Istalia
Istalia already in electoral campaign in the aftermath of the electoral reform
Between enthusiasm and concerns, the political arena heats up: new parties, parliamentary tensions and uncertain markets accompany the unofficial start of the electoral race

A political rally in the square of an Istalian city

August 5639

ROMULA — There is still a year to go until the general elections, but Istalia seems already immersed in the electoral campaign. To trigger this early start of the electoral campaign was of course the reform of the electoral system, approved by a large majority by the National Congress on the proposal of the Minister Secretary of State Annalisa Saragat, who introduced a substantial proportional component in the voting mechanism. A historic change that, although welcomed by many political and social components, has unleashed a wave of unprecedented tensions and initiatives.

The propaganda activity, which normally intensifies in the three months preceding the vote, has started well in advance. The parties represented in parliament have already deployed their electoral machines, while a myriad of new formations, civic, ideological, regionalist and even anti-institutional, are preparing to register as soon as it is formally allowed. From republicans to anarchists, through localist movements and groups of environmentalist or libertarian orientation, the voices ready to compete for a space in the future Congress are multiplying.

Among the historic parties, the Socialist Democratic Party (PSD) is riding the wind of reform with Minister Secretary of State Saragat at the forefront: her approval rating has risen in recent months, strengthened by the public perception of a determined, innovative and above all dedicated leadership for a broad and participatory democracy. However, Saragat is already facing two pitfalls: on the one hand, internal criticism within the party, which fears a weakening of the political weight of the PSD in the new scenario, and on the other, economic concerns.

The financial markets, in fact, although they initially reacted ambiguously, now seem more aligned with the theses of the National Liberal Party (PNL), the main opposition force. Undoubtedly, the international situation of uncertainty triggered by the crisis and the conflict in the heart of Artania and the tensions that are emerging in the northern hemisphere between Kalistan and several nations of Keris have also contributed to this distrust. Although Istalia can count on solid relationships in Seleya and expanding relations in Dovani, which are attenuating the effects of the crises in the western hemisphere in Istalia, the prospect of having unstable governments and less incisive even at an international level in the face of these situations is discouraging the markets for the moment.

Internal tensions and the reform have monopolized the government activity which has partly reduced its activity at the international level although Emperor Alessandro has taken charge of maintaining relations and has dedicated himself to promote new dialogues with foreign governments, especially in Dovani where negotiations in the Eastern countries focus on greater space for Istalian businesses and investments.

The PNL, led by Valeriano Giunio, is firmly opposed to the reform, denouncing the risk of institutional paralysis and chronic instability. The party has launched a national campaign under the motto "Strong governments for a stable Istalia", and is gaining consensus among entrepreneurs, investors and productive sectors, worried about the possible entry into parliament of unpredictable or ideologically extreme forces.

The Armed Forces, while maintaining an officially neutral position (the reform does not affect the seats reserved for them), have hinted at growing discontent. Some high-ranking officials, in recent public and confidential statements, have expressed fears similar to those of the PNL: weaker governments, programmatic instability, and above all the danger of having to interface with parties potentially hostile to the constitutional role of the Armed Forces.

In the National Congress, meanwhile, tensions are growing. The Hosian Democratic Union (UOD) appears divided: while the reformist wing supports the reform, the moderates express much distrust. The Party of New Communists (PNC), on the other hand, enthusiastically supports the new system, seeing in the proportional system an opportunity to expand the influence of the radical left.

Civil society is mobilizing like never before, with squares filling up during rallies, public debates flourishing, and non-governmental organizations launching awareness campaigns on representation, participation, and transparency. However, there are signs of polarization and tensions between opposing groups: incidents of mutual contestation between protesters of different orientations have already occurred in Romula, Caleon, Milona, and Torre d''o Sulento.

On the communications front, the early start of the campaign has also pushed newspapers, digital platforms and radio and television broadcasters to intensify political coverage, and talk shows are a battleground between the country's leading personalities.

What is certain is that the reform has rewritten not only the rules of voting but also the methods of political debate. Istalia has entered a new phase: that of a Greater competitive pluralism, where every voice wants to count and every vote can make a difference.
The year that separates the country from the 5640 elections will therefore be long, intense and potentially turbulent but for many it is also a sign that Istalian democracy, despite a thousand challenges, is evolving and consolidating.

Announced the engagement of Grand Prince Tommaso to Melissa Piacentini
The wedding will be held on April 4 at the Basilica of All Angels: heads of state and delegations from all over the world invited

21 February 4640

ROMULA – It's official: the Grand Prince of the Crown Tommaso, 34, will marry Melissa Piacentini, 24, a student in Cultural Heritage and model originally from Saracco sul Merevino, in the heart of the Trivendito. The announcement was made yesterday by the Imperial House, which also confirmed the wedding date: April 4, with a solemn ceremony at the Basilica of All the Angels, a traditional place of worship linked to Istalian state ceremonies.

The news is destined to shake up both the civil society and the little but growing aristocracy, a cathegory that since the foundation of the Imperial State has began to be reformed by the Crown.
For years Prince Tommaso has been considered the golden bachelor of Istalia, a figure as fascinating as he was elusive, torn between military duty, serving with honor in the Imperial Navy on two frigates and later on one of the new Folgore-class destroyers, and a turbulent love life, often the subject of gossip columns.

His brief but intense relationships, never made official, have fueled the public's fantasies and the pens of tabloid journalists for years, but those who knew him well knew that behind that cover-worthy smile and the fame of a seducer hid a heart waiting for someone capable of truly striking him.

That "someone" arrived two years ago, in one of the most unexpected ways: a wild evening in the Capital, during a leave of absence of the Prince and a vacation of Melissa Piacentini with friends. From a night that seemed destined to dissolve like so many others, an unexpected understanding was born instead. The Prince, sources close to the Crown say, transformed that fleeting adventure into a four-day guided tour of the museums, works of art and flavours of the Capital, winning the heart of the young Melissa and perhaps leaving his own.

