Romula provides the Aurorian Church of its own financial institution: the "Romulan Aurorian Mission for Faith Initiatives" is born
The Mission will be a powerful tool to support the global mission of the Church that reaffirms the centrality of Romula in the Aurorian hierarchy

January 5653

ROMULA – With a joint decree of the Curia of the Patriarchate of Istalia, Solentia and Quanzar, and with the official assent of the Holy See in Ville-de-Saints, the Romulan Aurorian Mission for Faith Initiatives (Romulana Opera Auroriana per le Iniziative di Fede) has been established in the Istalian capital: a new financial entity destined to represent, as many observers claim, the economic arm of the Aurorian Church in the world, moreover not too far from the same declarations of the Archbishop of Milona, Pietro Montini, considered the architect and creator of the initiative.

It will be an autonomous body, with its own legal personality, but directly subject to the spiritual guidance of the Arch-Patriarch, the Supreme Pontiff of the Aurorian Church, who will have the power to appoint the board of directors. The Institute will be primarily responsible for the custody, management and investment of assets, movable and immovable, entrusted by ecclesiastical bodies, dioceses, foundations, religious congregations or individual believers, intended for religious, charitable, welfare or missionary works.

Its establishment occurred following the reform of the Istalian financial sector launched by the Giunio government, which opened up significant spaces for the birth of new specialized operators. A circumstance that the Curia of Romula was able to promptly seize, confirming a dynamism that many observers describe as unexpected but determined.

Archbishop Montini, questioned by the press, declared that:

Quote:The Mission will be at the service of the Holy Father and his universal ministry and will offer adequate tools to support the spiritual, evangelizing and charitable mission of the Church, wherever it operates, in conditions of safety, transparency and responsibility.

In its structure, the Romulan Auroran Mission for Faith Initiatives will be fully comparable to a modern financial institution. It will be able to manage accounts, carry out investment operations, offer specialized advice and have dedicated funds for the promotion of charitable, missionary or educational initiatives. However, unlike a traditional banking institution, its activity will be exclusively aimed at ecclesial or philanthropic purposes.

According to sources within the Curia, the new institute could become a point of reference for the global financial coordination of the Auroran Church, offering a safe and confidential channel for the collection and allocation of funds, avoiding operational fragmentation and dispersion. Among the long-term objectives, there is also the idea of establishing an international network of offices and delegations, in close collaboration with the episcopal conferences of the various regional Patriarchates.

In addition to the specific weight of the new institution, the event has a scope that goes beyond the objectives of the institution itself: the Patriarchate of Istalia, Solentia and Quanzar, whose headquarters are in Romula, returns to the center of Auroran ecclesial life, strengthening its influence on both the spiritual and political levels.

There is no shortage of those who interpret the operation as a silent but decisive reassessment of the internal balances of the Church, in which for centuries the Patriarchate of Canrille, within which Ville-de-Saints is located, has represented the absolute center of Auroran power. According to some ecclesiastical analysts, the Romulan Curia would have taken advantage of the perceived lethargy and self-referentiality of Canrille to relaunch its presence, strong in a theological and organizational tradition that dates back to the time of the Institution of the Order of the Eliasites and the Eliasite Arch-Patriarchs of Istalia.

As theologian Lionello Apatini commented:

Quote:This is the most important initiative of the Patriarchate of Istalia, Solentia and Quanzar since the time of the Eliasite evangelical re-awakening, a sign that Romula intends to return to having a voice in the future of the Church.

The initiative, however, is certainly a challenge full of opportunities and responsibilities: if on the one hand the Institute promises to offer precious resources to strengthen the charitable, educational and evangelical activities of the Aurorian Church, on the other hand there is no lack of caution. The centralized management of huge resources involves non-negligible risks, both in terms of transparency and balance between spirituality and administration.

Fidelia changes its name: the Region will be called "Appiana", a tribute to the Imperial House
The renaming act was approved by a large majority while Cisavugli is also preparing to become Silicia and launch the first regional statute of the country

Palace of the Region of Fidelia, now Appiana, in Romula
.
April 5653

ROMULA – The Regional Council of Fidelia voted in favor of the proposal to officially rename the Region to Appiana, in homage to the Imperial House of Istalia, the Appiano De Borromei, and to its current reigning cadet line, the Appiano-Solari. With this decision, the Region chooses to permanently link its identity to the centuries-old family from which Emperor Alessandro V descends and which has deep roots in the Fidelian territory.

The initiative has its origins in the past: the proposal, in fact, was presented for the first time 32 years ago by Carlo Ricciardi, regional councilor at the time, member of the first legislature of the National Congress and veteran of the Great Patriotic War of Liberation, during which he fought in the Resistance under the command of the then young Alessandro, not yet crown prince, now Emperor, before serving in the reconstituted Imperial Army. Ricciardi intended, even then, to pay homage to the restored dynasty, which had led the country to liberation and national reconstruction, intrinsically intertwining once again the destinies of the family and the country.

