Defense: green light for the new generation of vehicles and weapon systems
Between modernization and innovation, the Armed Forces are preparing to ensure an effective and modern defense capable of facing current and future challenges

October 5641

ROMULA – The Ministry of Defense has officially approved the integration of a new generation of vehicles and weapon systems into the Armed Forces, the result of the broad modernization plan provided by the Defense White Paper et implemented in collaboration with the main players in the national industry. The program aims to rapidly strengthen the country's defense capabilities, with technologically advanced but sustainable solutions from an economic and logistical point of view.

At the forefront of the renewal program, OTO Al-Mehara, which presented two new artillery systems: the "Ussaro", a 155 mm self-propelled howitzer, and the "Dragone" wheeled multiple rocket launcher. Although these are vehicles completely revisited in terms of electronics and mechanics, the two platforms derive directly from the "Compagno di Ferro" and "Tempesta Rossa" systems, developed during the years of the Socialist Republic. The Ministry has specified that the decision to rely on pre-existing models responds to the dual need for timeliness and sustainability, while still ensuring a significant qualitative leap compared to its predecessors.

Alongside the revised systems, however, work is also underway on completely new projects, developed by DIRSAD in synergy with Leonardi, the historic technological giant still part of the AUDISS group, and OTO Al-Mehara itself. Among the protagonists:

A new tracked infantry combat vehicle, capable of carrying 6 soldiers and equipped with reactive armor and an automated turret with a 25 mm cannon, anti-tank rocket launchers and smoke launchers. Command, ambulance and mortar versions are also planned.

Then a modular multi-role platform, called "PTNG" (New Generation Tactical Platform), the basis for various vehicles including:

The "Nayar", an 8x8 armored vehicle planned to be built in the basic Combat, Anti-tank Combat, Command Post, mortar carrier versions, versions for the Engineers, for rescue and for exploration, which can be equipped with various weapon systems, including an automatic machine gun turret equipped with anti-tank rockets, smoke bombs, etc...

Derived from the Nayar, the creation of an amphibious troop transport version with high load capacity called "Merevino" is also being studied.

Finally, the "Patriota", a wheeled multi-role armored vehicle, equipped with an entirely digital architecture, intended for national defense operations, disaster relief and international missions, with a main armament of a 120/45 or 105/52 cannon on an automatic turret equipped with the most advanced tactical, optical and electronic systems and sensors (obviously also present on the lighter turrets of other vehicles).
A self-propelled howitzer version with a multipurpose high-rate-of-fire, anti-aircraft and anti-missile weapon system with counter-rocket artillery mortar capability is being studied, which can also be used for land combat and coastal defense, which will be able to use innovative radio-guided ammunition.

OTO Al-Mehara also presented the "Lupo", a light armored vehicle (4x4 and 6x6), designed for low-intensity combat, exploration and cavalry support. Armed with heavy machine guns or medium-range anti-tank missiles, it is a candidate to become the new scout car for mobile forces.

Finally, VENGE Industrie per la Difesa, a privatized evolution of the Studio di Sviluppo Armamenti Avanzati of the old Socialist Republic, has proposed the "Stambecco", a 4x4 multi-role medium tactical vehicle. Designed for maximum operational flexibility, it will be available in transport, command, ambulance, electronic warfare, engineering, exploration and ordnance removal versions. The 6x6 and 8x8 versions remain under study.

These systems will be joined by a range of support vehicles, special vehicles for military engineers, platforms for operating in contaminated environments, and other logistical and technical support assets.

On the military aviation front, AUDISS-Leonardi has unveiled the LMLH-109, a new medium-light multi-role helicopter designed to cover a wide range of missions for the Army, Gendarmerie, Police and Coast Guard. The aircraft will be highly configurable: it will be able to mount machine guns, rocket launcher pods, advanced optical sensors and surveillance radars, as well as devices for communication and friend-foe recognition. It will be equipped with the RW ATOS mission system, the "Cormorano" radar, and the SPHYDER hyperspectral sensor, among the most advanced currently available.

In parallel, the development of a new medium multi-role helicopter in collaboration with Ajace Aeronautics, another historical firms survived to the events of recent history, continues but not without obstacles. Called project "LAHH-5641" and designed for use in every branch of the armed forces, from anti-submarine warfare to troop transport, the project has however slowed down due to rising costs. To remedy this, the Ministry of Defense has proposed opening up to international partnerships to share the burden and expand the commercial potential of the aircraft.

The proposal by Ajace for a new multi-role aircraft dedicated to SIGINT and ELINT intelligence gathering and Airborne Early Warning missions was instead accepted, essentially based on a similar project developed in collaboration between Istalia and Beiteynu under the Third Empire at the time of the historic alliance between the two countries, already at the time one of the most advanced craft of its kind and which will be equiped with the most advanced technologies of today (OOC: Greek can confirm, in agreement with him I had roleplayed it on the old forum).

