BREAKING NEWS: SDP grows lead, FKP takes from traditional right-wing.
October, 5627 (Backdated)

Dorvish citizens went to the polls in early October, 5627 in the culmination of election season. The Dorvish Social Democratic Party, which re-emerged in the October, 5620 election, remained strong and won 215 seats, growing their seats total by 21. State Chancellor Magnus Tausche's popularity has remained high and combined with an often nationalistic tone, the SDP has remained the largest party and grown their lead over the Hosian-Conservative party which lost 46 seats, for a total of 152 seats in the State Council. The rise of the Free Conservative Party, which took aim at the Hosian-Conservatives, the Dorvish Workers' Party and the Social Nationalist Party electoral base, won 80 seats in their first election. The Dorvish Workers' Party swung back, gaining 6 seats for a total of 22 seats and the Social Nationalist Party lost 18 seats, leaving them with 62 seats in the State Council. Two new independents were added to the State Council, bringing their seat total to 19 seats overall. Rumors have been abound that the SDP might shop a coalition government with their current coalition partner, the Social Nationalist Party but there have been rumors that the HKA might try for a broad coalition of right-wing parties with the DAP, the SNP and the FKA.

Dorvish announce enhanced naval deployments to Lievenian Sea and Mad Dog Ocean.
February, 5629

Vice State Chancellor Joachim von Rohr-Mauss commented that the recent tensions involving Davostag, Hutori, Kundrati and the re-introduction of Kalistan into Artanian affairs presented "...clear issues for the continent and further foreign interference for the continent." In recent years the Dorvish have stood alone and protectors of the Artanian continent as the continent has drifted into instability and lack of Pan-Artanian cooperation. The recent absences of Narikaton and Darnussia and Luthori have harmed the continents overall stability and the tensions in Kundrati have continued to rise. The Vice State Chancellor commented that while he was happy for the arrival of new governments in Davostag and Hutori, he did not want further issues in an already strained northern hemisphere that has lacked a clear leader. The Dorvish have been slow to assume that mantle of leadership, largely out of apathy for Pan-Artanian cooperation at home but have sought to grow new ties with northern neighbors Dolgava and Egelion.

The Dorvish government announced that they had announced a more permanent deployment of the Naval Protection Group "Lievenian Sea", and the deployment of Carrier Strike Group "Rohr-Mauss" to cover the area of the Lievenian Sea, the Unholy Sea and the Mad Dog Ocean. They will be supported by the Lievenian Sea Fleet from Navy Group Command "East". These enhanced deployments will provide greater stability to the region and provide support to international shipping and freedom of movement. The Dorvish government also deployed a High Seas Monitoring Squadron to cover the area, which will provide up to date monitoring and intelligence gathering in the region. Representatives from the Supreme General Staff have stated that they are concerned about the tensions in the region and hope that the deployments will provide some enhanced security to the region in the midst of upheaval.

Dorvik announces ONEC, high-speed rail cooperation with Egelion.
February, 5629

Dorvish State Chancellor Magnus Tausche announced that he would be forming the Organization of Northern Economic Cooperation (ONEC) focusing on the development of deeper trade and economic ties between nations in the northern hemisphere. The organization, which will be based out of Haldor temporarily, will seek to expand to nations that Dorvik considers to be "natural allies" and noted that the Foreign Office had reached out to the governments in Egelion, and Dolgava with the potential to expanding to Hutori should the new government in Benekial be friendly to Haldor again. The State Chancellor did not rule out expansion to others in the future but noted that the Dorvish have economic and cooperative trade agreements with both Egelion and Dolgava, making them natural to the first to join the new organization. The inaugural meeting will take place in Haldor, Greater Kordusia in July, 5629 to discuss the direction of the organization and its future.