That proposal, which remained in the archives for years, was exhumed and relaunched in a profoundly changed political climate, while the debate on regional statutes intensified throughout the country, also fueling reflections on identity and culture. The choice to rename the region to Appiana was presented as an act of historical and cultural recognition, but also as an affirmed declaration of identity.

For centuries, the Imperial House maintained the center of its extra-institutional activities in Fidelia, now Appiana, administering lands, assets and economic interests that have resisted centuries of political turbulence. With the Third Restoration, this bond was strengthened: the region returned to being a true symbolic and strategic bulwark for the Monarchy and its institutions.

The political context made the parliamentary transition rather straightforward. After the regional elections, held concurrently with the national elections as required by current law, the National Liberal Party obtained over 40% of the seats, thus managing to push the initiative into its program and obtain the approval of the Council with a large majority.

The opponents came from the New Communists, the only Liberal Republican and the Greens: the first two for their ideological opposition to the Monarchy, while the Greens motivated their vote against with the criticisms, expressed several times in the past, towards the expansion of the large lithium mining industry in the heart of the region, a sector in which the Imperial House itself holds significant investments.

The new name of the region will officially come into force at the end of the ratification process with the state authorities. The regional institutions will be called "Appiana Regional Council" and "Appiana Regional Government", while an official ceremony in the presence of the Emperor and the Imperial Family is expected by the end of the year.

Meanwhile, also in the Cisavugli Region the restoration of the historical name of Silicia is approaching, now considered imminent, as well as the presentation of its regional statute, which according to forecasts will be approved without obstacles. Determined to be the first Region of Istalia to equip itself with a new autonomous statute, Cisavugli aims to take this step under the name of Silicia, thus marking a double turning point on the institutional and identity level there too.

Public participations and liberalization: the government seeks a balance between industrial strategy and openness to the market
The majority leadership finds a synthesis between liberal, statist and more pragmatic demands. CDP at the center of the new architecture of the public economic sector

Meeting of the Imperial State Council
.
October 5654

ROMULA - After months of discussion within the coalition, the second Giunio government is ready to present to the Congress a detailed bill on liberalization and on the governance of publicly-owned companies. The objective is clear: to define in a stable and transparent way the role of the State in the economy, distinguishing precisely the areas in which public intervention is indispensable from those in which it can, and perhaps must, retreat to make room for the market.

According to what emerged from the documents circulated in the latest coalition meetings, the text of the proposal aims to introduce a new organic law on public participations, based on three main axes.

Defense of the national interest: the State remains in strategic sectors
The first principle establishes that the State will maintain a direct and qualified presence in all sectors considered strategic for the national interest: energy, systemically important transport, defense, telecommunications and sensitive technologies. It is not necessarily a matter of holding the majority of the capital, but of maintaining an effective capacity to influence corporate policies, including through tools such as golden shares, presence on boards of directors, and stability pacts between shareholders.

A line that satisfies the National Liberal Party, which has forcefully defended the need to guarantee the country industrial and technological autonomy, without sacrificing efficiency and market freedom.

Non-strategic sectors: space for private investments, with clear rules
A different story for public companies active in non-strategic sectors, such as some sectors of services, logistics and ordinary industrial activities. In these areas, the bill provides for the launch of a series of broad liberalizations sector by sector and opening to the market of private actors and therefore the possibility of opening minority shares to private capital in public companies, also through partial placements on the market, without however compromising the public mission of the companies.

The Hosian Democratic Union has set as a condition that such openings be accompanied by employment guarantees and tools for the protection of work. A condition accepted by the Liberal Democrats and Liberal Republicans, who in turn have asked to review the system of incentives and tax exemptions for these companies, so that they do not alter competition in the market.

CDP at the center of public shareholdings management
Finally, a key element of the project is the strengthening of the Deposits and Consignements Fund (CDP), which will be recognized by law as the central body for the management, coordination and development of public shareholdings. The CDP will act as the strategic safe of the State, with strengthened powers of industrial direction and operational tools to invest also in private companies, provided that they are in line with national development objectives.

According to the text being drafted, the CDP will be able to:
  • intervene with qualified minority shares in private companies with high potential;
  • coordinate the industrial policies of the participating companies;
  • act as a single interlocutor for investors and financial entities interested in public-private partnership projects.

On the other side of the political spectrum, the Party of New Communists denounces a hypocritical plan that paves the way for the sell-off of public assets to large private concentrations, especially in non-strategic sectors. The party has also criticized the possibility granted to CDP to intervene in private companies, defining it as a new channel for the transfer of public money to industrial groups friendly to the government.

