Mūngerican Truth

5600, May 10 - President Ts. Tömörbaatar Calls on International Community to Recognize Mūngerica's Native Name

President of the Democratic Republic of Mūngerica, Tsakhia Tömörbaatar, is officially making his request known to Terra that from now on the sovereign republic will decline to be recognized any longer as "New Verham", proclaiming that it will be necessary to recognize the native name of Mūngerica, which means "Thousand Houses" or "Many Yurts".

The move comes after Tömörbaatar was swept into political office just weeks ago alongside other Panmuan Mu-Tze nationalists in the Mūngerican People's Party (ᠮᠠᠭᠤᠩᠭᠡᠷ ᠠᠷᠠᠳ ᠤᠨ ᠨᠠᠮ, Муунгөр Ардын Нам, МАН), a syncretic populist movement that has promised to eliminate the last vestiges of foreign corruption within the nation and to revive the glorious legacy of the Panmuan Khanate all the way in Seleya. The MAH sees the continued use of "New Verham" by the international community to be an insult to the Panmuan people and their heritage, as  Mūngerica has little to do with old Verham after which it has been named.

Traditionally, though the nation has been called Mūngerica  (ᠮᠠᠭᠤᠩᠭᠠᠷ/Муунгөр ) domestically at home, it has accepted that the international community prefer to stick to the old colonial name of "New Verham". With the newly ascendant MAH seeking to galvanize the public torwrds more national pride and anti-colonialist sentiment, however, it appears that this standard will no longer be acceptable to use for  Mūngericans.

Besides the cultural revival and ascendance of the Panmuan people, the MAH is also seeking the revitalization of the national economy through extensive subsidies and the expansion of what has been a stingy state budget. It hopes to alleviate rural poverty and modernize Mūngerica through wealth redistribution from affluent city centers to the plains and farms, raising concerns that the pastoralist rural communities were falling behind the increasingly rich urban elite.

Government's New Linguistic Policies Draw Controversy, Tokundian Alphabet Formally Adopted

The new ruling People's Party under newly inaugurated President Tsakhia Tömörbaatar has drawn widespread attention from all ethnic groups in Mūngerica for his administration's signing into law of the "National Language Act" (NLA). The NLA states that it is the government's intent to eventually replace Kunigo, the common language of Mūngerica, with Panmuan. As of January 5590, 92% of the population was estimated to be proficient in the Kunigo language, but only around 41% speak academically proficient Panmuan. Despite Mūngerica's population being a supermajority 82% ethnic Panmuan, centuries of Kunigo's national influence as an administrative lingua canrillica (IRL: lingua franca) have meant that even those of Panmuan descent are more likely in modern Mūngerica to speak the Kunigo language as a first language. Kunigo is also spoken by ethnic minorities like the Bianjie, Sekowan, Kunihito, Vanukean, Jelbic, and Dundorfian communities as a common tongue of communication within the nation.

Nonetheless, this is only a statement of intent. The NLA's actual administrative provisions call for Mūngerica to continue using both Panmuan and Kunigo as co-official national languages. To strengthen the nation's cultural identity the NLA also calls for the re-introduction of the traditional Panmuan script. To facilitate this transition, the government has introduced a new Tokundian-based alphabet to represent the Panmuan language as a replacement for the antiquated Selucian script, which the administration claims is unfit to represent the Panmuan language due to its' connection to the Vanukean colonial legacy. Tokundian and Traditional Panmuan script will be used together to represent Panmuan, alongside Kunigo as a co-official language. This is just the latest in a series of radical reforms that the People's Party claims will help Mūngerica finally achieve "a state of democratic Majority Rule".

Many Panmuans, who consider themselves part of the Gao-Showan World, are deeply disapproving of the efforts to linguistically sever Mūngerica from the interconnected Kunigo-speaking world. The nation's largest opposition party, the Union Party of Mūngerica, who promote a Pan-Gaoic cultural policy and include the Gaoic People's Revolutionary Party (GPRP) in their coalition, have called for the Administration to reverse their efforts to curb the use of Kunigo for Panmuan when the majority of the nation already accept Kunigo as the de facto supreme national language. The Union Party noted that the continued use of Kunigo is not just a cultural issue, but as one of Terra and Dovani's major languages and the lingua canrillica of the Gao-Showan World, Kunigo opens and facilitates economic opportunity for Panmuans to engage with the world economy. The Union Party has resolved to continue promotion of the Kunigo language in all affairs.

