Why analgetics "made in Zardugal" might flood the international market soon




After scientists of the Institute of Botanical Genetics published their results about the genetic modification of Papaver bracteatum, both chemical industry and government economists saw an opportunity. EC-ELECTIONS THREE COMMISSARS REJECTED FOR ANOTHER TERM, DIARMAIDO REMAINS DIRECTOR

While Diarmaido was still able to secure just enough votes it seems as if he will have to work under difficult conditions in the future. In a political maneuver some even call an internal coup the former Commissars of Foreign Affairs, of Trade and Industry and of Defense were kicked out of office although their re-election was expected to be a formality according to previous statements by the Executive Committee. In this article we will try to explore the reasons for this situation and to give an overview on the unexpected new members of the EC.

Over the course of months it became clear that many members of the CK-LK are dissatisfied with Zardugals foreign policy. Critcism mainly revolved around conflicts between ideological beliefs and the pragmatic rather neutral foreign policy. Many wished for Zardugal to show its colors rather than abstaining from geopolitical questions and tolerating or even partaking in international power structures contrary to our nations ideological foundation. This point was especially made in speeches held at the last general assembly of the CK-LK but now it seems as though the members of the EC did not listen.

As a demonstration of power the Supreme Council elected the following "Triumvirate" to be part of the EC
Commissiariat of Defense: Augusto Kraĉo, retired general, during his time in office he was famous for complaints about insufficient funding and outdated equipment. Still he was an esteemed advisor on military matters during the last years and is known to be a co-operative colleague as long as his interests and concerns are taken into account
Commissariat of Foreign Affairs: Mario Gropo, laid off diplomat, prominently showed inadequate and aggressive behaviour during talks with Vanuku's officials a few years ago. Therefore he was deemed unfit for the job by the Supreme Council. It seems the members have changed their mind and even thought a promotion is in place. He is by far the most infamous recent addition to the EC
Commissariat of Trade and Industry: Prado Migdalo, former official at the Commissariat he is now in charge of. Most are not sure what to expect of him as, according to CK-LK insiders he is an opportunistic careerist.

PATRIARCH THEOPHRASTOS II. CONDEMNS UPCOMING LAW

In a statement released by the chancellery of the Patriarchate of Augusto Theophrastos II. mentions concerns about the planned criminalization of missionary work in Zardugal:

"The religious mission has always been and will always remain integral part of our religious identity. We see the Supreme Council's plans as a grave infringement of our civil rights and protest the enactment of this outrageaous law. I hereby appeal to every member of our church: Do not fear the intrigues of these agents of Satan! They cannot and will not stop our divine mission of spreading the faith! God bless you all."

Mere hours after the release of the statement the Commissar of Internal Affairs, Rubio Marlonido commented in a brief press release: 

While the currently debated legislative movements was primarily aimed obsure cults, which have been known to become more aggressive and ruthless in their recruitment practices over the course of the last years, I wish to clarify: No person or institution in Zardugal is above the law. My Commissariat will not hesitate to enforce a law once it is passed by the Supreme Council. This applies to his Holiness and the church as well as to any other religion or their leaders inside Zardugal

While economic growth stagnated in the mid 50s, investments in the development of GMO-crops have proven to result in a significant expansion not only of the agricultural sector but of domestic economy in general. This is due to the mobilization of household income previously needed to buy food. In synergy with improved payment of many workers due to them assuming ownership of businesses the resulting increase in buying power had a major impact on the GDP.

Agriculture
Food prices were subject to normal, mostly weather dependent fluctuations in the early 50s. In 5555 first genetically modified crops left the test phase and entered the market which lead to a slight decrease of overall food prices due to increased volumes of grain being harvested. With increasing variety of available GMO crops the food prices began to sink dramatically until October of 5558. The increased exports of agricultural goods initiated by the EC resulted in a quick stabilisation of food prices in order to protect producers.

