Xsampa reaffirms support for the Dovani Security Consortium; A focus on drone production and frigates.

There are many ways to secure the safety of a continent. However, the best way to secure stability is to ensure friends and allies are happy and supported. After all, a stable, secure Dovani is within the interest of all of Dovani. And a key player who has had interest in that is New Verham, who has long been a supporter of Pan-Dovanism and wider regional stability. As such, Xsampa must continue supporting our allies who share our interests of a stable, secured Dovani. And this leads to the Dovani Security Consortium, which looks to support the production of military equipment for Dovani Security Organization nations and ensure a domestic, Dovani, producer of military goods. 

This week, the People's Committee of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that Xsampa will straighten and reaffirm its commitment to the DSC, most particularly on naval matters (of which, Xsampa has shipbuilding capacities) and drone production (something that Xsampa is a lead producer on in Dovani). For naval matters specifically, this shall see a focus on frigate production due to their size, reliability and cost. No one in Dovani is fielding major navies. Drone production is simply a no brainer. Xsampa already produces drones, so why not support wider DSC production instead of forcing our allies to produce their own drones on their own from scratch?

Alongside the reaffirmation of supporting DSC, Xsampa has reaffirmed it's support for the Dovani Security Organization, mostly on matters of supporting more activity within the DSO and most especially on joint military exercises between DSO members to further increase readiness and prevent the XDA and other allied militaries from falling into stagnation. Finally, it was unilaterally agreed between New Verham and Xsampa to support a joint intelligence sharing agreement to ensure both governments are aware, as both have coinciding interests. The Sovereign Sea is vital to all states within the Caltropic Lakes and the Sea of Carina, and Xsampa has a strong interest in getting a foothold in the Sea of Carina and Caltropic Lakes. And the first step, is sharing intelligence with our allies.

State visit to Tukarali; Reaffirming Proletarian Internationalism!

One of the most consistent socialist allies that Xsampa has had has been the National Democratic Republic of Tukarali, with the two supporting one another since Tukarali moved towards socialism. However, the Custodian Crisis has, like all other international relationships cast doubt on where Xsampa should go in relation to it's socialist responsibilities. This week however, it was made clear that the relationship between Tukarali and Xsampa is to remain as strong as possible and remains positive. This week, Premier Alarie set out to visit Tukarali with several goals achieved.

The first was of course, reaffirming the relationship between Xsampa and Tukarali, with Premier Alarie meeting with our esteemed comrades, Julio V. Maranan, Chairman of the All-Tukarali Central Executive Council and  comrade Segunda R. Castro, the Deputy for Foreign Affairs. Alongside reaffirming the relationship between the two countries, it was reaffirmed that both countries will continue to formally commit to Proletarian Internationalism, most especially on the issues vital to socialism, that being industrial development and education. Xsampa will also reaffirm its recognition of the Three Horizons Initiative as the development plan for Tukarali, and the wider established of socialism within Seleya given the material circumstances of Seleya. Being the only standing, successful socialist state within Seleya, it is imperative to recognize the successes and potential of the Three Horizons Initiative and the Tukarali model.

Furthermore, it was reaffirmed that bilateral trade between the two countries would be maintained and expanded with the formation of a formal trade corridor between the two countries, as Xsampa will now export Semiconductors to Tukarali in exchange for Copper imports. Trade between the two countries will continue to expand but Semiconductors will remain a key component of trade as this not only supports Xsampa, but more importantly, it supports our comrades in Tukarali. 

As a true socialist state, committed to the wellbeing of the Proletariat globally, it is imperative that we support our allies abroad, and recognize the successes they achieve with building up socialism in a continent traditionally hostile to the advance of socialism. May the friendship between Xsampa and Tukarali remain eternal! Glory to the Revolution! Glory to the National Democratic Republic of Tukarali! Eternal glory to our comrades in the struggle against imperialism, capitalism, fascism and totalitarianism!