The position of the Socialist Democrats and the Movement of Greens is also critical, which have highlighted the absence of a real integrated industrial vision and a plan for the full valorization of workers in public companies. According to the PSD leadership, the reform is too unbalanced on financial leverage and risks neglecting the social dimension of public enterprises, which should be first and foremost tools for territorial cohesion and equity.

Despite the controversy, the numbers in the Council of State will ensure a relatively smooth parliamentary path, also thanks to the solidity of the majority.

Civil rights: framework law on civil unions, against discrimination and on abortion approved
The government led by Giunio finds an agreement on the reform of civil rights: more protections for homosexual couples, limited openings on adoptions and gender identity. Little improvements on the abortion
[Image: 8zhNwpZl.jpeg]
.
February 5655 (OOC: Backdated)

ROMULA - The center-right government led by Valeriano Giunio approved today, with the compact support of the parliamentary majority, a reform that has been awaited for years: a framework law that reorganizes the civil rights system in Istalia and introduces a series of openings on homosexual unions, adoptions and equal treatment. The results regarding abortion are more modest. The law, the result of a delicate political compromise that takes months to be reached, marks a turning point in the light of the pressure from civil society, which in recent years has pushed with ever greater force for an update of protections.

The law introduces “equal civil unions”, a new legal institution accessible to all couples, without distinctions of sexual orientation, which recognizes full property, welfare and inheritance rights, while maintaining a distinction from marriage, on which the UOD veto was categorical.

Another central point is the opening to stepchild adoption: unmarried couples, including homosexual ones, will be able to apply to adopt the biological child of their partner, provided that the cohabitation has lasted for at least five years and that there is a positive evaluation by the juvenile court. External adoption by homosexual couples remains excluded, for now.

In the field of anti-discrimination protection, the reform extends the rules already in force in the public sectors to the private sector, introducing a "National Guarantor for Equal Treatment" with monitoring and reporting functions. There are also changes for transgender people, who will be able to access a gender identity register for the use of names and perceived genders in secondary documents, such as university cards and school badges, without however changing their official civil status.

About the military, the old “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy disappears from the Armed Forces: openly homosexual soldiers will now be able to serve openly, while the ban on transgender people remains in force, with the government’s commitment to a future “technical-medical evaluation”.

Finally, the package of reforms also includes an intervention on the issue of abortion, which required a long mediation process between the allies. The new regulation focuses exclusively on cases related to the protection of the health and safety of the mother, confirming access to voluntary termination of pregnancy in the presence of serious physical or psychological risks, serious malformations of the fetus or proven traumatic consequences, such as in the case of sexual violence.

This last point generated strong tensions in the majority, with the UOD initially opposed to any explicit opening on the matter. Only after intense political discussions, and with the guarantee of medical and non-ideological language, did the party accept a text that describes termination as an exceptional act of a health nature and not as a subjective right. The measure also establishes a Fund for the protection of vulnerable maternity, designed to financially support women in difficulty, and strengthens public counseling centers with non-binding listening and orientation paths. Therefore, full guarantees of conscientious objection are accorded, but with the obligation for each facility to guarantee at least one operational team capable of providing the service in cases of law.

Minister Secretary of State Valeriano Giunio, leader of the PNL, forcefully defended the reform, claiming its historic significance and coherence with the liberal orientation of his executive:

Quote:Istalia is not immobile. We cannot continue to govern thinking that society has remained stuck forthy years ago. This government has the duty to provide concrete answers, not ideological dogmas.

Informal sources from within, speak of a Valeriano Giunio who has underlined, in a firm tone, as he had done since the beginning of his second mandate, that those who have lost consensus cannot continue to veto everything but accept the compromise and that in general no ally would have been able to block the reform process on an ideological basis, neither on the economic front nor on that of civil rights.

The reference is to the strong electoral decline suffered by UOD in the last elections, which has reduced its negotiating weight within the coalition. Nonetheless, UOD positions about the abortion have been generally accepted.

In fact, no polemical declaration or open dissociation has come from the Hosian Democratic Union. The party, despite being the most reluctant to introduce the reform, has chosen an institutional line, focusing on what it has managed to contain and safeguard, particularly satisfied for what provided for the abortion.

The Group Leader at the UOD Congress, Cesare Bresciani, spoke of:

Quote:A difficult but necessary mediation, which avoided ideological drifts and allowed us to defend the fundamental values of family identity and religious freedom. We worked responsibly to ensure that the founding principles of the family and the person remained protected. Particular care was taken to preserve the sanctity of life, especially in the most delicate areas such as the protection of motherhood and the regulation of abortion, where the final provisions reaffirm the exceptional and non-discretionary nature of any intervention. The final text reflects a balance that respects the sensitivity of many citizens, safeguarding the identity of the family institution and ensuring that each opening occurs in a clear and orderly framework.

