Government promises security in wake of random attack.
February, 5646
Kafuri officials are promising enhanced security following the wake of a terror attack in central Pabeus' Ministry of Health and Social Services building that left 17 dead, mostly government workers. While the General Intelligence Directorate and Ministry of the Interior have denied claims that the attack is associated with the Ahmadi State in Majatra or Ahmadi State in Kafuristan, some doubt such claims by the GID and the Interior Ministry. There have been rumors that the weakened but still potent ASIM and ASIK have been battling with a newly formed group, the Pabean Ahmadi Front, allegedly backed by the banned Ahmadi Liberation Party commonly known as "Hatah". This comes weeks after the General Intelligence Directorate issued a regional alert to the newly formed "Ahmadi Intelligence Network" (SM: Shabakat al-Istikhbārāt al-Aḥmadīyah) which is believed to bring together several radical Ahmadi groups' intelligence apparatuses under one banner despite ideological and ethnic differences. While the GID does not believe that the "Shabishah" is as fearsome as some believe they are, it does have a growing influence on operations of various groups, ASIM/ASIK and Hatah included.

His Majesty, King Umar, announced Summit for the Ahmadi Cooperation Council in Kasraj for August.
June, 5663
His Majesty, King Umar, has called upon his Majatran brothers in Badara to attend a conference in Kasraj regarding the formal formation of the Ahmadi Cooperation Council (ACC). The concept, which has been suggested and lingered for nearly a century, might be the lasting legacy of a well-liked and modest ruler. The meeting will include Chief Minister Ashqar al-Nazar and Foreign Minister Ilyaas al-Haque both of whom are expected to retire in the coming September, 5667 election cycle. The formation of a formalized regional, potentially international organization dedicated to Ahmadi nations will be token to the lasting success of His Majesty and while diplomatic and economic agreements with Badara have steadily increased since the new government in Bier Qassem have taken over, His Majesty wishes for deeper more complex cooperation. The summit will be held in the first week of August, 5663 and Badara is likely to be the primary partner invited though other Ahmadi-majority nations wishing to attend would be welcomed according to a spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Umar, in the early 70s but in good health, had taken over a number of duties for his father and was the sole surviving member of his family. His brother Jalal, named after his father and grandfather had been killed by a drone strike in Pabeus by members of the "Ahmadi Intelligence Network" (SM: Shabakat al-Istikhbārāt al-Aḥmadīyah) or the "Shabishah" alongside his sister Masroora. His youngest brother, Bassam succumbed to an unknown illness that was widely speculated to be severe depression following the deaths of his brother and sister. Umar, who married Iffat el-Qazi, a fellow university student, have had a well documented and often cherished relationship and have given birth of several children, including the Crown Prince Tariq who was born in November, 5597 and is currently 66 and involved heavily in the day-to-day operations of the government and the royal household. Consultative Assembly establishes Commission for Public Housing.
August, 5675
Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Abdul Hakeem al-Akbari (SoK) announced that the Consultative Assembly had passed a series of laws restructuring public housing throughout Kafuristan. For the past several decades public housing has been handled by a myriad of agencies within the government, from the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport to the Ministry of Health and Social Services, to quasi-independent agencies. Underneath the new law the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport will centralize all public housing underneath the Commission for Public Housing and will establish the Housing Bank of Kafuristan which will be the financial instrument which will provide financing for the new era of public housing. Underneath the Commission for Public Housing, the new agency will organize on a Governorate level and will mandate a new standard for public housing including certain amenities that vary wildly across government-owned housing. While the focus on the new CPH will be providing new affordable housing for Kafuri citizens, the program will also look to develop new single and multiple home complexes for sale, notably to civil servants and middle class workers with government-backed mortgages providing substantial discounts. The new commission will take over come January, 5676.

April 5682 | Badri al-Sadhi elevated to new role, new think-tank formed.
King Tariq and Chief Minister Amjad al-Sadet have announced that Badri al-Sadhi, the brother of the patriarch of the al-Sadhi clan, would be elevated to the position of Deputy Chief Minister for Strategic Affairs. The new position, created to address a number of issues and to have a centralized head within the civilian realm, has generated some controversy according to sources within the General Intelligence Directorate and the Kafuri Armed Forces as a whole. The appointment of a member of the al-Sadhi clan, one of the leading clans from the Banu Bakar, shows deepening ties between the two most prominent tribal confederations in Kafuristan. In addition, it assures the continued cooperation between the relatively powerful Ba'athist and the Majali royalist in the Society of the King. Badri al-Sadhi, who holds the rank of Colonel in the Kafuri Majatran Army, will retain the rank but will be elevated in the civilian political sphere. In an address before the combined Council of Ministers, the General Staff of the Kafuri Armed Forces and the recently renamed Supreme Defense Council the new Deputy Chief Minister announced the formation of the Institute of National Security and Geopolitical Studies (INSGS). The Institute of National Security and Geopolitical Studies will be an amalgamation of various quasi-government offices and think-tanks into one unified research and academic center and will be the premier institution of the Kafuri government but will retain its independence to address the national security and geopolitical issues of the Kafuri government without "undue" influence from the government itself.

November 5688 | Supreme Security Council given lead on Selucia.
Officials from the Supreme Security Council, including Chief Minister al-Sadet meet to discuss Selucia.
Chief Minister Amjad al-Sadet has called a meeting of the Supreme Security Council to discuss the on-going situation in Selucia according to sources close to the government in Kasraj. The developing situation will test the resolve of Majatra and the wider world. "We condemn any humans rights abuses unilaterally. The Majalite Kingdom wishes for a peaceful solution to the on-going situation in Selucia and we will monitor the situation as necessary." A spokesman for the Supreme Security Council stated in an interview with state media. The Supreme Security Council's lead on the situation in Selucia has prompted fears within the Kafuri establishment that intervention, which has been specifically called out by Istalia, is on the table. Representatives from the Kafuri Foreign Ministry stated that the Supreme Security Council was given lead on the situation due to the increased regional tensions and the potential for the situation to become "...diplomatically untenable." Sources within the Kafuri Royal Navy have stated that elements of the Sea of Majatra Fleet have been mobilized in the event of humanitarian or "...other..." missions become necessary.
It is possible that Kafuristan seeks to work together with Badara, a close Majatran ally, underneath the Ahmadi Cooperation Council, which has largely functioned in the background since the organizations founding.