IN OTHER NEWS:
Purity Party, Mūngerica Civic Union both Ordered Dissolved by Supreme Court

Both the Purity Party (純粋黨, ᠠᠷᠢᠭᠤᠨ ᠨᠠᠮ/Ариун Нам, Partia Czystości - PC) and the Mūngerica Civic Union (懞好市民黨, ᠮᠠᠭᠤᠩᠭᠡᠷ ᠢᠷᠭᠡᠨ ᠦ ᠨᠠᠮ/Муунгөр Иргэний Нам, Mūngörreich Bürger Bund - MBB) have been ruled to be in violation of the new Law on Media Regulation and have been ordered dissolved by the Supreme Court.
The PC was a political party representing the interests of the small but historically and socially significant Vanukean minority. Likewise, the MBB represented Dundorfian-speaking Westerners who had lived in the nation. Despite composing very tiny amounts of the population, due to colonial history both the Vanukeans and Dundorfians control, which has made their small communities the subject of immense ire and condemnation to the Gao-Showan and. I fact, Tömörbaatar's People's Party explicitly campaigned on promises to end the lopsided and oppressive western control over much of the nation's industry and to investigate the corrupt and exclusionary hiring practices in their companies that often favor westerners over Gao-Showans, further perpetuating the cycle of economic and racial equality into the next generation. Though Vanukeans and Dundorfians have historically been politically significant and powerful in influence, this dynamic has been shifted on its' head following the unexpected victory of Panmuan nationalists in the latest elections.

The PC was ordered dissolved at a time it was vigorously opposing President Tömörbaatar's Executive Order 1066, which allowed the state to strip the assets and property of any citizen of Vanukean descent without compensation should it be investigated and discovered to have been historically attained through "injustice". In practice, this has meant that the seizure of any or all Vanukean-owned business is now sanctified under the law. As he is already under criminal charges, Purity Party Leader Eugeniusz Brzęczyszczykiewicz was detained and taken into police custody today. Meanwhile, MBB chair Sören Lowenstam has fled
Mūngerica and was last reportedly seen in Midway. If he ever steps foot in the nation again without a pardon, he will be eligible for arrest.

The Vanukean-speaking community of Mūngerica have been particularly subject to vandalism and vigilante justice by ethnic Panmuans as of late. Similar reprisals for historical injustice are also targeting the Dundorfian community, although in fewer numbers. Surprisingly, the Jelbic-speaking minority has remained silent as the government has not yet acted against any uppity representatives. While reform on the national language revoked Jelbic's status as a co-official language of the Democratic Republic, there has not been as much of a nationalist push back or vigilante justice against Jelbic people, who have largely either been ignored or left alone by the hate that appears increasingly focused on those who share western or Vanukean/Dundorfian-looking features. Nonetheless, all minority groups are emigrating the nation in record numbers right now with worry for the future.

Mungerican Truth

5600, May 18 - Tömörbaatar Gov. Backtracks on National Language Policy After Widespread Public Outcry

In a rare reversal, the People's Party-dominated government announced today that Kunikata will remain the primary national language of Mungerica for now. This follows intense debate and the overwhelming backlash to its earlier declaration of switching the primary national language to Panmuan, which remains largely confined to rural communities of ethnic Panmuans and is proficiently spoken by less than half of the population. The decision, part of a broader initiative to promote cultural revitalization and reawaken long-dormant ethnic Panmuan nationalism, had sparked widespread criticism from citizens, educators, and linguists alike.

The controversial policy was first unveiled last week, coinciding with the celebration of the Panmuan Empire's historical legacy in shaping the identity of the Dovanian Panmuan people, even if removed a continent away. The shift to Panmuan appears to have been the President's attempt to please his ethnic rural Panmuan base and fulfill a key campaign promise, but it has since become heavily criticized all over the Mungerican internet and in the streets. The pro Gao-Showan Union Party organized a massive pro-Kunikata protest in Baatyrnsentii's Dandukhai Square attracting tens of thousands in outrage over the prospect of being forced to read government announcements and news in Panmuan, which millions - especially in urban communities - have no idea how to speak or understand. “Why would we abandon Kunikata, the language of half a billion people, for one that most of us have never even heard?” exclaimed one protestor to Mungerican Truth.