Permanent Patrols in the Sovereign Sea to begin; Creation of the Strategic Joint Coordinated Command.

Patrols in the Sovereign Sea by the XDAN has largely been limited to times of concern, such as a rogue state being threatening, military conflict that requires transportation through the Sovereign Sea, or even pirates on the rare occasion. However, thanks to the Wirasena Naval Base, the XDA and the wider People's Committee of Revolutionary Defense has looked towards permanent patrols in the Sovereign Sea to ensure continuous stability. This week, it was announced that the Xsampan Democratic Army Navy will be conducting permanent security patrols within the Sovereign Sea to ensure trade is always safeguarded. This will ensure that trade lanes stay safe, stable and secure, and have the added benefit of allowing quick search and rescue missions should a ship go missing, a continuous anti piracy effort, and maritime law enforcement.

To actually ensure proper coordination however, and ensure the wider XDA is united, the Strategic Joint Coordinated Command (SJCC) has been created to ensure all branches of the military are formally coordinated at all times. The SJCC will oversee inter service coordination, military planning, overseas deployments and general crisis response. Without it, the XDA runs the risk of being divided and slow to respond to time sensitive crises. 

A safe Sovereign Sea is a safe Xsampa, and a safe Dovani. The SJCC and establishment of permanent patrols will be invaluable to keeping the XDA from rotting away, and ensure constant maritime security.

The curious case of Socialist International; Or rather, the lack of one.

In the past, the crowning achievement of Xsampa was the Socialist International (SocIntern), a collection of various socialist states, of diverse branches of socialism, all united in the struggle against capitalism and imperialism. However, the Socialist International has.. seen better days. Ever since Istalian socialism was forcibly dismantled in the 5580s and Baltusia underwent it's "Silver Revolution" in the 5640s, SocIntern has gradually declined with the only two formal members states remaining being Xsampa and Zardugal. However since then, times have changed. Tukarali has turned towards socialism, Nadiya has (to questionable degrees) turned towards communism and of course, there is the.. curious case of Utaristan and it's social fascistic approach to governing, polluting the Revolution. But with the emergence of new strands of socialism, it begs the question of if SocIntern can be revived once more?

And to that, the answer is; it depends. It depends on if SocIntern can maintain momentum to be restored and if it can be agreed what SocIntern exactly is. Is it a collection of strictly socialist states? An organization of political parties and movements committed to the advancement of socialism, irregardless of specific ideology? Should SocIntern follow a dogmatic approach and approach a "one size fits all" mindset? Be flexible and open to all strands of socialism? What about economic cooperation? Military support? The questions are endless. And the most important question that has to be answered if any attempt at a revival of SocIntern is to occur; Should there be a reconciliation with the Vanguard Socialists?

A unification of the Socialist World could certainly put capitalism on its toes and show the world that the spirit of communism is alive and well. It would allow a United Front to occur between all branches of Socialism and show that the international working class is firmly united. On the contrary however, Vanguard Socialism has shown itself to be dangerous to the working class, often exploiting the workers with a managerial class instead of just the bourgeoisie. And that's not accounting for the tense relations between Xsampa and Utaristan. And the Communist Party of Xsampa is firmly hostile to Utaristan, both due to the Custodian Crisis and the party manifesto of Mass Democracy opposing authoritarian socialism just as much as capitalism. Those issues would have to be overcome if SocIntern is to be restored and the Communist World is to be reunified. 

But, if it can be done then perhaps, just perhaps the momentum towards socialist unity can survive and SocIntern or even a new ideal can be established and international socialism can have a new breathe of life. But, it is worth remembering that leftist unity is a fickle thing and the biggest threat to socialism is often internal infighting.

Diamonds for Democracy III begins; Reinvesting into the domestic economy.