The party emphasizes how the presence of safeguard clauses for religious institutions and the absence of symbolic impositions on the scholastic and cultural level constitute a fundamental barrier that made the favorable vote possible.

Satisfaction from Democracy & Freedom, which defined the reform as “a courageous and mature step towards a more just and inclusive society”. The group leader in the Congress, Beniamino Lanza, added, however, that “much remains to be done”, referring to the absence of equal marriage, the still rigid system of legal gender recognition and the provisions about the abortion.

The PRL, for its part, defined the text as balanced and sensible, underlining the importance of not transforming modernization into a cultural clash.

The parliamentary debate that accompanied the approval of the reform was also heated among the opposition benches, where there was no shortage of criticism, albeit with different accents.

The Democratic Socialist Party, the main opposition force, welcomed the law with a critical assessment:

Quote:The reform certainly represents a step forward, but it is a timid, partial and largely cosmetic step. If the intent was to mark a historic turning point, then this government has missed the target and on the abortion, well... the reform essentially preserves the stigma and reduces the issue to a clinical emergency: self-determination remains a taboo. Equality is not done halfway.

The New Communists, among the most radical in defending LGBT+ rights, have branded the reform as a “second-rate law”, accusing the majority of having given birth to a “bourgeois and hypocritical” compromise that maintains discrimination under false pretenses:

Quote:This law is a farce! It doesn't guarantee equal dignity to either rainbow families or trans people. Not recognizing marriage, denying full adoptions and pretending that a social name is enough is pure circular reasoning. But the veritable shame is what the law provides for the abortion, which remains under moral and medical protection, with the women still treated as incapable of deciding: pure state hypocrisy!

The Green Movement's assessment was more positive, however, and while not giving up criticism, it underlined the political importance of the result:

Quote:It is a first step, and like every first step it must be recognized. This law finally breaks the institutional silence on issues that have been ignored for too long. It is not enough, but it is something. Now we must move forward. About the Abortion, it's really a cautious step, a missed opportunity, but at least a step backwards is avoided: the recognition of the traumatic consequences is important. Now, we, as community, must not only work to fight stigma and prejudice, but also work against the traditional gender model and educate our children towards a culture of respect.

With the approval of this law, Istalia partially aligns itself with the standards of many other advanced countries on the civil rights front. It is not yet a revolution, but a pragmatic turning point, modeled on the political reality of the coalition and on the need not to lose social consensus. The center-right, under the leadership of Giunio, thus demonstrates that a reformist vision is not the exclusive prerogative of the left, provided that it knows how to mediate between principles and realism.

Ajace unveils the AF-52 "Tuono": the next Istalian air superiority fighter
The prototype of the stealth air superiority fighter has been officially presented, but the speed of development raises questions and leads to an investigation by the Public Prosecutor's Office
[Image: RwinIQXl.png]

January 5656

TORRE D'O SULENTO - The PAF-52, the final prototype of Ajace Aeronautics' new air superiority fighter, was presented yesterday at the "Tonio Ceccarelli" Air Force Base in Torre d'O Sulento. Its operational designation will be the AF-52 "Tuono", and according to the Ministry of Defense, it represents "a new generation of Istalian air superiority, interoperable and adaptable, ready for future scenarios."

The aircraft is a multirole, stealth, twin-engine, all-weather fighter, designed with an advanced carbon and polymer composite structure and a fuselage optimized for reduced radar signature. It is equipped with internal weapons bays and will be capable of supercruise, meaning it can fly at supersonic speeds without afterburners.

One of the most innovative elements concerns its integrated computational systems: the AF-52 will be able to execute missions autonomously, assign tasks to UAVs, and coordinate with other air, ground, and naval assets, as well as with air defense systems. ISR&T (Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance & Targeting) capabilities will be enhanced by a distributed architecture across allied platforms, reducing the cognitive load on pilots.

Electronic warfare systems will also be crucial, including wide-spectrum monitoring, directional countermeasures, and advanced SAR modes such as ISAR, dot-SAR, and strip-SAR. The electro-optical suite will provide global day/night vision and an IR missile warning system, enabling passive situational awareness and targeting capabilities even in high-threat environments.

A technological marvel, the result of astonishingly rapid development: Ajace completed two prototypes, the last of which, as mentioned, is the final production model, in a timeframe that has baffled experts and observers. The company explained that development, begun shortly after the publication of the first Defense White Paper, had reached such an advanced stage, even though the project was formally shelved for budgetary reasons, that even a first prototype was developed, though it only completed three test flights. Despite the explanations, the timing still raises some eyebrows.