Besides the cultural aspect of the language crisis, the backlash also pertained to practical, financial, and international communities, with analysts raising questions about the move’s impact on global business and diplomacy. Kunikata, as one of Terra's most spoken languages, is integral to Mungerica's ability to effectively communicate and trade with nearby Kunikata-speaking nations such as Sekowo, Bianjie, and communities in Southern Ostland, all immediate land neighbors of Mungerica. Kunikata is additionally prominent as a lingua canrillica for close trading partners of Mungerica such as Midway, Utari Mosir, and Mikuni-Hulstria. The use of the language makes Mungerica more interconnected with the international community, and the sudden loss of Kunikata as an official language would be incredibly disadvantageous for Mungerica's ability to compete on Terra's economic stage.

It was thus with their tails between their legs that the People's Party were forced to concede today to the public's demands, agreeing to retain Kunikata and to stall the full transition to Panmuan, although the government reiterated that it would continue to promote Panmuan literacy until it became the dominant spoken language. The People's Party government remains embattled with a slim and unstable parliamentary majority in the Supreme Khural, retaining just 260 of the 518 total seats in the legislature. Even this majority is deceiving - though the First-Past-the-Post system managed to allot the People's Party 260 seats in the Supreme Khural, in actuality the party actually finished behind the new leftist Union Party (53%) with just 36% of the vote last election (the now-dissolved Purity Party and Civic Union pulled in a combined ~10% of the vote in their coalition, with 1% going to minor parties).

Due to Mungerica being a Unitary Presidential Republic, Tömörbaatar has been able to push through his agenda in the form of Presidential Orders to the government and Council of Ministers, but his hold on the legislature remains shaky as MPs from his ow People's Party appear increasingly cowed by the widespread public opposition to the erosion of Mungerica's Gao-Showan identity, which remains strong. The second largest party in the Supreme Khural, the Union Party, for its' part has its origins in Zensho Socialism and has become the champion of the Pan-Gaoic cause within Mungerica. As the polls show the Union Party with a commanding lead in popularity, should the Supreme Khural fold and call snap elections then the incoming government will almost certainly reverse the Panmuan nationalist program to put forth their own agenda of Gao-Showan cultural promotion.

The People's Party was catapulted into office mainly by their energetic and charismatic candidate Mr. Tömörbaatar, a former prominent Bökh wrestler, who upset orthodox party politics by actively pivoting to right wing extremism and the festering bubble of Panmuan populist and xenophobic sentiment that had been brewing among the nation's underprivileged rural communities for decades or even centuries. Tömörbaatar essentially hijacked the once-raceblind ideological platform of the People's Action Party - even renaming it - by appealing to a core base of ethnic Panmuans who felt bitter resentment and felt as if they had been snubbed by the wealthy Vanukean and Dundorfian upper classes who had previously dominated the People's Action Party.

Indeed, 5600 represented a decisive shift in Mungerican politics as a whole due to the formation of the Union Party, which is in fact not a singular unitary party but rather an electoral coalition between the Democratic Union and Gaoic People's Revolutionary Party. The Gaoic People's Revolutionary Party (GPRP) is an unorthodox and radical once-fringe organization inspired by the long-dormant and forgotten Zensho Socialist movement, which once promised to unite the Gao-Showan world in a socialist revolution but gradually fizzled out. The GPRP, however, still holding on to those ideals, also gravitated towards the thought of the late philosopher Hiyori Takashima who proposed her theory of Fukkyu, or "Rebirth" for the Gaoic world. The GPRP made sweeping gains among the urban lower classes promising not just socialist redistribution of wealth from the wealthy Western elites to the poor Gaoic workers, but also an international movement among other nations to unite them once and for all. This message is popular with the masses, who have grown resentful of the Mungerican government's efforts to distance itself from peoples that the average Mungerican feels attached and connected to.