The relationship, which remained out of the spotlight for a long time, was kept discreet for two years. Only six months ago, the press's suspicions became insistent, and last September the Imperial House officially confirmed the bond. Since then, the two have appeared together on rare but significant public occasions, showing an authentic and sober complicity, which has contributed to increasing the population's sympathy towards the future Gran Princess of the Crown.

According to reports the Imperial House has already started sending out invitations for the ceremony on 4 April, addressing them to friendly nations and major heads of state, in what promises to be one of the most important social and diplomatic events of the year.

With this announcement Istalia prepares to welcome a new figure into the heart of its most illustrious family and if novels teach us anything, it's that even in the most ancient monarchies true nobility is that of feelings.

HE IS THE (CHARMING) PRINCE. SHE, A QUEEN OF HEARTS
Tommaso of Istalia and Melissa Piacentini: from a night in Romula to the royal wedding of the year!

If you thought fairy tales no longer existed, it’s time to think again: Tommaso, the Grand Prince of the Crown, has asked for the hand of the beautiful Melissa Piacentini, 24, a model with a disarming smile and a student of Cultural Heritage with her heart torn between the beauty of the past and her new, brilliant future at court.

The official announcement came few days ago from the Imperial Household and an entire country can’t wait to be there. As announced, the wedding will be held on April 4 at the Basilica of All Angels, a long-standing traditional setting for such state ceremonies. It seems that invitations are already pouring in for foreign Heads of State and Government, international delegations, ambassadors and even celebrities.

But let's take a step back: for years Grand Prince Tommaso, with those eyes of an officer and gentleman, has set tabloid covers and hearts of Istalian women ablaze. Always in uniform, rarely accompanied by the same woman for more than one season, when his commitments in the Navy allowed him to, he seemed destined for a life as a confirmed bachelor, at least until that fateful night two years ago.

She, Melissa, comes from Saracco sul Merevino, a tiny village in Trivendito where time seems to have stopped. But in Romula, during a vacation with friends, fate put her in the Prince's path. The rest? A love at first sight seasoned with a night of passion and a long walk among the treasures of the Capital that lasted four days. Who would have ever thought that Tommaso's shortest adventure would turn into the longest?

For two years, the two lovebirds managed to outrun the press. Few sightings, no statements. Until September when the confirmation came: they are a couple and it is serious, very serious indeed, since Melissa is now destined to become the wife of the future Emperor of Istalia.

Sources close to the Palace say that Melissa has won over everyone at Court with her sweetness and simplicity, while the Prince, who despite holding representative roles firmly keeps one foot in the Navy, probably his first love, seems to have finally found the woman capable of holding his head... and heart.

In the meantime, bets are going wild: who will design the wedding dress? There are rumors of a Milanese fashion house. And for the bridesmaids? Melissa's sisters are already buzzing. Which celebrities will attend the big event? Some are even betting on the courses of the reception at Quattroregni Palace.
What is certain is that on April 4th there will be much more than an imperial wedding: there will be a fairy tale that takes shape before the eyes of the world.

But who is Melissa Piacentini?

As already mentioned, she was born and raised in Saracco sul Merevino, a picturesque hilltop village in the Trivendito area, known more for the rows of vines along the hills surrounding the village than for the spotlight. A large family very tied to tradition: her mother is a teacher, her father a ceramic craftsman.

Student of Cultural Heritage at the University of Milona, passionate about ancient art, Melissa has always dreamed of working in art field but apparently fate had other plans: noticed since Young, she undertook a model carrier, mainly between Milona and Romula, which allowed her to finance her studies too. She has walked the runway for emerging brands and posed for several advertising campaigns, but nothing that suggested a future as a royal.

Some curiosities:
• She loves analog photography and has a collection of old Polaroids.
• Her favorite dish is grandma Amalia's saffron flower risotto.
• It seems she was the one who taught the Prince to distinguish between a baroque and a rococo… with success!

Although until now both the Prince and Melissa have never given official interviews, following the announcement of the engagement, the press finally managed to get an exclusive interview from the Imperial House.

Elide Magliorana, from the Corriere d'Istalia, interviewed Ms Piacentini for the public, here are her answers:

Melissa, let's start with the question everyone asks: how does it feel to be the future Grand Princess of the Crown?
It is a complex feeling, difficult to explain in just one word. There is certainly a component of very strong emotion, because I am about to join a person I love deeply and who made me feel welcomed into a world that, at first, seemed too big for me. But there is also a deep awareness of the role I will be playing. It will not be just a question of etiquette or public appearances: representing the Imperial House also means being a moral, social, cultural reference. And this requires preparation, balance, respect for institutions. I cannot deny that all this is scary and is something of disarming solemnity, but I try every day to live up to it, without losing who I am.

When did you understand that the story with Prince Tommaso was something more than an adventure?
I think that, deep down, I understood it immediately but I didn't want to admit it. We met in rather spontaneous circumstances, almost like a romantic comedy, and I thought it would be a special but short interlude. Then four intense days passed, in which we laughed a lot, talked a lot and walked for hours, visiting places I only knew from books. When I returned to Milona, I had the feeling that something had changed inside me and when he wrote to me the next day telling me that he already missed me, I understood that it hadn't been a parenthesis but that... it was the beginning.

What struck you about him?
Sincerity! Tommaso doesn't play at being a prince, he is, but he never uses it to impose himself. He is attentive, direct, curious, and has a sharp but never cruel sense of humor. And then, he has this extraordinary ability to listen, not only out of courtesy but to really understand what you are trying to tell him. The first night we met, he asked me a question about a fresco in a little church here in Romula that I had mentioned on the fly, and the next day he took me to see it. He is the kind of man who remembers the things that matter.

