Slow the Ticker, Please
#11
Personally, I'm in favor of the change because I have experienced myself what it is to have a busy day/week and then having to rectify things I had planned in advance because time had caught up. Although as Greek said we mostly have full control over how and when we want to RP something (we are not necessarily bound to strictly follow the ticker) I do think that this is a small change that could be beneficial, or at least try it.

My personal opinion is that the ticker is fine as it is, running one month every eight hours. Although I don't feel strongly about it and it'd be fine if it was slowed, I hope it won't be too slow

I personally have no strong opinion. Think the ticker is fine as is, but if we want to slow down it's fine by me.

We're talking about two more days per in-game year... and as Kubs says, it has already long been an issue that "events that should take a few weeks ended up taking near a decade in IC time," given the pace of the ticker. I think this proposal strikes a good balance between keeping things moving, while also producing a more manageable and realistic time scale for mid-term and long-term arcs, particularly those which require collaboration between multiple players, across multiple time zones.

going from 8 hour months to 12 hour months is a 50% increase in time. IG it slows the world by 1/3rd. That's a fairly significant jump. I fear it will give those who already delay because they feel they have plenty of time to respond to IG arcs just more incentive to delay their responses even further. We are currently a very slow paced game as it is. This will definitely not encourage the pace or activity amount to pick up at all.

The point about conferences which should indeed be over in a few IG days but end up taking IG decades to complete (thus killing momentum in the storytelling) is probably the best argument for slowing the tick in my opinion. I just dread the fact that while some nations change their leaders, and national policies like they change their socks, monarchies will become even more calcified now than we already are.

But my opposition to the isn't likely as strong as the sentiment on the side of change. If change is made to the tick speed, I will adjust.

I don't have much opposition to changing the timer, actually. Although it wouldn't hurt to try, considering the number of people in favor as of now.

Thank you everyone for your feedback. Our read of the community response is that the bulk of players are either in favor of a 12 hrs per month speed, or do not strongly oppose.

We are going to work with Greek to get this change implemented and will review in approximately one month whether anyone has strong reasons we should move back. Thanks again for your thoughts.