Eventually, as the DU saw itself on the decline and fighting to stay relevant, it decided to unite with the GPRP to create the Union Party coalition. This bolstered the Union Party's numbers and gave them even more legitimacy, which they have since marshaled to make rapid gains in local political representation. More worrisome, marking an extremely unorthodox and racialized change in political ideology, the Union Party has openly called for the revitalization of Mungerica's place in the world as a Gaoic nation, conflicting to past administrations who sought to maintain complete national autonomy from others. This Pan-Gaoist vision appears to be gaining popularity by the day as the President's idealistic Panmuan nationalist vision is increasingly being snubbed and contested by many of the ethnic Panmuan majority who would prefer to keep speaking Kunikata, thereby retaining their vital economic and cultural ties to other Kunikata nations.

Both the formation of the People's and Union Party have seen rapid changes in the future of Mungerica's identity as a nation, but they both share the same desire to redistribute national wealth away from the few hands of the colonial descendants of the Vanukeans and Dundorfians and into those of the Panmuan majority, whether they be Panmuan or Kunikata speakers. It is then no coincidence that the Union Party did not seriously oppose the People's Party's effort to dissolve the Purity and Civic Union Parties, both representing powerful and rich western minority groups, nor the public dropping of Vanukean or Dundorfian as national languages of the government. There has indeed been resounding public support for all of these measures as an increasingly unrestful public grows weary and tired of the prolonged influence of old money and colonial ideas in politics. The message either way has been clear - the days of disproportionate and powerful Vanukean and Dundorfian minority influence are over, and populism and majority rule has begun to sweep the nation.

5600, May 20 - Pres. Tömörbaatar Acts Decisively to Save Country, Nara Imprisoned

The Mungerican security forces formally carried out an arrest warrant issued for the leader of the Union Coalition and the Gaoic People's Revolutionary Party, Nara Toshiro, today. Nara, who was formerly the leader of the opposition within the Supreme Khural, has been successfully arrested and put in state custody; he will await criminal trial.

This decision by His Excellency the President comes after careful deliberation and consideration of Nara's criminal and insurrectionary background. It will be remembered that Nara, who at just 18 founded the shadowy cabal known as the so-called "Gaoic Socialist Worker's Party", was found guilty of treason and sedition in 5579 and held for 5 years before his release in 5584. Nara then fled to neighboring Sekowo, where he continued to publish libel and slander calling for dangerous and radical obstruction of justice and the overthrow of the Mungerican state. Although Nara was allowed to come back last year to contest the elections held this year, it has now been determined that Nara's rhetoric is endangering the security, safety, and welfare of the Mungerican people with his radical and dangerous Neo-Zensho Socialist and Pan-Gaoic ideology.

Just last week during the controversy over the issue of the national language, the democratic and liberal republican rule of law was undermined by the dangerous efforts of the radical protestors, who called for such ridiculous measures as unification with foreign lands that simply happen to share practice of the Kunigo language with Mungerica, a tradition that is not indigenious but was forced upon Mungerica by other powers. The Pan-Gaoist radicals, dangerous in their delusions, seek to create fake narratives that will cause the loss of patriotism and production within the Mungerican nation. Nara Toshiro has been the head authority of this noxious plague, combining his dangerous radical Zensho and Metzist ideas with the poppycock false claims of a Pan-Gaoic state. Such words undermine the glory and dignity of our Panmuan ancestors, who built a proud Mu-Tze Empire and demonstrated the unique and undeniable independent cultural heritage of the Panmuan people and nation. Mungerica, as a bastion of Mu-Tze Panmuan civilization, will never allow itself to be undermined by globalist interlopers like Nara who seek to destroy our sense of self and incorporate the Panmuan masses into a soulless Gaoic collective.

Thus, President Tömörbaatar has decreed that Nara be placed under arrest and charged with Sedition and Treason again. Nara is expected to be held in solitary confinement at a maximum security imprisonment facility if he is found guilty.

FREE NARA TOSHIRO! OVERTURN WRONGFUL STATE VIOLENCE!

THIS IS A CALL TO RALLY FOR THE PEOPLE OF MU-TZE! We must vigorously and fervently oppose the new dictatorial regime being set up by the so-called "People's Party" regime! "President" Tsakhia Tömörbaatar last month unfairly and without any fair trial imprisoned leader of the Gaoic People's Revolutionary Party comrade Nara Toshiro. Comrade Nara, who has already served 5 long years in prison after wrongful conviction in his university years, has again been stripped forfeit of his human rights and dignity because the wounded government cannot handle free speech and the voice of the people.