And what does he think of you?
I think he loves the way I look at the world. He tells me that I show him things he had never noticed, that I force him to slow down and observe. He says that with me he feels more… real. And that I help him free himself, at least a little, from the weight he carries on his shoulders. I don’t know if it’s true, but if I can make him feel good, for me it’s enough.

Ten years of difference: for many it would be a distance, for you it seems like a strength. How do you experience it?
I’ve never really thought of it as a barrier. Of course, we come from different moments in life, but this has never stopped us from understanding each other, on the contrary, I think that the age difference has enriched us both. Tommaso has a maturity that I admire a lot: he has lived experiences that have given him balance and vision, and I learn something from him every day. At the same time, I think I bring lightness, enthusiasm, maybe even a pinch of spontaneity into his life that he himself recognizes as precious. I believe that… we balance each other and when we look at each other… age disappears.

How did you experience these two years of secret relationship?
It was an intense period, sometimes even complicated, really! We had to fit our worlds together, find spaces for each other without arousing suspicion, organize meetings with a thousand precautions. Fortunately, my work as a model and my frequent travels around the country helped us a lot. During these two years, however, despite the difficulties, we built something deep: no photos, no articles, no suffocating gossip, just us, our conversations, our mutual discoveries. In a certain sense it was beautiful to experience love in that bubble of absolute intimacy. Now everything is different, of course, but I wouldn't deny even a moment of those two years.

Are you ready for public life?
I don't know if you can ever be truly ready! No one prepares you to wake up one day and know that your every gesture, your every word, can be analyzed, interpreted, exploited. But I know who I am, and that gives me strength. I'm studying, I'm getting help from experts, and above all I'm learning to distinguish between appearance and substance. I want to bring my authenticity to this new role, even at the cost of not pleasing everyone. But at least I'll be real.

Your maturity is striking. Have they ever told you? Where do you think this awareness comes from?
(smiles, a little embarrassed) They tell me that every now and then, yes, but I don't know if I'm really that mature... I definitely feel like I've grown a lot since my relationship with Tommaso became public: having the attention of an entire country forces you to think about who you are and how you want to face the world. But I think there were other elements that shaped me, even before. My parents always pushed me to be independent, to make it on my own, to never depend on anyone, and this taught me to believe in myself. Then there's modeling: I started at 15, traveling often, even living long periods away from home. There I learned to adapt, to manage loneliness and responsibilities. And then there were the three years of civil service, an experience that changed me inside: serving the country, working with people from all over Istalia, listening to their stories, sharing daily difficulties... it puts you in perspective. You understand that life is much bigger than your dreams or your problems.

What do you miss about your “normal life”?
The little things. Going to the bookstore alone, the… crazy nights out with friends, spending sundays in your pajamas with no plans. But I realize that that “normality” has become a memory, not a loss. I try to maintain a balance: a walk without photographers, a phone call to my mother, an evening with my sisters. Those are the things that keep me anchored to my reality, to my past, and that help me not to get lost in the spotlight.

Now let's talk about… fashion! Who will dress Melissa Piacentini on her wedding day?
I can't reveal everything yet, but it will certainly be a creation by an Istalian fashion house with which I have established a beautiful relationship of trust during my years as a model. I was surprised by how much the Imperial House had to say in designing the dress, but I also tried to make sure that the dress told a story: my land, my family, my roots. There will be references to the sartorial tradition of Trivendito and small details that speak of me.

After the wedding, what will be your personal plans?
I would like to make my training available for projects related to the protection of cultural heritage. I would like to deal with artistic education in schools, or support minor museums, often forgotten but rich in beauty. Art and culture are the heart of the Istalian identity, and I believe that the Imperial Family can also do a lot to enhance them. I hope to be able to do so in the most concrete way possible.

Thank you so much Melissa for sharing with such sincerity and delicacy such an intimate fragment of your life. I wish you, personally and on behalf of all our readers, a life full of love, strength and grace in the new path that awaits you alongside Prince Tommaso.

Romula celebrates the first imperial wedding of the Third Restoration
The wedding of Grand Prince of the Crown Tommaso and Melissa Piacentini enchants the nation and becomes the jet set of the entire world for a day

The car of the Imperial newlyweds passing through the streets of Romula

4 Avril 4640

ROMULA — It is a historic day for the Imperial State of Istalia that saw the capital awaken wrapped in a dreamlike atmosphere, invaded by a festive wave of citizens from every corner of the country, and not only, who came to witness the first Imperial Wedding of the Third Restoration, an event that had not been seen for decades, capable of uniting the nation around the symbols of monarchy and tradition.
Romula, splendidly decorated with flags, flowers and colorful drapes, became the beating heart of a celebration that also involved the rest of the country where squares, streets and villages came to life with community lunches, concerts, shows and popular celebrations.

The day began with the first official movements around 10 in the morning, when the procession with the state cars started from Quattroregni Palace. At the head was the car with the Grand Crown Prince Tommaso, accompanied by his brother and best man Prince Nicola. Behind them, the delegations of the foreign royal families, followed finally by the members of the Imperial Family. The procession reached the Basilica of All Angels in about twenty minutes, crossing a route packed with hundreds of thousands of people crowded along the avenues to pay homage to the future Emperor and his wife.

Then it was Melissa Piacentini's turn: the state car carrying her left Palazzo Quattroregni at 10.30 and crossed the streets of the capital amid ovations and throwing of petals, arriving in front of the Basilica around 11.15. The elegance of the future Crown Princess left everyone breathless: she was wearing a dress designed by Natalia Sperandio of the historic Maison Narsece. The bodice, finely embroidered and enriched with hundreds of pearls and covered with diamonds, left the shoulders bare with regal grace. The skirt was wide and vaporous in embroidered organza, while from the head fell a very long train of Trivendita lace, a tribute to the bride's homeland.