According to some journalistic investigations, Ajace never actually stopped development of the fighter. Technical collaborations, such as that with AUDISS-Leonardi for the engine, have apparently never stopped. The suspicion is that the company was counting from the beginning on the project being revived, strengthened by constant pressure from Air Force leaders, which intensified after the less than stellar results at the international Afterburn 4 exercise in Lodamun.

The Milona Public Prosecutor's Office has now intervened in the matter, opening a file that has already been forwarded to the Defense Prosecutor's Office for information and cooperation. The investigation aims to clarify whether there have been violations of regulations regarding military procurement and the use of public funds. Ajace Aeronautics and the Air Force General Staff have expressed their full willingness to cooperate with the prosecution, emphasizing that there has been no wrongdoing.

Regarding the entry into service of the new aircraft, the Ministry of Defense estimates it can begin series production within three years, thanks to the advanced stage of the program and the funds already allocated. If all goes according to plan, the AF-52 "Tuono" could take to the skies over Istalia before the end of the decade, becoming the symbol of a new era for national air defense.

Giunio passes income tax reform: fewer brackets, greater simplicity
The center-right reaches an agreement: from the old numerous brackets and hyper-progressive tax system to fewer and lower rates that are less penalizing for the middle class while maintaining a solidarity contribution for the wealthiest
[Image: EC6gaaxl.jpeg]
.
July 5656

ROMULA - After months of internal coalition negotiations, the second Giunio government approved in the Council of State the bill for the reform of the personal income tax (IRP), one of the center-right's flagship measures. The stated goal is to simplify the tax system, making it more fair, competitive, and conducive to growth.

Until now, the Istalian IRP was structured as a highly progressive system, with numerous brackets and highly progressive rates reaching up to 75% for the highest incomes. A structure that, according to the reform's proponents, penalized individual initiative, incentivized tax evasion, and made the system difficult to interpret for both taxpayers and businesses.

The road to an agreement was not easy. Democracy & Freedom, the coalition's main liberal party, had always supported a flat 20% tax rate, accompanied by deductions for lower incomes, while the Liberal Republican Party advocated a drastic simplification to three tax brackets (15%, 25%, and 35%) and the elimination of all deductions. On the other hand, the Hosian Democratic Union and the more progressive fringes of the National Liberal Party opposed solutions they deemed too biased in favor of high incomes, demanding that the system remain progressive and capable of guaranteeing adequate revenue for public services.

The final result has been widely described as a balanced and realistic compromise: it cuts the complexity of the past, while maintaining the principle of progressivity. And an additional contribution is only required from those with very high incomes, at a time when the Istalian economy is experiencing sustained growth and unemployment levels are at historic lows.

The new scheme simplifies the tax by increasing the number of brackets to five, with clearer and more uniform rates. Here is the proposed new structure:
  • Income up to 15,000 lira:       12%
  • From 15,001 to 35,000 lira:    22%
  • From 35,001 to 60,000 lira:    30%
  • From 60,001 to 120,000 lira:  38%
  • Above 120,000 lira:               45%

Alongside the ordinary reform, the government has introduced an extraordinary solidarity contribution: an additional 10% rate applied to the portion of income exceeding 300,000 lira per year. This way, the effective tax rate for that bracket reaches 55%, but only for the portion of income exceeding the threshold, without altering the simplified progressive system.

Fixed and simplified tax deductions for lower incomes are also introduced, while many bonuses and specific deductions are eliminated, replaced by a system of standard deductions for children, rent, and healthcare expenses.

Finance Minister Egidio Marconi, chosen at the beginning of Giunio's second term from the ranks of D&L but approved by UOD and the progressive wing of PNL for his more moderate positions, stated:

Quote:This reform is not a revolution, but it is a decisive step towards a simpler, more transparent, and more labor- and investment-friendly tax system.

According to the Finance Minister, the reform will have three main effects: it will stimulate consumption and private investment, increase tax compliance thanks to a more transparent system, and ease the bureaucratic burden for families and businesses.

Business associations and economic circles have welcomed the reform, emphasizing how the new structure can enhance the country's attractiveness and increase the disposable income of the middle class.

The left-wing opposition immediately raised its voice against the reform. The Democratic Socialist Party, the Party of New Communists, and the Greens' Movement issued a harsh joint statement, accusing the Junio government of wanting to dismantle the welfare state and reward the richest at the expense of the community.

Quote:This tax measure is yet another favor done to the economic elite. It reduces tax rates for medium- and high-income earners, abandons true progressivity, and forgoes funding for schools, healthcare, and public services. The so-called solidarity contribution is a fig leaf.

The three parties also denounce the lack of measures to combat poverty and challenge the idea that lower taxes would automatically lead to greater compliance and economic growth.

Quote:Under the guise of simplification, one of the fundamental instruments of social justice is being undermined. The center-right is choosing to side with those who have more.