Comrade Nara has been subjugated to the brutality of solitary confinement in the nation's most infamous maximum security prison - the Penitentiary Khar Gol Administrative Maximum Security Complex in central Baatyrnsentii - with no chance of parole. It has been reported that he has been the subject of abuse, misconduct, psychological and physical torture, and intimidation despite not harming a single hair on a single head. Comrade Nara's wife and children, a son and daughter, are barred from seeing him in his indefinite holding.

Now the supposedly "democratic" government has come and suspended the membership of key party personnel. Members and party organizers are being held in detention centers and being pulled through kangaroo courts for simply expressing the sincere and truthful opinion that the divisive and noxious Panmuan nationalist cabal is destined to fall, that Gaoic Mu-Tze shall have its independence and liberty as a sovereign Gaoic nation. Even our lawfully and rightfully democratic elected representatives in the Khural have been increasingly harassed, with several either dismissed or ran out on ridiculous charges. All of this because Comrade Nara has done nothing but tirelessly advocate for worker's liberation and national unity among all the races for a Gaoic Mu-Tze, one with a shared destiny connected by our common tongue and culture of Kunigo!

Thus, the Party's conscience is made clear. We must rally the people to demonstrate and save Mu-Tze's democracy. Let us demand in a voice loud and clear, so vigorous that the government will have no choice but to obey - FREE NARA TOSHIRO!

Mu-Tze Truth

5601, March 10 - Batoseitei Shinbun to be shut down for Incitement to Violence and Sedition, GPRP Members Expelled from Khural

The people of Mu-Tze have had enough of the chaotic, destructive, and divisive talk of the Batoseitei Shinbun, the radical Gaoic Communist and Zensho Socialist mouthpiece that will bring nothing but ruin to our Panmuan nation. Recently, it called for the people to act as anti-state agents, to obstruct justice and to unlawfully attempt to combat riot control police trying to contain the situation for the safety of the civilians and citizens. This is sedition and incitement to violence. Thus, the government has decisively ordered a swift shutdown of the Batoseitei Shinbun for its crimes, and the arrest of several key publishers and writers responsible for its' sowing of chaos.

Meanwhile, the Constitutional Court unilaterally ruled that the ideology of the Gaoic People's Revolutionary Party, which wrongfully and ignorantly advocates for the bastardization of our Panmuan motherland into a Gaoic puppet state, violates the Constitution of Mu-Tze, which declares that Mu-Tze is firmly a Panmuan nation. Thus, an ultimatum has been delivered to those remaining GPRP lawmakers in the Khural. Either they renounce the GPRP's hateful ideology and take an oath of loyalty to Mu-Tze and her Panmuan people and the Constitution, or those that refuse will be expelled. The Khural will be cleansed of harmful terrorists and anti-state insurrectionists.

5602, January 15 - Mungerica to be renamed Mu-Tze internationally, Public Work begins on Monument to Bat-Erdene to Commemorate 5180th Anniversary of Panmuan Unification

Mungerica will be renamed Mu-Tze internationally in honor of the great Mu-Tze Empire, which built the foundation of the glorious Panmuan culture and civilization upon which Mu-Tze is built.

In addition, His Excellency President Tomorbaatar announced the beginning of construction on a colossal statue of the esteemed and glorious Bat-Erdene, the first visionary Panmuan to completely unite our people and spread the enlightened reign of the Mu-Tze Empire far and wide across Terra. The Monument will consist of a colossal stainless steel equestrian statue of Bat-Erdene astride a horse, resting upon a concrete hall base. It is expected to be completed by 5608 to celebrate the 5190th anniversary of Bat-Erdene's 418 CE unification of the Panmuan nation.

Human Rights Violations, Torture rampant in Mu-Tze but condemned across Terra; International Observers cast Doubt over Rigged Elections

Mu-Tze, formerly New Verham, a nation that once held so much promise, has since become a de facto authoritarian one-man show with "President" Ts. Tomorbaatar making the country his personal playground. Embracing an unorthodox strain of ultranationalism based upon the nation's predominant Panmuan ethnicity, Mr. Tomorbaatar increasingly paints his fantasies rooted in the national myth of reviving the glories of the long-lost Mu-Tze Empire in deeper and deeper shades of crimson blood. Despite most of the country speaking Kunikata and Mu-Tze's significant cultural divide from the old Mu-Tze Empire that Mr. Tomorbaatar constantly uses to pseudohistorically justify his incredibly xenophobic and divisive racially-rooted political objectives, he has made it his mission to destroy those who oppose this fantasy, and has never shied away from violations of democratic norms and institutions, which have but virtually disappeared from Mu-Tze since his controversial ascension in 5600.