The Alarie Administration has made it no secret that foreign policy is largely the defining aspect of the current administration. Most especially with the Samshto Report. However, if the report is to be achieved in its idealized form, then the economy must clearly be capable of handling such efforts. And the best way to do so, is to begin heavy investments into domestic industries once again. As such, the Alarie Administration has revived the Diamonds for Democracy initiative and enacted Diamonds for Democracy III.

The goal is to not only expand production of course, but further define the support chain and provide higher quality domestic jobs. National Diamond Refinement Centres will need to be established to replace old refineries. Worker Councils will manage production, Social Enterprises will compete for contracts, and the Refinement Centres will be established near mining areas for logistical reasons. Furthermore, we will need to take advantage of our existing industries reliant on diamonds, such as jewelry and expand them. While the diamond industry is majority state owned (as Social Enterprises have little say compared to State Operated Enterprises), the jewelry industry is largely left to Social Enterprises. And they will need to compete with one another to create high quality goods for the Proletariat. Markets serve the working class. Social Enterprises will prove that.

As for industrial usage of diamonds, the manufacturing sector will take great interest in having more access to resources here as diamonds can be used for expanding production of precision tools, cutting equipment, machining equipment and even aerospace equipment. This also has the added bonus of assisting the aerospace industry. As Xsampa looks abroad, we cannot forget our home turf and we must always be vigilant on providing support for our domestic economy.

Birth of the Humanist Party of Xsampa; A party that looks towards idealism and Utopian Socialism?

Among the many goals of the Communist, there is the question of utopia. To a capitalist, it's a silly impossible goal. To the communist, it's a goal that can only be reached when the entire world is united in the chorus of socialism. Something that one day, will be achieved, but until then, is simply a vague goal. But, what of the idealist? The idealist may say "utopia is possible, and we shouldn't need to wait for the rest of the world to achieve it". Of course, whether it is possible or not is an entirely different question. But the idealists who have long been loyal to this idea, have always found themselves friends, and allies within a camp of socialism that is equally loathed, refiled and admired amongst the left. Utopian Socialism.

While Utopian Socialism isn't exactly Metzist, this hasn't stopped the basic idea from spreading about in select Intelligentsia groups, idealists, artists and the like. As the country moves on from the Custodian Crisis, Utopian Socialists have begun asking whether the country is looking forward enough towards achieving not just the goal of utopia, but the goal of perfecting mankind. This week, the People's Electoral Commission has confirmed the formation of a new party that sold to address this. The Humanist Party of Xsampa (HPX). In its founding congressional address, comrade Yonten Bombelles was elected Party Chairwoman, and formalized the HPX's formal manifesto. In it, it laid out firm endorsements for the ideals of Humanism, Ethical Socialism, Pacifism and explicitly idealism. Alongside of course, Utopian Socialism. The HPX firmly believes in strengthing support for human development, whether it be health, education or leisure development, and believes that militarism is an evolutionary dead end for socialism and that socialism must be pacifist, no matter what. Most interesting in its platform has been the endorsement of a Civic Service Program, to "promote public connection and unity". Alongside this, the believe that suffering anywhere, most especially in Xsampa is not a personal failure but a failure of the state and that the government has the obligation, both ethically, morally and pragmatically, to reduce suffering anywhere it can. 

While the HPX is already embroiled in controversy over its foreign policy stance, particularly regarding its staunch pacifism and lack of seeing ideology abroad, it's expected to gain a handful of seats in next years election. It's likely to remain as a minor party however, akin to the Socialist Party of Xsampa or the Democratic Socialist Left Party. Whether a party of idealists, and utopians can survive in a proper political environment however is yet to be seen as Utopian Socialism has certainly seen better times in days long gone.

ISDP prepares for its Party Congress; What are the internal factions of the ISDP?

