ocean.

With Karzon having past problems and rumors of independence and more sovereignty from Dolgava, a great complaint from advocates has been the distance between it and the rest of Dolgava. Despite the fact that they have not having stirrings of independence for many decades at this point, the points raised by independence advocates are being addressed by Dolgava. With travel soon to be quicker and easier to Karzon, it will help infrastructure and transport for the people of Karzon, better connecting the entire country.

The Prime Minister welcomed the new policy saying that "We owe it to the people of Karzon to make travel easier". For Dolgava, it will certainly help transit for all Dolgavans, something most people support.

Queen Jaanika made an announcement from her personal social media page today saying that she was expecting a baby later this year, and posted a photo, with a baby bump and a yellow dress, walking down one of the many corridors of the Pelēkā Pils (The Grey Palace). In her post she included that August was the expected time of arrival for the potential next monarch of Dolgava, and her first child.

The Royal Palace quickly announced an official press release stating that the Queen was pregnant, and would be making limited public appearances until she had given birth, but it is clear that the Queen of Dolgava decided that instead of the royal palace making the announcement, she would tell the people of Dolgava herself, and on a platform in which they would all see it.

Reactions across the country took place with the Prime Minister calling it a "joyous day for Queen Jaanika and Prince Verner", and he also stated that "May Eliyahu's blessings be on the Queen during this time of joy and uncertainty".

The leader of the opposition the new leader of the Conservatives Toivo Meri chimed in as well saying that the Queen "is a capable and strong women", and stated that "the people of Dolgava are with her during this time of blessing". For the country, despite politician differences, they all stood behind her as she in a few months will hopefully become a mother!

The Dolgavan Government has announced diplomatic warnings to all Dolgavans living in Rutania. The government was clear in its warnings, and clear that their safety could not be ensured if they stayed in the country. This comes as a neofascist government has taken up roots in the nation, with ties to Kundrati, which itself is currently being attacked by the forces of the Holy Luthorian Empire.

The warning comes as the rise of Fascism is clear in Artania and across the globe, and the Dolgavan Prime Minister Jaanus Jogi called the ongoing events in Rutania "a dangerous precedence".

All Dolgavans living in Rutania are advised to leave the country in the next 72 hours, and that the Dolgavan Government will pay for anyone who cannot afford to leave the country. Foreign Minister Karl Tamm stated that

It is imperative that all Dolgavan citizens leave Rutania immediately. We recommend you either go to our allied friends in the region such as Dorvik or Luthori, or you come back to Dolgava as soon as possible. We cannot guarantee your safety, or that your human rights will be respected with the current government in charge there. We will be working closely with our friends and allies in Luthori and Dorvik, as well as taking an active role in the upcoming Conference of Altéa in Egelion, to ensure that Fascism does not spread across the world.

Once Dolgavans are out of the country, the Dolgavan Government will be issuing temporary travel bans for all Dolgavan citizens entering the country, except those with diplomatic immunity, and they will be also monitoring the situation closely, and potentially issuing sanctions or cutting ties, if further actions of extremism and tyranny persist.

The Dolgavan Prime Minister along with Foreign Minister Karl Tamm along with surprisingly the Leader of the Opposition Toivo Meri and Prince Verner who will be representing his wife, Queen Jaanika at the upcoming Conference of Altéa which will take place in Egelion. For the Dolgavan Government is marks a possibility for Dolgava to play an active role in shaping global geopolitics moving forward, and ensuring Dolgava's geopolitical goals are respected in the future. With the rise of authoritarianism growing, it is clear this will be a historic conference.

Following the unexpected announcement from the Jogi Government that the leader of the Dolgavanas Konservatīvā Partija and the leader of the opposition will be attending the upcoming Conference of Altéa, one cannot ignore the incredible turnaround of the Conservatives, who for years were rudderless, and now are rising ever higher in Dolgavan election prediction polls. It all comes from the leadership of one man Toivo Meri.

Meri was born and raised on the island of Karzon in the town of Voltnostra and grew up in a middle class Dolgavan family. He would get into politics after getting a political science degree at the University of Karzon, in Fort Karzonpils. He would rise through local governments, becoming a city council member in Fort Karzonpils. He would skip trying to become Mayor, and run for MP for the local district, losing out to a Social Democrat in the general election. However after trying another seat, he would be successful in 5610.

Now that he is in the Reiksaima, he has advocated for more forcefulness for Dolgava abroad, with an empathsis on a military buildup of Dolgava's military mainly aimed at Trigunia. When Trigunia fell, he called for an restart to Dolgava's nuclear submarine program, and now as opposition leader, has promised to replace the Dolgavan nuclear submarine fleet with new units. He has also promised to restart the Dolgavan Expeditionary Force.

His message now as opposition leader has made headlines, with him gaining the support of Conservative donors once again, and giving the party a means to move forward. This along with the mismanagement of the struggling Social Democrats, have now led to the Conservatives trailing the Dairy Party by only a few points.

Now with uncertainty growing, and his message sticking he is going for the Premiership himself! He has already started a early campaign, calling for a solid direction and more forceful decision making. He has called the Jogi Government weak and indecisive, something that is connecting with Dolgavans everywhere.

Now the Government knows they need to have him come with them for a diplomatic summit, something that even more so, cements his position as a leader, and will certainly add to the growing calls for a new direction, and new leadership

Prince Regent of the Kingdom of Dolgava has died today in a tragic plane in the stait of Karzon, heading towards Egelion. The crash killed the prince Verner Banchlov Rothingren-Traugott-Ludwig dying at the age of 29 years old. He died along with a reported 9 other passengers on board, along with two pilots. The Prince consort was on his way to the Conference of Altéa, to represent his pregnant wife, who was not attending. In his separate plane, he took off in an air convoy, which flew in tandem with the Dolgavan Prime Minister's personal plane, carrying the rest of Dolgava's officials. Witnesses stated they saw the plane lose altitude and crash into the ocean.

A evacuation and rescue attempt was held immediately, with escorting helicopters being on scene, to look for any survivors, however there were none to be found. The names of those besides the Prince Consort have been kept private out of respect for their families, and everyone affected, has been notified.

For the Queen the news is devastating, as she knew Verner, since they both went to school. With her being pregnant, and with a child expected in August, Queen Jaanika is now a single parent, and the sitting monarch of Dolgava. Besides a public statement urging mourners to please donate to charity, or provide flowers outside of the Royal Palace, they have stated that they are looking for thoughts and prayers for Queen Jaanika as she moves forward with this terrible loss.

The Prime Minister upon landing made a short press conference alongside his Foreign Minister and the Leader of the Opposition, speaking for them all he said that

The thoughts and prayers of the entire country, are with Queen Jaanika tonight. I in the coming hours will hold a telephone conversation with the Queen in which I will give my deepest sympathies. This loss is tragic, and I will make sure we get to the bottom of what happened in this terrible situation. I speak for everyone here when we say, we are united behind our most amazing of Queens and we will continue to stand beside her in the coming weeks, months and years to come

No word on funerals or any of that has been declared, but the investigation into the crash is still ongoing, and that will take months if not years to complete. This is a shock to the nation, a shock to the Queen, and is a major setback for the monarchy, who will have to pick up the pieces.