Grand Prince Tommaso, proud in his gala uniform as a Lieutenant Commander of the Imperial Navy, awaited the arrival of the bride inside the Basilica, the scene of a solemn ceremony that began at 11:30 and ended at 12:30. Hundreds of illustrious guests were present in the pews: heads of state, members of royal families, ambassadors, personalities from the world of culture, business and celebrities from the world of entertainment. Among them, to name just a few, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Utaristan Arken Begum, Anantonese Empress Mary I, King Romulo I of Egelion accompanied by High Councilor Formoselle and Royal Councilor Mondragon, King Alexander III of Hutori, President of Kalopia Iordanis Sylkesios accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Andronikos Papadakis, President Friedrich Alvensleben of Dundorf accompanied by Foreign Minister Tim Keller, Governor General Claudette Barrineau of the United Kingdom of Kanjor.

The rite, celebrated by the Primate of Istalia and Patriarch of Istalia, Solentia and Quanzar Francesco Armandini, was broadcast live nationally and abroad, followed by millions of viewers.

Leaving the Basilica, the newlyweds climbed into an open state car, escorted by mounted units of the Imperial Guard and military formations on parade, along the return route to Palazzo Quattroregni. A riot of applause, flags and chants accompanied every meter of the journey.

At 1.40 pm, the most anticipated moment by the crowd in Piazza del Palazzo: Tommaso and Melissa, looking out from the Balcony of Quattroregni Palace together with the rest of the Imperial Family, greeted the celebrating nation. Immediately afterwards, in the clear sky of Romula, the spectacular passage of the Blue Comets, the aerobatic team of the Istalian Air Force, left tricolor trails amid the enthusiasm of those present.

Following this, the sumptuous State banquet hosted in the halls of the Palace: on the table, refined dishes of the Istalian tradition, with particular attention to the typical recipes of Trivendito, the land of origin of the bride. The highlight of the lunch was the presentation of the wedding cake: a monumental creation by the acclaimed pastry chef Luigino Massari, eight layers of sponge cake filled with ricotta cream, covered in cream and adorned with elegant floral decorations in sugar paste.

In the afternoon, in the imperial gardens, a lighter and more informal reception was held, with canapés and selected drinks. Close friends and figures close to the couple in public and private life took part. Towards mid-afternoon, between toasts, music and smiles, the official part of the celebration concluded.

The evening gave way to spontaneity. The newlyweds, surrounded by their closest friends, took part in a private party, animated by the famous DJ Marco Asola. A more intimate event, but no less full of emotion, where Tommaso and Melissa finally allowed themselves a moment of lightheartedness.

The imperial wedding was more than a union between two people: it was an event capable of igniting national pride, relaunching the image of the monarchy and reinvigorating the bond between the crown and the people. The economic spin-off was notable: a boom for tourism, catering and craftsmanship linked to official gadgets and souvenirs.

As a sign of generosity and social sensitivity, the newlyweds chose to forgo traditional wedding gifts, instead inviting friends and guests to make donations to cultural and artistic institutions of the country.

A fairytale wedding, rightfully entered into the history of Istalia.

Elections 5640: PSD wins but the era of absolute majorities is over
The new electoral system opens the doors to more pluralism with the entry of five new parties into parliament: Saragat is aiming for a progressive coalition with Communists and Greens
[Image: HpxWOPDl.png]
July 5640

ROMULA - After a feverish wait and a count that lasted many hours, Istalia woke up with a new National Congress, the sixth since the foundation of the Imperial State, and above all with an unprecedented political structure, the result of the first vote according to the new mixed electoral system. The reform, strongly desired and promoted by the Head of Government Annalisa Saragat, introduced a significant proportional component that profoundly changed parliamentary representation, opening the doors to a galaxy of new parties and breaking the traditional centrality of what have been defined as the "big four" (PSD, PNL, UOD and PNC).

The Social Democratic Party (PSD) confirms its position as the country's leading force with 179 seats, but loses the absolute majority that had characterized its political dominance until now. A bittersweet result for Annalisa Saragat, who sees the legitimacy of her reform strengthened, but at the same time finds herself facing internal discontent and new challenges in forming a government. The Prime Minister responded with determination:

Quote:We have strengthened Istalian democracy. The time of single-color parties is over: now we must build solid alliances, based on discussion and sharing ideas. The programs carried out by future governments will now be much more shared and inclusive.

The National Liberal Party (PNL) follows closely behind with 153 seats, which records significant growth, confirming itself as the main opposition force. Secretary Valeriano Giunio capitalized on the discontent of those against the reform by warning citizens of the danger of political fragmentation that can generate unstable and impotent governments, incapable of representing the authority and coherence needed in decisive moments. Fundamental to the PNL result was the conquest of the majority of the 119 seats reserved for the armed forces, traditionally sensitive to issues of order and constitutional stability and which foresee greater difficulty and complexity in maintaining relations with coalitions formed by many parties, especially with parties distant from the Armed Forces if not openly hostile to their role in the national constitutional system.

In third place is the Hosian Democratic Union (UOD) with 50 seats, but the party comes out weakened and in internal crisis: despite the numerical result, the UOD will probably find itself cut off from the government dynamics. Prime Minister Saragat, already during the electoral campaign, opened the dialogue towards ideologically more similar forces, such as the New Communist Party (PNC) and the Green Movement (MdV). With their 39 and 26 seats respectively, a coalition between PSD, PNC and MdV would reach 244 seats, guaranteeing a parliamentary majority.
Bruno Palmieri, president of the UOD, has announced his resignation, while on the horizon an extraordinary party Congress looms in which the right wing led by Marco Bellocchio could conquer the leadership marking a change of direction for the future and, in light of the new electoral dynamics, a rapprochement with the PNL and other centre-right forces.