The Independent Social Democratic Party remains a.. unique party in Xsampa for a plethora of reasons. Being the only party to actually call itself "social democratic", and being the most economically right wing and reformist (while the XIP sits in the Xsampan Right, the ISDP is usually considered to be centrist on most issues besides the economy due to its reformist nature). While the air of skepticism around the ISDP has faded ever since it's foundation and the Custodian Crisis, the ISDP is looking to hold a Party Congress  later this summer, to determine its future or rather, most likely, reaffirm the status quo. But to that, the most common question asked by foreigners is, what are the internal factions in the ISDP? The factions of the CPX are known, but what about the ISDP or XIP? Well, this week, we'll look into the ISDP as the Party Congress provides an ample a opportunity to do so.

To start off, we must take a look at the centre of the ISDP. The "Political Science Committee" as it's informally called (as the ISDP is rather strict on internal factions, so informal cliques exist) represents the dead centre of the ISDP. Those who believe that the task of Xsampan Social Democracy is to continue working towards reformist socialism, and generally not rocking the boat. The Political Science Committee favours a relatively technocratic approach to government and, for all intents and purposes, is arguably the most boring. But, the status quo has worked so far, hasn't it? Why shift horses mid race?

Looking to the left, there is the "Young Socialists" clique, who are more focused on supporting worker councils over social enterprises and favouring more traditional left wing Xsampan policies. The Young Socialists are essentially those who would nominally belong to the Socialist Labour Party and favour Democratic Socialism, but actually want to have a political career due to the largely irrelevant nature of the once notable SLP. However, because of the late Democratic Progressive Party joining the ISDP, the party has seen a notable right wing reformist shift, which has marginalized the Young Socialists.

And speaking of the right, we see two unique right wing factions in the ISDP. The Modernist Democrats clique, and the Neo-Revisionists clique. To start off with the Neo-Revisionists, they are largely the right wing of the ISDP. While they don't advocate for a return to capitalism, as that's.. politically unpopular, constitutional difficult and a third rail, the Neo-Revisionists do lean heavily into the market aspects of socialism, believing that the currently existing model of market socialism can withstand capitalism, and borrowing notes from Alter-Globalists, the Neo-Revisionists have favoured expanding connections with the global economy, and supporting limited foreign investments into the economy. All, within socialist principles of course, but nonetheless an economically right wing position in Xsampa.

And the Modernist Democrats, who largely consist of former DPP members. The Modernist Democrats find themselves endorsing a form of liberalism under socialism. They believe that the only way the ideals of liberalism can be achieved, such as the rule of law, constitutional government, and protection against arbitrary state power can only be achieved under socialism and that "neoliberal excess" such as private property are not fundamental to the ideals of liberalism. 

As the Party Congress looks for later this summer, many expect the Political Science Committee to prevail, as it often has in ISDP Party Congresses, but as the task of social democracy evolves, so too will the task of Xsampan Social Democracy, and whether it can evolve in a country that's already achieved the liberation of socialism, is yet to be seen.

I was stopped at the airport for a thorough check. They were polite. But the air of caution remained in the terminal halls. All pristine. Pride. My Seleyan passport triggered it. Not out of national identity, but of ancestry. I am, after all, a child of the Yeudi Diaspora.

A child of the echoing Yeudi silence.

It followed me as I backpacked my way out of Metz-Leonid. The sacred city would have to wait, for I had to take in the peaks of the country's northern lands.

A trip through the mighty mountain range the locals call the "Hanzen Shield", the country stands separated, yet united, across the ages of peace and turmoil alike. Roads are pristine, but rural, winding, mountainous. The pride of a Dovanian peoples, follows me. A quick spiritual stop in a village sitting at the edge of a massive cliff overlooking a brownish scenery, untouched, preserved; it reminds me of simpler times and of simplicity itself. Of harmony. Of history's neglect of the Dovanian continent.



Several nights later and I find myself in a multicultural blend of peoples in the far north, seemingly detached from the rest of the nation, yet still, inexplicably beating the same heart of unity.

No plan. I staff myself with the local cuisine. Siloed internationalism, at its finest.

Day 11 and I head back south, with one of those pesky little paper planes. Tourist traps, though heavily controlled, are still convenient, when you need them to. When you allow them to.