The Red-Green front finally announced a major national demonstration, calling on citizens, unions, and civic movements to take to the streets to defend tax progressivity and the right to a fair and efficient public tax system.

The Finance Minister, however, retorted that increased tax revenues due to economic growth and greater compliance should offset the reduction in marginal tax rates.

The bill will now be considered by Congress, where the majority's numbers will ensure its approval by the spring. The new IRP would take effect starting next fiscal year.

General strike against tax reform: unions unite in the streets
Unprecedented mobilization of CISU, UGL, and the Miners' Union respond to the opposition's call: "A reform that punishes workers", but the strike also agitates the majority
[Image: bcnClskl.png]
.
September 5656

ROMULA - For the first time in many years, the Istalian trade unions are firmly united. The Istalian Confederation of United Trade Unions (CISU), the General Labor Union (UGL), and the National Mining Sector Union (SNSM) have jointly announced a general strike in response to the income tax reform approved by the Giunio government. The reform has been met with strong hostility by the unions, who consider it a severe blow to the working classes and those on low- and middle-income levels.

Marcella Bigazzi, General Secretary of the CISU, founded under the Socialist Republic and still very close to the positions of the New Communists and the Democratic Socialists, told the press:

Quote:We are told it's a simplification, but it's just an elegant way to ease the tax burden on the richest. Those who work in factories, mines, construction sites, and workshops continue to pay the price of free-market reforms.

The strike announcement, which will be accompanied by demonstrations in all of the country's major industrial cities, comes just days after the joint statement from the parliamentary opposition forces. Responding to the call from the Democratic Socialist Party, the New Communist Party, and the Green Movement, the three main unions, two long-standing and one emerging, have mobilized with speed and determination.

The National Mining Sector Union, founded just a few years ago, has quickly become a major player in the Istalian labor landscape, in parallel with the expansion of the mining and manufacturing industries. Over the past ten years, Istalian's productive fabric has seen a renewed focus on industrial sectors, with the full recovery of the automotive, technology, and heavy machinery industries. In this new scenario, the number of blue-collar and technical workers has grown significantly, giving new impetus and weight to union representatives.

Fiorenzo Malaspina, spokesperson for the SNSM, explained the union's recent growth as follows:

Quote:Liberalizations, labor reform, the reduction of protections: all of this has pushed workers to rely on us again. Today, unions are no longer a relic of the past, but a concrete response to an increasingly tough market.

The general strike, however, is shaking up not only the streets, but also the political balance. The UGL, the main non-left-wing union in Istalia, born after the Third Restoration, has openly opposed the reform, highlighting growing rifts even within the majority. Historically close to centrist and moderately reformist positions, the UGL was founded after the Restoration at the instigation of members of the Hosian Democratic Union, who now sit on the government benches.

Many of these members have expressed concern or disagreement with the tax reform, emphasizing the risk of alienating workers and fostering an unbalanced economic model. The UOD itself, despite having accepted the compromise in the bill and its leadership declaring it a victory for moderate positions, is internally divided, and some of its deputies, faced with strong street protests, have hinted that they may not vote on the final bill unless corrective amendments are accepted.

A deputy of UOD, declared to the press:

Quote:Those who contributed to the founding of the UGL cannot ignore the alarm coming from the labor market. This reform risks being very costly, even politically. We cannot forget solidarity and categories' cooperation which are at the base of our social and political ideal.

Rumor has it that Valeriano Giunio is very upset by this situation, which sees the UOD leadership distant from many of its members, accusing them of being unable to keep their members in line. This criticism has exacerbated the more moderate positions within UOD, where opposition to the current leadership is growing, accused of being compliant and subservient to the positions of the other governing parties.

Therefore, the general strike, called for next week, could mark a turning point in the relationship between unions and the government, but also between the internal forces of the majority. After years in which unionism seemed to have lost its grip on political debate, the numerical and organizational growth of unionized workers, especially in industrial sectors, has brought the confederations back to the center of social conflict.

An analyst from the Independent Center for Labor Policy Studies, a nonprofit organization comprised of independent experts and analysts, told the press:

Quote:It's the direct consequence of center-right policies. Fewer protections, more precarious contracts, less progressive taxation: unions are becoming stronger again because workers feel the need for them again.

In the coming years, Istalian governments will likely have to contend with a reborn social force, more united, more organized, and determined to reclaim a central role in economic and social bargaining. This is a reality that the Junio government, now more than ever, cannot ignore.

Financial shock in Kundrati, Istalia withstands the shock
CAEC activated, special funds ready to support businesses, while the crash accelerates the economic reorientation towards Luthori and Giunio's consensus rebounds
[Image: njLGuJyl.png]
.
January 5657

ROMULA - The crisis that erupted in the Kundrati financial markets has triggered a chain of global reactions, with impacts varying in severity depending on the degree of exposure of the various countries. In Istalia, while recording significant effects on some companies and financial groups with interests in the region, the situation currently appears under control. The national economic system, strengthened by a long tradition of diversification and well-distributed investments globally, shows solid resilience.