Less encouraging, however, is the news for the Air Force: the project presented by Ajace for a new air superiority jet has been officially shelved. The proposal was deemed too ambitious and misaligned with the current needs of national defense. The Ministry has announced that it will now look to the foreign market for the purchase of aircraft already in service, while recognizing that the options available today do not always guarantee breakthrough innovation compared to existing models.

A balance between realism and innovation seems to be the guideline of the new season of Istalian Defense: strengthening the capabilities of the present, prudently preparing the future. With the new means arriving, the Army and the other armed forces will have updated, modular and flexible tools, suitable for an increasingly unstable world and a constantly evolving operational context.

First SNPE Report: Istalia is not at all poor in strategic resources
The Ministry of Strategic Resources and Sustainable Energy presented the report with great optimism for the future of the Istalia industry
[Image: voatVNYl.jpg]
February 5642

ROMULA – The Ministry of Strategic Resources and Sustainable Energy officially presented yesterday the first national Report of the SNPE (National Prospecting and Extraction Company), within the framework of the National Plan for the Enhancement of Strategic Suitable Areas.

The document, which represents only the first piece of a wider series of territorial and sectoral reports currently being created and prepared, paints an initial but already surprising picture of the unexpected geological wealth of Istalia, unexpected because for time immemorial the mining sector has never represented a key sector for the country, apart from feldspars and marble. According to the Report, numerous areas with deposits of minerals and elements belonging to the national list of strategic raw materials have been identified.

Of particular note is the discovery made in the province of Gelamia, along the coasts of the Ferano Region, where what has been identified as the largest titanium deposits on the Majatrano continent was discovered. Initial estimates speak of 12–20 million tons of TiO₂, a quantity that would place Istalia among the main world holders of this precious industrial element.

Other deposits of great interest identified by the report include:
Bauxite: discovered in the north of Alaria, in the Arasclaro Basin (Cisavugli Region), but also in the east of the Southern Plateau (Fidelia Region) and in several northern areas of the peninsula.
Cobalt: located under the hills of the north of Ferano, at the foot of the Nayar chain.
Tungsten and copper: identified in the easternmost valleys of the Nayar Chain, in the mountainous territory of Trivendito.
Lithium: discovered in significant concentrations in the central area of the Southern Plateau, in Fidelia, near the ruins of the ancient city of the same name, an area where the activity of ancient violent volcanic phenomena is evident.

But it is the section dedicated to rare earth elements that has attracted the most intense anticipation. The SNPE report reports the presence of significant concentrations of bastnasite and monazite in the Alkayl Mountains and in the Pheykran basin, an alluvial area deeply shaped by millions of years of sedimentation.
The Alkayl Mountains, a mountain range of volcanic origin and site of frequent seismic activity, represent an ideal geological environment for the formation of such minerals, born from tectonic interactions between plates and deep magmatic phenomena.

The elements identified so far include: Cerium, Neodymium, Dysprosium and Lanthanum, with the confirmed presence of Yttrium and Europium, but in any case they will have to be subject to further investigations.

The first economic assessments confirm that Cerium and Dysprosium are present in concentrations already adequate for commercial exploitation. Further studies will be needed for Neodymium and Yttrium, which will be the subject of the third SNPE report, expected in the coming years.

According to the Report, the tectonic and volcanic characteristics of the Istalian territory, where three tectonic plates intersect, are the main factor of this unexpected concentration of resources. From the mountain ranges raised by orogenic collisions and related volcanic phenomena, to the deep sedimentary basins, such as Pheykran, the deepest depression in Majatra and among the deepest in the world, the Istalian geology emerges as a treasure that has long remained hidden.

Enrico Malatesta, CEO of SNPE, told the press that this is "An opportunity to be seized with responsibility":

Quote:These discoveries offer the opportunity to place Istalia at the center of global strategic supply chains. We do not delude ourselves that we can do without imports, especially for many rare earths, after all only a few countries in the world, such as Vascania, Yingdala or some Dovaniane nations, can aspire to self-sufficiency, but what matters is to build a national production capacity and therefore above all of refining, transformation and industrial know-how that increases the autonomy and added value of Istalia.

Further reports are expected within the next three years, and experts do not exclude that new and even more significant discoveries may emerge, especially in the north of Alaria and in the southern plains of the island, where prospecting is still underway.

The National Plan for the Enhancement of Strategic Areas is therefore confirmed not only as an exploration project, but as a long-term industrial vision, capable of connecting economic development, strategic security and technological sovereignty. An opportunity that Istalia seems intent on seizing with rigor and determination.

Yishelem Crisis: Istalian Markets Hit
Submerged financial ties between Istalia and the former Beiteynu and Pontesi emerge as the source of the panic that has gripped the country over the past week
[Image: dfq1uYvl.jpg]
April 5642

ROMULA - The military crisis that erupted in Yishelem earlier this week, triggered by the entry into the city of armed forces of unclear origin but believed to be of Beiteynese origin, has had unexpectedly consequences on Istalian markets. The mysterious entry of the troops was followed by a total communications blackout, an event that precipitated the situation and triggered a chain reaction among investors.