The new parliamentary composition is completed by a series of forces that entered thanks to the proportional system: the aforementioned Green Movement (26 seats), the Citizens' Movement (13 seats), Democracy and Freedom (7), the Republican Liberal Party (5) and the Alliance of Autonomies (3). These parties, expressions of civic, autonomist and liberal-democratic positions, are the most evident testimony of the effects of the new electoral system: a more pluralistic parliament, but also potentially more fragmented.

The government that could be born under the leadership of Saragat, if founded on the PSD-PNC-Green alliance, would be the most progressive since the foundation of the Imperial State: strong attention to the environment, renewable energy, sustainable development and social policies, also in relation to the recent identification of new strategic resources in the national subsoil.

The international positioning of the future executive remains uncertain. The internal tensions within the PSD, the complexity of the reform and the tensions that emerged in the aftermath of its approval have absorbed much of the political attention in recent months, while the financial markets have reacted with cautious optimism, also encouraged by the entry into parliament of the Democracy and Freedom party, close to large industrial interests.

The Emperor will begin consultations early next week, starting of course with the PSD. Istalia is now waiting to find out if Minister Secretary of State Saragat will really succeed in transforming increased pluralism into stability and if this new act for Istalian democracy will live up to the hopes and promises.

National Congress grants confidence to new government: Annalisa Saragat for her third term
Although negotiations took longer than expected, the Government, which is strongly left-leaning, is ready to work both nationally and internationally
October 5640

ROMULA - The National Congress has officially granted confidence to the new executive led by President Annalisa Saragat, who was reconfirmed as leader of the country for a third term. The new government is born from a coalition between the Democratic Socialist Party, the Party of New Communists and the Greens' Movement, a majority strongly left-leaning and which promises to act accordingly on social, economic and international issues.

Although in the aftermath of the general elections it was expected that the Emperor would quickly grant a new mandate to Saragat, negotiations for the formation of the government dragged on throughout August and September: the main cause was the tenacious position of the New Communists, who made their entry into the coalition conditional on specific programmatic commitments.

Among the central demands of the communists, the state management of natural resources through public companies and the allocation of revenues to the Istalian Sovereign Fund to finance socioeconomic support policies for the population. They also demanded a new approach to international trade negotiations, so that agreements respect high standards of protection for workers and consumers, without penalizing national companies. In this perspective, the use of bilateral protectionist mechanisms based on reciprocity with partners is not excluded.

The most delicate issue, however, concerned the question of the Majatrana minority, and specifically the "traditionalist" Majatran minority, as defined for some time now by analysts, scholars and also by the political world. The New Communists, who have always been sensitive to the issue and in contrast to the rest of the national political landscape, have defined the need to address the problem of systemic discrimination suffered by this part of the population as "no longer postponable", particularly in the north of the peninsula, where there are frequent episodes of racism, social exclusion and institutional marginalization, including serious shortcomings by the Armed Forces who have never removed the rules and limitations introduced at the time of the Patriotic War against the Majatran population. The communists have asked for formal guarantees that the government will take concrete action to improve the status of this part of the Istalian population and to avoid new forms of radicalization due to such alienation.

It is precisely on this point that the greatest internal resistance has been recorded within the PSD, where many members have expressed fears for possible political repercussions, given the persistent sensitivity of public opinion and national memory with respect to the Patriotic War and the episodes of extremism and betrayal by many elements of the Majatran minority that characterized it. The greatest resistance, as expected, came from the PSD congress members in the ranks of the seats reserved for the Armed Forces, the PSD members in parliament most hostile to the Communists.

In the end, also thanks to the active mediation of the Emperor, a compromise was reached and Saragat was officially given the task of forming the new government which, now that it has also received parliamentary confidence, can begin to work.

In the meantime, the Emperor is preparing to embark on an important Dovanian tour, which will take him to visit strategic countries such as Xampa, Utaristan, South Dovani and Kimlien, accompanied of course by Minister Secretary of State Saragat, whose second government paved the way for the organization of this diplomatic tour, and by the new Minister of Economy, Trade and National Industry Carola Martini, a leading figure of the New Communists. The goal is to strengthen economic and political relations, especially with South Dovani, Xampa and Kimlien, the two latter countries with which the current government shares many ideological affinities and that are today among the most dynamic in Dovani.

However, the government’s decision to intensify relations with nations governed by socialist republics, a choice that follows by a few years the trade agreements with Vanuku, also characterized by an essentially socialist system, is raising many doubts within the country and, as was widely expected, in particular among the Armed Forces. Moreover, as with the issue of the Majatran minority, the memory of the suffering and national disaster caused by the regime of the Socialist Republic of Istalia remains deeply imprinted in the collective conscience. There are many, especially among the ranks of nationalists and patriots, who believe that making agreements with such regimes represents an affront to the memory of those who fell fighting the communist regime, as well as to their families and descendants, for whom this political choice sounds like an act of outrageous ingratitude.

At the same time, according to government sources, contacts had already been initiated before the elections with Valruzia, a nation in strong economic recovery and with growing influence in the north of Seleya, especially after the spreading of the North Seleyan revolutions. In a context that sees what many have perceived as a Kalistan hegemony being called into question, Istalia aims to become an important partner in the new Seleyan dynamics based on this new surgence of democracy and cooperation.

On the natural resources front, instead, important news are expected: The SNPE (National Prospecting and Extraction Company) is ready to present to the Government a first preliminary report on the years of exploration conducted under the National Plan for the Enhancement of Strategic Suitable Areas. The Ministry of Strategic Resources and Sustainable Energy, entrusted to Gianluca Gori, former Minister of Economy, is ready to present results that, according to rumors, would be extraordinarily promising. According to some rumors, among other things, there is talk of the discovery of what could be the largest aluminum deposit in all of Majatra.