Historically less exposed to the Kundrati market than other countries, Istalia has focused its economic and commercial attention in recent decades primarily on Seleya, Majatra, and Dovani. This has allowed the impact of the Kundrati crisis on the national economy to be contained. However, several companies operating in sectors such as logistics, infrastructure, and finance are facing complications related to the instability and uncertainty that have arisen in the country.

The government has responded promptly. Deposit and Consignement Fund (CDP), through its operational arm for the protection of foreign investments, the Credit Export Insurance Fund (CAEC), has already taken action. CAEC officials are working to monitor the situation and provide support to affected companies, particularly through insurance and financial instruments to mitigate the risk of losses on foreign contracts.

Sources from the Ministry of Finance confirm that the creation of a special fund to further strengthen the CAEC's action is being finalized. In addition to the CDP, the Istalian Strategic Investment Fund and the National Agency for Management and Amortization of Debt will participate in this fund, in a joint operation aimed at supporting the stability of the economic system and safeguarding the national interest.

According to analysts, the solidity of Istalia's economic structure, combined with the existence of sophisticated and readily mobilizable intervention tools, is what is allowing the country to effectively address the crisis. The reforms introduced over the years, many of which were promoted by the June governments, have helped strengthen the financial architecture and the state system's response capacity.

Finance Minister Bruno Cantalamessa (D&L), speaking to the press, stated:

Quote:Compared to the Amudin crisis of a few years ago, today we can count on much more sophisticated tools and a much more responsive administration. The crisis will be absorbed with limited damage.

One of the indirect but potentially most significant effects concerns the evolution of Istalia's investment strategy in Artania. The collapse in Kundrati could accelerate the reorientation toward Luthori, which has long been the subject of negotiations for a wide-ranging economic and trade agreement that could materialize shortly following the announcement of Luthori's state visit to Romula.

Among the companies at the forefront of this process is ICM Terra Terminals, currently engaged in the construction of a hub in Kundrati. According to sources close to the company, the possibility of relocating or duplicating the project in Luthori is now on the table: the goal is to create a continental logistics hub that could become the main hub for the company's Artanian operations.

On the political level, effective crisis management is also resulting in a return to support for Prime Minister Valeriano Giunio. After two years of declining approval ratings, marked by growing unrest among workers and young people and some difficulties in maintaining the majority, recent polls have recorded a significant rebound in popularity.

Public opinion appears to favor the stability offered by the government and the perceived reliability it is demonstrating in the face of international turbulence. "Another well-blocked blow", headlines Castell 'e Sciorenza's "Il Feranese", while "Giunio passes a key exams" headlines Pontelasa's "L'Eco Nazionale", summarizing the mood of many observers.

The crisis in Kundrati represents a global challenge, but for Istalia it seems destined to remain a manageable obstacle, rather than a watershed moment. The Istalian economic system remains flexible, multilateral, and well-equipped. Attention now shifts to redefining economic priorities in Artania, where the future could increasingly speak the language of partnership with Luthori.

ROMULA - A long-awaited visit has now finally materialized. Emperor Richard II and Empress Valeria of Luthori have arrived in Istalia for a state visit of the highest geopolitical profile. Organized by the two Imperial Houses and their respective Foreign Ministries, the visit was described by the Luthorian embassy as a moment of rebirth of the friendship that Luthori and Istalia once shared.

The journey of the imperial couple, accompanied by their family, began with their arrival at Torre Torrida military airport, where they were welcomed by Imperial Grand Prince Tommaso and Imperial Grand Princess Melissa, heirs to the Istalian throne. From there, the procession headed to Romula, where the Luthorian Emperors were officially received by His Imperial Majesty Alessandro V and Empress Claudia, in an atmosphere of great cordiality and solemnity.

The first day concluded with a state banquet in the halls of Quattroregni Palace, during which both sovereigns gave speeches that highlighted the affinities between the two countries. Emperor Richard II emphasized "the similarities between the Luthorian and Istalian peoples, particularly in the role of constitutional monarchies and the common adherence to democratic values", also recalling their profound shared cultural heritage.

The second day of the visit was packed with institutional meetings and symbolic events. The Emperor and Empress of Luthori visited some of Romula's most important historical and religious sites: the Amphitheater of Alsemet the Great, the Patriarchal Archbasilica of Saint Matthias Baptist at the Walls, seat of the High Hierarchy of Auroranism in Istalia, where Emperor Richard met with the Patriarch of Istalia, Solentia, and Quanzar, a sign of Luthori's particular attention to religious dialogue.