In the aftermath of the escalation of the situation in Yishelem, Romula's RISE index recorded sharp declines, with significant losses for several banking institutions and industrial conglomerates. Behind the sharp decline, experts are now identifying a truth that has remained hidden until now: the gradual, but widespread, infiltration of Istalian capital into the markets of the former Beiteinu, now fragmented into a mosaic of city-states following the collapse of the central government after the Red Bass Ocean War.

Taking advantage of the institutional vacuum and economic paralysis in the Beiteynu territory, several Istalian conglomerates, largely through third-party companies or offshore subsidiaries, had in recent years acquired strategic stakes in local companies in crisis, especially in the financial, energy, technology and infrastructure sectors.

The Yishelem crisis has therefore acted as a trigger for a domino effect that, spreading like wildfire in various countries, has then crossed the Istalian borders, involving a constellation of foreign companies and institutions controlled by Istalian capital. Some analysts speak of a real network of economic-financial penetration structured to operate under the radar of international regulation.

In light of what has emerged, Minister Secretary of State Annalisa Saragat has called an extraordinary meeting of the Imperial State Council to assess the systemic impact of the crisis and prepare measures both to support the companies involved and to ensure the stability of the national financial system.

In the following days, the markets recorded a partial stabilization following the intervention of the Luthorian forces, aimed at re-establishing a minimum order in Yishelem, which helped to calm investors. At the same time, numerous Istalian companies involved have activated extraordinary measures to contain losses and reassure stakeholders.
However, there remains high uncertainty about the evolution of the geopolitical situation in the area, and about the actual extent of Istalian economic interests in the city-states of the former Beiteynu.

The position of the National Gendarmerie is particularly delicate, whose National Department for the Contrast to Financial Crimes is reportedly investigating an even more complex network of operations initiated by Istalian entities not only in Beiteynu, but also in nearby Pontesi. Here, according to leaks from the top brass of the Gendarmerie, the declining aftermath of the Peninsula War in Pontesi would have provided fertile ground for the creation of offshore corporate vehicles used for large-scale speculation which interested even some of the larger corporates of the country, like Thaller-Siran.

The authorities believe that this network now operates throughout the north-western economic zone of Majatra, now destabilized by the collapse of Beiteynese hegemony and the disengagement of Narikaton & Darnussia, raising urgent questions about the transparency and legitimacy of foreign financial activities promoted by Istalian entities.

With regulators now focused on the extra-Istalian financial chessboard, a strengthening of the monitoring of capital flows and speculative activities is expected. At the same time, pressure is growing on the Government to clarify the role of Istalian companies in the area and to adopt a line of conduct consistent with the country's strict position on legal and transparent finance, even though Istalian companies were not subject to any particular international regulations or obligations, as there are in fact no agreements or treaties in the area established by Istalia, the country currently relying mainly on bilateral agreements to regulate this matter internationally.

Full rehabilitation of the Majatran minority?
The Party of New Communists presents its bill for a new season of integration and reconciliation
[Image: i4kg05Ml.png]
Eleonora Crispi, PNC parliamentary group leader speaking into the National Congress
May 5642

ROMULA – A bill that could mark a historic turning point for inter-ethnic relations in Istalia was submitted to the National Congress today. It was presented by the Party of New Communists (PNC), currently in government in the coalition that supports the third Saragat government. The measure aims to re-establish all civil, political and cultural protections for the Majatran minority, in particular by removing the residual limitations on military service that have been in force since the Great Patriotic War of Liberation and which, in light of the rules for accessing the right to vote, greatly limit the participation of the Majatrans in the social and political life of the country.

This is an initiative that the PNC has defined as “no longer postponable” and which constitutes one of the key points negotiated by the party during the intense negotiations that led to the birth of the current executive. A battle that the New Communists have fought with determination, making full recognition of the rights of the Majatrans an essential condition for their support for the government.

The proposal also has a strong symbolic and diplomatic value: it comes at a time when, according to parliamentary and diplomatic sources, confidential contacts are underway with the Badara Government for the opening of official relations. The Badaran Islands represent the historical cradle of the Majatran culture and ethnicity, from which it spread in the Middle Ages to much of central and eastern Majatra.

The parliamentary group leader of the PNC, Eleonora Crispi, declared in the chamber:

Quote:It's time to close a wound that has never healed and to recognize that the Majatran community is not a foreign presence, but a living part of Istalian history. They have undoubtedly contributed to building our culture and our traditions: ignoring this means amputating a part of our national identity, whether the nationalists like it or not!

The proposal is therefore intended not only as a reparative act, but also as an instrument of pacification and social cohesion, a way to defuse latent ethnic tensions, prevent phenomena of marginalization and radicalization and reaffirm the democratic identity of the State. "Democracy" the PNC recalled in an official note "is not the dictatorship of the majority, but the full and constant protection of minorities".