The new course has begun: now all attention is on the government's first moves and on the ability of Minister Secretary Saragat to manage a politically heterogeneous majority, but still united on fundamental issues by a common vision.

Migrant Pass crisis: Istalia urges diplomacy to end 3rd Point Federation’s shadow
Romula, who had already criticized the tariffs imposed by Selucia on the Migrant Pass, launches a proposal for an international conference to overcome tariffs and to definitively mark the beginning of a new era
[Image: dXhQwhWl.png]
Minister Imperial Secretary of State Annalisa Saragat
February 5641

ROMULA- The Istalian Government has returned to make its voice heard in the crisis that has erupted around the Migrant Pass, international stretch of sea that has always been a fundamental crossroads for global trade. Reactions to Selucia’s decision to impose heavy customs tariffs on the passage of goods are now multiplying in the international community, which is also raising discontent towards the 3rd Point Federation, the moribund Federation in the Migrant Pass area of which Selucia is a member and which is exploiting its mechanisms for this harsh and unilateral imposition, a sign of how in some way the specter of the 3PF still hovers over the world.

Istalia, already in the days after the Selucian announcement, had expressed deep concern for an act that severely affects the fluidity of international trade, defining the measure as a low blow to an already fragile global economy. Today, with the official reactions of Lodamun and Valruzia, who went as far as boycotting trade with the member states of the 3PF, Romula once again makes its voice heard, joining the front of the opponents with very clear words.

In a press conference held this morning at Antinori Palace, Minister Secretary of State Annalisa Saragat stated:

Quote:Istalia cannot accept that the specter of the decadent 3rd Point Federation continues to plague the world through the actions of its members still hungry for power. That federation has made its history, but today it is only an obstacle: with the collapse of Beiteynu and the widespread crisis and disengagement among its members, it is time to close that chapter. Its influence, now exploited by another of its members, today, is only an agent of detriment for worldpolitics, relations and economy.

In addition to the criticisms, however, the Istalian Government is also looking for a way out: in an increasingly tense international climate, Romula proposes itself as a mediator and promoter of an international conference between all the actors involved to find a shared solution. The objective: to restore the commercial neutrality of the Migrant Pass, strengthen cooperation and prevent any risk of military escalation.

Minister Secretary of State Saragat continued:

Quote:We are ready to sit down at a table, but let’s be clear: the first step must be taken by Selucia and the 3PF, if there is still any sort of coordinated politics, recognizing the illegitimacy of imposing tariffs on international waters.

In a passage that is bound to spark discussion, the Government has nevertheless shown openness on the issue of military traffic, suggesting that a permanent ban on the transit of warships in the Migrant Pass could be an effective mechanism to discourage new conflicts.

The proposal has been received coldly by the National Liberals, who accuse the executive of "surrender", and has also caused discontent among the New Communists, who are against any compromise with the 3PF, still remembering its role in the Peninsula War. More favorable, however, are the Greens' Movement, the Hosian Democratic Union, and the various smaller parties who see diplomacy as the only viable path to avoid a new conflict being added to those that have characterized the last turbulent decades. The PSD and its leader are determined to solve diplomatically the crisis and make prevail peace.

For this reason came the hard admonition of the Istalian Head of Government towards the recent decision of the Federation to deploy one of its fleets into the Migrant pass, admonition made during her speech before the National Congress exposing the position of the Government to the parliament:

Quote:I warn the 3rd Point Federation: the use of force, the deployment of their naval forces in the Migrant Pass, is an unacceptable measure, a provocative gesture that can only worsen a crisis that they themselves have triggered. In doing so, the Federation does nothing but perpetuate a modus operandi that belongs to the past. The world has seen what their hegemony was after the tragedy of Xampa. Now is the time for the 3PF to scale back its anachronistic ambitions: the world wants to free itself of its arrogance, of its now tired and worn-out shadows.
Istalia is determined to avoid an escalation, we will commit ourselves with all our might to a diplomatic solution, but if we see the Federation threaten peace and try once again to impose its will on the free world, we will not back down. We will be ready to take less conciliatory paths, supported by the deep conviction that this is a just cause, and that history is on our side.

Meanwhile, Istalia diplomacy has started moving: contacts are underway with Valruzia, Lodamun and other governments, in an attempt to build an international pressure block that will bring Selucia to wiser decisions. The Government has made it clear that, while hoping for a peaceful resolution, the outcome of the crisis will depend exclusively on the willingness of Selucia and the 3PF to collaborate and accept a new regional order in the name of cooperation and respect for international maritime law. Certainly, as mentioned, the decline of the Federation and the increasingly evident centrifugal forces that are disintegrating its structure could be a further obstacle to a shared solution.

In a statement made to the journalist before entering Quattoregni Palace to meet the Emperor, Saragat added:

Quote:Istalia does not want to see the Southern Ocean ignite, but we are determined to put an end to a hegemonic past that has already demonstrated all its limits and has already caused too much damage and suffering. The international community must look forward and free itself from the last shadows of the 3PF that still affect Terra and the members of the Federation, I think, shall understand that we are in a new era.

Successful launch for DISP-SAT 3 mission
Istalia launches the Sira 1 D-DSCS satellite into orbit fully marking the relaunch of its space ambitions

Launch of the Sira 1 D-DSCS on board of the Caelum launcher departing from the new AISA launch base at Punta Siliciana
May 5641

PORTO SAN TEODORO (NE) — With a perfect launch at the crack of dawn, Istalia has marked a new milestone in its reborn space adventure. The DISP-SAT 3 mission, conducted jointly by AISA (Istalian Space and Aeronautics Administration) and the Space Operations Joint Command, has launched the Sira 1 D-DSCS satellite into orbit, the new high-throughput secure communications satellite of the Istalian Defense destined for geostationary orbit.