Cultural stops were also included, including visits to the National Museum of Istalian History and the National Gallery of Modern Art, demonstrating the imperial couple's interest in Istalian heritage. Official escorts during these meetings, whether by the Istalian imperial couple or the heirs to the throne, were handled discreetly by the Istalian Imperial House, in accordance with the protocol agreed upon with Luthori.

In the afternoon, Empresses Claudia and Valeria visited an association dedicated to supporting women victims of violence, abuse, or trauma. This initiative is part of the ongoing commitment of Empress Valeria, honorary president of the Luthorian Women's Organization, to the protection of women in her domains, particularly in Luthori and Mordusia. This commitment is also shared by the women of the Istalian Imperial House, which is the patron of some of the major Istalian associations fighting against the abuse of women and for equal rights. In parallel, Emperors Alessandro and Richard met with representatives of veterans' organizations, honoring in particular the veterans of the War of Unification and visiting a memorial dedicated to the fallen.

But beyond the renewed friendship and the symbolism of the visit, the Luthorian sovereigns' journey to Istalia also marks the formal beginning of negotiations for a bilateral economic and trade agreement. This has been discussed for years in the chancelleries of Romula and Fort William, but now, with the solemn backdrop of the imperial visit, the operational phase finally begins.

Such an agreement would represent a historic achievement for both nations, among the most developed and influential globally. The axis between Istalia and Luthori could become a strategic hub for economic relations between Majatra and Artania, strengthening ties between the global North and South and reinforcing the vision of an increasingly global, polycentric, and interconnected Istalian economy.

After years of focusing on Seleya, Dovani, and Majatra, Luthori now appears as a new key partner in Artania, destined to assume an increasingly central role in Istalian economic and diplomatic projection strategies. An example of this is the possible duplication in Luthori of one of ICM Terra Terminals' major logistics hubs, previously planned for Kundrati, a country currently reeling from a profound financial crisis.

The imperial visit will conclude with a final private meeting at the Luthorian embassy, where the Emperor and Empress will personally greet all diplomatic personnel before departing for Luthori.

In a world shaken by tensions and uncertainties, the meeting between two of the oldest constitutional imperial monarchies appeared as a powerful signal of stability and cooperation, but also the beginning of a new phase in bilateral relations, destined to leave its mark both in the palaces and in the markets.

AF-52 "Tuono" investigation closed, but project continues to be controversial
The Milona Prosecutor's Office finds no irregularities, but between explosive costs, political controversy, and production delays, the fighter's future remains turbulent

Month 5657

MILONA - The Milona Prosecutor's Office has officially closed the investigation opened in recent months into the AF-52 "Tuono" program, the new air superiority fighter developed by Ajace Aeronautics. Investigators found no irregularities in the conduct of Ajace Aeronautics or the Air Force General Staff, and have therefore ordered the closure of the file opened in recent months.

But while the justice system has closed the investigation, the controversy surrounding the project has not subsided. Indeed, political and technical concerns are multiplying: research and development costs continue to soar, while estimates for series production make the AF-52 one of the most expensive fighters ever designed in Istalia. And already, internal Air Force sources are leaking that maintenance costs will also be significantly higher than those of other models currently in service.

The criticism, however, isn't just coming from the opposition. Even within the majority led by Valeriano Giunio's National Liberal Party, there is growing discontent. Concerned murmurs and irritated comments are being raised by government partners, who are beginning to call the project a "billion-lire black hole". Some Allied forces parliamentarians are openly speaking of an uncontrolled drift that risks draining resources from key areas of public spending.

The management of the relationship between Ajax and the State is also the subject of harsh bipartisan criticism: according to several observers, the company has passed on to the public not only the costs of developing the fighter, but also those related to the construction and modernization of industrial facilities. The company denied this accusation by pointing to clauses contained in the preliminary contracts signed during the Monaldi governments, at the height of post-war reconstruction. These agreements explicitly stipulated that the state would also cover production-related costs, with a view to a strategic industrial revitalization. This justification is now considered anachronistic by many in Parliament, and the opposition is also attacking the government's smaller partners, guilty of having given carte blanche to the PNL and Giunio and of having committed such an "oversight".

The situation was further complicated by the news that AUDISS-Leonardi Turbomotors, responsible for producing engines for the AF-52, announced that there could be delays in supplies. This is a further blow to a program that, despite its initial ambitions and judicial acquittal, continues to be the subject of intense controversy and growing doubts about its actual strategic value compared to its costs.

While the Ministry of Defense continues to defend the project's strategic importance and confirms the goal of its full operational readiness by the end of the decade, it remains to be seen whether the political storm and industrial uncertainties will ultimately redefine the timelines, costs, and ambitions of what was meant to symbolize the new technological face of the Istalian armed forces.