Although the bill was formally presented only by the PNC to the National Congress, in fact it was accompanied by a question of political confidence. It is no coincidence that yesterday evening, Minister Secretary of State Saragat announced that the Democratic Socialist Party (PSD), the main government force, will fully support the initiative.

An announcement that follows closely on the heels of that of the Greens' Movement, other junior partner into the government, which promptly expressed its support, calling the measure "an act of historical justice that aims to protect a very particular culture of our country, which cannot be considered a foreign body or even simply assimilated to the Majatrans of the nations close to us".

Within the PSD, however, there is no shortage of tension. Some sectors of the party are concerned about the political implications of the law, especially in relation to the involvement of the armed forces. For this very reason, Saragat has called an urgent meeting for tomorrow with the parliamentary group leader, the National Executive and the party coordinator for the the PSD group's benches of the military, to ensure a united front in the chamber.

The proposal has received a mixed reception from the opposition benches: the smaller parties have largely declared themselves in favor, but a strong opposition front is expected from the National Liberal Party and the Hosian Democratic Union, the latter increasingly shifting to right-wing positions after the recent change of leadership following the last elections. The former accuse the Government of having forgotten the suffering during the Patriotic War and the "stab in the back" of many, too many Majatrans, the latter consider the measure an attack to the Hosian identity of the country.

The eyes of the press and public opinion are now focused on the military leaders who, however, have not yet released official statements. However, during the post-election consultations, it was well known the critical positions regarding the possibility of eliminating all restrictions on the access of Majatrans to the military corps. The real unknown, therefore, remains the PSD parliamentarians of the Armed Forces.

The PNC proposal emerges as a political and moral challenge but also as a test for the balance of the majority and even for the stratocratic element of the institutional framework. In the background, the future of relations between Istalia and Badara, and a new perspective of integration that could profoundly redefine the very concept of citizenship and Istalian identity.

Year 5642 – International Edition

The new projects and investments for the Istalian naval and automotive industry
Sectors to be revitalized also with the objective to shrink the industrial gap of Alaria
[Image: wrRioxWl.jpg]
The Istalian naval industry is about to return to shine with an announcement that marks a new era for the national industry. "AUDISS-Leonardi Cantieri Integrati", a giant in the naval engineering sector and a division of the "AUDISS-Leonardi" industrial group, has officially unveiled the projects of its new classes of ships: the “Vanukamax” container carriers and the “Petrolax” oil tankers, from which the future “Gasax” class of gas/methane tankers will derive.

These are naval platforms developed on a common engineering basis, designed to meet the needs of global trade in the 57th century, taking into account the environmental impact of maritime trade and which will therefore see the application of the most modern technologies. The new units will be able to cross the renovated Grand Canal of Vanuku, whose expansion and modernization, largely financed by Istalia, should be completed within a decade. This will allow them to transport volumes of goods and energy products greater than those of current ships, with significant advantages in terms of efficiency and sustainability.

The initiative is part of a broader framework of expansion of trade between Istalia and the rest of the world, incentivizing infrastructure investments and stimulating the entire maritime sector. The shipyards that will be involved in the necessary work to be able to build these giants will be the historic Leonardi ones in Terebbìa and Neapulia, although, given the highly modular building approach to cut costs, the actors and places involved will interests many more areas of the country.

To crown this moment of renewed industrial momentum, there is also the birth of "Cantieri Mari del Sud", an ambitious joint venture between IMERIN, Leonardi Cantieri Integrati and the prestigious "Sant’Elia Yacht & Sailing", already famous in the past at an international level for the production of yachts and megayachts, especially under the Third Empire.
The shipyards of the new company will be localized in Albeta, in the east of the Nicoma region, where the already existing yards will be upgraded to face the new needs, and will be dedicated exclusively to the construction of cruise ships. The market response was immediate: the newly formed "Corona Crociere", the restructured heir of the historic "NSC Crociere", has already placed its first orders.
Corona Crociere represents the rebirth of a glorious firm, after difficult decades following the nationalization of the last century and the collapse caused by the Peninsula War. The rescue and relaunch operation was possible thanks to a consortium formed by the GFCAB, IMERIN and the "Credito Nazionale delle Cooperative", soon to become the "Banca di Credito Nazionale", today the largest financial institution in the country. The new name of the company (in Luthorian Corona means "Crown") reflects the entry of the financial group of the Istalian imperial family, the GFCAB, into the company and was chosen precisely to honor the Imperial Crown, extremely active in the rebirth and now growth of the national economy, also working in collaboration with the major industrial and financial groups of the country, first and foremost IMERIN.