The landscape takes my breath away. The mighty Gsergyi Chubo river makes you feel you are in an entirely different part of the world. Civilisation meets rural communities, sometimes peacefully, sometimes violently, with overpasses breaking the ambience of cows, donkeys and leaves in the wind.

I stood in farmland, unmoving, on the last day, before heading back. A friendly couple graciously hosted me for a night. A simple, plain living, yet technological. A rural edge at the edge of rurality.

And on the final day, Metz-Leonid. I wept at the Bargas Chenpo memorials.

History may be continuous.

But it's marked heavily, here and there.

Sometimes in shame.

Sometimes in pride.

And Xsampans had chosen the latter.

Rabyang Lukhangwa (ISDP) elected Premier; ISDP forms a moderate coalition with XIP and Left-Green Dovani.

The 5735 elections have concluded with a rather surprising victory as the CPX lost its majority, with voters giving the mandate to the ISDP instead. Being forced to rely on support from the conservative socialist Xsampa Improvement Party (the 2nd biggest party in PAX) and Left-Green Dovani (to act as a left wing counterbalance to the XIP), a coalition was formed between the three as well as the compromise of Rabyang Lukhangwa as Premier. Being a moderate within the ISDP, Lukhangwa has become the second ISDP premier in history, and ideally this time, without an attempted coup like we saw 10 years ago.

Lukhangwa has pledged a moderate platform for Xsampa, focusing on encouraging domestic economic growth, and by granting Foreign Policy to the XIP, he has signaled that he's not opposed to maintaining the current assertive foreign policy, but as expected of an ISDP government, has favoured diplomacy and reconcilation. Most specifically, Lukhangwa has supported restoring trade relations with Kalistan, and has condemned the Nsanlosian invasion of Istapali, citing that the civil war in Istapali is "unstable as is, and Nsalosa is escalating the situation". 

Whatever the case, foreign policy will remain a key point for the Lukhangwa Administration. Xsampa supports the National Liberation Front in Istapali; Nsanlosian Imperialism is condemned as the XDAN moves to support  in the Gulf of Lazi.

The ongoing civil war in Istapali has warranted considerable concern however with Nsanlosa conducting an invasion under the guide of "stability and peacekeeping", the civil war has ceased to be a domestic issue and has become of importance to Xsampa. This week, the People's Committee of Foreign Affairs has announced total support for the National Liberation Front, an alliance of left wing groups in Istapali that have united against capitalism and imperialism. They are recognized as the legitimate government of Istapali by Xsampa, and as such will receive aid (such as humanitarian aid) and military equipment in their struggle against tyranny! Furthermore, a formal condemnation has been issued to Nsanlosa for their blatant Imperialist invasion of Istapali.

Furthermore, thanks to the Wirasena Naval Base in Midway, the Xsampan Democratic Army Navy has been mobilized to enter the Gulf of Lazi and provide support to the National Liberation Front, and ensure humanitarian aid can enter the coastal region of Istapali. The XDAN will have the explicit goal of supporting naval assets belonging to the National Liberation Front by any means necessary against the reactionary National Reconciliation Junta. Despite the ideological differences between Xsampa and the National Liberation Front, they will have the full support and backing of Xsampa in the crusade against reaction and imperialism!

While the People's Committee of Revolutionary Defense conducts a renovation and review of the Riwo Ganden Supercarrier, it was considered to deploy it to provide more support but ultimately decided against due to potential risks as the Riwa Ganden has been inactive for some time (much to the pain of the Peoples Committee of Financial Management) and until the review is finished, will not see deployment of any sorts. Regarding the Xsampan Expeditionary Force, it's been decided to keep direct support limited to strictly naval roles as Xsampan equipment is hoped to overcome challenges for the NLF. However, should the situation for the communists grow more dire, it has been discussed that should the NLF request it, military advisors can be sent to provide direct support.