The most notable of these violations was the unfair arrest and then indefinite detention of Nara Toshiro, communist and leader of the Pan-Gaoic "Gaoic People's Revolutionary Party", Mu-Tze's largest party by membership. Mr. Nara, who is believed by the international community to have actually had more votes and therefore have truly won the 5590 Mu-Tze election, has been a constant thorn in the side of Mu-Tze authorities. Years ago in the 5570s, he was famously imprisoned as a college student for a total of 5 years as a result of his wrongful conviction during his framing in the 5579 July 4th Incident, which was in fact a politically convenient ruse to destroy the Gaoic nationalists. Upon his exit, Nara was exiled to Sekowo and continued to publish inflammatory Pan-Gaoic and Gaoic Nationalist material calling for a revolution of Gao-Showan workers across Dovani to revive Gishoto, the old united realm of the Gao-Showan peoples. This was assisted by his embrace of a socialist version of the once-fringe Fukkyu idea, which has since exploded in popularity across Dovani and is widely winning converts today.

To keep Mr. Nara down, it has been widely reported and documented that there is severe torture and human rights violations being perpetrated right in the heart of Baatyrnsentii, Mu-Tze's capital, at the Penitentiary Khar Gol Administrative Maximum Security Complex. At Khar Gol, Mr. Nara has been deprived of food, water, sleep, and is constantly subjected to psychological if not physical torture. Media shows that he has sustained physical damage like scars and wounds. Nara, who is 44, is being denied access to contact his wife and children.

Not only with Nara, but other prominent members of the GPRP have been arrested and detained. They are usually robbed of valuable possessions by the state - some have even had residences and property seized - and are subject to miserable questioning and beating sessions, some of which have leaked online. These clips and Nara's situation have been widely condemned across Dovani and Terra as severe abuses of power.

As Mu-Tze prepares for its' first elections since 5600, many see it as a no-contest inevitability that Tomorbaatar will "win", and international observers doubt the fairness or freeness of these shams. The Gaoic People's Revolutionary Party, though still organizing democratic outfits, is currently underground as a result of Tomorbaatar's purges. All other opposition parties have either folded or entered into a coalition with the People's Party, the main vehicle of Tomorbaatar's power.

Confident in his victory, Tomorbaatar has not at all capaigned. Instead, he continues to espouse the virtues of his signature public works project - a colossal statue of the founder of the Mu-Tze Empire and the supposed progenitor of all Panmuan people, Bat-Erdene. It is intended to be complete in 4 years to celebrate the anniversary of the creation of the national myth which Mr. Tomorbaatar loves so much. Although the situation may look stable for Tomorbaatar for now, trouble is brewing. The majority population outside of his narrow rural ultranationalist Panmuan base are wary of the increased isolation of the nation, and many believe that the right storm could lead to the end of the Tomorbaatar regime. Only time will tell.

5608, January 1 - Five Millennia of Glory Celebrated with Completion of Bat-Erdene Monument
[Image: 320px-Dschingis_Khan_in_Zonjin_Boldog_06.JPG]

The Colossal Steel Monument to Bat-Erdene has been completed. Faithful citizens of the nation traveled to remote Shar Mankhan, where the monument is located, to pay their respects and bow before the mighty Bat-Erdene, our glorious ancestor.

President Tomorbaatar, who won re-election 4 years ago on his magnificent promises to continue the wise rejuvenation of the Panmuan nation, delivered a proud speech to massive applause. He celebrated and acknowledged the formative role that Bat-Erdene's Mu-Tze Empire has and will always have in the hearts of the Mu-Tze nation, noting that the noxious Gao-Showan poisons and myths of the past were finally being comfortably confronted and decisively dispelled with the nation now possessing a clear Mu-Tze oriented mode of thinking, a mode inherited thanks to the unification of Bat-Erdene.