The announcement comes at a time when the Dorvish government announced a new high-speed rail cooperative agreement with Egelion. The Dorvish, which have struggled to adopt high-speed rail outside of Haldor and its surrounding areas, have announced that they would be cooperating with the government in Egelion as well as their national rail carrier to develop programs aiming to expand high-speed rail across their respective countries. The Dorvish have long been producers of high-speed rail infrastructure and equipment but the governments past and present have made no formal moves to adopt it widescale across the country. Haldor and Vilnau to the east are connected via high-speed rail and within the past century the Dorvish have expanded high-speed rail to Schrudehofen and Kordaw to the north, largely due to their expansive ports. The cooperative agreement will take place over the course of the coming years and will focus on the exchange of ideas, organizational management as well as research and development with the Dorvish looking to provide the bulk of the "hard infrastructure" while working with Egelion to develop manufacturing within the country itself.

Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Hermann Schmadel is expected to meet with his Egelian counter-part to head the cooperative agreement.

Interior Ministry announces large-scale overhaul to Law on State Administration
July, 5629

Interior Minister Generaloberst (Police) Oskar Kiesel has weighed a large-scale reform to the organization of the state following a number of questions raised at the Committee of Provincial Executives (Dundorfian: Komitee der Provinzvorstände) which meets regularly with the Interior Minister and the Office of Government Administration and its leader, the General-Plenipotentiary for State Administration. Underneath the current system the nation is divided into 5 historical provinces: Greater Kordusia, Westmark, Miktar, Dorvan and Largonia underneath the proposed amendments to the Law on State Administration, these five regions would remain and be overseen by an Oberpräsident (Dundorfian: Head President) which would be the Ministry of the Interior's representative to the five wider regions of Dorvik. The new proposal would see the creation of several dozen new provinces across Dorvik, mostly focused on historical regions and polities within the nation, giving wider representation to the people of Dorvik. For instance, the area of southern Miktar which was formerly part of the Kingdom of Kruthia would be divided into Kruthia and West Kruthia, giving two new provinces and two new provincial administrations but expanding representative local government to the the portions of Miktar that are now district (kreise) level. The move is designed to better enhance local government and the focusing on the adoption of new policies that support local governance and implementing policy from State to Province to District level. The Interior Ministry will provide for their own parallels administration for matters related to the state.

These new provinces will continue to maintain a Provincial Diet (Dundorfian: Provinziallandtag) which will be elected at the same time as the State Council and the Provincial Diet's will elect their own Minister-Presidents. The Minister-Presidents of the new provinces will have powers and duties similar to that of the State Chancellor. The exact layout of the new provinces has not been finalized and will be finalized over the coming months and the current administration will remain in-place.

The late Crown Prince, Franz the Younger, born in September, 5556 passed in 5622 after a battle with cancer that ultimately won he was 66 years old and left behind his wife and five children, the eldest among them being Franz III who became Crown Prince and will now serve as Franz II. Dorvik and Hutori share first state visit, seal further northern cooperation.
February, 5630

Dorvish State Chancellor Magnus Tausche and Foreign Minister Fritz Curschmann welcomed the arrival of Hutorian Prime Minister Michael Kensington to Haldor at Rohr-Maus International Airport. The first state visit of a Hutorian official in several decades, the visit comes at a time when the Dorvish and Hutorians are navigating yet another crisis within the seas that seperate them. The arrival in Haldor, Greater Kordusia was met with the typical Dorvish welcome and the Dorvish did not mince words when they stated that despite tensions in the region, they would not hesitate to welcome back an "ancient ally" with open arms. The three took a trip from Rohr-Mauss International Airport where they stopped to visit a memorial dedicated to the long-standing friendship between the two nations and the soldiers from both Dorvik and Hutori who have sacrificed so much in spirit of cooperation between the two nations. The delegation then arrived at the State Chancellery where several working groups were formed and discussed a number of topics, most notably the formal re-joining of the Hutorian government into the Lievenian Sea Organization so that security cooperation between the two can begin forthwith.