The choice to locate the shipyards in Albeta, where Sant'Elia has always had its facilities for yachts and motorboats, is not accidental: the company and IMERIN strongly wanted this project to trigger a new industrial season in Alaria, historically penalized compared to the Sarrentine Peninsula, where the major industries are concentrated today.
Albeta will thus be able to become a cutting-edge industrial hub, with the induced effects that are expected to be generated by shipbuilding, from components to logistics and training services, and will be able to contribute to narrowing the gap in industrial development between the Island and the Peninsula.

In the meantime, the national automotive sector continues to face complex challenges, a symbol of a wider industrial gap between the island of Alaria and the Sarrentino Peninsula. "Estal", historically and consistently the largest automotive company in the country, has long been the main industrial reality of Alaria, representing a pillar of the island's economy. However, over the years, the company has progressively relocated around 70% of its production to the Peninsula, contributing to worsening the industrial imbalance between the two areas of the country. Today, moreover, Estal is not sailing in calm waters: marked by a deep technological crisis that began in the last century, it is now negotiating a corporate restructuring plan with the State. This plan will most likely include the intervention of IMERIN, with the aim of saving the company and relaunching its activities, with a strong commitment to electric and hybrid technologies. A necessary step for the future of the Istalian automotive industry, a sector that is currently in serious crisis and in which foreign brands, mainly Dundorfian and, rapidly rising, Kanjorian, now dominate 63% of the national market, with the istalian firms today still comptetive being "Spada" and "Tridente", although both producing luxury and supercars and thus far from the market of the mass produced vehicle.

The new initiatives in the naval sector, combined with the attempt to revive historic sectors such as the automotive sector, represent clear signals of how Istalia does not intend to be left behind in these very important sectors. In an increasingly interconnected and competitive world, industrial revival passes through innovation, synergies between the public and private sectors and the desire to invest in the most disadvantaged territories.

Welcome Eleonora!
The firstborn of the heir to the throne Tommaso has been born welcomed by the affection of the entire nation
[Image: zYxGzqpl.png]
Journalists gathered outside the entrance of Santa Sara Hospital

September 12, 5642

ROMULA - With the posting of the announcement at the gates of Quattroregni Palace and the Sironi-Talliani Residence, followed by the traditional 21 cannon salutes fired at 10:15 from Monte Preneste Fort, the birth of the Imperial Grand Princess Eleonora, firstborn of the Imperial Grand Prince of the Crown Tommaso, heir to the throne, and of the Imperial Grand Princess of the Crown Melissa was celebrated.

The happy event took place this morning at 10:14, at the Pavilion "Vescovo Serbelloni" of the maternity ward of the Santa Sara Aurorian Hospital, now identified as the "nursery of the Crown", having already welcomed the births of the children of Prince Tommaso's siblings, Imperial Princes Alessandro and Eugenio, sons of Grand Prince Nicola, and of the Imperial Princess Alice, daughter of Grand Princess Michela, and it is expected that also the childbirth of Gran Principess Francesca, the youngest of Tommaso's siblings whose pregnacy was announced two months ago, will happen here.

The birth of Princess Eleonora marks a significant milestone in the history of the Imperial Dynasty: as the first child born to an heir to the throne under the Third Restoration, her birth symbolizes the continuity and stability of the Istalian monarchy. She guarantees the future of the Imperial House and, in the climate of affection and enthusiasm that the nation is expressing, represents the strengthening of the bond between the Istalian people and the Crown.
The newborn Princess, the first-born of the Grand Prince of the Crown, therefore succeeds Grand Prince Nicola as second in the line of succession.

Grand Princess Melissa felt the first signs of the imminent birth towards the end of yesterday afternoon, while she was at the Casino di Bellaria, inside the Imperial Residence of Villa Sironi-Talliani, the official residence of the hereditary couple. Immediately transported to the Santa Sara hospital, the Princess went through labor that lasted almost sixteen hours, during which she was always supported by her husband who never left her alone.
In a statement released by the medical team a few hours after the birth, it was confirmed that mother and daughter are in good health, although the Grand Princess will remain under observation for a few days for complete rest.

Eleonora's arrival, as mentioned, sparked a wave of emotion and celebrations across the country. The Istalian people, who had followed the Grand Princess' pregnancy with affection and trepidation in recent months, welcomed the news with enthusiasm. A cheering crowd, applause, flowers and flags colored the entrance to the Santa Sara Hospital, where numerous citizens and journalists had already gathered since the first light of dawn.

Shortly after midday, the Emperor and Empress, together with the siblings of Prince Tommaso, visited the hospital to welcome the newborn. Later, the parents, the two sisters and the brother of Grand Princess Melissa, who had come from their hometown in Trivendito, were also able to welcome little Eleonora.

The Imperial House announced that the modalities for the official celebrations will be communicated in the coming days and that a solemn private blessing of the newborn will take place in the Royal Chapel of Quattroregni Palace. It is expected that within three months the baby will be baptized, probably during the Christmas holidays.
For the moment the country is enjoying a moment of joy and celebration for the birth of Eleonora, symbol of the dynastic continuity and future of the Crown of Istalia.