The launch, which took place from the new AISA's "Valerio Auriemma" space launch base at Punta Siliciana, in the far north of Alaria, a former Air Force base already used in the past for Defense space activities, also marked the debut of "Caelum" launch vehicle, a medium launcher developed by AUDISS, the well-known Istalian industrial-technological megaconglomerate, controlled by IMERIN (Imperial Authority for National Reconstruction), developed in a relatively short time because it was based on technologies and skills developed during the glories of the Istalian space program of the First and Third Empires and therefore thanks to the know-how handed down from those glorious times.

Sira 1 D-DSCS will reach in the next days geostationary orbit to perform dual-use functions: it will guarantee high-capacity encrypted communications for the armed forces, but will also be able to support civilian networks in emergency situations or serious disasters. The satellite is part of a broader strategic plan, which has already seen the launches of the OPTREC-2000, a Terran observation and reconnaissance satellite equipped with a high-resolution optical imaging system capable of delivering panchromatic images with a resolution of 0.5 m while operating multispectral channel at the same time, and the first two modules of the COSISAR Integrated System, a network of Intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition, and reconnaissance surface observation compact satellites with a synthetic-aperture radar sensors aimed at global coverage of the planet, funded by the Ministry of Defense and DIRSAD (Directorate for Advanced Defense Research and Development), and also managed by the Space Operations Joint Command.

The relaunch of the Istalian space program, although already started several years ago, and despite the aforementioned robust know-how, has so far seen only three launches due to the challenges posed by Istalian latitudes, which involve greater costs and technical complexity, which has also delayed the development of the new family of AUDISS launchers. However, AISA, in collaboration with DIRSAD, the Defense and the Government, is already evaluating two possible solutions to overcome the problem: the conversion of the last still existing Aquila-class LHD, which has remained in the harbor for a very long time, being old already at the time of the Seventh Republic, into a mobile ocean launch platform, and the possible opening of an equatorial base abroad, in collaboration with a partner nation with which a long-term strategic agreement will be established.

To underline the importance of the mission, the Emperor himself was also present at the Launch Control Center in Porto San Teodoro, who after the launch visited the construction site of the nascent "Paolo Tarso" Space Center, the future operational heart of Istalian space missions, including those with human crews, a declared objective of AISA for the next decades.

In the short term, in the context of civil research missions, the space agency is preparing to launch a satellite for solar observation, the first step in a new series of scientific missions. The satellite will be carried into orbit by the new "Super Caelum", an enhanced version with additional boosters, whose first test lauch last year was also a success.

But AUDISS has also announced the launch of another launch system, the Zefiro light commercial launcher, operational around the end of the year to carry civil and scientific payloads into orbit. The company is in negotiations to participate in the LHD conversion project by proposing to AISA and institutional partners to also use it for private launches, with interesting economic returns for the national space agency.

But AUDISS is not the only non-institutional company that is investing in the space economy, and in any case it remains a company controlled by IMERIN and through it by the state: the new "VerTech-SIDERALE" has expressed interest in entering the market, aiming to come back to be one of the world leaders in this field. Born from the acquisition by VerTech of the assets of the defunct SIDERALE, worldwide leading space company in the past (and that for some time it even monopolized the space commercial global market), the company is the historic well known Istalian firm engaged in research and development of cutting-edge technology owned by the Verratti Group, restablished with the return of its assets to the Verratti family with the end of the communist regime. The definitive name of the new company will be announced in the coming months, but the ambition is clear: to prevent the establishment of an AUDISS monopoly in the domestic market and to contribute to the relaunch of the national and international space economy.

With the DISP-SAT 3 mission and the previous ones, Istalia shows not only that it is back in space, but that it has a concrete, integrated and ambitious vision for the future.

Upon exiting the Launch Control Center, the Emperor met the press who, despite the numerous questions on the space program, also insistently questioned him on another issue, which has nothing to do with space but with decidedly more "earthly" events and which are filling the front pages of newspapers around the world, namely the Migrant Pass crisis, which recently saw Selucia backtrack by lifting the tariffs on maritime trade in the area, to which the Emperor responded as follows:

Quote:Fully supporting the Government, I am convinced that there remains a need for an international discussion on the issue: the Migrant Pass is too important a hub for international trade to leave its management in the hands of the 3rd Point Federation, which to date does not seem to be able to adequately coordinate the action of its members and which, above all, cannot continue to have a unilateral role in the "management" of that stretch of sea. Istalia is convinced that international rules must be fully applied again in the area: the ability and freedom to trade of the rest of the world's nations must be guaranteed in light of the vital importance of international trade.

Istalia looks to the East: the Emperor and the Government on a diplomatic tour in Dovani
The international mission of Alessandro V, Minister Secretary Saragat and Minister Martini between Utaristan, South Dovani, Xampa and Kimlien is underway with the aim of striking strategic agreements for trade, investments and critical resources

May 5641

ROMULA – Emperor Alessandro V, Minister Secretary of State Saragat and the Minister of Economy, Trade and National Industry Carola Martini, are about to embark on a historic international diplomatic tour that will cross the eastern continent of Dovani with stops planned in Utaristan, South Dovani, Xampa and Kimlien.
An official visit of great political and economic weight, a fundamental step in the renewed international ambition of Istalia and its growing commercial dynamism.

The tour, prepared for months if not years of contacts and negotiations, aims to consolidate relations with some of the economies today considered among the most promising and dynamic of the Dovanian continent. In particular, the Istalian Government aims to guarantee new outlets for national companies, find investment opportunities, establish industrial and technological cooperations and, above all, ensure safe channels for the supply of strategic resources, with a specific focus on rare earths, which are essential for the high-tech, energy and advanced materials research sectors.