The fraction of LDRE-conform agribusinesses through these measures is expected to reach around 40% and stagnate there until further action is taken.
Chemistry/Pharmaceuticals: With incentives created by the development of robust poppy species, EC's plans to reorganize the lion share of inefficient chemical industry into a pharmaceutical sector has proven to be successful. With the EC being the driving force behind this economic development it is not surprising that the new sector mainly consists of LDRE conform businesses already

ZARDIC TRADE NETWORK FARMAKON-Z COMMENCES BUSINESS


As a means of streamlining exports and investments concerning Zardic pharmaceutical manufacturers while also ensuring an ethically produced and affordable supply to Zardic citizens the "Farmacia Konglomerato Zardujo (FARMAKON-Z)" was established. Any international matters related to Zardugal's pharma industry will be handled by the organisation. FARMAKON-Z will be directed by delegates of the labour councils of partaking companies wishing to enter the international market as well as delegates of CK-LK and will remain in close contact with the Commissariat of Trade and Industry. Commissar Migdalo supported the initiave and described FARMAKON-Z as "A great path to generate wealth for many citizens of Zardugal and to develop our nation into a reputable trade partner, while ensuring the many get their fair share of the produced surplus value and never disregarding the fact that medication may never be treated like just any good"

In addition to ZARD-Algetic other businesses have already expressed interest in becoming a member. Most prominent examples are "Ĉelforĝejo" an academic trailblazer in the field of recombinant insulines and "Venkinfekton" a producer of antibiotics situated in Veneto.

Even after the LRPR was passed by the Supreme Council Patriarch Theophrastos II. continued to publicly encourage his followers to not forget about their duty of religious mission. With evidence being that clear the court of Augusto quickly decided to immediately dissolve the church and to issue arrest warrants against leading members of the church. Former members who had no functional role will of course not be prosecuted in any way. After an inspection of the Patriarkpalaco by the police it became clear that Theophrastos II. (born: Mateo Hieronimido) has left Zardugal without letting anyone know.

While most Augustan Hosians have accepted reality and plan a conclave to build a reformed, more moderate church, some of the most orthodox elements of Zardic Hosianism iniated a protest movement. Lead by Pastro Dominico, a preacher as charismatic as he is dogmatic, the movement "Dei Misio" continues to criticize the dissolution and demands the immediate abolishment of LRPR.

SUPREME COUNCIL PASSES NEW BUDGET, EXECUTIVE COMMITEE ANNOUNCES NAVAL MODERNIZATION PROGRAM

The SC accepted a movement to grant additional funds to the Commissariat of Defense by taking loans from the Central Bank of Zardugal. A sum of 17 Billion Spesmillo will be invested into a radical modernization of the ZDF. As the first step of this long term project Commissar Augusto Kraĉo announced the purchase of new equipment for the navy from Baltusia. This will be accompanied by investments into Zardic shipyards. Latter to be bolstered by funds from the Commissariat of Trade and Industry with the goal of revitalizing the Zardic civilian fleet as well. Past economic analyses have shown that Zardugal lacks in infrastructural capabilities to trade goods. The inability to transport larger volumes of exported goods is especially concerning for an economy that is headed towards increased reliance on very specialized industrial branches in the future. Many members of the SC also appreciated the EC's ideas out of patriotic and ideological motives considering Zardugal currently still being heavily dependant on the fleets of other, mostly capitalist nations even for trade missions headed towards socialist partners.

COMMISSAR GROPO RETURNS FROM STATE VISIT IN KUNDRATI



After spending three days in Kundrati meeting with representatives of state and economy Commissar of Foreign Affairs, Mario Gropo returned to the capital. He was accompanied by authorized negotiators of several other Commissariats and his colleague Hialmaro Ŝafto, Commissar of Science and Technology. Gropo presented the results of his visit in today's press conference:
 

The negotiations with my esteemed colleague President Åkerlund have turned out very successful. We agreed to an economic cooperation between our nations consisting in the expansion of FARMAKON-Z to Kundrati. Headquarters will be set up in Kasaema with an authorization to oversee all transactions made in Artania. Additionally FARMAKON-Z will construct manufacturing plants with a special department dedicated to the production of radiopharmaceutics. To ensure sustainable success of the enterprise the Commissariat of Science and Technology will establish an institute of pharmaceutical chemistry with three professorships financed by Zardugal. In exchange Kundrati will support research in the field of nuclear physics in Zardugal dedicated to a new nuclear power program and agreed to supply the necessary Uranium. This will secure a much needed source of electricity in the years to come.