Majatrans Law: clash between the Majority and the Armed Forces
The very narrow margin with which it was approved has sparked criticism against the military MPs, but the Armed Forces defend their autonomy
[Image: BOynlskl.png]
A village in the northeast of Ferano inhabited mostly by Majatrans follows closely the political debate on the law

January 5643

ROMULA - With a margin of only three votes, the National Congress approved in recent days the law on the recognition and protection of the Majatran minority, proposed by the Party of New Communists, member of the government coalition. The law, which aims to recognize the Majatran as an integral part of the history and national identity and to normalize relations with the community, has been at the center of political debate for over seven months.

The proposal was presented by the PNC last May, immediately gathering broad consensus among progressive forces but clashing with strong resistance within the majority itself, in particular among MPs from the Armed Forces, many of whom were elected from the ranks of the Democratic Socialist Party. Despite belonging in large part to the party with the relative majority, almost all military MPs voted against the measure, seriously threatening its approval.

The final outcome, obtained by a narrow margin, opened a deep fracture in the government coalition. The PNC, together with the Greens' Movement and the far-left wing of the PSD, strongly criticized the attitude of the representatives of the Armed Forces, accusing them of political obstructionism and sabotage of a law considered fundamental for the stability of the majority and for the consolidation of the democratic regime.

In particular, the New Communists denounced as unacceptable the lack of support from military MPs affiliated with the PSD, highlighting how the opposition to the law also derives from the provisions of the law that eliminates restrictions on military service for citizens of Majatran origin.

Responding to the criticism was Air Force Squadron General Natalia Milella, Director of the Political Office of Defense, who defended the position of the military parliamentarians:

Quote:The representatives of the Armed Forces, even if they run under political symbols, respond first and foremost to the supreme interest of national defense. Every decision taken in the chamber, especially on issues that affect the security and identity of the State, is evaluated from this perspective.

A statement that has further stiffened relations between the military and the more progressive wing of the majority. The still vivid memory of the conflicts with the Ahmadist militiamen and the accusations of collaborationism leveled against part of the Majatran population continue to strongly influence the attitude of the Armed Forces, which have always been close to more conservative and nationalist positions, today largely represented by the parliamentary opposition.

Now that the law has been approved, the PNC, through the voice of its Secretary General Ettore Ferrero, has warned the civil authorities:

Quote:The real challenge begins now! The institutions will have to guarantee the effective application of the law, especially within the Armed Forces, where the risk of discrimination remains real.

Several voices within the party are already suggesting to young Majatrans who intend to exercise their political rights, to opt for the National Civil Service, considered safer thanks to greater civilian control and less interference from the military hierarchies.

Despite internal tensions, the majority has welcomed the approval of the law as a fundamental achievement for Istalian democracy. Minister Secretary of State Annalisa Saragat has defined the measure as historic, underlining how it also represents a diplomatic opportunity.

Saragat reiterated the government's intention to continue the promising dialogue with the Republic of Badara and to relaunch relations with Kafuristan, which had already expressed a timid opening several years ago. The head of government said she was confident that the opening shown by Istalia could foster a new climate of détente in the eastern region of Majatra, also in light of recent developments in Solentia, where the Gulnar revolution brought back democracy and a new government with which the Government, which had already approached several political forces that contributed to the fall of the Noorani regime, has made contact to favor increasingly friendly and collaborative relations.

Minister Secretary Saragat told the press:

Quote:The road is still long but with this vote we have reiterated that our nation is not afraid to look to the future and to deal with its own history. It is time for dialogue, peace and the construction of a new political and diplomatic season.

Alessandro V and Minister Secretary Saragat visit Badara
A fundamental meeting for friendship, cooperation and regional stability in eastern Majatra
[Image: k7S4q6wl.png]
Emperor Alessandro V and Minister Secretary of State Saragat welcomed in Badara by Chancellor al-Qassem and Foreign Minister Hakim al-Sabah

February 5644

BIER QASSEM – A state visit of great geopolitical and diplomatic importance took place in recent days in Badara, where Emperor Alessandro V and Minister Secretary of State Annalisa Saragat were received with full honors by Chancellor Khalifi al-Qassem and the leaders of the local government. A meeting destined to mark a new era in the relations between Istalia and one of the main countries of the eastern area of Majatra that are once again growing and opening up to the world.

The main objective of the mission was to lay the foundations for a solid friendship between the two States, which share a common vision of the future based on cooperation, mutual respect and stability for the entire Eastern Majatran area, an agreement that is intended not only to be symbolic, but concrete and lasting, especially in a historical moment like the current one characterized by instability and tensions at an international level.