Among the most significant stages is South Dovani, where the Istalian entrepreneurial presence is already well established. In the last ten years, in fact, there has been a real surge in investments, particularly in the infrastructure, mining and agro-industrial sectors. Mutual interest has generated strong pressure for the definition of a bilateral trade agreement, aimed at protecting the economic actors already present and encouraging further trade. Also to be considered is South Dovani's interest in the industrial know-how that Istalia could bring to the country and from which it could learn, an interest showed not only by South Dovani in truth. In light of the internal South Dovanian situation, which sees the legitimate government challenged by militias and political movements opposed to the current establishment, the Government will certainly also address further issues beyond economy and trade.
The Head of Government Saragat has paid particular attention to the internal situation in South Dovani, especially in relation to the already growing presence and activity of Istalian companies and actors in the country. The Government seems to be concerned about risk of tax evations, some phenomena of delocalization of production by some Istalian companies and, according to some rumors, although unconfirmed, not only that.

Playing a key role in the diplomatic tour will be Minister Martini, a member of the New Communist Party, a figure who could facilitate negotiations with the governments of Kimlien and Xampa, both led by socialist republics that have recently undergone reforms of economic and political openness. The presence of the Minister aims to foster a dialogue that is ideologically more similar, in the hope of accelerating collaborations on an industrial, technological and research basis.

But the Dovanian tour is only the beginning: the executive has in fact announced that it has accelerated the preparation times for a state visit to Valruzia, a possible new important partner of Istalia in North Seleya and in the Southern Ocean area. In light of the recent geopolitical tensions in the Migrant Pass, which threaten regional stability and international trade routes, strengthening the bond with Valruzia takes on primary strategic significance, with the aim of creating a united front that supports a peaceful resolution of the situation. In this regard, after the news that the Lodamun authorities are about to meet with the Selucian counterparts, Minister Secretary Saragat stated:

Quote:Such a meeting can only be positive. I hope that the parties involved will work to find an agreement that will avoid an armed conflict that no one wants.

Every nation in the world is well aware of what a conflict in the Migrant Pass would mean: it would be a huge blow to international trade that could lead to a global crisis, the last thing anyone would want at this time.

The support of our proposal for a wide-ranging international discussion on the issue already received from the Governments of Valruzia and Badara reflects a shared thought: the international waters of the Migrant Pass cannot and must not be subject to the unilateral jurisdiction of the 3PF and/or one of its member nations. Ships from all the nations of the world cross that stretch of sea and international maritime law exists precisely to protect ships and trade from all over the world, it cannot be crushed by the interests of single nations.

Among the other topics on the table with Valruzia will be an agri-food cooperation agreement too focused on joint research, agricultural innovation, mutual protection of production, with particular attention to the respective excellences, and reduction of dependence on foreign supplies, the latter an objective consistent with the Istalian strategy of strengthening domestic production also designed to support agri-food exports to new emerging markets, such as those of Dovani.

Istalian producers, particularly in the wine, pasta, cheese, cured meats and cold cuts sectors, are optimistic about the results expected from the tour: the opening of new markets could translate into a significant increase in revenue, and represent a new phase of global expansion of the Made in Istalia.

Historic agreement with Vanuku: Carvelli to be extradited to Istalia
Istalia has offered its financial and technical support for the modernization of the Grand Canal of Vanuku and the news is already having a positive effect on the markets affected by the Migrant Pass crisis
[Image: J8XMENel.jpg]
July 5641

ROMULA – In an announcement that has shaken the Istalian political scene and is set to provoke reactions throughout Majatra, the Government has announced that it has reached an unprecedented agreement with the government of Vanuku, putting an end to a decade-long diplomatic conundrum: the location and extradition of Publio Carvelli, the last leader of the defunct Socialist Republic of Istalia who fled at the end of the Civil War in Alaria.

According to what was officially communicated by the Minister Secretary of State Saragat, after years of investigations and Intelligence operations, the Istalian authorities have confirmed the presence of Carvelli in Vanuku territory. His extradition has long been hindered by geopolitical balances and historical reticence, but a series of confidential negotiations has finally led to an agreement that provides for broad technical and financial support from Istalia for the modernization and expansion of the Grand Canal of Vanuku, another crucial hub for international trade.

The announcement, which came earlier than expected, was calibrated to strengthen the confidence of Istalian markets, recently affected by the repercussions of the global crisis of the Migrant Pass. "It is a sign of stability and long-term vision", said the government spokesperson. The agreement, in fact, has considerable geopolitical implications: it will help to reduce the dependence of world trade on the Migrant Pass, offering a valid alternative for traffic between Majatra, Dovani and western Artania. According to forecasts, the strengthening of the Grand Canal of Vanuku could redraw the economic routes in the coming decades.

The return of Publio Carvelli, convicted in absentia for war crimes and responsible, according to the report of the Judicial Investigation Commissions on the Crimes of the Communist Leaders, for the prolongation of the authoritarian regime and the civil war in the country, has inflamed the political arena. The National Liberals have rejoiced, speaking of "justice finally accomplished", but even within the Socialist Democratic Party, founded by members of the Communist Party at the time in power after the anti-Carvellist split during the civil war, there has been no shortage of voices of satisfaction.

However, not everyone applauds: the New Communists, who have remained isolated in their criticism, have condemned the agreement with Vanuku, calling the worldburnist regime "hungry for money like any capitalist nation". They have also denounced Carvelli's extradition as an "act of vengeance" that risks rekindling historical and ideological tensions that have never completely subsided.

The response from Minister Secretary Saragat was not long in coming:

Quote:You cannot promote a pacification of historical memory by sweeping the past under the carpet. Carvelli betrayed the promises of democratization, he threw Istalia into civil war and was guilty of war crimes, so it is right that he should answer for his actions.

Despite protests from radical fringes, public opinion seems largely in favor of extraditing Carvelli to serve his sentence. In the meantime, the government is preparing to manage the delicate phases of the former leader's return, aware that this step could mark a new page in national reconciliation, but also a reopening of the debate on the past and collective memory.