The second working group was dedicated to Dorvish and Hutorian economic cooperation, the Dorvish seeking to re-capture their once considerable holdings in Hutori for oil and natural gas mining, representatives from NordOl and NordOl-Hutori were present as were representatives from the Dorvish Trade Commission. While the Dorvish, eager to recapture dominance in the energy field, discussed natural resources several discussions hinged on benefits for Dorvish and Hutorian companies to do business in each others countries without significant issue. Dorvish markets had already reacted to the new government in Benekial several months prior, the Dorvish consumers and investors seeking the return of a stable economy in the northern hemisphere closer to Dorvik then Egelion and Dolgava. The Dorvish Foreign Minister, who lead the trade delegation and talks in these working groups, noted that they had made significant progress and the Dorvish Trade Commissioner for Makon and Keris was going to be incredibly "busy" over these next few months with these talks.

The Dorvish pledged to restore the "Special Trading Partner" status with Hutori over the coming months as trade seeks to increase. The Dorvish Trade Commission which assigns the status with the approval of the Foreign Office and Ministry of Trade and Industry has assigned this status in recent years to Egelion and Dolgava, providing certain rights and privilege's when it comes to access trade and conducting business within Dorvik.

The Dorvish and Hutorians also created a working group dedicated to restoring military and security cooperation, notably in the field of intelligence sharing. Chief of the Supreme General Staff and Inspector-General of the Armed Forces, Generaloberst (Army) Rayk von Auspitz-Topol was present and noted that the details would be worked out over the coming months as the Hutorian Armed Forces came back into their own.

Dundorf and Dorvik agree to reopening joint air base in southern Dundorf.
November, 5650

Officials from the Foreign Defense Office of the Supreme General Staff confirmed that the Dorvish and Dundorfian governments have agreed to the reopening of a joint air base located in southern Dundorf. The joint air base will primarily be utilized as a joint training facility, notably in airborne operations and the Joint Airborne and Air Assault School (Dundorfian:  Gemeinsame Fallschirmjäger- und Luftangriffsschule) will be reopened. The air base will also serve as home to a contingent of Dorvish Air Force formations on a rotating basis to train with the Dundorfian Air Force; while not confirmed the Dorvish and Dundorfians will likely reopen their joint intelligence operations on the base.

Perhaps the most integral component of the joint base reopening is the school, which served as a vital component for training both Dundorfian and Dorvish Fallschirmjäger, or paratroopers, has remained active in Dorvik following the end of the joint base during the run-up to the Kirlawan conflict. The cadre's from the Dorvish end of the school noted that they were eager to begin training again with their Dundorfian counterparts. The Fallschirmjägeror paratroopers in both Dundorf and Dorvik share a close relationship and have trained together for centuries and the two have formed a bond that highlights the Pan-Dundorfian spirit as well as hopes of deeper Artanian cooperation. While the domestic situation in Dorvik seeks to stabilize, notably following several scandals in the dominant era of the Social Democratic Party of Dorvik, the ties between Dundorf and Dorvik will certainly push closer in the field of defense and the field of economic cooperation. Officials from Foreign Defense Office have also highlighted their desire to deepen military technical cooperation with Dundorf and hope that the reopening of the base will provide just that.

Haldor - After a chaotic day at the State Council the entire capital city of Haldor has been in lockdown, with security forces on every street corner and information scarce. This paper did report on the events that unfolded this morning. State Chancellor Siegfried Wolfhard-Engelbert was responding to questions from lawmakers on a proposed bill that would have cut defense spending and the budget the diplomatic office. The bill, oppossed by a majority of the population, would have saved the country billions in funding and allow the government to run a balanced budget for the first time in decades.

The bill was heavily being debated until, two hours into the debate, dozens of armed police stormed the state council building and proceeded to end the session, putting the Chancellor under arrest and preventing lawmakers from leaving the building. Simultaniously, across the city, state offices were stormed and the mayor of Haldor arrested at City Hall. Little info managed to get out of the capital afterwards, besides the news of a small standoff between police and groups of civilians. Silence has reigned supreme since then, as no one really knows that is happening.