Among the central issues addressed in the bilateral summit is the strengthening of energy cooperation: Istalia aims to diversify its sources of supply and looks to Badara as a strategic partner for the import of oil and natural gas. Furthermore, the Istalian companies in the sector have said they are ready to operate on the Badara territory in full respect of sovereignty and local resources, paying regular royalties to the State and contributing also with technical assistance to the economic development of the country.
But entrepreneurial interest does not stop at energy: several sectors of the Istalian economy, from manufacturing to technology, from logistics to finance, have expressed strong interest in entering the Badaran market, which is considered one of the most promising in the region.

Another pillar of the visit was the joint project for the construction of a new class of multipurpose offshore patrol vessels, ships oriented towards territorial maritime security but which, thanks to their modular design, can offer the performance of compact and agile missile frigates. The initiative, jointly funded by Istalia and Badara, involves design mainly in Istalia but construction in both countries, with the vessels for the Badaran government adapted to the specific operational needs of their navy, and Istalia will provide technical assistance, personnel training and maintenance support, with a view to technological cooperation and local development (OOC: source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thaon_di_R...rol_vessel).

No less important was the chapter dedicated to regional security and cooperation for peace in the eastern area of Majatra. Both nations reaffirmed their shared commitment to promoting stability, countering all forms of extremism, and strengthening dialogue between the continent’s peoples.

One factor that has contributed to the current positive climate between the two capitals has been the recent approval by the Istalian parliament of the law for the protection of the Majatran minority, a measure that has been welcomed in Badara, the historical homeland of Majatran culture and identity. Although the issue has received limited media coverage, the Badara government has already expressed strong interest in the conditions of the Majatran minority in Istalia, summoning the Istalian ambassador several times to express its concerns. The new law has contributed substantially to easing tensions and strengthening mutual respect between the two nations.

In conclusion, the visit of the Emperor and the Minister Secretary of State marks a historic step in the relations between Istalia and Badara: a gesture of openness and trust, which translates into concrete actions and a shared vision of the future. Istalian diplomacy thus confirms itself as an active and responsible protagonist in the Majatra chessboard, promoting with lucidity and determination the values of peace, cooperation and shared development.

SIF completes the High Speed Network: the new Castiell 'e Sciorenza station inaugurated
But discontent in Alaria continues to grow: local authorities denounce that the Peninsula remains at the center of national priorities and not even the reassurances of Minister Martini on the "Program Sea" seem to be able to appease the concerns

The new high-speed station in the heart of Castiell 'e Sciorenza

April 5644

CASTIELL 'E SCIORENZA — With a solemn ceremony in the presence of the Grand Prince of the Crown Tommaso and the Minister of Economy, National Industry and Transport Carola Martini, the new high-speed station of Castiell 'e Sciorenza was officially inaugurated, a symbolic step in the completion of the vast restructuring and modernization work of the Istalian high-speed railway network conducted by SIF, Railway Infrastructure Company, controlled by GFS, State Railways Group, the state holding which also controls SFNI, Istalian National Railways Company. The futuristic station in the heart of the city was built almost entirely underground to reach the tunnels dug under the city to allow the new high-speed line to reach the city centre.

After years of intense work, partly on historic routes and partly on new routes completely built from scratch, the entire network connecting the main cities of the Peninsula is now fully operational. The new routes, many of which are developed on elevated overpasses designed to ensure efficiency and minimal environmental impact, have been equipped with the most advanced railway technologies and are fully compatible with the new generation high-speed trains.

The latter are being built by COMFERIS, Istalian Railway Material Consortium, created eleven years ago and formed by a strategic alliance of the companies AUDISS-Leonardi Industrie Meccaniche, Industrie Nepoli-Manavia, Alfer, Anonima Tecnica Misseniana and ATIB. Just two months ago, COMFERIS and SFNI presented the first model of the new generation: the ETAV-5600, an electric multiple unit capable of achieving unprecedented performance and comfort levels in national rail transport, capable of reaching speeds of up to 360 km/h, although this will be limited to portions of the Romula-Milona and Romula-Burìa-Terebbìa routes, while the national average speed should be around 300 km/h.

During his speech, the CEO of SIF announced that work on the Alaria railway infrastructure will begin in the coming months and be completed in ten years. However, despite the promise, discontent is growing on the island: several Alarian parliamentarians, in fact, have raised their voices, opening intense debates within the National Congress, complaining about a chronic lack of infrastructure priorities on the island. The increasingly widespread fear is that the Peninsula will continue to catalyze resources and attention to the detriment of Alaria, penalized since the time of the Seventh Republic by internal migratory flows due to an increasingly fragile productive fabric.

Answering journalists' questions, Minister Carola Martini reiterated that the Government is determined to reverse the trend:

Quote:We are defining the "Program Sea", a strategic investment plan that will directly concern Alaria, with the modernization of the main ports and a significant strengthening of the connection infrastructures between the island and the Peninsula.

And yet, the Government's words do not seem to be enough to appease the demands of the territory: the local authorities insist on a real and structural industrial relaunch, which is not limited to Estal alone, already the subject of past announcements, but which aims to locate a significant part of the new national refining and transformation industry of strategic materials precisely in Alaria.

In addition to the industrial demands, there are also those of the food and wine and agricultural sectors, particularly in the south of the island, where the large agri-food state companies that arose under the Socialist Republic were decommissioned during the post-war reconstruction and replaced by huge private estates oriented towards intensive monoculture. The large public companies first and the estates now have had a negative impact on production diversification and, in many cases, on the quality and fertility of the land.

According to many observers and academics, what is emerging is an “Island Question”, a new expression that indicates the growing socio-economic gap between the Peninsula and the Island. A theme that is set to become central to the political debate in the coming years and that the institutions can no longer afford to postpone.
The island MP Anton Bressan, exponent of the Alliance of Autonomies, declared in the Congress and reiterated to journalists:

Quote:The time has come to guarantee Alaria what it deserves: Infrastructure, industry, work, and respect!

AISA announces the conversion of the LHD Aquila into a Mobile Space Launch Platform
The project was born from strategic and geopolitical assessments: the lack of reliable international partners in the optimal area makes the mobile solution the most effective for the Istalian space program.

AISA leadership and spokepersons from the Finance and Space and Science Committee of the National Congress present the conversion plans to the press

January 5645

ROMULA – The Istalian Authority for Space and Aeronautics (AISA) has officially launched the project to convert the amphibious assault ship LHD Aquila into a Mobile Space Launch Platform, keeping the same name to honor the history and prestige of the vessel.

The decision, announced in a joint conference by the AISA leadership and spokespersons of the Finance, and of the Science and Space Committees of the National Congress, came at the end of a long cost-benefit analysis commissioned by the government. This study examined the logistical and strategic needs of the AISA, the international geopolitical context and the prospects of foreign cooperation for the installation of a land launch base on foreign territory.

It should be noted, however, that the future mobile platform, while representing a significant step forward for Istalia's space autonomy, will only be operational for a certain category of launchers, namely missiles and carriers whose size and payload capacity do not exceed certain technical limits, imposed by the original structure of the LHD Aquila and by the operating conditions at sea. For missions beyond Earth's orbit or of an interplanetary nature, which require much larger and more powerful carriers, it will inevitably be necessary in the future to have a stable base on land or a new maritime platform, much more imposing and specifically designed for such needs. Nonetheless, for the current needs of AISA and the Ministry of Defense, and for the immediate future, the conversion of Aquila remains the most valid, economically sustainable and strategically autonomous solution.

The picture that emerged from the analysis is clear: the creation of a fixed base abroad, in an equatorial area of the Southern Ocean, the ideal geographical area to maximize the efficiency of orbital launches, as well as for the transport of equipements and technical materials, clashes with serious diplomatic and logistical difficulties.

In Majatra, the nations close to the equator, Amudim (formerly Beiteynu), Pontesi and Selucia, maintain suspicious, if not hostile, or null relations with Istalia, excluding any cooperation in the space sector. Other potential candidates, such as Cildania and Barmenistan, are currently isolated on the international level. Even Badara, despite the recent promising diplomatic rapprochement, is not yet able to guarantee the conditions of security and technological cooperation necessary for such a delicate infrastructure.

The same goes for Vanuku, where contacts are still too embryonic. On the eastern front of the Southern Ocean, the situation is not improving: Aldegar and Saridan are in the same condition of isolation as Cildania, while Tukarali is busy with post-revolutionary stabilization and will hardly be able to dedicate itself to complex strategic cooperation. The hypotheses Mordusia, Baltusia and Valruzia, all nations with which Istalia has initiated or planned contacts, are also at too early a stage to support a project of this magnitude.

In light of these considerations, the Ministry of Defense and AISA have decided to proceed with an option that is both pragmatic and ambitious: the said transformation of the LHD Aquila into a maritime launch platform, capable of moving towards the ideal ocean areas for orbital access, without having to submit to the political and territorial constraints of a fixed base abroad.
The choice has significant advantages: reduced transportation costs compared to a distant land base, full logistical and strategic control by the Istalian authorities, and the possibility of carrying out launches safely in international waters, far from trade routes and densely populated areas.

The project, already informally renamed “Aquila Spaziale”, represents an important turning point for the national space program, which in recent years has experienced a phase of renewed impetus and ambition. The mobile platform will allow Istalia to continue to develop its aerospace capabilities autonomously, while waiting for international conditions to eventually also allow the creation of a shared or partnership land base.

The conversion work on L’Aquila will begin by the end of the year, with the aim of carrying out the first test launch within 24 months. A goal that, if met, would mark a historic moment for Istalia and for AISA, confirming furthermore the country among the elite of nations capable of autonomously managing mobile space infrastructures.

In the meantime, the government will continue to carefully cultivate diplomatic dialogues with emerging partners, Badara, Valruzia, Mordusia, so that in the future, alongside the Aquila, a strategic terrestrial presence for space exploration may also arise.