Just moments ago, a short press release was issued originating from the Königspalast. In the release, King Franz II announces a takeover of government, citing the "anti-dorvish" sentiment reigning in Haldor and pledging to "restore dignity and strength to the dorvish people." Interestingly, the release also included a 15 page explanation on why the takeover was necessary and justifying the ending of democratic rule. The release does not specify steps for the future. We have spoken to countless civilians on the streets worried about what might happen but hopefull about the King and Kaiser's intentions.

All Dorvish people at this point agree that Dorvik has seen better days. With inflation at record highs, the military crumbling and economic stagnation and decline having lost the country its prominent status on the continent. Whether a absolute monarchy could be the answer remains to be seen. It is unclear as of now whether the King seeks to simply put the government out of power or seeks a total takeover. Information remains scarce.

Haldor - King and Kaiser Franz II was seen on national television for the first time since the "royal coup" a week ago. In a adress to the people, the monarch revealed the reasons for the coup and his plans for the future. The most notable part of the speech was the moment at which the King and Kaiser stated that he seeks "to lead by Egelian example" and "Push our country forwards." Egelion has long been known as a "enlightened monarchy" where the king has absolute control but has decided to rule by a feather's touch.

But despite these promises, the first few days of the new absolute monarchy of 98 year old Franz II has been marked by persecution and revenge. Former State Chancellor Siegfried Wolfhard-Engelbert has been indicted on charges of corruption and treachery. He is to be brought to a military trial at the Military Affairs Commission, with several high ranking civilian ministers also to face charges at a military trial. Subsequently the King has banned all political parties, dissolved the State Council and appointed a military government all by royal decree. The Dorvish Privy Council is now considered the primary decisionmaking body in the country, with the king at its head.

Joachim Grothmann, major-general in the Dorvish Army, has been appointed State Chancellor to lead the new military government. What is clear however is despite the appointment of a new government, the King and Kaiser has the ultimate say under this new system. He, as head of state, has announced that a comprehensive plan for the "revitalization of society, economy and diplomacy" is in the works, and that the old politics of "cautious maneavouring" is over. Despite the uncertainty prevailing, analysts seem to expect that the King and Kaiser will start a program of deficit spending and major reform and investment projects. Economists seem to believe this might worsen the economic situation in the country, with inflation already high. But despite these rumours, the new "royal government" is still shrouded in mystery, despite the King and Kaiser's speech to the people.

SDP loses mandate, HKA takes the reigns.
October, 5660 (Backdated)

For the first time in their recent political history, the Social Democratic Party of Dorvik is unlikely to be in government. State Chancellor Marco Hardt has conceded that the Social Democratic Party has failed to obtain a "commanding mandate" in the October, 5660 State Council elections, losing 94 seats and just taking a total of 178 seats total in the State Council. The leader of the Hosian-Conservative Alliance, which won a total of 152 seats, Andreas Knoerr, announced that after the officials results were reported from the Ministry of the Interior, they began wide-ranging coalition talks, notably with the Free Conservative Party which came in third place with 94 seats; it is likely that the historical Social Nationalist Party will provide support and be a junior coalition member if rumors are to be believed. The SNP came in fifth place with 48 seats, increasing their share but keeping them far from playing kingmakers in government. The leader of the Dorvish Workers' Party noted he would be supportive of a Hosian-Conservative Alliance lead government with Knoerr as the State Chancellor but would remain critical of the government should they fail to uphold their mandate. The Dorvish Workers' Party came in fourth with 63 seats; just ahead of the SNP; a large number of former independents joined mainstream political parties lowering the independent members in the State Council to just 15.

It is likely that the Hosian-Conservative Alliance will join with the Free Conservative Party and the Social Nationalist and form a majority government that will have a total of 294 seats shy of the 337 needed for a supermajority. His Majestic Highness, the King and Kaiser, Franz II, welcomed the Knoerr to form a government in his name and he believes firmly that the coalition agreement will take place in the coming days.
